Last night, Monday, February 12, 2018 was the third time I've been to the Pour House. As it was a Monday, the crowd was fairly small. On the other two occasions, a Wednesday for open mic, and late on a Friday, this joint really gets jumping. For a "dive" bar they have a surprising selection of vodka, which is nice, as that's my adult beverage of preference. The drinks are well-poured and inexpensive. The bartenders take care of business. Their menu is a little too sophisticated for my palate, however the prices are reasonable. I rarely eat burgers, but because of my pickiness and their menu selection I ordered a burger. In addition, I had to make it a special order, plain, dry, and well done.. It arrived exactly as ordered. The patty was cooked well done all the way through, and it was very thick. The bun was soft, fresh and toasted crisp - it was delicious. I only sampled the fries, but they were good too. It was a nice touch that they put the dill pickle wedge on the plate opposite the burger so that nasty thing doesn't contaminate the bun. My date had the ahi tacos. They looked beautiful, and must've been good because he tore right through them practically licking the plate. So, if you want a quiet, nice, reasonably priced dinner with an adult beverage or two, The Pour House is a great option on a Monday night. If you like to watch or participate in open mic, hit the place up on Wednesday. If you want loud music and an appropriately raucous crowd, definitely a great choice for a Friday night. I'm sure I'll eventually end up there other night of the week and will update my review accordingly. Also, very important they have very nice, clean restrooms. read more

We've given it three tries - and no more. Each time, service is progressively worse (and it was bad to start with). The last time, three employees walked by us, refusing to make contact. We finally went and found another and asked if we could sit at a table. Nine minutes later, the server came and asked us if we wanted drinks. We ordered them. first of all, let's not slap lipstick on this pig -- POUR HOUSE is what it is, a local dive bar. dark, dated, scruffy are a few of the kinder adjectives i could come up with to describe this place on short notice. okay -- now that that's out of the way ... pretty fair MOSCOW MULE and (pinky-out) SOUR ORANGE COSMO and a hardy OATMEAL STOUT. there ain't nothing wrong with that. the DIRTY CHIPS are greasy, spicy, crunchy, just plain fun drinking food -- count me all in. i never met a wing i didn't like and theirs (we went with the SWEET THAI CHILI) were plentiful and extra cheap on the HAPPY HOUR MENU. the SHORT RIB TACOS were the bomb !!! gotta love the regulars who look like they need to be dusted off -- this place has it all -- drinks, dining and a floor show. just don't show up in something that might require dry cleaning and don't order a drink with a paper umbrella. read more

This place was an unexpected surprise. We went on a Sunday and it was fairly busy. The bartender was swamped with orders but was killing it with the service. Food 5/5 The crispy Brussels were amazing. Some of the best Brussels sprouts I've ever had at a restaurant. They had such a depth of flavor and were just the right amount of crisp without burning. There were also cherry tomatoes mixed in which just heightened the flavors even more. The French fries were again some of the best I've ever had. Perfectly seasoned and they were little strips so they were crispy. My husband got a quesadilla and they put jalapeños inside which he liked a lot. I was not expecting such amazing food, and I will for sure be back. Atmosphere 4/5 It's a bit Loud but you can expect that from any bar. The lighting is a bit dark but there's natural light coming in. I enjoyed the decor it gave a nice look and feel, a bit dark like which was cool. I'm local to South O and have given this place a chance a few times. Never good service! This last visit was Friday 2/11 on their patio at a great table. 10, 15, 20, 30 minutes pass. Waitstaff walks by many many times and nothing. Trying to keep kids occupied and was not able to get their attention long enough to take any order. Bad service. Staff have bad attitudes and could not care to help. Won't have my business ever moving forward and will definitely spread the word. read more

My wife and I enjoy going to the Pourhouse for many reasons. It's easy to access from our home and it has a great vibe that we enjoy. One of the best things about the Pourhouse is the live music! They have so many interesting bands and we love going a little early to have dinner. Yes, the food is really good and reasonably priced. They have a great selection of tap beers and well, we love to support our local businesses. We have been promoting it to our friends and they can't believe they didn't know about it once they've gone. Honestly, a good place to go and have a good time! read more

We had a delicious breakfast this morning, food was brought out HOT and we didn't wait too long at all. Our server/bartender was great. She had pep in her step and memorized our order without a hitch. I can absolutely accept ehh food from an outstanding server, however this place didn't disappoint at all! Cocktails, food and chill outdoor patio ... an Oceanside gem! Our waitress Skylar was awesome -- on top of everything and gave some great recommendations! We ordered the East Side Ricky and Last Word for cocktails -- so good! Both gin-based. Order the Last Word if you want something a little stronger and the East Side Ricky is perfect for a warm spring/summer day or night. We shared the maple Dijon roasted carrots to start and they were SO good. The sauce, the cauliflower, asparagus and farro were the perfect complements. Then we split the B-52 burger and it was bomb! Could have definitely eaten an entire one, but had to share it with my husband. Guess that's love. Crispy bacon, pretzel bun, arugula and the sauce and blue cheese all tasted perfect together. I so wanted to like this place. It's just down the street from my house. We've been many times but I considered it more of a bar food type place and not much selection on menu unless you're just into wings, fries and burgers. After some time off from PH and going to our beloved, favorite spot LTH as our go-to for get togethers and brunches, thought we'd give it another try after seeing their 'revamped', new menu on IG. Told my husband that it seems like a totally different place from their recent food photos and so we went for brunch yesterday. Sooooo disappointed. He ordered the Angry Rooster. It looked nothing like what was advertised. Came on a sad, hard, cold, dusty, square potato bun, bacon in the sandwich was so undercooked and limp and soggy, it was translucent. The fries were also undercooked, limp and oily. He picked at the sandwich at best. I ordered the pork belly brussels. Again, nothing like the photo/IG post. It was literally a bowl of greasy, fried brussels sprouts and a 99% fat, undercooked slab of pork belly thrown on top. None of the garnishes it said it came with (Asian sauce, cilantro, sweet nuts). We're not picky or high maintenance. So not so that we didn't even complain about the food. We'll just never go back. Like I said before, we so wanted to have another place as our go-to since LTH and our other places have up to an hour wait. As I frowned at our plates yesterday, I said to my husband that I'll gladly wait 2 hours at other places that are consistently phenomenal. He agrees. I went for the Ramones cover show last other and went early for food. The young lady that was dressed as a devil on Friday 10/29 was awfully flirty in an awkward way. Put my husband is a weird predicament and we all left feeling awkward and felt she was too youthful energy didn't fit the vibe as a regular of Pour House. My husband and I have been coming to the Pour house for about 3 an a half 4 years Lindsey was our favorite bartender we were sad to find out she quit during the pandemic then we enjoyed Sean as our bartender in the on of the reasons we started coming was Lindsey food n drinks, since the Pandemic the food has changed there is no more taco Tuesday and there food has gotten to foo foo who puts spiky lettuce on a burger, wings are great, it's a pub bar in Oceanside sad to say it's not one of our favorites anymore the fun is gone read more

Hi everyone - it saddens me to share my poor experience at this local place in Oceanside. My boyfriend and I are local Hispanics and decided to attend a show in support of local musicians. After walking into this place we made our way to the bar where we stood for awhile waiting for someone to finally take our order. When we arrived the bar wasn't busy the bartender looked at my bf and I then walked away keeping himself busy and kept taking other people's orders who would go up to the bar. We were patient and understanding at first. Then we noticed he made a comment to his female coworker behind the bar and she turned and look at us smirked and walked away. They both did not offer service to us whatsoever and it was obvious that they kept skipping over us and taking orders from others who came after we did. They made it clear that we were not welcomed. An older caucasian man walked up to my bf and I then said to me "they keep ignoring you guys purposely aren't they?" He sat next us waiting to order too. The bartender finally looked our direction walked towards us and intentionally skipped over us AGAIN and tried taking the older man's order. The man then told him "No, they were here first take theirs" that's when the bartender said "what do you want?" With such unfriendly tone and slammed our pints on the counter. We felt so humiliated and degraded we could NOT enjoy the rest of the night there and drank our beer and left. Oceanside is very diverse and we do not tolerate this behavior. I will be sharing this with local vloggers and social media. I also read reviews of others who have experienced racism here this needs to be addressed. This is the review of the place from a point of view of a swing dancer. I did not try the food, the drinks were OK, the barmen, the security, and the patrons were all friendly. The place is not large and has an unmistakable dive-y feel, complete with a pool table and bouncer. However, the crowd is a bit more refined - this is not your pedestrian bar, after all, but a music venue. For the ones that are after the food, large patio is available, but the music plays and the dancing happens inside. Tips for the dancers if the swing band is playing: - bringing your own partner is absolutely essential, there are very few people willing to dance, mostly ladies, almost all absolute beginners. It appears to be OK to invite follows from the crowd (most will refuse). - the dance area in front of the stage is small, good maybe for 5-6 couples. Due to the many tipsy beginners on the dance floor, it gets quite tricky to lead any travelling moves once the number of couples is above three. - the floor is smooth plastic, sticky in places. Pivots are definitely possible, but do not bring your good dance shoes. - the acoustics is surprisingly poor for the music venue. To get the better quality sound, sit or stand closer to the stage. In my case, the level of sound in this area was tolerable, but the system is clearly able to pump out more decibels, so bringing the ear protection might be wise. Logistics: cover charge applies ($7 on the night I have visited), drinks are not terribly expensive ($5 for the non-alcoholic beer). There is no dedicated parking, use the streets, the best bet is in the alley right behind the Surf Ride Boardshop next door (closed at the hours we care about). The immediate neighborhood is relatively well-lit and feels reasonably safe. Overall: an OK place to dance if your own dance partner is available. read more

I used to live right across the street from this place when it was the good ole beach club-I would literally come twice a week for years because it was the only bar in the area aside from PCH-it was basically a run down bar and there would be crazy fights every weekend-it was too much! I really wish the current owners would've bought this place way back when!!! I absolutely love it here. Been here a few times since they revamped the place and they did such an awesome job. I love the floor, I love that they set up the tables and chairs inside for dining-the wooden booths add a nice touch that fits perfectly with the theme of the place and THE BATHROOMS! WOW! Back then there was only one stall in the ladies room and the only word I can think of as far as description is probably disgusting...but when you gotta go you gotta go! Now they added another stall and redid the whole room. Has a vintage inspired look to it and those faucets! I need those faucets! Great job guys! I've come a few times when they had live bands and the whole feel and vibe of this place is so much better and it's on another level, I think! Drinks are cheap, pours are heavy and I have yet to try the food just the fries but those truffle fries are AMAZING! Just got off work and want to wind down without the fear of being curb stomped by some meth-head with bad tattoos and daddy issues? Then come to The Pour House! Looking for a place to congregate with some friends and enjoy the stellar ambiance? Then come to The Poor House! Great cocktail menu, extensive selection of beers on tap, loquacious bartenders and live music! Did I forget to mention the affordable gourmet food they serve? Yeah, this place has it all. Really. I think I just found my home away from home. Oh and if you're feeling hipster for the night, they serve cans of Colt 45 and Tall Boys of PBR. What a revelation it is to have an enjoyable reprieve from the burdens of life. (This place used to be Beach Club. It is no longer that horrid, run down bar. It's been completely gutted and reconstructed from the inside out.) Also, the owners, Dave and Emily, are really nice. Formally what used to be known as 'the beach club' where I oh so frequently went to, this place has been remodeled into an odd bar with deer heads on the walls, the CUTEST hipster bartenders with the CUTEST outfits- I'm talking suit and suspenders and beards , a stage where a band usually plays and a long outdoor Patio that's my fave. They pour the drinks heavy, so heavy that the first and last time I've been there I barely remember! Lol. This really is the "pour" house- they pour heavy, not to be confused With the "poor" house which I originally thought it was called- and you definitely might be after a few drinks here. Lol. I'm going to give it 4 stars - It deserves 5 for it's excellent and reasonably priced food, and for having live music, but 2-3 for being kinda sketchy at times, and having a patio full of smoke that wafts into the bar. Cool spot on the other side of San Diego from me. My friend's band Buckfast Superbee played there last night, and I made the long trek from North Park because a) they're a rad band and b) the Pour House wasn't charging an entry fee. How can I not support that? I am not drinking much lately but I supported the free concert by buying a beer. Dude behind the bar was wearing a "La Fin Du Monde" shirt but they didn't have it, so I ended up with another random beer choice. Staff was great, all good looking women with a great attitude. They have an ok dance floor but then there's hardly any room because of all the Zombies who stand right in the middle of it and even when asked won't move. Bouncers seem to turn a blind eye on some of the out of hand drunks. Bathroom a total disaster. These Yelp ratings don't seem to matter. read more
