I have used this store primarily for returning items I have purchased online, but I did purchase a throw for the living room here in the last year. Service has been impeccable...never a problem, friendly, efficient. This is a review of an online purchase...I don't have the band width to create another page for this. I was on the hunt to update my living room lighting. I have had very good luck with PB in the past. I wanted to honor the Pantone Color of the year...Cloud. Dancer, a fresh , cool white. I think I nailed it with this Hill Ceramic Lamp. PB has amazing shipping packaging ...my new friend could have made it thru anything its trip had to offer. UPS is their carrier, and I have had good luck with them. PB is not the least expensive, but from my experience offers good quality merchandise. read more

We have been in this location quite a few times. Horrible service. We are usually never greeted and never asked to be helped. A couple of times we have asked for help with a dresser and they said they would be right back, never came! Sadly we went home and spent over 5800 on bedroom furniture. Last week we went back in looking at dining furniture..asked if there was any chance we could maybe deal on shipping if ordering through store, she shook her said no, but didnt offer to help us further to make the sale. What a great experience. A moderately sized location, still, they have lots to choose from, and lots that can be ordered. But what made it "great" are designers Mary & Linda. Super helpful and kind, and offered lots of guidance. The gf and I chose some leather sofas, 2 swivel chairs, and a master bedroom set (from sister company, West Elm, next store). Reported stolen gift cards immediately. The customer service rep failed to complete his computer input. Called back two weeks later, I receive 2 of the stolen cards. Called back a third time was told 2 of the cards had been used 2 weeks after my initial call. Made a 4 call.. was told would send to fraud department and my initial phone was recorded, so they could check it out. I gave the reps name. Go a call today informing me they are not responsible for lost and stolen cards. Ok.. why do you have a number for customers to call if you don't throughly investigate. You were given all the card numbers to stop them. You dropped the ball! And if you not responsible for stolen and lost cards, why did you reissue the other two? Lesson learned here! read more

First, according to Trustpilot the rating for the company dreadful. The furniture is cheap (because its made overseas) and customer service is lacking. My experience with the San Ramon location was similar to the bad reviews below. Management needs an intervention for the staff as they have the worst customer service. A Tesla robot would do better. They are losing sales at this location and I took my business to Room and Board where I got excellent customer service with design and products (sofas, beds, rugs, ect) are high quality crafted in North Carolina, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The system at city center pb is akin to that at other downtown sort of locations. They have a plethora of goodies on display, but cruddy min wage level service and the system for helping customers get merchandise to their vehicles is a joke. The parking situation in the loading area needs to be regulated much more closely so customers wanting to walk in and buy thousands of dollars in merchandise same day can do that without issue. Figure this out pottery barn. And train your salespeople on how to be attentive to customers and help them on their shopping spree. read more

I really wanted to love pottery barn furniture... I bought the entire set for my daughter's nursery. The armoire, the dresser, changing station, the crib and the bow canopy. I ordered this months before my baby was due and her furniture arrived 3 months later than estimated. We paid for the furniture to be assembled in home. Then months later when we had to transition to the lower setting in our crib we realized that two of the nails were stripped and could not be removed. The current crib height wasn't safe for a standing baby and the stripped nails wouldn't let us adjust or redrill to its original setting. I called customer service because their third party built the crib. They apologized and said they would send a replacement. This was back in September 2024. I told them I have my baby sleeping on her mattress on the floor bc we could not break down the current crib. My baby slept on the floor with a makeshift boarder for weeks and still no crib. The crib is finally being delivered today... it's January 4th 2025! For how expensive this furniture is I can't believe it can cause so many headaches. We've spent thousands. Never shopping here again. I ordered a $1,500 chandelier from this store on September 13 which was supposed to be delivered no later than October 16. They charged my credit card on October 22. I still had not received it as of today November 30. There have been no explanations or updates from Pottery Barn. I called customer service and was informed there were production delays and that it finally arrived at the shipment center yesterday. I asked what their policies were regarding order cancellation and refund. This was a question not a cancellation request. They put me on hold for a long time and then informed me they cancelled my order even though I hadn't made the request yet. I will never buy anything from Pottery Barn ever again as long as I roam this Earth. Also the in-person customer service at this store is atrocious. I returned some dishes that I ordered online to this store because I didn't know they were plastic. Turns out Pottery Barn has a fancy term for plastic which I don't recall right now but the lady rudely pointed that out and tried to make me feel like an idiot for not knowing what that term meant. Ordered bed, mattress, pillows, and other stuff for my daughter's bedroom. $300 just for delivery alone. These clowns scheduled delivery appointment but only delivered the mattress. Support said that the couldn't deliver the bed because they didn't find my phone number on file, which is a lie, they found my number for the mattress no problem. So now they offered another delivery date, a week later. The room is empty, the old bed is out. I have to figure out how my daughter is going sleep this week. And there is no apology from their side. I wonder how many horrible reviews in a row this store will have to get before they make some changes in their staff and/or manager? We live in San Ramon and I can't tell you how many THOUSAND of $$ we have spent at Pottery Barn/PB Kids/Williams Sonoma in our 26 years living here. We were pretty excited when these 3 favs of ours opened in the new San Ramon City Center. But today's poor, no TERRIBLE customer service experience has probably pushed us to the point of no longer shopping here. My wife purchased a $99 table runner yesterday that she wanted to try at home...and specifically asked if she would have any problems getting her money back if the runner didn't fit in our decor. Of note is that my wife paid with cash, instead of the usual credit card transaction, because she was using money she got for her 60th birthday this week. She brought the runner home and it didn't quite fit like she hoped, so we rolled it back up in it's original ribbon and she returned it this afternoon, only to be told that they couldn't refund her in cash, that PB would mail her a check. My wife pushed back and ultimately asked to speak to a supervisor. The bottom line is my wife wound up getting her $108 back...in cash, just like she paid. But she had to press the issue way more than any customer should ever have to...and it was refunded to her with a complete attitude, with the manager tossing the receipt on the counter and saying rudely, "give her her money back!" The worst part to me is that no one even took the time to explain why this refund would need to be mailed in the form of a check, when she paid cash. My thoughts are if someone had made this make sense as to why this is a policy, that maybe that would have taken the sting off of the situation. But to be treated the way my wife just was, is simply incredulous to me. We have been Key Rewards members for years....and as I look around our house, and our adult children's homes at all of the PB/PB Kids/Williams Sonoma items we have purchased....it just doesn't make sense to me that these brands have evolved into a "we don't give a crap about our customers and can afford to treat them poorly"....it's a head scratcher to me if this is the brand overall, or just poor management at this location? Thus, I'm leaving this review to save others from the frustration. Also in hopes that someone from PB will actually read this review and take action to make this location start providing the customer experience that loyal customers deserve. But as this now the 8th poor review in a row, without even a single response from management or owners, I fear it's telling a story that this brand has crossed the line into the world of only providing transactional experiences...instead of the experiential one high demographic consumers desire. Overall the service is not great. I ordered a lot of furniture from a designer at the store and overall the experience from Designer was fair. She was friendly and accommodating but not very detail oriented. Once we ordered the furniture A couple of days later I tracked my order and everything was on schedule but I found out a few weeks later my order was canceled for no reason at all. When I found out I called the store in San Ramon and after much investigation on their side came to the conclusion there is no reason why my order was canceled but it was a mistake. After many phone calls with the San Ramon store management was helpful enough to help me escalate it to the issue to the vice president of customer service. Eventually, my new order was expedited but it took a lot of time and honestly there were very little apologies for the absolute disruption for my order being canceled for no reason at all. Pottery Barn has a lot of great products but their service is very weak. I posted this review several weeks ago and for some reason it's not on the site anymore? I will continue sharing my experience with Pottery Barn but overall it's been incredibly disappointing. read more

My husband and I save the cork from each bottle of wine we drink everywhere we go. We have done this since we got married 11 years ago. You can imagine that we now have a large collection of corks. I went to Pottery Barn looking for some glass vessels of some kind to make a display of these corks in our home. I was rather disappointed at the lack of larger glassware items that were available in the store. There were some large vessels do not misunderstand however there were not large ones with smaller matching ones available. I love how all the staff was super friendly! The associate who helped us was very helpful. The staff were all wearing masks and they had the clear plexi shields by the registers to prevent the spread. There was barely anyone in the store so we didn't have to worry about running into people. Anyway, we were on a hunt for some home decor. However, I've been keeping an eye out on the faux fur ruched throws while I was browsing their site. Since I was already in the store I might as well check it out for myself. Oh My Gorg!!!! The throw blanket was soooooo freakennnnn soft and I just couldn't get my hands off of it. I purchased a white teddy robe a few months back from PB located in Valley Fair and it is the BEST!!! It makes you want to lounge in it throughout the day. So I wanted to stock up on some nice throw blankets and this for sure will be put into good use. Knowing how I am... if I really like something I have to get it or else I won't be able to sleep!!! I was going for the ivory color but we had asked the associate to bring out the other colors just in case. Did I mention that he was super nice!! In the end, I went for the ivory color because it is very subtle. The color goes well with everything. This is the perfect accessory for winter. The throw is pretty pricey which came out to around $190 with tax but it is worth every inch of that blankie... Looking forward to winter cozy nights! read more

Never was welcomed by a group of socializing employees in an empty store. I felt like they got bothered by the idea they had to stop the gathering and actually help the costumer. One of them very quickly find the way to get rid of me stating without the original receipt have no chance. Didn't even made two steps to the cashier station to scan an item attempting to retrieve the info or to find other way to be helpful....Left the store sad watching through the window the employees are back together giggling . I went back to our first initial sectional that I liked and sat down to feel comfortable and I'm used to throwing my feet up on our ottoman at home with no shoes on but we're in the store with our shoes. The same sales associate walked by and first thing she says is "please don't have your feet on the table" not a "how are things?" "Do you need any help?" I was pissed. The job application for working here must require that you are a bitter, upper-middle aged, entitled woman. I have had exactly zero positive interactions with the staff at this location. Always rude, without exception. Not sure why they would be so impressed with themselves for working a day shift at a Pottery Barn. We purchased a basket that had a mark down sticker on it and when we went to the counter to pay, the woman working there insisted that the sticker wasn't supposed to be there and that it fell onto the basket from a nearby item. We kindly disputed this but she insisted so we decided to pay the full price anyway. As we were walking away from the counter, a small hole in the side of the basket tore open to reveal a larger hole. So we turn around and set it back on the counter, show the woman the hole and she begrudgingly discounts the item to the marked down price. Zero apology given, of course. On a separate occasion, while looking at fabric samples with my wife I was approached by another shrew of a staff member while looking at samples in an already open drawer of fabric samples. First she just squatted down next to me and stared at me like I was doing some thing obviously incorrect. After being told that I "shouldn't be touching those." I apologized and she insisted that "we are the ones that get those for you." And insisted that I stand there until she can come back and offer her services, which I never asked for. Quick tip lady: if customers aren't supposed to look at your fabric samples, don't leave the drawers open and don't leave them on the shelves. Also try just being nice. I always have to assess if it's worth shopping at Pottery Barn to have to deal with the atrocious staff at this location. read more

I was surprised when I encountered for the first time at Pottery Barn a salesperson who very brusk. I asked several questions as my designer had been there and picked out a number of items. I wanted to see them in person, and I was ready to purchase. She answered my questions but offered little information or any sign that she was interested in talking to me. Believe me, I don't require a lot from someone. Nothing like, "I will be happy to help you if you need anything else". The salesperson was not in the middle of doing something and returned to talk to her colleague. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! I was excited to find a local PB in such a gorgeous open space. I browsed yesterday and returned today to order a bunch of things. There were about 6 sales associates and two 'designers'. No one said hello, but whatever, I thought. I proceeded to look around the entire store, then waited at the design center cash register in line to speak to someone. There was a woman helping someone. Normally, the sales person would acknowledge folks waiting in line with 'we'll be with you shortly' or 'thanks for waiting' at some point, esp if it's a long wait. Well no. I waited for at least 15 minutes while she was opening a store credit card for an elderly couple and I didn't mind waiting. However, once she was done with the customers, she led them back & proceeded to do something else at another station, which is fine. However, acknowledge other freaking customers you rude, unqualified piece of work. I stood there without anyone present, the only thing I could do was to leave or have a fit, I chose to leave. Why should I be feeling angered by some nobody at pottery barn. Normally I find PBs to be pretty courteous, this was just such a put off. This is a complete slap on any customer's face, either the sales people are racists or they do not have basic sales manners. Terribly offended. I do not recommend this place, especially the 'designer' thin woman at about 5 6" with short curly dark hair with dark rim classes. Shame on you. read more

Terrible customer service! I was interested in buying a specific comforter with a similar fabric as my daughters, purchased recently from PB kids. After I entered in the store I went straight to the bedding area. There were two more customers in the whole store and probably five associates. None came to ask what I am looking for. Two of them were busy arranging some pillows on the shelf. Initially, I did not want to bother them hoping that someone else will ask if I need help. I looked for what I needed but I decided to interrupt the ladies with the pillows. One turned her head towards me like she was bothered and answered my question fast. I kept looking and interrupted them again with another question. This time, same attitude and continued what they were doing. Third time I asked if they carry a different color for a certain comforter and one said that the ladies at the front desk can help me check online. So, I went there and I found two associates busy with the two clients who were paying their merchandise. The third associate asked me what I need but shortly I decided she is incredibly disoriented. I gave up, took a picture of the tag and left. I can look online by myself, I thought an associate in a store can offer some details and recommendations... I was not in a TJ Max store. Never expected to experience such customer service in a Pottery Barn store. There is no point to arrange shelves and make them look nice of you repel the clients who can pay for those items on your shelves. I will never put my foot in that store again and I will make sure to share this with all my friends who regularly shop at PB. They have other options. read more

Hooray for Jane at the Valley Fair Mall Pottery Barn! The Walnut Creek store was out of the item I wanted as a little holiday gift for newlywed distant relatives, so they gave me a list of other area stores to call. Because the couple live in San Ramon, I called the Valley Fair store. Even though this was a sale item, Jane treated me with incredibly kind attentive service. She found the item on the floor with the monogram letter I needed and took down the shipping address. She said she would gift wrap it herself and then put it on the shipper's desk. Never have I felt so unwelcomed at a store. My daughter and friend were sitting on a sectional waiting for me as I was browsing items. Our new house is not fully furnished so I'm always looking for items. The sales associate comes over and rudely asks if they're buying the sectional and if not to move so she can show it to another person. She kept giving us weird looks even after we moved.
