They recently relocated the Pottery Barn in Brea Mall and was super excited to drop by. I am a huge fan of their candles and drink ware collection. Unfortunately, the sales people probably think they work at a high end store as they literally ignore every customer that walks in. Come on, the people at South Coast has 100% better service than this small location in the "other end of the O.C. ". At least, acknowledge the people that walks in or walk right in front of you. 2 staff were walking around bypassing customers while trying to look busy. One other appeared to be on their cell phone, while another was seated talking to another staff. The outside of the store looks like Lowe's setup. . Not loving this at all. I am hoping to see some improvement in the near future. read more

We went to the Pottery Barn to looked at their Benchwright buffet. We were very lucky that they had a floor model marked down to half price. It was in very good shape. Looking around we found an Eagan Round Multipanel wall mirror that matched and complemented the buffet. Overall, our shopping experience was very good. The employee that helped us was not pushy and let us take out time in deciding whether to make the purchase. Pottery barn furniture is very solid and durable. Of course you pay for this. We got lucky as one item was half price and the other was on sale. The only issue with Pottery Barn is that everything you buy has to be delivered and the delivery costs can be very high. read more

My husband and I were looking for a blanket and I was so excited to buy it. This occurred this Thursday, 10/16 at 12:00 p.m. There were about three employees who never acknowledged me or my husband. Also being an interracial couple and married for over 25 years. It was so disappointing that even when we were looking separately, not one of the workers said hello, or if I/we needed help. We hope that the company can establish better communication and customer service skills. I really was looking forward to buying pillows and comforters, and yet no one offered to help. Worse customer service ever from a supposed high end furniture retailer. This is our 2nd interaction with this pottery barn location. First interactions We're purchasing something and needed some advice on design. The individual helping us was super dismissive and couldn't care less. No problem we moved on no issues. We buy a few things from the south Cost pottery barn, much better service even though they are busier. We come back to the Brea location to make a couple returns with our receipt within 24 hours of the purchase. We are met with a rude and unhelpful manger who's response to our return is "I can't give you cash back even though you paid cash, anything above $100 we have to send you a check to your house that may take 14 business days. We suggested to make the return over 2 times or 2 transactions so that we can get our cash back. She adamantly refuses and says company policy it's in fine print on the receipt. Fine your sales staff should advise customers before they are spending several hundred dollars that if they are want to make a return they won't be able to receive their cash back, but a check instead in about 14 days. Horrible policy shame on pottery barn and the staff this place. I go on yelp to see the rating they have as a business, surprise surprise 2.5 star rating. You just opened and the public has spoken you suck. All good Crate & Barrel is available, RH is available, Are Hause is available, CB2, even Homegoods. But this establishment no more for me. Buyers be ware you can't get your money back in cash if you paid in cash. Gotta wait 2 weeks for a check in the mail. The worse part of all this is they forgot that customer service and customer satisfaction use to be a paramount aspect of what they do. The hired help at the Brea store were SO RUDE. The blonde employee appeared miffed that she has to stop staring at the computer screen to ring up the lamp I was purchasing As I was waiting for the receipt, the other employee rushed over, looked down her nose at me as she blurts out, "That's a final sale, you can't return it for any reason". The only reason came into that store was to purchase that lamp, if I didn't really want it I would have cancelled the transaction and walked out. My wife and me went to this new Pottery Barn location at the Brea Mall on 9/1/2025 at 12:45 pm to look for pillow covers. The sales associate was showing us the different size, fabric, and colors of covers that were available in-store, and after we did not make an immediate decision, the sales associate said she would be right back. The sales associate NEVER came back but began helping another couple find furniture fabric and styles. So, after 10-15 minutes of waiting, we gathered up the items we wished to purchase and stood within feet of the sales associate who had originally helped us, who was now next to the check-out area. The sales associate completely ignored us and never acknowledged we were standing next to her with the intent to check out. I do realize the sales associate was chasing the potentially higher sales commission with the furniture purchase, but she had established a "relationship" with us and should not have ignored us and pretended not to realize we were attempting to make a purchase. We placed the items next to the check-out area and left. Perhaps, in the future we will have better a customer service experience at Crate & Barrel. read more

What started out as a disaster ended up as a 4-star review. My wife wanted a certain area rug which she decided to order online and pick up at the store (to avoid shipping costs). The Brea location, while not exactly near us, was the closest store that had it available. The day after the order, as we were leaving to drive to Brea, she received an email stating the order had been canceled. She called and was told that they did, in fact, have one rug left but it might not be in perfect condition but we should come and look at it and decide. When we arrived we connected with a sales associate who immediately told us the rug in question was a return and was in imperfect condition and there was no way she would allow it to be sold. I immediately liked her for her honesty but felt we had wasted our time driving there. She then offered to order a new rug and have it shipped to our door - with no cost for the shipping - within a couple days. Nice save - great customer service. We received the rug in only three days and were quite pleased. Aside from our experience, if you come to this small location (next to Nordstrom on the second floor of the mall), you'll find pillows, blankets, rugs, a few furnishings and all sorts of home accessories. read more

Wishing there was a 0 star option. Ordered online for 4 custom Christmas stockings in OCTOBER. To make sure everything would be here in time. They didn't notify us of the back order on the stocking. So we had to constantly call and email. Horrible communication. We received only 3 stockings 2 weeks before Christmas (still late seeing as I ordered in October). Then they sent the WRONG stocking 3 days before Christmas. My son was still missing his stocking and was waiting for his stocking EVERYDAY. Hoping it would get here in time for Santa to stock it. This location has terrible customer service. Here's why: 1. The manager closes the store early. This happened to me while I was shopping more than once. I inquired about several items and was told they didn't have them, even though they never looked. I sensed that I was being refused service bc they were closing. Another woman was knocking on the glass door and made a comment about it closing an hour later to which the sales rep replied "we are closing early." I certainly felt the pressure to leave, so I did. 2. They don't accept online returns. If you buy online, expect to not be able to return the items in store, minus small accessories. I was surprised to find out, after walking through the mall with a large heavy box, that online returns have to be mailed back. Originally, the manager stated she couldn't accept the return. Then, after calling CS, I found out that it's at her discretion. In few words, she stated that it was an inconvenience for her. 3. Low stock- if you see it in the store, expect to buy it online. They likely don't have it and will encourage you to buy online. It defeats the point of shopping in person! 4. Most staff are uninterested in helping. There is one staff member that is great and I wish I knew her name but my experience with managers, Ingrid & Jennifer, has been terrible. When they are there I feel like I'm living the scene out of pretty woman with the rude service reps. They act like they are doing me a favor and are less than interested in helping. I'd paid cash and couldn't get my money back on a return with a receipt Today I visited the Pottery Barn store in the Brea mall to return a set of drapes that just didn't look right. I had the receipt and the items were unopened and in their original packaging. The return started out smoothly, but when it came time to pay me they wouldn't give me my cash back and instead offered me a store credit or a check that would be be mailed in 7-10 business days. They explained that they don't keep much money on hand for security reasons. I found this odd since Pottery Barn is a well known and and carrying a small amount of money could potentially limit transactions. We pointed that had we broken the return up into two separate returns that it wouldn't have been a problem to give us our cash back in the manner we paid. Erin the store manager said it was Store policy not to give cash back over $100. I found this ridiculous because most things in the store are over $100. Have you ever heard of a Pottery Bsrn being robbed? My wife agreed that Erin was not empathetic at the least and certainly made us feel unappreciated. We also noticed that while we waited to speak with Erin she was on the phone handling another customer complaint. Service like this, or the lack of it, could explain the stores 2 star Yelp rating! Theses an old saying that goes "Buyer Beware" When I was unable to find any mention of this on my receipt or had this Thule of inconvenience sprung upon me before. I had never purchased furniture or home decor from Pottery Barn. I purchased a new home and decided to give them a try. I cannot begin to tell you how much I regret it. I don't know how they stay in business. I simply purchased a headboard and a bed frame. The headboard was not delivered as promised. I received an e-mail on the day it was supposed to be delivered, stayed home, received updates via the internet stating it was on its' way. After waiting all day, I checked the website and it simply said, "cancelled" and provided a number to call. I phoned and was told it was never on the truck in the first place. No one (including a supervisor) could explain how it happened. It took numerous phone call generated by me (not them) to finally get it delivered. The bed frame never arrived. Apparently, it was never in stock. I will share with you the story of two lamps I purchased only to have one arrive inoperable. They wouldn't send a new one until I returned the old one. I was willing to purchase a new one and have my account credited when they received the damaged one. Customer service said they didn't know how to process that request. I was told the new one would be here in November, then I received an e-mail saying it would arrive in December. Last night I received a new e-mail stating it will arrive in February 2021. This is a matching set. Something tells me I will never receive it. This is the first time I have posted a negative review on Yelp. That tells you how poorly I think of this business. read more

I tried to return a makeup organizer mirror that is made for teens but unfortunately the worker said she can't accept a big return! The mirror is only 14" wide and 17.5" high... Their website says I can go to any store to return the item but the worker did not want to help at all. I've always liked Pottery Barn's style. Rustic-chic-modern, if that's possible. One of the things that I'm not a fan of is that they are typically much higher prices. Is the quality worth it? Eh, I think it depends on who lives in the house that would have such items. If someone has 4 kids under 8, then this probably wouldn't be the best store for that. If it's someone with 4 fur-kids, then this probably wouldn't be the best store for that. The quality is good, but it's meant to be purchased with the intention that the item will be well-taken care of. While browsing, there have always been key items that I would want to buy, but cannot reasonably put out that kind of money for that sort of item. For example, hubby and I would love one of those bars with the comfortable bar stools. But, they are very heavy and it would be difficult to move it if we were to move out of our current place. Or, I would love one of those blankets, as it's super-soft and very warm. But a triple-digit blanket is sort of pushing it, when I can just put on two blankets purchased from Costco. This past weekend, I finally saw something that I couldn't really give up on. Large box, beautiful ice blue color. It was already on sale, but I could apply an additional 15% on it. Bingo! Saved a buttload of money and, when I did my research online about the particular box, definitely worth it. Plus, the design variation that Pottery Barn has made it look so much better. So, Pottery Barn is a place I would love to browse and get ideas for styling the home, but it takes a lot for me to finally purchase something. Love their stuff! read more

Poor customer service. No personality or interest to help a buyer make a purchase. The lady who works in the custom area, does not even greet you unless you interrupt her. The front counter people say hello but then randomly disappear. NO ONE wants to help the customer. This is very sad since not all of us like to shop on line. In one of my most recent trips to Brea Mall, I decided to stop into Pottery Barn to take a look at some of the goods they offer. Prior to this day I do not recall ever having step foot into a Pottery Barn before and if the service they provide on a daily basis is the same service I received it will be the last. The first thing I noticed upon walking into the store was the significant number of workers throughout the store, however not a single worker during my visit acknowledged any guests who entered. I slowly walked from end to end perusing the household goods stopping at a few to see the pricing when out of the corner of my eye see that I am being followed by worker who is about 5 feet behind peering around a corner. Now my first impression was that they were waiting for me to take a gander at something and then would come up in their best sales pitch and do everything they could to persuade you into making the purchase. This was not the case with me as this continued throughout the entire stay in the store. Around every aisle, corner or alcove the same worker continued to sneak around behind me as if they were a ninja, watching and waiting as if I was going to steal their precious items. The store itself is large and chock full of household goods (albeit a bit expensive) and I admit I did see a couple of things that caught my eye on more than one occasion. Despite the items appealing to me and me stopping to look at several I was never asked if I had questions, offered any help or guidance whatsoever and was simply stalked throughout the store as if I were some sort of aspiring thief just waiting for my opportune moment to strike. Despite the well crafted and attractive style furnishings offered here with the sheer lack of service and the shady workers who stalk you throughout the store like your a common thief I can honestly say I will never step foot in this place again. Last June, 2021 (yes, you read that correctly) I placed a very large order ($28,317.47) for furniture with Pottery Barn in Brea. It had to be place in two orders because they don't have the technology to take a credit card and a check in the same order. Unbelievable, I know. I used one of their design specialists to help me. Her design skills were awesome! After seven long months, in January and February of this year I had two delivery appointments. Some things arrived damaged. One has been exchanged, and the others I've heard nothing about. I returned a rug and pad with the drivers of the first delivery. I changed my mind about it. No refund yet from that ($766.40 paid by check that has been cashed). The floor lamp I ordered, that has been paid for by the same check, has never been delivered ($479.20). These have been brought to attention of the delivery people, and also my designer. I've even written the President of Pottery Barn two weeks ago, but have heard nothing. I'm at the point where I will let the damaged stuff slide (so sad), but I want my rug/pad refund and my floor lamp. Pottery Barn (the company) is all about the sale...friendly, attentive, available, helpful. But once you've paid, they disappear off the face of the earth. I know it's COVID. I know everything is more difficult, and taking longer. I understand...it's affected all of us. But I feel I've been more than patient, lenient about my concerns, and waited long enough. I absolutely love Pottery Barn items! I searched for a king bedroom set for a while and saw the Sumatra storage bed online and fell in love. I drove to Brea to see if they had it on display, which they did. I was simply going to look at it since I don't like purchasing large items before looking at them. I walked in and was greeted by Teri. I told her what I was looking for and she gave me a few options. I wasn't ready since it was a bit pricey and wanted to visit other furniture stores before making my decision. Well, she followed up with a very nice email, which was surprising. I finally made my decision and called her to make sure she'd be there the day of my purchase. Upon delivery, there was an issue with one of the items and I immediately emailed Teri and she was happy to help to rectify my concern. Every time I stop by or email her she's ready to help. It's been amazing working with her. The customer service she provides is a breath of fresh air. And I love my new bedroom set.
