I was super excited to try this place and have wanted to for quite some time.. I'm a sandwich lover soo.. I placed an order for delivery, which happily arrived on time. The sandwich, however, was actually not at all good. The bread did not taste fresh, nor did any of the veggies, wilty weird tasting lettuce, wilted cucumber and no flavor tomato and the barely-there turkey. What a huge disappointment. The best part of the sandwich was the perfectly ripened avocado. I ate the first half and sadly did not finish the sandwich. Big waste of money, unfortunately. Ordered to go & when it was picked up 3 large stickers sealing the bag. That is fine if the order was correct! They want a tip before a service is fully performed and they made it extremely difficult to check the contents of the bag. When I called to let them know a sandwich was missing; the 'manager' was rude, seemed distracted and definitely did not care about a nice resolution--just escalation that it was no big deal and he'll 'try' to do a refund. Now I want to talk to district manager because customers are sick of not getting what they order; tipping for nothing and then hardly even getting a correct refund. Bread on sandwich (that was included) was stale! So disappointing--last 3 times bad service & bad bread. Learned my lesson. But buyers beware--staff not paying attention to what they bag; and manager is rude and cannot simply apologize. A simply apology and acting like cared would have completely diffused the situation. Our experience at Potbelly Sandwich Soup was amazing. They cooked my "Pizza Melt" sandwich fresh and made it extremely tasty, so our service was 10/10. Since it was minutes before they closed, not a lot of people were there. The ambiance at 9:30 doesn't compare to 1 PM, when everyone be there. I have been ordering Potbelly catering for years for my office lunch meeting but BEWARE if you're ordering now, make sure you know that Small Bundle for 6 is now only 3 sandwiches cut in three (total 9) - used to be 6 sandwiches cut in half to make total 12 half sandwiches in a box and Large Bundle for 10 is now only 5 sandwiches cut in three (total 15) instead of 10 sandwiches cut in two (total 20). I think it's not fair for them to keep the same price, but we only get a half than we used to get. Yes, it's nothing short of wonderful. And I'm shocked to say that, as someone who swears by my avoidance of chains for my regular meals. I come here *at least* once a week now. So why so good? Perhaps because it's from Chicago, and they're making Chicago style sandwiches the way they do, and would, back in Chi-town. They've managed to copy the model of that first sandwich shop in Chicagoland, making them just the way they did back then, and they're making them brilliantly. You can't really get much better than this from a chain. It puts Subway to shame. And all the others too, which themselves are far superior to Subway, but this is far superior to all of them... the Jersey Mike's and the Jimmy John's and the Which Wiches of the world. You could say that those are all the Wiches of Eastwick, and that the yellow brick road leads to Potbelly. So the Italian is the way to go, it's full of delicious spicy lunch meats that taste imported, and all the ingredients are wonderful. The hot peppers are everything, ask for extra on the side... same goes for the pickles. But every topping is excellent. But their pizza sub is excellent and also their chicken bacon cheddar as well. Delicious soups. Good cookies. Every sandwich has been anywhere from good to magnificent. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about them. My boyfriend went to pick up sandwiches and I sent him the order details. He has never been to Potbelly and wasn't familiar with the order process and the person helping him was rude and kept telling him they didn't have pepper relish. This place is very clean with excellent customer service. They are attentive and efficiant and the ingredients tastes so good and fresh. I didn't like the Potbellys near me but I actually buy sandwiches for my colleagues and I. However, most of the time I just get their chili or the delicious and rich chicken pot pie soup. I finally found a sandwich I like at Potbelly. Sandwiches are my favorite meal (Seriously! I can relate to Joey Tribbiani on FRIENDS), so I wondered why I wasn't liking this place and couldn't seem to find anything I really liked. I tried the BLTA today and was pretty impressed; especially because all my other attempts to like this place failed. The bread was toasted perfectly, the bacon was very good and the avocado was a nice spin on the old BLT favorite. The location of this particular shop is in a very busy area. Gessner and I-10 is super populated due to the hospital, The Westin Hotel, Target and being right in the heart of the Memorial District. With that said, parking is not convenient. There are store front spots, but they are typically occupied. They do have a parking garage behind the shop for overflow, but I personally can't stand parking garages, so I try to avoid them at all costs. On the flip side, they tend to have enough seating because most of the people take their food to go (lots of medical professionals at this location). PBS does have one interesting thing other sandwich shops don't. They have a variety of fountain sodas & bottle sodas (fountain: Minute Maid Lemonade, Fanta orange/bottle: Vitamin Water, Arizona Tea), they have a good variety of chips (Zapp's & UTZ Cheese Curls), they have soup, salad & mac 'n cheese, they have a good kids menu (PBJ sandwiches) plus they have ice cream shakes and cookie. That's a lot for a sandwich shop. The service was good, the restaurant was clean and the prices are comparable to other places with similar food. Don't forget the Perks Programs! Earn points for free items. I'm glad I gave them another shot. They truly have more going for them than not. I just needed to find my way through their sandwiches and have something to call my fave. Whenever I travel anywhere there's a Potbelly, I always ensure to stop by and get the cookies. Their Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies are AMAZING!! It's better to order via the app because they sell out of the cookies really quickly While in Houston, I normally stop by Potbelly at Gesner because it's on my way but service and orders being ready on-time have been issue. When I stopped by this time I ordered a pair which comes with half sandwich and salad - and you mix and match whichever combo you wanted. I ordered the uptown salad and it was very good with great croutons, walnuts, cheese and cranberries. I paired this with the veggie sandwich for a filling lunch. The quality that sets this apart is the pieces of crumbly crust IN the soup along with savory chunks of chicken and veggies in a not-too-thick chicken broth. First time to a Potbelly Sandwich Shop. Not overly impressed, must another chain sandwich shop. But they do offer salads and Mac and Cheese. Tried the "A Wreck" sub. Best part of the sandwich was the hot peppers, but toasted bun and melted cheese was a nice change. Very limited meat in the sandwich, so pile on the lettuce and tomatoes to give it some volume. My wife was in the hospital a couple hundred yards way so it was convenient. Not sure I'd go back of given other choices. But its good in a bind. Nice clean sitting area. Self serve drinks. Just had a great experience here. The restaurant was clean, all of the staff was helpful, and the sandwich was fast and good - just what I needed. One major shoutout - Crystal, who helped me and took my order, was so, so friendly and kind. She helped me figure out what to get, offered me a free sample of soup (which I got a bowl afterwards) and overall was just so pleasant. I grew up in Houston and eventually moved away, but I returned this week for a visit as a family member was in the nearby hospital. The interaction with Crystal reminded me of why I love and miss Houston and Texas - southern kindness and heart you can only find here. I hope she's getting a raise or a promotion soon because her approach to customers is exactly what I would be looking for in a business and I am confident she has manager/owner and beyond in her future. For a counter service sandwich place, this is my favorite. You know why? "A Wreck" is the best concoction of roast beek, turkey, ham & salami topped with melted swiss & their spicy olive salad. I usually get the sandwich "skinny" which means they hollow out the bread for ya. Not sure how skinny it made my sandwich but my belly is always very happy after eating a wreck. Their mediterranean sandwich or the vegetarian are solid choices for those days I want to go meatless. Service is always cordial & quick which is good as this location is pretty much land-locked in a strip center right by the hospital & parking can be a bit tricky. read more

This is my first place to explore when I moved to Houston. It's good for non juicy sandwiches. I like sandwich of less juiciness. In that way, grilled chicken sandwich is good which makes you feel lighter if you are in diet. Parking is little tough. They should do something about it.
