I first visited this office for a second opinion after receiving an expensive treatment plan proposed by another oral surgeon/endodontist. Right from the start, Dr Ann Somers impressed me with her knowledge, experience and straightforward manner. She gave me helpful insights, along with a new, more reasonable, and affordable step by step treatment plan for managing gum disease and potential tooth loss. I've needed one implant and one gum graft and both procedures went extremely well. I felt so completely at ease while she did her work. The entire staff at this practice is warm, helpful and professional. I also can't say enough about the great care I received from Desirae and also the awesome perio cleanings with Quynh. Only my second time ever coming here and when arriving I tried calling the office to confirm the location as it is downtown and NOT in a convenient location, the rude ass receptionist with red hair decided to be a smart ass and proceed to tell me the office is in the "same location as always" with a rude and sarcastic tone. I hadn't been to the office in years so instead of being any help I had to proceed to find the office on my own. When I finally find the office, the same receptionist proceeds to tell me I'm not scheduled for that day even though I specifically recall making the appointment for that day and instead of being at all helpful she proceeded to tell me I was wrong and that she was the one I spoke with when I rescheduled. I have a strict job schedule and obviously know when I made my appointment for. Tempted to no longer even receive treatment here because of the customer service alone. Bet better and learn to treat patients with respect. read more

Care is excellent. The caveat to this statement is to know what reasonable and customary pricing is for a procedure or diagnostics .( insurance has that info) My complaint and everyone else who had a negative experience is around money. I paid what was asked before a LANAP procedure. Looked at EOB from Delta and realized I had given them $250 above that. Office said they were " holding it". I did get it back but I had to ask for it. It is illegal for a company to hold on to $ that they know doesn't belong to them. They have 90 days to return the money or send it to the state which puts it in the " unclaimed funds " if the owner cannot located. They are very aware of what they are doing. It's a busy successful practice. No one in that practice has an income problem, they have an outgoing problem. read more

If I could put no stars I would! I have been going to Dr. Poulos for many years. I stopped going last year as I get an awesome cleaning at my regular dentist and why pay higher prices! There was attitude by Danielle when I disclosed this and I indicated if I need future service, I will seek it. I went in on 1/24 for an evaluation for an implant. Danielle informed me the exam would be $145. and insurance would be billed. I inquired if a 3D x-ray would be taken to determine if the bone was sufficient for an implant. She replied with x-rays are taken at the Dr.'s discretion. However, she knows the drill, she's worked there long enough! I wanted to know the cost of that x-ray in anticipation of said cost. One would think that they would be willing to be transparent! Nope! Upon my arrival I was informed that the exam was $176. and given my portion. I inquired why I was quoted $145. yesterday and today it is $176. there was silence, so I persisted, is blowing one off good customer service? The girl helping me stated she didn't know and said she could inquire with Danielle, (who was in the 'back' avoiding me, I believe) I said please do that. She returned and stated Danielle did not know why she quoted that amount. We are human, we all make mistakes. I can accept this if there was an explanation for it, not just she doesn't know why she quoted that amount. A simple apology by Danielle informing me that it was a mistake would have gone a long way. Then I was told oh, but you have a $90. credit, I said great, use that! I sat down (they congregated to you know... to talk about you no discretion there ladies, it was obvious)! Once the conversation was complete, I was called up by the other person to sign off on a financial responsibility form that I completed the day before on-line. I complied and was told under her breath that I do not have a $90. credit there was a mix up in charts, hmm really? Then she proceeded to ask for my Delta card, why now? What is going on in accounting - you can't keep patients files straight - incompetence??? It Sure feels that way. Once I met with Dr. Poulos' assistant, she inquired about paperwork too, I informed her I completed on-line. If you have paperwork submitted to a patient and request it be completed prior to your visit, do you not ensure you received it and update the file accordingly? As part of the exam, I was told a 3D x-ray would be necessary and the cost would be $270. Again, had this information been disclosed the day prior, I could have anticipated what my next steps would be and anticipate the cost of my visit in its entirety. I wonder if Dr. Poulos is aware of this or are the Dr.'s oblivious to what goes on at the front desk? I have had great confidence in both Dr. Poulos, Sr., and Jr. I just really hope this is addressed. This office used to run much smoother and there wasn't the confusion that was so blatant yesterday. It is unfortunate that the front desk staff will dictate if a patient returns to what I felt like was a good dentist and a practice that was built so many years ago. However, the reality is that they are the first people you interact with and it sets the tone for the visit. If you can't be transparent in your practice that is concerning. Most people I know would like to know up front so that they can anticipate the expense they may occur. It appears this office chooses not be transparent. I am very disappointed and disturbed with my visit. I have requested an audit of my file be conducted, let's see how that goes!?? read more

Can you imagine actually looking forward to a dental appointment? That's how awesome everyone at Poulos and Somers is. Everyone, and I mean everyone I've interacted with at the office has been pleasant, friendly, and professional. Special shoutout to Tasha, Lindsay, and Dr. Marshall for just being all around awesome. I had to come in for some gum surgery, which can be quite an overwhelming experience. But all my fears and concerns were cast aside - Dr. Marshall explained everything thoroughly, listened to my concerns, and is a pro at what she does. Tasha and Lindsey are so good at what they do and they really go out of their way to get to know their patients and make sure they are heard. Everyone here is so knowledgeable, professional, yet warm and fun. I've had such a positive experience so far and I trust in Dr. Marshall and company completely! Other notes: - They do validate parking. - It can be kind of difficult finding the building and office the first time you visit, but the office sends you a very informative and thorough Welcome Email that explains everything. Plus, there's a fun welcome video for the more visual learner. - I forgot my headphones during my procedure. Thankfully, they played some music on Spotify to calm my nerves during the procedure. This was very much appreciated as listening to music is so MUCH better than hearing not-so-pleasant drilling noises during a procedure. read more

Dr. Poulos did a bone graft on my jaw yesterday and all I can say is it was a blast! We sang country music, talked about my trip to Peru, and all the while he was just digging away on bones and gum. Good times! All joking aside, although all of that was true, he did a great job on my jaw, no pain and just a little sore the day of. Despite having stitches in my mouth the second day I honestly could not tell that I had oral surgery. Zero pain, zero soreness, and I can't even tell there are stitches. I can't recommend the guy enough, go see him and sing some songs! read more

Best experience with any type of medical practitioner probably ever. Dr Somers is quick, efficient, and kind and did a great job with my gum graft. I have family members whose grafts had failed in the past from other surgeons, but Dr Somers put my worries to rest and nailed the whole process. When my dentist told me I was brushing my teeth too hard and needed to consult with a specialist I was nervous. I called in early July and was told August was the first opening but they would notify me of cancelations if one arose. True to their word I got a call stating there was an opening in late July and I was able to get in sooner. My first consultation with Dr. Michael Poulos was very helpful. He did a thorough examination of my teeth, gums and mouth before discussing what I needed to do to correct the issue of receding gums in my mouth. His staff explained the potential costs (pre and post insurance) before scheduling the procedure. Awaiting the procedure today but very confident that everything will go well. read more

The staff was very polite and took the time to answer my questions and explain everything to me in detail. My insurance didn't cover the procedure but I was going to book anyway until I met with the periodontist. He was so rude to me that I was actually shocked. I thought his terse bedside manner was just joking at first until I realized he was serious. I would expect simple common decency when someone is in such a vulnerable position and looking at spending thousands of dollars on an elective procedure. It's so disappointing because I had finally decided to do this important medical procedure but changed my mind about this practice upon meeting the doctor. read more

Let me preface this review with... Dr. Marshall removed a few implants and she was amazing! But otherwise, Don't waste your time here! They overcharge you up front and you will spend at least 6 months and a call from your insurance company to get your money back. The deep scaling cleaning is useless and she gives you at least 5 times the normal amount of novacaine. A year later I have to go to another periodontist to do the whole procedure over again?! They also told my dentist that they dismissed me?! Really? Pretty embarrassing since all I wanted was my fair share of money back! read more

Unfortunately I've had an area of recession of my gums for the past ten years, and have had to have three gum grafts, one in Chicago, one in Phoenix, and one here in Denver. I remember both the Chicago and Phoenix ones being awful - as the anesthesia wore off I had a searing pain in my jaw that made it difficult to chew food or even talk for two or three days. So, I was not looking forward to after this surgery as I drove home and went to lay on the couch waiting for the anesthesia to wear off. I took some medication, turned on the TV, and waited. About three hours later I realized that there wasn't any pain. I figured, OK, the medications must be working well. Three hours more, around dinner time, the medication had clearly worn off, so had the anesthesia, and it still didn't hurt. The next day I could chew normally. Two weeks later I had the stitches removed, looked at the gum, and it looked like there was no recession at all. That was not the case with the previous two surgeries - the gum always receded a bit, making it about half complete. This time it looked like the gum had restored. I don't know how Dr. Nick Polous does it, but he's clearly remarkable. read more

Dental work can be scary and intimidating, but everyone here was so great, my fears were easily put aside. Fingers crossed I don't need further work done, but if I do will definitely come back here. I found Dr. Poulos after having a terrible gum graft procedure at another dental facility in the Denver suburbs. Going in, I was very critical given my last experience. These guys exceeded in EVERY WAY!!! Their customer service is outstanding and Dr. Poulos senior (his son works with him) is both an expert in his craft and hysterical to be around. Since becoming a patient, I have had a new gum graft procedure, a general cleaning, and some other work. They are outstanding across the board and I would not hesitate to give them ten stars if Yelp allowed it! While I still am not a fan of getting work done on my teeth, these guys are about the best possible option out there. read more

This office has been here in Denver forever, which is great to find a place that is established and knowledgeable. They specialized in gums and implants, and do a really good job making you feel comfortable. Post procedure discomfort is really minimal, we even went to happy hour the same day. I visited Poulos and Somers for extraction of a badly decayed tooth, and will be returning in a few months to have an implant put in. They have already exceeded all of my expectations. Dr. Nick Poulos is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and easy going. Having teeth pulled is usually perceived to be a pretty terrible experience, but I felt at ease throughout the entire procedure, which he made relatively quick and completely painless (actually removing the tooth must have taken no longer than 5 minutes). He and his assistant worked very well together and clearly made it a priority to ensure I was comfortable. I'll have no anxiety about returning to have the implant put in. I was equally impressed with the level of communication they provide regarding what to expect during your procedure, what your options are, and what your bill will look like. It was completely transparent from beginning to end, which I consider to be uncommon. This place is really great. I would highly recommend it to anyone needing this type of work done. read more

I can't say enough about the quality of care I have received from this practice. They are all knowledgeable, thorough, and highly professional. I recently had to have an implant after suffering a fractured tooth. While it takees a long time the actual procedures went very well, with very little discomfort and no pain whatsoever. I was diagnosed with juvenile periodonitis in my early twenties and over the intervening years have gone to a number of surgeons, but none as good as Dr. Poulos. In our last session, I had to have several teeth removed as well as gum surgery--and he did such a good job I only took aspirin for pain relief following the session! I have had two surgeries with Dr. Poulos, three bone grafts and recently 3 implants and a sinus graft which we were trying to avoid but could not. I find Dr. Poulos very skilled, knowledgable and very good at what he does. My latest surgery was yesterday and I have no pain or bleeding. I was recommended to Dr. Poulous 15 years ago by my existing dentist of 20 years. I had major gum problems and even with what is considered today obsolete treatment I received excellent care and continue visits for cleaning and checkups for my periodontal needs. I have an implant and am working on another.
