    Groovy Bus!
    Ethan E.

I came here for the first time (to this location, not the franchise itself) this summer while on a day trip in the area. I love the retro vibes inside (70s I think?) . The bus structure was a sight to marvel at and overall it felt so lively. There was even a group of ladies playing what I believe was either Canasta or Mahjong. The food was excellent and was right on par with all the classic Portillo's flavors we know and love . The service was quick, and it was pretty clean from what I can remember. I quite enjoy throwback themes in restaurants, and this place does it well. Thus is why I will always LOVE Portillo's!

I went to the Portillo's Deerfield to claim my birthday piece of cake. As a Portillo's Perk member I get a free piece of their legendary chocolate cake on my birthday. I was able to get in, pick up my cake, and get out quickly. There was no line. I love how each Portillo's has their own unique decorations that center around a common style. This restaurant is no different. I love Portillo's and all of their food, especially their cake. I highly recommend Portillo's Deerfield!

I love Portillo's but today's visit fell a little short. The hotdog didn't have that special snap that it usually does and the flavor wasn't right. Also, the crinkle fries were hot and crisp, but the texture was a little overdone. Nevertheless, my friends split a #1 Italian beef big combo and they enjoyed themselves. Our lunchtime visit had a pretty big crowd, but the Portillo's staff cheerfully and efficiently keep things moving along. So, not my favorite visit today, but I'll be back soon and hope to add that star back.

Ordered a chocolate cake online. Went to the location, which had ample parking. The carryout area is right in the front, clearly labelled. Inside the restaurant it is pretty dark. Since everything was super easy, on time, I was literally in and out of there in 2 minutes. And the chocolate cake is always a win. I know that ordering in store can take a while, so I think knowing how much quicker online ordering ahead is - that will always be my 'go to' for Portillo's!

I was so dissatisfied with Portillo's fries that I cut up some potatoes and made my own.

I never understood why Portillo's is so slow in getting the orders out - you would think the large number of staff they hire would make everything more efficient. They all look so 'busy' behind the counter, but nothing is being prepped and orders are just not going out. We came here for lunch, and we ordered a charbroiled cheeseburger with all the fixings besides mustard, a Spicy Chicken Sandwich (comes with lettuce, tomatoes, and giardiniera sauce, in between a brioche bun) , and large fries. The fries were actually fresh and hot, which hardly happens! Both the sandwiches, however, were at room temperature, which doesn't make sense either. Note that even if you request your sandwiches to be sliced in half, the staff does such a poor job, as it's not cut appropriately or completely. The space is large and plenty of sectioned off eating areas. Ample parking in the large lot. +fresh fries (still a gamble) +poorly prepared sandwiches +inefficient staff +parking available in lot

The food is really good. Burgers are amazing . Love the combo sausage and beef and I like to put hot oil on with gravy on the side, .Don't forget the cheese fries and ketchup. The hotdog is always good. And the salads and bread are good And they have Portillo's gift cards buy $100 and you get 20 you have to make sure to use it after Christmas sometime by March for the bonus cards . Management is service oriented some of the staff is a work in progress.

Fridge! Da Bears could really use you buddy!

Ordered the #1, a smaller Italian beef, small fries and small soft drink. The sandwich was good not like it has been in the past, it was drier and didn't have as much of a dip as I like. Asked for the rendered sweet green peppers and received the smallest amount of peppers I've ever seen. Two tiny pieces. French fries were good and hot. There was no diet coke in either dispenser. The ice tea offering was weak, watery and lacked flavor. Coke is the better pairing. Overall, a below average experience.

Came here to try the famous hot dogs and enjoyed it. It's definitely a great place to eat. Quick service which is great.

A must try for Chicago traditions. Fast food with a local touch. The beef sandwich and the hot dog are the stars.

We drive past Grill House all the time, it has been in Northbrook for a long time (I just found out…read morethat it's been here for 9 years), however, this was the first time that we ever visited, and I am happy that we finally did! My husband and I wanted a quick and good dinner one Sunday recently, and we picked Grill House after I read some good reviews on Yelp.  Although it's a casual, fast-food-style restaurant, the menu is surprisingly extensive, with a wide variety of healthy Greek dishes. It was definitely helpful to look over their menu online before we visited, because the menu board inside could be a bit overwhelming.  I guess I still looked quite confused when I saw 2 kiosks in front of the ordering counter.  A staff behind the counter offered to help, and I just ordered directly with him.  Later of the evening I discovered that he's the friendly owner Gus. After placing our order at the counter, we were given a table number, and our food was delivered promptly.  I ordered a Chicken Souvlaki Plate ($17.50 at the time, it's now listed online for $18), while my husband ordered a Filet Mignon Souvlaki Plate ($25.50).  Each souvlaki plate included a soup or salad, rice and potato (1 piece), a side of veggies, and pita bread in a paper bag.  It was a generous amount of food! We both chose the lentil soup, which was served piping hot in a nice ceramic bowl with a lid. It was flavorful and comforting. My chicken souvlaki was tender and juicy, never dry, and both the rice and potato were delicious. We were both impressed with the quality and value of the meal. I ordered a lemonade, which is considered a fountain drink ($4.00) and comes with free refills, though I couldn't even finish my first glass. My husband would have ordered a glass of wine if we hadn't had plans afterward, so we were happy to see that Grill House also serves beer and wine for a future visit. The service was another highlight. Everyone was warm and welcoming; a special shout-out to Kevin, who was very attentive and checked in on us several times.  When I was taking photos around the restaurant, the owner Gus greeted me again, which was a nice personal touch. The restaurant itself was bright, clean, and inviting. There's also a pleasant patio for those who prefer to dine outdoors. We will definitely be back to try more dishes from their extensive menu.  I am glad that we finally gave Grill House a try!

The beer is consistently solid, the food is better than you'd expect from a brewery, and the atmosphere makes it dangerously easy to say, "Just one more," three or four times. My only complaint? I keep hoping they'll make a West Coast IPA a permanent tap instead of making me wait for one to show up. Consider this my completely unbiased campaign to make that happen. Until then, I'll just have to suffer through drinking all the other great beers they make. Highly recommend.

There was street parking available out front for us, but I could imagine parking would be tougher during the warmer months! This spot was fairly simple inside, with a variety of tables, exposed brewing machinery, and loosely golf-themed decor. The service was friendly and efficient, even though the space was pretty busy with a trivia night happening. We ordered two beers: their Schwarz beer and a Hazy IPA! Both tasted great. We also ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and the Cheesesteak, which both came with a lovely serving of fries. The sandwiches were very tasty and the accompanying sipping sauces (Hot Honey and Chipotle Aioli) were awesome! Overall, a wonderful, no-frills spot for a bite and a sip! Nothing to blow your socks off, but also not much to critique! We would definitely return!
