My husband and I stopped in to Frankie's on a recent Saturday at 5pm. Our kiddo had a performance down the street at 6pm so we had a little time to kill beforehand. The neighboring spots looked busy so we decided to go with Frankie's, seeing as they were less inundated at the time and we had a time constraint. Another allure was the sandwich board at the front door advertising discounted cocktails - sold!! Inside there were a handful of patrons at the bar, another table with two additional patrons and maybe a couple on the patio so it was fairly quiet and slow, so it looked promising. We headed up to the bar and hung out behind two empty barstools, the single female bartender greeted us and said she'd be right with us, but then continued chatting up the seated patrons, serving them and their friends that had just joined (AFTER we'd arrived). We moved a little further down to the handoff area where she was making drinks to save her having to come back to us again, and stood there for probably 10 minutes while she took orders and made all the drinks. We commented that she looked like she could definitely use a hand, and she said they were still adjusting into summer hours and determining whether more coverage was needed at this time - I figured 5pm on a Saturday should be primetime, so I'm not sure in what universe having a single bartender makes any sense. Finally we placed our cocktail orders, waited while they were made, and then put our card down for the tab. After we'd paid, I noticed the cocktails were more expensive than advertised on the sandwich board out front - I couldn't find a disclaimer anywhere that said only certain cocktails were included, so while it was a bummer I wasn't about to wait another 10-15 minutes to catch her attention and ask for clarification. Just a heads up to beware of whatever is advertised that might summon you in from the sidewalk, and make sure you ask before you make your selection. Drinks were very subpar, nothing special to write home about. While I can appreciate the Gatsby-esque vibe they're trying to uphold at Frankie's, they really should increase their staffing especially during prime weekend and evening hours, and be more transparent about their specials and what's included and what's not. Hindsight is 20/20, and the low volume of patrons when everything else around it was going off was probably a sign, so we'll skip Frankie's our next go around.

The drinks are just as good as some of the top bars around, helmed by Wyatt who you may remember from Switchboard and KNVS is a staple in Oceanside. Prices are excellent, staff is great. While you can get a cocktail here, you don't have to. A classic shot and a beer is just as likely to be had here as a stemmed glass proper cocktail. When it's jamming it is near a standing room all the way around. No doorman asking for a password, no re-entry on nights when Heritage are open (Monday is this exception). It's funny to watch South O locals wander in here and realize maybe it's time to stop trying to change places to be like other places and enjoy the experience shown.

I attended the Brixton premiere at Pour House in Oceanside, and as a loyal patron returning after many years, I was deeply disappointed and hurt by the treatment I received. While standing on the outskirts of the pit, I was repeatedly bumped into by the crowd, which is normal in such an environment. However, the security guard next to me misunderstood the situation and became aggressive, eventually pushing and even striking me in the chest. When I tried to calmly explain that I wasn't intentionally bumping into him, he dismissed me, accused me of being drunk, and told me to take a walk and drink some water, despite the fact that I had only had one drink. Instead of holding himself accountable, he called over a larger male security guard to have me removed, which felt intimidating and discriminatory. When I reported the incident to a supervisor, I was told that the security guard was new and under pressure, which does not excuse the way I was treated. As a veteran woman of color who served in the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, and as someone who was once a regular patron at Pour House, it's incredibly disappointing to return after five years and have this experience. The way I was treated felt discriminatory and intimidating. If this is how Pour House now handles situations involving women, I sincerely hope they implement proper training to ensure all patrons are treated with respect and care. I have witnesses who can attest to what happened, and I hope that Pour House takes this matter seriously to ensure no other patron has to go through the same experience. read more

I grew up here in the beautiful city of Oceanside where many different cultures made the city what it is, Unique. Years later I became a Google tour guide and traveled to different restaurants, bars, etc. to show the tourists enjoyable places to visit through pictures. Recently I noticed that Bartenders don't make fancy, eye-appealing, delicious cocktails anymore. Authentic bartending is a thing of the past. Until one evening I found a bartender at the Pour House here in Oceanside. He is not just an authentic bartender; he is a Mixologist. His appreciation for the history of cocktails is phenomenal, creating beautiful cocktails is his passion. He has been in the bartending industry for over 20 years and gives the best customer service. The way he floats around the bar making everyone feel like they are his only guest is amazing, his memory of what everyone is drinking, also cleaning, taking food orders, and making sure the place is safe was so impressive. About midnight on Friday the 13th I witnessed a vulgar display by the bouncers or security if you want to call them that. Apparently there was a patron a little too drunk. He was upset outside screaming yelling. The security approximately four of them stood arguing with him while his wife tried to get him to leave. He did throw a punch which hit no one and was immediately knocked out then pummeled by all guards present. Then when the fight was stopped and his wife picked up from the ground. He was told to leave you "cheap bastard" his hat kicked after him as he stumbled down the road. No concern for his well being at all. I get he may have been too drunk but as a bouncer or four there is no fear of one drunk man! I will not be a patron of this bar ever again. Beware how you may be treated by the security here. Old style saloon type throw you out the door in the street. Unbelievable. Security should call police not beat people up. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. My friend and I had just come back from a wake for our deceased friend. We walked in to have a brief drink and bite and were greeted by your DELIGHTFUL bartender. It was football Sunday. And yes, the cute short haired blonde girl behind the bar was busy and seemed to have a bunch of friends enjoying their food and quite possible free drinks. We tried to get her attention to order and realized it was busy so just tried to move around and grab her to let her know our drink order and was told verbatim in a rude tone: "GOD! Can you stand still?!?!? We felt like more of an annoyance than a welcomed patron. Apparently we were too much of a disturbance to even be addressed in a humane manor. The venue is great, the patrons were amazing and very sweet, the food was on point, but the bartender needs to go back to etiquette school. Made a sad horrible day, even worse. read more

We loved this place and frequented there almost every single weekend until their bouncers decided it's okay for some stranger to come up to me and lift up my dress. They let the man who physically violated me stay, meanwhile they 86 locals for next to nothing. This place won't last if they keep treating the locals like crap. But the food is good and some of the bartenders are cool, I mean when they aren't screaming at you demeaning you in front of the entire bar for no reason. It's a bar with very tasty food! I was very surprised with the quality of the food. Yum yum!! I had the ahi tuna tacos! They are FABULOUS! Will def def definitely be back for more tacos and beer! The girl who waited on us was VERY VERY HELPFUL. She even brought me a taste of the beer before I ordered a pint. It was on her recommendation I ordered the tacos! Love the Pour House! We headed up to the bar and hung out behind two empty barstools, the single female bartender greeted us and said she'd be right with us, but then continued chatting up the seated patrons, serving them and their friends that had just joined (AFTER we'd arrived). We moved a little further down to the handoff area where she was making drinks to save her having to come back to us again, and stood there for probably 10 minutes while she took orders and made all the drinks. We commented that she looked like she could definitely use a hand, and she said they were still adjusting into summer hours and determining whether more coverage was needed at this time - I figured 5pm on a Saturday should be primetime, so I'm not sure in what universe having a single bartender makes any sense. Finally we placed our cocktail orders, waited while they were made, and then put our card down for the tab. After we'd paid, I noticed the cocktails were more expensive than advertised on the sandwich board out front - I couldn't find a disclaimer anywhere that said only certain cocktails were included, so while it was a bummer I wasn't about to wait another 10-15 minutes to catch her attention and ask for clarification. Just a heads up to beware of whatever is advertised that might summon you in from the sidewalk, and make sure you ask before you make your selection. Drinks were very subpar, nothing special to write home about. While I can appreciate the Gatsby-esque vibe they're trying to uphold at Frankie's, they really should increase their staffing especially during prime weekend and evening hours, and be more transparent about their specials and what's included and what's not. Hindsight is 20/20, and the low volume of patrons when everything else around it was going off was probably a sign, so we'll skip Frankie's our next go around.

There's a $5 cover on Fridays and Saturdays (I think they have live music both days) and we did not have a reservation. I think if you have a reservation you can get a table in their back area. We were up front with the band. It's a pretty small place, maybe about 5 or 6 high top tables in the front, the bar toward the back, and that back room which we didn't look in. We cozied up until someone left a high top and then hung out there. We ordered some drinks that were specials for the night and some that were regularly on the menu. We had a great time! Drinks were good, I think also reasonably priced. Music went from 7pm to 10pm and we got there around 7:30 and it was good and busy! This definitely feels like a family joint, their mascot is their little chihuahua Wishbone and I love that so much. Owners were fun, kept things going while the band was on break, just overall a really good time. I'm not much of a drinker so I can't speak to the types of liquor, but I definitely was feeling my drinks and couldn't finish my 3rd. If we lived here I think this would become a regular spot for us. I understand businesses have minimums, but personally, I prefer places where I can come in, relax, listen to the music, and decide what I want to spend without feeling pressured--especially when I'm experiencing a band or comedian for the first time and don't know what to expect. The waitress was okay, although there were a few assumptions made during my visit that I didn't feel were appropriate. I'm glad I checked it out and experienced it for myself. It just probably isn't somewhere I'll return to. I'm looking for more of a laid-back, come-as-you-are kind of spot where I can enjoy the entertainment without feeling obligated to meet a spending minimum. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! At least now I know.

The service was quick, the vibes were great, and the music was fun. Dustin was incredibly attentive and made sure my cup was refilled promptly. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay longer because I had to catch up with family, but before I left the area, Dustin even recognized me when he saw me at a nearby business. He even bought my daughter an ice cream after learning her team just won a soccer tournament! Talk about genuine hospitality and respect!
