The atmosphere is very welcoming! One thing that really stood out, and I haven't seen many restaurants do this -- is that they offer you a small sample of the food before you order. That little touch made a huge difference! It helped me decide on the right heat level for my chicken and narrow down which sides I wanted. Such a simple gesture, but so thoughtful. I ordered the H-Town wings with the hot honey sauce and a side of their homemade ranch -- and WOW. The wings were incredible, and that ranch? Delicious doesn't even cover it. I also ordered the leg and thigh Korean style, and while the flavor was amazing, it was a bit too saucy for my taste. I hate sending food back, but I knew I wasn't going to eat it -- so I did. And let me tell you, they handled it with such grace and kindness. No attitude, no awkwardness -- just genuine, outstanding customer service. I had tumble 22 years ago in Austin when it was still just a food truck. I was craving hot chicken so decided to make an online order for pick up. I ordered at 9:30 in time for pick up at 9:50 before they closed at 10. We ended up standing and waiting until 10:15 before we finally got our order. We basically had no updated communication for over 20 minutes and just stood there while they went to go "check on it". Hot chicken: juicy and flavorful. Came in as soon as they opened on a Monday. I was greeted and seated immediately. The waiter was very friendly with a positive attitude (if that makes sense). I ordered the grapefruit margarita which took a few minutes because he had to turn the machine on for it to freeze which I was completely fine with as they had just opened and why rush a great drink. I was very surprised how strong it was or I am becoming a light weight I really enjoyed my sandwiches and was pleasantly surprised that they actually have sandwiches with dark meat. The Korean OG sandwich was spectacular -- bold, intense flavors, maybe even almost too flavorful (if that's a thing). Portions are huge, so finishing a whole sandwich is a challenge for a normal adult. We also ordered the Southern Buffalo, which was equally awesome. For dessert, we topped it off with key lime pie, and it was spectacular -- a perfect way to end the meal. Portion was perfect for a date. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but nothing unusual for restaurants these days, especially post-COVID. We visited on a Saturday during Ramadan, hoping to break our fast at the restaurant. Before ordering, we asked the waitress how long certain items would take due to our 20-minute window. She assured us the OG and Texas Twister OG sandwiches would be ready quickly, while the Korean-style bone-in chicken might take longer. We were fine with that, and requested the sandwiches come out first. Unfortunately, all the food arrived nearly 40 minutes later--at once. The Korean chicken wasn't fully cooked, and when we were finally able to get our waitress' attention, the waitress reacted with indifference saying she will get her manager. A manager came and took a piece of chicken back to the kitchen without much explanation. The interaction felt weirdly robotic, lacking empathy or communication. They did remove the item from our bill, which I appreciated, but the overall experience was disappointing. 9/1/2025: We had an okay lunch on Labor Day at Tumble 22. It wasn't busy at all since it was 2:00 pm when we arrived. We were greeted and shown to our table within 1 minutes of walking in. They have outdoor covered seating with long tables. Inside tables were mainly booths. That was a perk. The restaurant was clean and the bathrooms were managed well. The food was good, portions were big, and the price point was on the low average. My friend and I split the Tupelo Hot Honey chicken sandwich with a side of fries and a side of broccoli salad. The chicken sandwich was good. We ordered ours crispy. The honey portion of the sandwich is the honey is sriracha sauce. We asked for ours on the side. The sauce is good, but it's not a taste I typically prefer. I'm glad we ordered it on the side. It is very honey with a little sriracha. The fries were good. Nothing special, but good. The broccoli salad was interesting. I did not care for it at all. I usually like broccoli salad, but this one was lacking in flavor and I wasn't excited about the loads of raisins. We had a few little issues during our lunch. Getting the amount of napkins one needs for handheld food was a chore. We got one napkin on our first ask (after the food was delivered to the table). Just the fact that we had to ask for napkins was an irritation, especially AFTER the food was placed on the table. We received two napkins on our second ask, and on our third ask, the waitress brought two more napkins and sheepishly said, "sorry, we are going broke". I think she realized her mistake in saying that after the fact, but we were floored it was even said. Was she joking? Is she just socially awkward?? Was she serious??? We sat there puzzled for a good 30 seconds after she walked away. The napkin issue was after running out of lemonade (which was the best part of my lunch - they have great lemonade), and then waiting almost 30 minutes for our food to arrive. After we received our food and before the "broke" comment, I asked for ranch. She was only able to give us one since they had run out. Need less to say, I wasn't super impressed on my first visit to T22. I'm not sure we would go back, but as we joked, they may not be around long to even have a chance to go back. Seriously, I do not want to get the waitress in trouble. She was sweet and I am sure she didn't mean to say what she said, but she needs to understand that is a very poor representation for T22. If it was a joke, it was a terrible joke. I thought about HH with my coworkers at T22, but that was before my lunch on Monday. I still think they deserve another shot, so I will probably go again. Got to try their sampler platter, and really enjoyed the coleslaw, broccoli salad, and the southern sandwich. I've got to be fair writing this review. Fairness is very very necessary! Now, I am never a fan of any "waves". Whenever something new comes out I never get it and go the other way! Went on a Tuesday eve about 7pm. No wait, only a few tables. Our waitress, Autumn, greeted us immediately and she was an absolute delight. We are normally regulars of Gus's when we want fried chicken so that wha I can compare it to locally. Since it was our first time, she offered a little sampler of the regular chicken, the mo hot chicken, and the sides. It was so helpful to be able to gauge spice tolerance and side preferences! The chicken comes in 5 different spice levels (I think) starting with seasoned but no heat up to hotter than I'll ever order lol. Of the sides we did not get but sampled: Broccoli slaw - very tasty, broccoli was not too crunchy but still had bite. Almost taste like the broccoli had been blanched to soften slightly? I was actually very pleased with that since sometimes broccoli slaw can be stalky. Creamy dressing, mild flavor. Wouldn't be my first choice of sides but still pleasing. Coleslaw - really good IMO. Coleslaw is one of those things with various recipes and as many preferences but this one was creamy, lightly sweet, and not very acidic. An easy eat that would go great on a sandwich. Greens - delicious flavor but a bit too crisp for my preference. I do like my greens cooked down a bit more tender, but the pot liquor and the overall flavor profile was delicious. It's got the smoked turkey in it, don't worry. For our entrees we had both the bone in 1/4 dark regular seasoned (no heat) and the 3 tender plate at the #3 mo heat spice level. My teen loves spicy chicken and he really enjoyed that spice level. It was juicy and hot and came served on a slice of white bread with bread and butter pickles. He got fries with his and that's probably the only item we weren't in love with, only due to the fact that they could have used seasoning. They were cooked perfectly though. The regular seasoned bone in chicken with no heat is still PLENTY tasty and full of flavor. The bone in chicken was cooked all the way through, the skin was PERFECT, and it was very juicy. I thought the flavor profile was comparable to Gus's but I liked the skin better here. I find the skin at Gus's to be a little harder than I prefer. Our waitress told us the name "Tumble 22" comes from the fact that they batter, then tumble 11 times, then repeat so the crust is still flaky and I could definitely tell the technique was working for them. I had Mac n cheese, which was made with mascarpone cream cheese and seriously delicious. It's not the baked kind of Mac but rather the super creamy saucy kind of Mac. I also had ranch beans and they were good but probably would rather get the cole slaw next time. These are ranch beans, not baked beans and locals will know the difference but visitors may not. Ranch beans are savory with a chili type sauce, not sweet like baked beans. I got a piece of chocolate cream pie to go and was absolutely satisfied with my choice. The chocolate layer was lightly sweet, the cream layer was airy and slightly sweeter than the chocolate layer, and the pie crust was flaky and not at all soggy. It was finished off with a dusting of cacao powder and the bitterness played very well with the light sweetness of the filling. If you are looking for a cloyingly sweet slice of pie, you'll have to stick to the popular pie joint in town, but this type of pie is right up my alley. The place was very clean, including the bathrooms. Music was at an appropriate level and was mostly southern rock/bluesy type of music. Service was impeccable and we will definitely be asking for Autumn again when we return. Very pleasant dinner ahead of a winter storm that may have us eating pb&j's, and we WILL be back! read more

I usually go to the Vintage Park location, but I decided to check this place out as it just opened. Note: if you're coming from the west on I-10, you may want to take an earlier exit than Gessner. My server kicked ass. Dude knew the menu, showed me the beer menu, and gave his recommendations. Being they are very new, they're weren't participating in the monthly OG Sandwich promotion. I was honestly disappointed with my experience at this establishment. From the moment I walked in, things were off. The sign clearly says "wait to be seated," yet there was no hostess at the front. After waiting for a while with no acknowledgment, I eventually seated myself. Unfortunately, the service only went downhill from there. The bartender showed little to no situational awareness and didn't acknowledge me for about seven minutes--only after I asked for a menu. As someone with firsthand bartending experience, I know how important it is to greet guests promptly and read the room. The restaurant wasn't even busy--there were only three people at the bar. I also had to initiate everything myself--asking for a menu and placing my drink order. Typically, a bartender should engage guests, offer menus, and ask what they'd like to drink. Instead, it felt like I was an inconvenience. When the food arrived, I ordered greens and a half chicken. The portion was off--far more meat than greens in the bowl. When I brought it to the bartender's attention to see if it could be corrected, he simply walked off without responding, which was frustrating and unprofessional. To make matters worse, I was never checked on again--no follow-up, no offer for another drink, nothing. At that point, I lost any interest in staying. Your staff--especially the hostess and bartender--are the face of your establishment, and unfortunately, they did not represent it well at all. Just AWESOME!!! My family and I went here to try something new this Friday night and I can say I was impressed! We tried the Tupelo Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, the Heavenly eggs, and the Dirty Mac and Cheese. The portions are big so me and my sister shared the sandwich. First off, the service was excellent. The staff was friendly and professional, excellent 5/5 in that regard. However it all goes down hill from here. I got the mixed fried chicken entree and the chicken was rubbery and not very good. Whatever commercial low quality oil they're using to fry their chicken in comes through as well. No wonder why they're giving a buy one entree, get one free deal. If you're unfortunate enough to get one of these coupons, don't bother. Save your health and money and try elsewhere. I tried the new asian og sandwich (cant remember the full name). OMG!! That was probably the best sandwich I have ever head. The price was steep...$16, but it was huge and was very filling. Love the crisp wonton and slaw! Good job T22..you never disappoint!! read more
