My friends and I came here on a Wednesday afternoon. They had open seats but it was apparent they were understaffed as it took a while for someone to seat us. The menu is extensive ranging from sushi, hot pot, hibachi and even ramen. Since the goal for the day was hot pot, that was whah we opted for. I always like to try their watermelon slushes but was not a fan of theirs as it was partially real water the rest was artificial syrup. As much as I wanted to enjoy it I just couldn't get over the fake after taste that would be left in my mouth. Our broths were half Tom yum and beef tomato. Being a part of four, we ordered the beef lovers and seafood supreme plates along with the included two plates of veggies. The complementary veggies included corn, Napa cabbage, bok choy, daikon and tomatoes. I'm a huge fan of needing a crunch when eating, so we ordered extra sides of enoki mushroom and corn. Overall, I had a good experience. Because they were severely understaffed, it took an extra 30 minutes to leave to get the check and pay. First time here, and ready for dinner. The ambiance was okay, a little dark, fairly quiet. Not a bad environment. A party was having a birthday party towards the back of the restaurant. It seemed like they were having a great time. I entered optimist and excited for the experience. However, our seating server didn't seem very friendly about seating us. Once seated we waited about 30 minutes for others (2 people) to be seated and our orders to be taken. Prior to this we were served our drinks and soup and salad. We received no water until we asked for some. However, the party next to us received water drinks and soup and salad promptly. We found this very interesting. Our chef ‍ is what saved this review from being a one. Our chef was great! Very engaging and attentive. Our server however never returned. Our chef removed our soup and salad bowls, which were then removed by the other parties server. Our food was good, and very filling. We had enough for leftovers. Our visit took an additional left turn when we received the bill. Our total was as expected, until we saw an additional 15% added to the bill by hand. We inquired what the fee was for. We were told it was because the bill was over $100 dollars, and was a tip for the chef. We asked to see this written on the menu. It could not be shown and was removed from our bill. We tipped our chef in cash, and left a small tip for the server. Our chef was the only person that thanked us for coming and wished us a good night. Upon leaving, I almost slipped down, due to the front entry floors being oily, which caused my canes to slip often. My party assisted me, to make sure I didn't fall. Normally I love this place. The food is great and it's always a great time. Last night our party of 6 people including 2 kids, showed up for our 6:30pm reservation. At 7:00 we asked if there was going to be much more of a wait. The hostess said oh we can do this table over here, but you guys would be separated. We figured it might not be that big of a deal and asked to see the table. When we got there, there was seating for three, a huge pole and then seating for two that they went to grab a chair to add. This added spot you wouldn't have even been able to see the chef cooking hibachi, which is kind of the whole point. Since we were there as a family and didn't want to split the kids up, we asked if we could wait for another table. We were told no it would be a really long wait. At the table next to us there was a group that was finishing up and we asked if we could move over to that spot and were told no that spot is for 8 people and we only have 6. We asked to speak to management since it clearly seemed our reservation got lost in the mix of the busy night and nobody was willing to help us out. Went there tonight and loved it! Filet mignon was amazing. They were good cuts of steak and were cooked nicely. (MR was more like MR+ and R was closer to MR with our chef) We liked the shrimp. Salad was good. Veggies were very good. The only negative was the soup to start. My wife hated hers (I am allergic so I did not try it). Overall though, it was great. We came in around 8:45p for hotpot on a Sunday evening. They close their kitchen at 9p and were still very accommodating despite our late entry. Our server who was a young man was very kind and easy going. The broth was great; we tried kimchi and Chinese herbal. Although I love spicy food, Chinese herbal is always my go-to and theirs did not disappoint. Seafood was fresh and veggie plates were plentiful. It was 3 of us and we ate down to the last drop. Food and service have definitely gone downhill. I haven't been here for about a year and usually order takeout. I decided to order takeout again because I was close by. When I went to go pickup my order, there was know-one at the host stand so I went to the bar because I saw the bartender leaning up against the bar texting on his phone. I went up and told him I was picking up a to-go order and wondered if he could help me. He looked at me with a bothered look and told me to go to the host stand and then picked his phone back up and proceeded to text. I called to see if they were doing hibachi at the table (previously they were not due to restrictions) and they had me make a reservation... just for me to come in and tell me that there're no tables and it's a 20-30 minute wait -- that ended up being 45 minutes. I don't mind waiting but unfortunate that they had me make a reservation and not honor it. They then had us put our name and number to call us but didn't. We eat at different hibachi places frequently (more than one) and always get a satisfying amount of veggies, not here. First we got Edamame (My new obsession) and it was great - PERFECTLY salted. A Crazy Maki Roll - which was also good. For the Shabu: We ordered Meat Combo 1 (which was more than enough for 2) Mushroom Variety Side Corn Side ( I like Corn) She gave us a Free New Fungus they were offering Variety Meat Balls (wish they were marked so we knew which was which) Vermicelli (Bad Idea) Jumbo Shrimp We had the Beef Stock that comes free and then TomYum Thai Season (it was SOOO perfectly Spicy if you like spice) The vermicelli was the only down side - It instantly clumped and was unable to eat easily (next time Id try Rice) When she brought over all the sauces/Garlic/Peppers she even explained how to mix & make sauces, she was very helpful & we will DEF come back - with all the Ala Carte choices we assumed the bill would be crazy high but suprisingly not... We were there tonight for my moms birthday ( who passed away in December). The waitress came over to us three diff times in front of my whole family complaining about an 17 percent tip! I have been going here for years now and always used to love it. Went here for Father's Day with my children and we will never return! We sat at the hibachi had a wonderful show and were eating while the chef was finishing up the other couples meals. We all got the same vegetables & fried rice with different meats cooked at different temperatures. The meat and rice were wonderful and while we were eating the vegetables we were all making conversation with the chef and focusing on him (we noticed a slightly odd flavor in our veggies but just thought it was part of the sauce or maybe the mushrooms hadn't been washed thoroughly). Then once he finished cooking and cleaning the grill the girl next to us at our table found a cigarette butt half smoked in her vegetables. This instantly made everyone at the table lose our appetite. The chef remade her plate but she still had to demand to speak to the manager before anyone came over. Once the manager came over he hushed her up and kept going but never came to speak to my husband or I about the fact that they were all cooked together and he had let them feed my minors nicotine. They handed me the check and then I asked for the manager. The waitress insisted that he discounted the check and everything was fine (he had only taken $15 off and still wanted us to pay over $100 for contaminated food we didn't eat not to mention he made my kids sick from eating nicotine). The manager finally came over and said he discounted the check and would have a new chef come remake our plates to which I responded (loudly at this point because I was pissed that my kids were feeling sick from this) "you fed my kids nicotine I am not paying you over $100's!". He left and came back a few mins later to inform us everyone at our table was covered. The manager sucks and tried to blame our chef (who didn't prep the veggies) but it was really the prep cook's fault. Even though he covered our bill I will still be making a complaint to the board of health for the simple fact that the manager didn't seem to care that he was feeding children poison. read more

The host lady in the hoodie is extremely rude. We went in the restaurant at 11.35AM on Sunday 6/18/2023 (today) as the restaurant has the sign saying they are opened at 11.30AM. Once we walked in, the host stared at us blank so we asked if you are opened. She screamed at us saying not open not open!! So, we asked what time will you be opened but she kept screaming not open and trying to rush us off the door. So, I asked could you tell me what time you are open today and so yelled at me "12!" and tried to rush me out. So, I pointed at the sign on the door that shows opening time at 11.30AM. Tonight we stopped in at this restaurant to celebrate a few family birthdays. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by a polite hostess, but found out that the reservations we had made yesterday was never entered into the book. That was the start of a great experience... We ended up being a group of six for hibachi. Once our group arrived we ordered drinks, appetizers and our meals. Our appetizers were slow to arrive and I ended up getting my sushi at least fifteen minutes after everyone else got theirs. As I scanned the restaurant it became obvious that they forgot to make my sushi and scrambled to put it together once they realized. When it came time for dinner, the table that arrived half of an hour after us had their meal started before ours. As we sat and watched them dine, we waiting almost an hour for our meal to be cooked. Since it was the table connected to our grill, we saw that the staff had fudged the tickets and prioritized them first. When our hibachi chef finally arrived he was great. His name was Kevin and he actually put on a good show. That was the only plus. The food was bland, the sauces were off, and the overall quality was lacking. After our meal was over, we were rushed out the door (not asked if we wanted desert) plus the fact that there was an already added 18% gratuity. This experience did not warrant 18% and that is coming from someone who worked in a kitchen and lived off tips. In the end, what an awful experience and what a terrible attempt at customer service. Hibachi inside the mall! I've been meaning to eat here for quite a while. After doing some shopping at the Square One Mall on a Monday night, I decided to have a sit down dinner at Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse. I requested to be seated for hibachi and I was the first guest at the hibachi grill. I waited for about 10 minutes (I placed my dinner order quickly) before seven more diners arrived and were seated at my hibachi (teppanyaki) table-now we could get down to business! Another 10 minutes, the other diners placed their orders and 5 minutes after that, we were served salads (iceberg lettuce, cucumber, carrot and tangy ginger dressing) and Japanese onion soup (chicken broth, onions, mushrooms), which were both good. The hibachi chef arrived soon after with the cart of ingredients for the meals, dished out the dipping sauces, and heated up the grill. The chef was very animated and funny, banging the spatulas on the grill, juggling eggs, flaming onion tower, and doing other tricks. The hibachi fried rice was prepared first, then meats & seafood items were grilled next, and finally the grilled vegetables. He even squirted sake into the mouths of a few adult diners, but I declined. The chef was cooking at our table for about 25 minutes from start to finish, a nice job well done! As for the food, I enjoyed the Bonsai Scallops ($18.95), which were soft and tender topped with teriyaki sauce & sesame seeds. The fresh mixed vegetables consisted of broccoli, carrots, onions, mushrooms, & zucchini (no sprouts). The fried rice (add $1.95) consisted of soft rice, peas, carrots, and egg. The 3 grilled shrimp (appetizer) were tender and firm. Overall, the meal I had was very good, fresh, and flavorful. I really enjoy hibachi especially on a normal weeknight (not Fri) when the place is not crowded and noisy. The service was adequate here. I was given a refill (by request) for the hot tea ($1) during dinner and the check was presented in timely fashion as I finished my meal. read more
