This is the way customer service should be! I had a hose on my carpet cleaner break and this is the closest authorized repair shop to me for Bissell warranty repairs. I called and they had the part on hand, but they needed me to drop it off and await their call when it was finished due to other projects already lined up. Once they heard I lived about an hour away, they told me to bring it right in and give them about 30-45 minutes, they would push it to the front of the line so I wouldn't have to make the trip twice. They went out of their way to show they wanted my business, unlike some other businesses that would make it seem like they were doing me a favor. This place will definitely be my go to place if ever I needed another repair to be made. read more

First left a VM to describe the problem with our steam carpet cleaner -tried to figure if it was worth fixing. Got a return message the next day explaining what the problem might be and giving me a rough estimate of repair cost. It was well below the purchase price, so I brought it in. Great customer service, friendly and knowledgeable. When I came in to pick it up, they also took time to explain what was repaired and how I could avoid problems in the future. These guys are awesome! We were nervous to pay the big bucks for a good vacuum. But it's proven to be a good expenditure. We feel like we got good advice from friendly and knowledgeable employees. We were pleasantly surprised to get a hand written thank you note expressing appreciation for our purchase a few days later (who does that anymore?!). But we were especially pleased today to pick up our vacuum that we feared had died on us. The guys at Poway Sewing & Vacuum Center cleaned our vacuum in addition to bringing it back to life... for free! They claim that we're entitled to two free servicings. Imagine that! Bottom line: If you're looking for a nice new vacuum, give these guys a chance before you go to a big box store (i.e. Target or Best Buy). read more

I have used Poway Vacuum and Sewing for repairs and service on my sewing machine and also my vacuums over the years. They have always been extremely helpful and giving me excellent advice for proper use and care of my machines so that I can avoid future problems. I recently took my vacuum in because it lacked suction even after disassembling it myself rather extensively. I brought it to them for service and it now runs better than ever. I'm so happy with the performance they were able to reinstate. They gave me excellent advice of things I can do in the future to prevent this happening again. I have also called them before to inquire about whole house vacuum systems and other information and they always give excellent advice. I wholeheartedly recommend this company. read more

I had my shampoo cleaner checked up. They are charging me 120 for almost the same amount it costs if I buy a new one at same brand and style, which is 150 bucks. I told them I won't get it repaired for now and think about it. When I got home, I noticed they unscrewed the bottom brush and didn't put back a small part of it. They claim they never touched it at all. They are playing tricks so I could come back. My carpet shampoo cleaner at least worked before, just needs to replace the belt. Now it's total garbage and have no use anymore. I talked to them I about. They claim will just "keep an eye" of that part and make a phone call. Do you think I could trust these crooks? No! Never again I will come back there. They are one of those people who will take advantage of a female too. I had my regular vacuum cleaner there at the same time. They charged me 50 bucks just to clean it. No other parts replaced except a filter which costs less than 10 bucks. I don't want to by a new one. Original price was 100 bucks when I bought that machine. I have to call them week by week because they never call. It took three weeks when I finally called again to see if the filter was installed and when to pick it up. I give the benefit of the doubt on the shampoo cleaner that they may forgot to put the part back. But the again it could be a trick for me to come back and pay them 120 bucks from just cleaning and placing a belt. It would not change, however, that they have removed the part where the shampooer brush is connected and did not put it back. Now it's totally useless. And I think that 50 bucks charge for cleaning is expensive. read more

Great experience with this business. Just purchased a Miele canister vacuum. My wife and I talked with Russ and he answered all of our questions, very knowledgeable, helpful, and easy to talk with. There was no 'pushy' sales tactics or any pressure to 'buy now.' We had done our research ahead of time and were pretty convinced we wanted a Miele vacuum and so far very happy with it; Russ helped validate our preference for this brand and helped to determine the appropriate model for our needs. What a nice guy!! Fun, energetic, courteous, just nice! I have a 20+ old BabyLock sewing machine that has been used to DEATH, and I thought it finally reached the end of its life when it started breaking thread. Other than my husband's quick "oil & vacuum", it was serviced only once years ago. Poway Sewing & Vacuum suggested their basic "clean & tune" service to start. I was ready to look for another sewing machine, but mine came back as good as new after this basic service. Not a penny more. They even replaced a dead light bulb after adjusting the timing that was causing the break of the thread :). Zero pressure to purchase a newer & greater expensive machine. I recently purchased a Bernina sewing machine. I decided to buy here because of the customer service. Lisa is awesome!! Not only is she incredibly knowledgeable about all things Bernina, she is herself quite an accomplished seamstress and quilter. My 730E is a powerhouse machine. It does so many things it can be overwhelming. Lisa is a great instructor. With my purchase I have unlimited "lessons" on my machine. Lisa has given me so many "tips of the trade" and made learning so easy. I was not an experienced seamstress before this purchase-- but I am well on way! I had such a positive experience with this store that I just had to take the time to praise them. Just yesterday I went there with not one but two vacuum cleaners that weren't spinning their magic. I was met at the counter by David who after a brief examination quickly assessed the problem, which turned out to be minor for both and had them both humming in no time. Needless to say I felt like a complete ignoramus as to my inability to figure out the problem, but David assured me that it was common. I've been doing business with this shop for a long time. Some of the prices they have on supplies can be higher than you'd find on the internet, but the advice and helpfulness of the staff make up for it. They sell custom vacuums from France & Germany (as well as pre-owned models) and have a repair and maintenance shop on premises. These guys are really friendly and service is fast too. They may be a bit hard to find (the shop is located immediately past the Arco gas station on Poway Rd on the South side of the road) but you really need to drop by and seem them. They're not out to rob you blind (I've shopped around and compared) and their honesty in all they do is refreshing. I recommend going here for sales, service, and supplies; you won't regret it! read more

Poway Sew & Vacuum and Russ C. came as a God send to me when I was going through my Vacuum Crisis of 2013. We learned after replacing the floors in our new remodeled home, we would void the warranty on our beautiful new floors (carpet (wool/silk and berber style), hardwood and travertine) using our strong suctioned Dyson. I had been searching and trying vacuums out for months. I was set on the Miele S8 Uniq and I had one on order from Amazon and for the first time ever and with 3 years of Amazon Prime history, they messed up an order on a $1500 vacuum snd didn't deliver it to me as promised. I vacuum daily (allergies, dogs and construction dust no joke) . On a fluke, my husband called and spoke to Russ and we got there 30 min before closing. Showed us how to use it, answered ALL of my questions (and I ask a lot) and I got personal service and he also offered me an extended warranty! The entire staff at the echoes the customer service I received when I first bought my vacuum and it wasn't just about the sale. They have been amazing always answer my questions and just a real pleasure to work with. Won the lottery at Poway Sewing and Vacuum! I brought in a broken vacuum, they diagnosed the problem, contacted the manufacturer for the part, found out the part is no longer made, but the vacuum was still under warranty! They ordered a brand new vacuum for me, put it together, and what did they charge me ??? Nothing! They easily could have charged me for their time and work (easily an hour+ with the diagnosis, calls, and assembly). Russ is very honest and I would feel very good about using them again. I had a 1929 singer 99 electric motor repaired by Matt. Quick diagnosis, the machine had a sort of zappy feel when touched so Matt rewound (?) the motor. Plus took care of everything possible. Had our vacuum cleaner looked at and the handle was fixed as a result of the expert knowledge of the store. We did not even realize that the handle was bent but he showed us with a good vacuum what it was supposed to look like. I am very satisfied that they were able to fix our vacuum for under $60 and got it back to us in a short amount of time. I actually took my second vacuum there to get the real for the cord fixed. I went here to purchase a vacuum cleaner, with prior research, near closing time and was greeted by the owner who actually listened to what I wanted in the vacuum. Russ was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about vacuums and his products. There are also several types of carpet on the floor, in which you can test your vacuum. The prices are comparable to what you find online, but I would suggest going there for the quality customer service. I will be coming back here for all of my vacuum needs. Only reason it did not get the last star is their small amount of inventory. I wish they had a larger selection of vacuum brands. Just FYI: most vacuum technicians believe that buying a quality vacuum under $200 dollars is impossible, due to the cheaper parts and construction. Brought my 9 year old vacuum in because it was not working properly (electrical issue). Received a call a few hours later, & the problem was a loose handle. Not only was the estimate free, but they didn't charge anything for tightening the handle AND they cleaned up my vacuum so that it looked shiny & new! Outstanding Integrity and Service! We brought 2 vacuums to them for repairs. We got them back after two days and had used them for about a week when both quit working. Then my daughters vacuum quit working too. We were upset, thinking that they had not taken care of things. We were so wrong!!! We brought all 3 in and told them that they had serviced 2 of them earlier but now they were not working. They IMMEDIATELY opened them up and looked inside. When they did they found a broken belt, a 16 penny nail, and a piece of wood that were the cause of our problems. In 10 minutes were were out the door with a new belt and three functioning vacuums AT NO CHARGE. What outstanding integrity! Even though the problems were our own doing they just wanted to make sure the customer was happy. They have won our business for life. read more

I have an older model Miele vacuum. Some parts were worn out, and I could have ordered them online, but I came in to the store for an expert advice. Not only I got the part I needed right away, I got some great advice on what to watch out for to extend the life expectancy of my vacuum. Once I got home, I checked the price of the part online, and was surprised to find that the store charges the same as Amazon and other web retailers. My elderly father and his caregiver took his Shark vacuum cleaner to Poway Sewing and Vacuum Center. We had no idea why it wasn't working which concerned me that the repair cost could exceed the replacement cost. However, a gentleman, possibly the owner, who examined it determined that the filter only needed to be cleaned out. He cleaned it out and also cleaned the other parts of the vacuum cleaner, free of charge. While it may have been a minor fix, his honesty and integrity, kindness, and generosity were greatly appreciated. Our families will undoubtedly bring our sewing machine and vacuum cleaners to this store for any future needs. I hope that anyone in need of these repair services will do the same- these are the businesses that we want to support! read more

Finally had to write this review after being frustrated again using my degraded Miele. After 15 years, the motor in my Miele vacuum started making noise, and it was time for a replacement. The older, gentlemanly man who I spoke with in the Poway Vacuum and Sewing store, assured me he could get a replacement motor from Miele, and make the repair. When the vacuum was finally returned to me, I noticed the suction was significantly reduced. when I asked him about it, he said "the newer motors do not have the same suction capability as the older motors [from Miele]". I didn't really know what to say. "So, what now? It doesn't work as well". He said he could put the old motor back in If I wanted. Of course, no refund was ever discussed. I couldn't believe it. He was matter-of-fact about the whole thing, as if either I should have known or should have asked if the repair would yield the same performance as previous. I mentioned something about doing business with him, not Miele, but he shrugged it off. And that was that. Now my $700 vacuum, known for great suction, does not work well, and again, after using it today, I'm forced to consider buying another vacuum. Poor service, attitude, everything. Stay away from this store. read more
