I can't believe I'm actually writing a review for a smog station... But this place was great! I think I have been getting ripped off whenever I've gotten smog tests done before. I got an online coupon (it ended up being $50 for the test and the certificate) and read some Yelp reviews about how nice this place was, how fast they were, etc... so I came. It was all true! First thing I asked was if they offered free re-tests if the car fails. I had just had my car worked on and my mechanic had reset something so that I would need to drive my car at least 50 miles before getting a smog test so that the reading would register. I didn't want to test the car, not have the reading show up, and fail the test on account of that. Dave immediately told me he wouldn't even continue with the test if it didn't have the reading, and that there wouldn't be any charge for anything. Then the girl behind the register told me they do free re-tests if the car fails. I was there less than 10 minutes, start to finish. While Dave was testing my car, I chatted with the nice girl behind the register. The car passed smog, I paid my bill, and I was done. They made this process painless-- if anything it was actually pleasant, which isn't something you usually say when you're referring to a smog check. Came back today to get the van smog tested and here is how it went. 1. Parked in the lot opened my door and a guy came out and asked for my keys. 2. He took said keys and before I got to the door my van was heading into the garage. 3.. 15 minutes later I was on my way. And there were people in front of me who got in and out just as fast. The people are all polite friendly and helpful. And they have great magazines although i was in and out so quickly I never got read about the latest research regarding the state of Miley's tongue and who is the latest star to lose 90 pounds the day after giving birth. I called ahead to make sure they could fit me in because I knew I would show up near their closing time. The owner, David Connor, told me to come on in. I rushed in, and parked. I got inside to give them my info when I discovered I had forgotten my wallet. I told the receptionist I was an idiot and walked out the door. As I was about to turn out of their driveway, David Connor ran up to my car and told me he would smog my car and I could pay him later. He did the smog within 15 minutes and I was out the door. There isn't much to say about this place except that they have awesome customer service and that they're quick at what they do! My girlfriend has a 2008 Honda Civiv and needed a smog, then I hopped on Yelp to find this place. I'm glad I did! Super affordable, friendly, and fast. We came in and were out in less than 10 minutes! We did come in on a Thursday at 11 am... but still super fast nonetheless. These guys are the best. They're fast, courteous, and very knowledgeable. I recently brought my Jeep Grand Cherokee in for a smog test, and it didn't pass. They are not allowed to tell you how to fix it, but they patiently explained the results to me in enough detail so that I could figure out what is wrong. The problem is that when you fail a smog test, a mechanic will want install a new catalytic converter (for at least $500). But not every failed test means a new cat is needed, and that is what the guys at Poway Smog Station were trying to explain. They said that my results showed that there was too much oxygen in the system, which I figured out later from looking online that it could be due to a hole in the exhaust. Sure enough, there was a hole. After plugging it, my Jeep passed with flying colors. And these guys do not charge for a retest. And, yes, be sure to bring the coupon! read more

I was yelping for a Smog place to take my truck (1994 Chevy Silverado) to at lunch and found this gem in Poway. I'm in Rancho Bernardo, but 45 reviews and still has 5 stars, sold! I had a great experience. Jesse, the girl at the front desk is very nice, friendly and helpful. I printed the a coupon online and when presenting it, she said that a previous customer left a better coupon behind and let me use that one instead. Saved me an extra $2, hey I take it where I can get it, lol. The garage is nice and big, looks like they can handle 4-6 vehicles at a time. The test was very fast, I was in and out of there in 20 min. The also offer free retests if your vehicle fails. I didn't have to use that today luckily, but good to know! I'll be back for my next Smog, that's for sure. I definitely recommend Poway Smog Station for Smog tests, go check them out. 5 stars all the way! read more

I called at noon on a Monday and was informed no one was in line waiting for a smog check. The process was so simple- I turned in my smog form from the DMV and provided my mileage I was told it would take about 10-15 minutes and thought that was ridiculous... true to their word it was done in 10! I drove 40 mins to go to this place for a duplicate registration card and replacement sticker. No kidding... They had it done, card and sticker in hand, in 5 minutes flat. Fee was reasonable and people were very friendly. Highly recommend. Waaaayyyy better than the DMV. read more

Very friendly and very quick service. I came here twice because my vehicle failed the emissions the first time (I reset the ECU the night before to clean some sensors and I wasn't aware that you had to drive your car for 20-50 miles before the car's ECU resets). This is apparently to prevent people that try to get their car passed with a "check engine light". At any rate, my emissions passed but my ECU wasn't "ready" so I had to come back after driving my car some more. I came back 3 days later, having driven 100+ miles, and sure enough my car passed. When I first got there, there were 7 people waiting for their cars to be inspected. They were nice enough to do a quick check to see that my car's ECU was "ready" before I decided to invest the estimated 2 hours I would have to spend waiting. Even though they estimated around ~2 hours, they called me an hour later to come pick up the car. Great and fast service. Highly recommend them. They are also very courteous. read more

Seriously the fastest, friendliest, and easiest smog experience ever. Been putting it off for weeks but if I knew it would be this painless I would have done it sooner. I've had two other cars smogged before elsewhere. My first experience was at a shop in Miramar and it was sketchy. Guy barely spoke English. I wasn't sure what I was paying for and wasn't sure if they were actually going to submit my test to the dmv. The second shop in Rancho Bernardo took forever...which is why I kept putting this check off. This place was SERIOUSLY different. Literally seconds after pulling into the lot, the tech was taking my keys and pulling the truck into the garage and I was ushered into the office by the super nice clerk. I chose the Poway Smog Station because I needed a smog check and I happen to be driving by. It wasn't crowded, so I walked in and asked for a special, and they gave me their coupon price. I paid $48 out the door including all fees. Not too bad for a large SUV. The girl was very friendly. She told me it would be about 15 minutes once they start, and there was one car ahead of me they were already working on. Their waiting room was pretty big and surprisingly clean. They had tons of different magazines that appeal to anyone's interests, and they were all new copies, not six months old. There is also a restroom and a water cooler. All-in-all it was much better than you would expect. I waited approximately 10 minutes from when I sat down until my car was ready. It was the fastest smog check I've ever had by far. I walked in on a Sunday afternoon (no appointment) with my coupon I found online and walked out about 25 minutes later, only paying $46 for my smog check! I got extremely lucky and showed up when there was no wait whatsoever. The wait room was nice and cool (it was about a million degrees outside) and the staff was really friendly. I only write reviews when warranted and Poway Smog Station defiantly deserves the best review. I went today and was in and out of there in no time. The staff was extremely nice and their prices where the lowest of anywhere I could find. This was by far the best smog experience I've ever had. Their waiting room was clean and nice with space, A/C, water and flat screen for. The woman working the counter was very thoughtful and put on a movie per my kids request. They even gave my kids a calendar which was a kind gesture. Without question I'll be going here for now on whenever I need a smog test.
