My new favorite sandwich shop on the East Coast. I found some discrepancies while using the app though. For example, if you try to order a combo and get a waterbottle with it, the store staff will tell you it's fountain drink only. I found this out at several locations. You may be better off ordering in person so that there are no communication mishaps when ordering through the app. I found that when ordering throug the app, they will only make the sandwich and you will have to follow up on your chips and drink once you come in person. read more

I ordered a Mediterranean veggie sandwich around 12:30pm yesterday. There was a line but it moved quickly. The crew members were efficient and friendly. Thursdays are double point days--why go any other day! There's plenty of indoor seating (and outdoor seating on warm days). I wish I could give 0 star here. Horrible experience ever! I have a limited lunch break, so I ordered online in advance to pick up my food about 25 minutes ago. When I arrived, my order wasn't ready. I asked someone about it, but the person was very rude, seemingly angry, and unfriendly. She clearly didn't want to engage with me. Another staff member came over to check on my order. After a few minutes, he handed me my sandwich. I explained that I ordered in advance because I didn't have enough time, but the woman interrupted me, saying they were busy. I understand that it was rush hour, but 25 to 30 minutes is too long to wait. They failed to deliver my order on time, and they didn't apologize or make an effort to assist me; instead, they offered me cookies in an unfriendly tone. After this frustrating experience, I left the store and told them I wouldn't be returning. She responded with a dismissive comment, saying it was okay, as they would have "one less customer." That was a very rude way to respond instead of offering an apology. When I checked my sandwich, I noticed that it was missing avocado, and they had added mayo without my request. I only come here for lunch to punish myself. For some godforsaken reason, they try to do the Chick-fil-A line thing where they take your order ahead of time. Except they aren't Chick-fil-A. So they screw it up every time. Even if it worked, it wouldn't make the sandwiches come out faster because they have one oven. Best way to eat here is just walk in and take a random to go order. I ordered a egg and cheese on a flatbread to go. There was no one in line ahead of me, and I was able to place the order quickly. But then I had to wait 10 minutes to get the sandwich and go. I was fine with waiting if it was a good sandwich, but when I got to my office I saw that it was just slapped together. The bread was not even buttered or warm or toasted. The eggs and cheese were warm and melted so I just ate them without the bread. I felt like I did not get a good value for my money. This is not what I expect from Potbelly. I ordered A WRECK which is their signature of salami, angus roast beef, oven roasted turkey, hickory smoked ham with melted swiss cheese topped with fresh lettuce, tomato and mayo on multigrain. I went most of the way minus pickles. Some sandwiches want those pickles but I wasn't feeling it today. Overall the sandwich was very good and satisfying. As I am not from the area, it was a sight to see all the variations of Zapps chips available. At home, we unfortunately don't have that luxury but I am a fan of Zapps so it was definitely a welcome surprise. Good food. Service was not overly friendly - it wasn't mean, it was indifferent. We arrived for late lunch (2:00-ish) and only stopped here for location convenience. Last week it was the first time I wend to Potbelly for a lunch with my colleague. While I was waiting for my turn an executive started taking orders through a tab asking us to try the new sandwich. Now because it was my first time I did try the new one but people who come here often know what to order. She was still asking people to try it which was making them uncomfortable. Coming back to sancwhich, I tried half sandwich half salad option. Chicken was tendered and juicy. The veggies felt fresh and sauces were great. Overall, I loved the sandwich and salad. Also, if you go back next day then you get some discount by showing last day receipt. Its a good strategy to make a loyal customer. The only problem is that they should focus on keeping the restaurant clean which is a part of customer service. read more

This review makes me really sad to write, because I've loved Potbelly's since my Uni days in Chicago. But today I ordered the Turkey Breast & Swiss, and it was just such a disappointment. At $4.70, I sat eating my not delicious sandwich feeling sad about the good ole days - missing the better quality turkey, the crisp (not soggy) lettuce, the red (not pinkish white tomatoes), and the olden days when vegetables took up 3/4 the sandwich, versus the now - where we're drowning in low quality, slippery, slimy, insubstantial meat "products". This is not food, and I don't like eating it. #MichaelPollan #FoodInc I found myself wondering, have they even raised their prices since I was in college? If not, how do they accommodate for inflation? How have they offset costs with rising employee wages and leasing prices? I don't think they've raised their prices. Which (if true) means the only way they've stayed in the black is to cut quality. And I dislike low quality ingredients. This is an easy fix. Raise prices and use higher quality ingredients. Because my sandwich was gross. Rating Rational: Two (instead of one) stars for service only. Nostalgia doesn't win stars if you're selling food (and nutrition / public health). Solution: Corporate could explore joining Chipotle, Panera, and countless others in support of antibiotic-free / anti-growth-hormone-free meats. The quality of ingredients is on the low end. Both visits involved mistakes in the order. The service/staff were friendly.

First place I went to for lunch in DC, because we had no idea what else to eat. What did I think of it? It was okay. Maybe it was the sandwich, maybe it was just how I was feeling at the moment. (I'm going to guess though that it was definitely the sandwich I ordered) I think Potbelly is definitely a place where I would come back over and over until I knew what I wanted and not standing in line and wasting everyone's time that's behind me. Because obviously this place has something going for them, I just have to know what. I ordered the Pizza Sandwich, which was okay. The sandwich didn't really give me the feeling of "That was an amazing sandwich" as a lot of people think of Potbelly. As I said, maybe if I went back here numerous times and found myself a nice sandwich that I enjoy it will be that 4-5 star range. I have been to this Potbelly a handful of times and the main recurring factor is essentially everyone who works here either 1. Doesn't understand the rewards program or 2. Doesn't care about it. So I went in for a free sandwich and they told me the one I ordered didn't qualify. I said ok I will pay an up charge. They refused. They said oh just use it next time. I'm sure you know about the sandwiches. The good news: Potbelly also serves salads. The bad news: They really aren't very good. I like the Potbelly salad concept, which is to dump a serving of their meats and cheeses, plus tomatoes, peppers, artichoke hearts and other exciting things onto a bed of lettuce with a fairly tangy vinaigrette. But there's only so excited I can get about a bowl of iceberg lettuce-- whatever you've done to it-- and the salads are on the small side too. That said, I still find myself trying to order them instead of the sandwiches-- not because the sandwiches aren't good, but because it's a way to avoid the leaden feeling in my stomach that comes from eating a warm wreck or Italian sandwich for lunch too often. Once upon a time I would have been very excited to work down the street from a Potbelly, but now, you can better salads at Best Sandwich or Chop't and better sandwiches at Best Sandwich or Breadline. Well, it is a chain restaurant - so what you see/get here is the same as what you'd see/get at any other Potbelly's. The good part, however, is the location. Also, the fact that it has a corner spot with huge floor-to-ceiling windows that allow in a lot of natural light (and of course allow for people-watching!) It's a convenient corner that is walking distance from either one of the Farragut stations (for access to blue/orange and red lines). It gets pretty busy during the lunch hour - due to the high density of office buildings in the area - but clears out after the work crowds go home. read more

Came here to grab a bite before I DJ . Staff are very pleasant. Prices are reasonable I got the grilled chicken and drink for 8 bucks. The sandwich is actually tasty! I got the original size and its filling so don't go big unless you are very hungry. Free Wifi. Place is very clean. Nice atmosphere not noisy or over crowded (It's Sunday ) . I'm sure they get very busy during the week considering the location. Good spot to grab a bite and get a window seat to eat and enjoy the street view. This Potbelly near my office is always busy but that is never standing between me and their fast in-and-out service and consistently tasty sandwiches. Milkshakes are a great option too. I like that my order is usually taken as I enter the line allowing my sandwich to get started before I reach the counter. My review is simple. I like the sandwiches and the service always delivers. I'm not a huge sandwich fan, so a place whose name makes fun of my stomach AND has the word "sandwich" in it doesn't attract me much. BUT, that said, I don't mind coming here. They've added salads to their menu, which I haven't tried yet, but that will also encourage me to come more often. I've never ordered one of the gigantic specialty sandwiches, because they, well, they're just too special for me. I've had a couple of custom sandwiches, though, and they are decent. I had their chili once, which was okay (a little sweet). Mostly, I like the Key Lime soda they have, and I really appreciate their efficiency. I don't usually go to lunch until after one. There is still a line here, but it usually only takes five minutes to get through the line and pay. Not a huge burden. Plus, they have the long bar at the window for us single diners to sit at and watch the passers-by. read more

Because of the line, they have someone taking orders before you get to the counter. Confusingly, the order I placed was never passed on, and I had to restate my request. If your going to have someone write it down the first time, maybe help prepare while I am waiting 5 minutes. The chicken salad salad I got was actually pretty good. The extra salad in the name is to differentiate it from a chicken salad sandwich. Nevertheless, it was made fast, had a good chunck of chicken in it, and $7 later, I am out the door. Now, I've always been a fan of Pot Belly's, but I've never lived or worked quite close enough to be a regular at any particular location... until now. Working across the street has proven to be quite a challenge, as Pot Belly's loaded baked potato soup calls out to me every Wednesday and Thursday (while I would enjoy it, it's probably a good thing that they don't serve it every day). I absolutely love Pot Belly's. I get a Wreck on wheat (yes, with the swiss cheese... no provolone substitutions for this girl) and if I'm there on a Wednesday or Thursday, I add a cup of their baked potato soup (which is probably a heart attack in a cup, but it's delicious - so at least I'd die happy). For $7.57 I get a nice big sandwich (extra peppers please) and a cup of soup... and I'm the happiest clam you'll find in Northwest. The best part about this location? The people. Staff is friendly and patient (for the most part, I got one sourpuss once) and they're efficient - the place is almost always packed, but you never have to wait long. Love it. I recommend it and think I'm going to head down there in about an hour if anyone would like to have lunch. read more

Okay, they're not bad sandwiches, but I'll be damned if I'm waiting in line for food. Maybe if I was up for some sort of USSR nostalgia trip... My friend and I like Potbelly, but we always get there by 11:30 so there's never a line. From noon until 2, the line goes out the door. So get here early. Granted, we were in and out in maybe 10 minutes, tops. That's not too bad. They have a guy work the line and take sandwich orders, so by the time you get to the counter, they're stacking sandwiches right and left. I've only had the Italian and the Wreck, but they're both quite tasty. My only real beef (no pun intended) is that the sandwiches could stand to be just a little bigger. Maybe add an extra half-sandwich lenth to the rolls. The verdict: while they're quite tasty, they're not like the typical sub you'd get in anywhere in NJ or NY. Still, when you consider that your other sandwich choices are usually Subway or Quiznos, it's really not even a contest. The whole "Subway experience" is like punishment for breaking some sort of oath. Quiznos is the new Subway, only mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm toasted. Big whoop. read more

I lurve me some Potbelly - of course in moderation so I don't get one. It's been so long since I've had one (not many in NYC) but now I work right near this location. The service is friendly and super quick. Long line at lunch? No problem - you'll still be in and out in under 10 minutes. I love the grilled chicken and cheddar and their chocolate oatmeal cookies mmmm My only gripe is that I ran in before a morning client meeting to quickly grab breakfast. I saw a sign in their window for parfaits and thought 'perfect!' but then found out they don't have them at this location. It's also on their menu. Why promote it if you don't sell them? read more

Well, all Potbellys (Potbellies?) are pretty much the same, so this location is also cheap, clean, and serves the best cookies ever. They are pretty quick at making your sandwich, though I would recommend having an idea of what to order ahead of time because the menu placement does not really allow for loitering. I recommend the Toasty Turkey BLT if it's still around. The tuna is also pretty good (much better than Subway's which is, granted, an incredibly low bar). The sandwiches tend to be dry, however, so if you are deciding whether to get mayo/mustard, the answer is yes. If you don't like too much bread, you can get a "flat" which I have never done but have appreciated the option. As for prices, this place is cheap. I mean, a boxed sandwich at Pret a few doors down is $6.49, and a bigger, non-boxed sandwich at Potbelly is $5.79. Which means that you have little extra to spend on a cookie and/or a shake. I would recommend the Oreo shake. As for the cookies, I am the first to hate on a sugar cookie (I mean, really, what's the point when it doesn't have chocolate chips) but Potbelly's sugar cookies hit it out of the park. The oatmeal choc. chip and the chocolate brownie cookie are also predictably delicious. Unfortunately, they sometimes run out of cookie options toward the end of the day/night, but it's ok because you can't lose no matter what you get. For those strict devotees to the all-important "Food per Dollar ratio", it's tough to beat Potbelly. "Regular" sandwiches are~5 bucks and "Bigs" are ~6 bucks If you're hungry, probably get a "Big" - my favorite is the "Wreck," which comes with turkey, roast beef, salami, ham, and cheese, but I really like the chicken salad too). Regardless, add hot peppers! The sandwiches are pretty large. In a head-to-head comparison with Subway, the prices are better, you get more meat, and the quality is better. These aren't the best sandwiches in the world, but they are good for "fast food" / chain sandwiches, and definitely good for the price. They are ultra-efficient - during the lunch rush, they take orders as you get in line, and have the sandwiches ready when you arrive at the counter. The longest lines won't take more than 5, maybe 10 minutes. I used to go 2, sometimes 3 times per week, but have scaled it way back since. Got a little tired of it, and realized that, with a name like "POTBELLY," I may want to be careful. read more

I'm proud to say that Potbellys is from Chicago! It was rated best Sandwich place in DC for 2009 and I completely agree. I even get Potbellys cravings sometimes. The meat, bread, cheese, chopped lettuce.. even the service is great! I always get the Wreck because you get a lot of meat. The new Clubby is good too. But I've tried almost everything and it's all good. For dessert, the cookies are soft, chewy, and chocolaty. The extra calories, fat, and sugar for an ice cream sandwich are worth it! This is one of my staple "I'm in a rush, and I'm hungry" lunch places. It's consistent and the line although often long, moves fast. Too fast if you're a newbie at ordering, because they'll typically ask for your order in a matter of seconds after you get in line. It's tasty, filling and cheap, and everyone from the order taker to the checkout guy is fast. I love the peppers because they're actually hot (if a little oily). The salads which have recently been added are decent but a little boring compared to their main fare. If you're at Potbelly, just indulge and get yourself a malt shake or a cream soda. The decor is old-timey and fun enough and they usually have a "busker" singing and playing generic guitar tunes inside to add some atmosphere while you wait.
