I have been going to this location at potbelly's weekly for years and I'm not sure why but the workers there are careless. I had two bad experiences there recently. The first issue occurred when I was ready to pay. The employee who made my sandwich was standing at the register texting on his phone and was too distracted to turn around and help me. I found that completely unacceptable from a customer service standpoint. The second issue was with my order itself. I specifically requested no cheese on my sandwich, but it was made with cheese anyway. After it was remade, I noticed the employee was wiping down the counter with a dirty washcloth and then touching other surfaces while preparing food. Had I not asked her to change her gloves, she appeared ready to continue handling my food without doing so. That raises serious concerns about cross-contamination and basic food safety practices. Overall, I'm very disappointed with this location. Between the lack of attention to customers and the food safety concerns, the experience fell well below expectations. read more

We had to-go orders from this Potbelly for a couple of times recently. Both times went very smoothly, we just ordered on the phone with their app, even took advantage of a free sandwich each time, the orders were ready at the time promised. Staff members were polite and efficient. The restaurant was nice and clean. Since they have three to-go parking spaces in front of the restaurant, and each time there was one available, so, parking was not a problem. But I could see that if you eat in, parking could be quite limited, as the parking area was very small. The ingredients of the sandwiches were very fresh. Both times we ordered a multigrain avocado turkey sandwich for each of us, that came with avocado, turkey, and cucumber. We just added lettuce, onion, and tomatoes. It was tasty even without seasoning. The first time it was for lunch, the crust of the bread was crunchy with a soft inside, that was very delicious. However, the second time it was for a quick dinner on a Saturday on our way home, the bread did not have a crunchy crust, it was a disappointment to me, as I was craving for that perfect bread. This Potbelly Sandwich Shop is in the center of the shopping area. If you don't know where it is, you may need the assistance of your GPS the first time. When you find it, the parking is pretty easy, actually easier than if you have to go to the Glen - so this is a preferred pick up location. The store itself is pretty quiet inside and easy to find your order. We usually order online and pickup is quick and everything is as expected. Today we gasp... went and ordered in person!!! The service was friendly and quick. We'll probably be back and take advantage of the next coupon deal. Would recommend signing up for the Potbelly Perks if you frequent these places often. This was the worst experience I have ever had at any dining establishment in recent years. Put in a mobile order well in advance, in hopes of having a nice lunch with my 2 year old son and husband. Approximately an 2 hours before my order was to be prepared, I made a quick call to confirm my order would be ready for pick up 1:30 PM. The employee assured me everything was great! 1:32 PM arrives. My starved 2 year, myself and my husband get there. No sandwiches More time passes by. Still no sandwiches? We are informed, despite having a PAID receipt on their POTBELLY APP (with pickup time) and transaction on our CHASE BANK app, that no payment was made. We were pressured to pay now, again, a second time. We pay. It's now well past the pickup time. STILL NO SANDWICHES. All this despite that the APP is stating my order is, and has been, ready. So basically the restaurant can decide to randomly drop people's orders, fill or fulfill them at their own whim with NO COMMUNICATION WHATSOEVER. We could have sat there until 3:00 and no sandwich would ever be made, despite our order being "ready" Priority is very clearly being given to customers ordering at the restaurant and not "ahead" on the app..... ok. My 2 year old is crying and starting to lose patience. Finally we get food, well past the order pick up time. Due to dietary restrictions, one sandwich was to be made without eggs. It was very clearly ordered that way on the Potbelly APP. Spoiler alert: Both sandwiches had loads of eggs on them. When we brought the sandwiches up, they then proceeded to argue with us that one of the sandwiches did not have eggs. BOTH SANDWICHES WERE LOADED WITH EGGS! They finally proceeded to remake said sandwich. I could hear one employee reading the order out loud to the other employee making the sandwich. The vibe, I got from this (very audible dialogue) was I was being the inconvenience for ordering my sandwich a certain way. Rather than them making it incorrectly. Personally if a customer brought me a sandwich after all this hassle, made wrong, I'd just fix it and move on with it, not argue with them. It was just so much hassle, time waste, and stress, no one enjoyed their food. A nice family lunch absolutely ruined. I guess lesson is, don't mobile order your food, because you won't get it here and it won't be made correctly. Or even better, just don't eat at this Potbelly's. Lesson truly learned. read more

Been coming here for over eight years since since this original strip mall was built on this tiny little corner. This place over the years has been super consistent and always busy which is a good sign. The challenge to coming here is the parking because the parking is super tiny and very limited. I have never had a bad experience at this potbelly and all of these years, despite all all of the different employees who come through here. And as we all know potbelly has some type of formula to maintain the consistency in their food and the size and the timing. Truly enjoy this place especially if you need a hot sandwich and you can always customize because over the years they've changed the bread offerings the skinny option, and now being able to even double the meats. And if you have room always go for a shake or some of the desserts and cookies, because they are delectable. read more

Every time I've had to call or walk into this shop, they've been super helpful, especially when approached with kindness. Today, when I walked in, the manager (Tina?) was the first person to greet me. She had a genuine smile, asked about my day, and took my order quickly. The person who made my sandwich was also professional and patient even when I had a brain freeze about what the sandwich I wanted was called and couldn't hear the question he asked. The shakes are DELICIOUS. Their cookies are divine. I have a new favorite sandwich shop. I used to go to the original location in Chicago when I was in my 20's and hadn't been back since. I never thought it to be a spectacular sandwich back then so I had no desire to go back when they got franchised. A friend of mine told me about a BOGO offer so I decided to check it out since I like good deals. I'm was pleasantly surprised at how much better it's becomes. So many ingredients to choose from and lots of hot options. I've been coming back since. On occasion I still enjoy the nice snap of a Jimmy John's sandwich but this has been my go to place lately. read more

Very upset with this location. More than a week ago, this location couldn't fulfill my order due to chemical issues in the place (they had to close down). They didn't put anything on their online order system to notify customers about this, and I ended up ordering and going here just to get my refund receipt given to me at the front door. Oh well. Even worse, it's been more than a week since then and I still haven't gotten my refund. I've called 4+ times, being told each time that my refund was sent up to the "store assistant" and "refund company". Nothing ever went through. The employee seemed to be sorry on the phone, but I don't understand why it is such a long process. I want my $20 back! It really shows a lack of communication and teamwork between the franchise company and the restaurant. Still waiting on my refund, never came. I come into this Potbelly location often. My go-to is the flat chicken salad sandwich with everything, including avocado, with a bowl of chili loaded. It's on point every time. Another positive thing about this Potbelly location is the awesome outside seating area. While we are approaching the winter months, it's not ideal; however, in the summer, it's awesome to be able to sit outside and enjoy the weather. There is also a rather large parking lot so it's nearly impossible to not find a spot. At times, it looks like this location is slightly understaffed but the employees always do their best with smiles on their faces. Davonna, Mike, and Ashley specifically always go above and beyond and are extremely helpful. *They currently have a sign hanging around the location with wages starting at $15 for team members and $17 for shift managers. Definitely will be back as always and encourage others to visit this location as well! read more

It gets really boring eating lunch at the same handful of places week in and week out. That's why the opening of a new quick-service place in the area is so eventful. But it's not very often that one of the old standbys updates its offerings and injects some excitement into my humdrum 1pm routine. However, that is exactly what Potbelly has done by introducing the Mediterranean sandwich. After one try, I became an instant fan. Now that I've had six or seven, I can say that this is the best thing for sale at Potbelly--and yes, that includes the chocolate-chip cookie. This sandwich is that good! Mildly spicy hummus, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, and cucumbers (on wheat and hold the feta for me, add onions please): I love having a meatless sandwich option that actually tastes good. I don't miss the cheese either. Potbelly has promoted the heck out of this sandwich on buses, cabs, and even the radio, so I hope that it is here to stay. Potbelly in general is my favorite sandwich restaurant, but this location in particular is stellar! I don't have a ton of time during my lunch break on work days, but even with my limited time, I always know I can go in and be served quickly with enough time to grab and go. I'm pretty basic and usually go for a turkey sandwich (original size) with everything, especially the hot giardinera (some of the hottest peppers I can find!), but I've had one of the managers, Ashley, recommend some new food to me. At her suggestion, I tried the Cuban (and ordered it several times thereafter) when it was on the menu and the lemon cookie as well. She also suggested I download the app, and since I have, I've gotten freebies via the Potbelly Perks program, like a free cookie for registering, free shakes w/a purchase, and other things. Anyway, I go here about once a week for lunch, and sometimes bring sandwiches home for dinner (esp. on BOGO days!). I really like these hot subs. I'm thinking they have around eight different subs and three sizes. They now have a 'big' sub that works for my appetite. I usually get a 'big' turkey with extra meat on wheat. They will remove the soft inside part of the bread for those that don't want all that bread. I always get extra hot giardiniera on mine and it's pretty hot so beware. I like the guitar playing and the tables and booths. It's comforting. I'm told the shakes and cookies are great but I've never had them, I'm just there for the sub. All the Potbelly's are pretty consistent in my area of the North Shore. read more

This Potbelly in particular has really impressed me. As a veteran of the customer service industry and a current business manager, I am more and more thrilled with their service every time I stop in. First off, their facility is always clean including the bathrooms. This is a huge plus from the customer perspective because stores and businesses with cleanliness at high level are typically high performers in all other areas. Secondly, the staff! Huge, huge compliments to the staff and management. After going there 3 or 4 times, the gentlemen and young lady who had served me prior already had my favorite order memorized and convinced me to get the app which has already saved me a ton of time and money! Sandwiches are fine, and my review is for the charge/refund problem I had with the store (984 Willow Rd, Northbrook, IL 60062). I placed an order online and immediately noticed that I ordered the wrong sandwiches. I called the store right away (seven hours before my pick-up time) to cancel the order, and placed a new order online. I was told that I would receive a refund in a few days for the canceled order but now one week later, no refund has been issued. Called the store again and they again promised to refund me. My credit card statement shows that the store charged me for both orders. I filed dispute with my credit card company. This is all unnecessary and waste mine and others time if the store just does the right thing and refunds customer promptly. read more

This is a pretty decent Potbelly's. The first few weeks were a bit rough. It took a while to work out the kinks but my last several visits went extremely well. The staff is super friendly and they all seem to enjoy working together -- which is always a bonus on the side of atmosphere. What differentiates this Potbelly shop is the nicely shaded, serene outdoor seating! Perfect spot to enjoy a quick grab on a sunny day. Simple menu with just the right amount of options. I'd say Potbelly's highlights are their warm toasted bread and the mini salerno butter cookies that come on the straws with the shakes! Then you will get attitude for not using the proper lingo for ordering. The manager seems annoyed at being at work and nobody seems to want to be there on staff. Was so bummed after my visit there today. Yes, I realize that it's a sandwich shop, but I visited with a group of friends knowing I could find something on the menu I could eat. I am a celiac and the workers were so unkind and rude. I asked which soups were Gluten Free and the man proceeded to give me a document that honestly was typed in 5pt font and told me I could look it over myself.
