Pretty disappointed in customer service. I am looking for new frames for both glasses and sunglasses and chose to give this place a look based on the awesome reviews and wide selection of frames to choose from. Also, because they are conveniently open until 6:00 p.m. and I get off work at 5:30 and work just down the street. So I come in on my lunch hour to scope out the glasses and get an idea of what I want. I asked the ladies when they closed so I can come back with my prescription and make my final selection. she doesn't tell me when they close, instead tells me to be back BEFORE 4:00 if I want to pick out frames! A whole two hours before closing. After I expressed my shock to her, she then changed her mind to say no later than 4:30. Geez, I get you don't want to be stuck here after hours but come on lady! Where's your customer service? I won't be back here because, as the receptionist explained, they take down all of their frames wayyyyy prior to closing time giving us 9-5 workers no time to pick out frames from here. So sad because they had a great selection. read more

My husband and I recently went to Poway Eyeworks to purchase new glasses. The optometrist was really nice and explained everything well. Also, most of the other staff were really great. I brought my toddler in and they helped to entertain her as I shopped around. My husband ended up getting two pair of glasses and I purchased one. Obviously they have to send the frames off to the lab to get the lenses made and put in. The day after we ordered the glasses I noticed the frames I choose were half the price online ( I bought them for $300 and they were $150 online) so naturally I called Poway Eyeworks to see if I could get a discount of some kind or if I could cancel my order, buy the frames online, and have them put the lenses in. They very quickly declined to help me out and claimed their high price was due to the warranty they provide along with the frames. Before purchasing frames here, I would suggest comparing prices online first! read more

The doctor I saw that day was very friendly and knowledgeable and explained everything clearly. They have a nice selection of glasses. Poway Eye Works is absolutely amazing! I am one of those people who needs glasses but refuses to wear them because I HATE how I look in them! I have been to many other eyewear stores and they are all the same. They are there to sell you glasses and will push you into something that may not look good on you! Poway Eye Works is NOT like that at all! John was the most helpful person (not only in glasses stores) I have ever had! I got my vision tested, and they gave me pricing of all different lens types (good and bad). John told me not to worry about deciding that day and to go home, look it over, see how I felt and come back whenever I felt ready! I came back the very next day to look for him and there he was! He remembered my name when I walked through the door! I was going to get only sunglass lenses, but I decided to try on regular frames to see if I liked them. It took a few different frames, but when he found out what I was liking and what I wasn't liking, he starting pulling out ones similar to the ones I liked. I found a pair that I absolutely LOVE and will probably wear all the time! They were more than my insurance covered, and he took off the difference just to see me in something I love! Then he told me it would be ready in 3 business days! I was shocked! Last time I bought glasses it took two whole weeks to get them! He gave me extraordinary service and I will only go to Poway Eyeworks from now on!!! Seriously, no eye place can beat this place! It was quality service! read more

A couple months back I had dropped my glasses face down and scratched them so badly I could barely see when the sun reflected on the lenses. I do not have vision insurance at my new employer so I went back to Poway Eyeworks dreading what the cost was going to be. I talked to Kendra and she told me that she would check with the lab and the lenses may still be under warranty. What a relief that on Monday she called to tell my they would be replaced for free under warranty. I had my new lenses within a week. Great customer service! read more

So I purchased very expensive glasses from this store 4 years ago. I paid for the very expensive Crizal to cover my glasses from scratches well when I went to Costco and got some new glasses my eyes hardly changed at all actually when I got better they told me that I should never have paid as much money as I did Crizal because it was like it was never even coated. I called the store and I got somebody that has a very strong accent and she was arguing with me basically telling me that well it's been 4 years but when I go to the website of Crizal there are people there that have their glasses for years without scratches and instead of showing empathy this place just wanted to argue with me I will never be back in this store ever again they're nice to you when they get your money but after that watch out read more

I must say the costumer service was impeccable, I read a few reviews below and they just don't make sense. As soon as I walked in even though the staff was busy with others they still managed to great me with a big smile. The exam went smoothly, without wasting anytime I was I front of the doctor with my new contacts, unfortunately I don't remember my doctors name which was amazing!Jeanelle and Gloria were both so friendly and made sure I got booked with a time that works for me for my follow up. This is a great place to find those unique glasses that you don't see everywhere else! The optometrist was wonderful, very professional and pleasant. I am particularly grateful to Kendra, who provided fabulous customer service. She was patient and helped me select the frames that I am most happy with and she worked on getting the tint right. I am especially grateful because she understood that I had a time constraint, and she expedited my insurance and she managed to get my glasses completed as quickly as possible from the lab. Wow! Such outstanding reviews.... I've been wearing glasses since the age of 10 and am now in my mid 40's. I can say with good conscience that i'm very experienced with eye exams and purchases. First, the eye exam. Amazing that over the decades, optometrists have been diagnosing me with a focus problem and simply prescribing prisms to correct it. I just recently found out that when a focus problem (due to overactive, or lazy eye muscles) is discovered, the optometrist is supposed to refer the patient to a eye specialist for evaluation. I only found this out by accident as my son was checked out by an eye doctor/surgeon for a different condition but one of the specialists checked him for the same problem I had. When discussed, it was clear to me that this referral should have been made. I'm now scheduled for eye surgery to correct my double vision. Anyway, this optometrist clearly did not know or understand this fact. Which leads me to believe one of two things; 1) The optometrist was ignorant of the referral protocol, or 2) was only interested in profit as prisms add quit a bit of additional cost. You decide! Secondly, since I scheduled surgery on my eyes the prisms will no longer be helpful. My prescription allows for one redo, so upon recommendation of my eye surgeon I asked the shop to redo my lenses with out the prisms. The gentleman who sold me the glasses was like, well I don't recommend that. Really! You sell glasses and you re telling me that you recommend against a doctor's recommendation. Say what..... I then had to convince the gentleman that when the eye surgery happens the prisms will force me into seeing double because of the prisms. He proceeded to tell me that he has many years experience fitting glasses and that sometimes doctors are wrong. And, I'm like, I'll take the advice of the doctor over a guy who fits glasses, thank you. Anyway, not the type of attitude I'd expect as a customer. Kinda arrogant! Very off putting! Thirdly, though the staff are friendly and helpful at first. My experience quickly soured when it took 1 month to get my glasses. Yes, one month. Pay several hundred up front to receive my prescription one month later. Ouch! Ok, so it is normal to wait for the lab, but I've never waited so long. Then when receiving the glasses the frame was not the right color. I ordered black not silver. They seemed clueless, fumbled around a bit to see if the frame was offered in black (like at the time of ordering) to find out that yes, it can be ordered in black. So, I wait a week to receive the new frame. it comes in and I bring my glasses to be switched. Oh, we are sorry, we are closing in 20 min so we can't help you now. Really! Then I come in the next day, and drop them off in the morning and pick up after work. Simple, right! Well, I get a call that the frame posts are not long enough for my prescription with prisms. They need to send it out to the lab. Really! I'm very frustrated now, and express how frustrating this experience is. No empathy, just a sorry and a shrug. Then I ask if they can have done by Friday for pickup. Well, there not sure! We can ask the lab to expedite! No offer to do so, just they ask on my behalf, because I asked.... Well Friday passed and still no glasses. This place is incompetent and the initial friendly service fooled me in to my patronage! But after my experience I would never recommend this place to anyone. Had an exam recently and bought both contact lenses and glasses. The business has state-of-the-art equipment and the doctor I saw was professional and helpful in answering all my questions. My only complaint about the place is that the person helping me pick out frames immediately steered me to the most expensive frames in the store and avoided those that were more reasonable. I had to ask about that particular selection of frames, to which she responded that she had forgotten to show them to me. read more

Super Friendly, professional staff...an excellent collection of eye wear, for great prices!! It can't get any better than that. (everyone including John, Christina, and Carla are wonderful!!!) The lady Dr. who I saw before was very personable, friendly, and patient. So excited that I have found my "go to" place for all my eye wear needs. I first came in a while ago to get a new pair of prescription lenses, and that's when I was ecstatic to see their vast selection included Chanel. I ended getting contact, prescription glasses, and sunglasses then. This way, whether I'm wearing contact lenses or wearing my prescription, I am always looking chic. :) I went back again for lenses replacement , since I scratched up my other sunglasses. They kindly and promptly took my order. I inquired about their Yelp deal they are running, and I ended up getting another pair of sunglasses today as well! As before, the staff was very professional and helpful. You can tell they go above and beyond to make their customers happy. I wanted a pair of sunglasses in their other store, and one of their employee brought it the next day!! When I needed my prescription glasses, they even gave me temporary pair.....I was impressed.... Their service definitely stands out from all the other places I've been to. Since I've first been there, I've ordered my husband's RayBan replacement. Dr. Felce is the BEST doctor! She is friendly, takes the time to really listen to you and helps in anyway she can. She definitely goes above and beyond any other doctor I've had. The office staff are all friendly; they greet you as soon as you enter and spend as much time with you as you need. Best Eye place I have been to yet. I have had a real tough time trying to find a great eye place to go too and to get frames at a reasonable price. This by far has blown me away. The customer service there is awesome, the Dr was really friendly and was very informative which is always good. The place when you walk in will knock your socks off as its extremely clean and very nice. Joseph helped me pick out my frames and wow the knowledge that he has on what type of frames fit different types of faces was unbelievably awesome. He didn't try to sell me expensive frames he looked at my face and said ok here is a selection of frames that would look best with your face. Best part they were lower than my budget for frames. Having had an eye exam done for myself in a previous year with no issues, I thought I'd get it done for my daughter this time around. I called to get an appointment on a Monday and spoke to Kendra(?) and told her that none of the weekdays would work for us because of my daughter's school and asked if they did any on Saturdays. She said, yes, they could do a 4pm on Saturday. She also told me that since they close soon after, it'd be better if I came right on time because the exam would take 30-45 minutes. She also told me to go online and fill out the patient info so that we wouldn't have to do it when we came in for the appointment. I did that the next day. Come Saturday, we walk in at 4pm. Kendra and another girl are at the reception. The office seems empty. I tell them that we have an appointment at 4 and the other girls goes in a brisk tone "we don't do Saturday appointments." I was confused. I'm very meticulous about these things and note down the smallest appointments so as never to miss any. But I still thought maybe I made a mistake. I pulled out my phone and checked my calendar and it wasn't a mistake. Kendra started checking her computer to verify. She said we should have gotten a confirmation email and if we didn't get one, the appointment is not valid. It's possible that she conveyed this during our phone call and I forgot. But I don't see the point of calling a business to get an appointment only to have it considered invalid if we didn't get a follow-up email. What's the point of going online and entering the patient info then? Regardless, during this exchange, the other girl still kept insisting that they don't do Saturdays. Even after I told her that I had called and taken an appointment for a Saturday afternoon. It's perfectly fine if they don't want to do Saturday appointment but in this case, they had given me one. Then Kendra admitted that it may have been a mistake on her part. But the other girl very curtly and rudely kept saying that it was probably my mistake and they never do Saturday appointments - even after I showed her my phone with the appointment. So much for treating customers politely. The motto seemed to be that "we are always right and the customer is wrong." Then they had the gall to ask me if I wanted to reschedule. I told them to get their act together and we walked out of there determined never to visit this sorry place. Business must be very good for them to actively piss off customers. Fortunately, as consumers we have plenty of choice for good optometrists in the area, so we ended up going to one such. read more
