I recently brought in our Dyson cordless vacuum for service. They replaced the filter and a compete service for $159.00. I took the vacuum home, attempted to use it and it stopped working. I tried charging the battery, which is brand new from Dyson and it did not charge or not working. Returned to this repair shop, and the guy told me the motor needed to be replaced. I asked if they checked it and said they have no idea when it will go out. Cost estimate from them to replace was $299, Dyson offered to send me one for $130. read more

MARK YOUR STUFF BEFORE BRINGING IT IN!!! BE AWARE!!! CON ARTIST!!! I brought my Windsor upright vacuum in for a new blade and roller. Normally I buy the parts myself and repair it myself. This time I decided to let Encinitas Sewing & Vacuum Store do the repair. BIG, BIG MISTAKE. When I picked up the vacuum, it looked different. Since my wife and bi monthly house cleaner use the vacuum the most, I asked the both of them to look at it for their opinion. Both said that it was not our vacuum immediately with no hesitation. Our house cleaner has been with us for over 15 years in the same house. The motor section was the same, but the middle section where the vacuum bag is located was totally beat up with deep gashes and a sticker on the back from Vac+Plus dated 2008 which was never on there before. Like I said before, I have worked on this vacuum many times as it comes apart very easy. The motor and handle also disconnect from the bag section easily. I try to keep my stuff pretty clean and the vacuum WAS in great shape. What they did was kept my bag section of the vacuum and connected it to a motor on another vacuum and gave us a beat up one and a really dirty one with a gray hose attachment, and ours was white. My wife and I drove back to the store about a 1/2 hour after I picked it up with the vacuum and spoke with the manager. Sorry, I cannot remember his name. We got no where with him and we decided to never go back. We have lived right up the street for the last 39 years from the vacuum store and it would have been so convenient for us to be able to buy parts or to service our vacuum there.... but this will never happen. This place has good quality vacuum cleaners and good service. I have bought 2 here for two different homes in 2 different styles.

Fantastic experience today at Encinitas Sewing and Vacuum. We just had new carpet installed and the carpet layers told us that our current vacuum cleaner would damage our new carpet. We looked on line for a replacement vacuum but we're totally confused by the lack of information about available vacuums. So we searched for a local store and found Encinitas S &V nearby. We were very impressed by Anna who was both very friendly and knowledgeable about what we needed. We were first somewhat surprised by the prices of high end vacuum cleaners and left to google pricing online. We came to the conclusion that Anna's price was actually a great choice. I had a terrible experience at Encinitas Vacuum the other day. I have NEVER received such disingenuous almost mean-spirited service. I agree with Rich K.'s review of 10/14/2023. I called in to their company and was told by the man on the phone that I could bring in my Sebo vacuum for him to take a look at. I really just need a new hose and I have put duct tape on it. My husband put the vacuum in the car for me as I have a bad shoulder and it is heavy. I pulled my car right up to their front door. My vac is pretty old and if need be I was in the market to purchase a new one from them. The woman inside told me they would not come to the back of my car, 15-20 steps away, to take a look. As Rich K. said, they wanted money for that. (I wasn't told that by the man on the phone.) I was flabbergasted? The man just stood there. They would not even bring it in for me. She seemed to think it was no big deal if I just left. I told her it was so bizarre and that I could have been possibly buying a new one from them. She didn't care and had a weird smile on her face. After spending several hundred dollars purchasing and servicing my vacuums, will never return to this shoddy business. I picked up my Dyson Vacuum after leaving it for over a month to have a hose repaired. Well, it failed to function, so back I went. Without trying out the machine the woman owner told me it was most likely clogged and I must leave it. Furthermore, she added I would need to pay another 60.00 to get it unclogged. I asked for clarification as to where it might be clogged and she said something about a narrow hose that bends and clogs frequently. She went on to explain that when people go home with their recently repaired vacuums, their houses are so dirty they sometimes vacuum up socks, etc. and clog up their vacuums. Yes, she honesty said that to me. I then asked exactly where this supposedly clogged hose was located on my vacuum and was told she would not tell me because that's how they make their money. All I can say is this is not a quality business. They do not stand behind their work. This review was reported to me by my wife. read more

Went to buy a new Miele with a HEPA filter. They had wax what we wanted and the pro pack of bags and filters! So much better than 3 bags at a time! Our new vacuum worked perfectly UNTIL I dropped it from a 6-foot ladder two weeks after purchase. I took it back to Encinitas Sewing & Vacuum fearing the worst. I thought I'd have too but a whole new vacuum. But they fixed it! Every last broken bit! I three days! For way less than I expected! They are miracle workers and so nice! Encinitas Sewing & Vacuum is a perfect embodiment of a well run small local business, I can't recommend them enough. I remember buying my first vacuum there back in 2012, when our son was diagnosed with severe asthma. After going over our goals vs options with the very professional and experienced owner, I walked out with bright yellow HEPA filtered Miele Complete C3 Calima vacuum, which was, according to him, was supposed to work great for years. Salvador was 100% right. For 11 years that vacuum worked flawlessly, despite complete lack of maintenance and all kind of messes what two-kids + three dogs household threw at it:) To this day, it remained one of the best rated Miele models. Yesterday, I discovered that our vacuum is missing one of the electric cord prongs. I immediately drove to the vacuum shop, feeling slightly guilty about not bringing the vacuum for maintenance even once and terrified that the repair will take forever. I was greeted by Ana, who, just like her boss all those years ago, went over the options with me and promised to get it back to me ASAP. Believe it or not, I got my vacuum back the same day- with a newly cleaned motor, a new cord and a new HEPA filter - just in time to clean up a mess from our dogs ripping apart a paper bag with flour across our living room. Impressively, during the maintenance, Salvador found some slightly burnt wiring (likely, from liquid getting on it). While it did not affect the performance of the vacuum at the time, it was guaranteed to become a problem soon. He replaced the burnt out part for free and Ana gave me a thumbs up and promised that our freshly clean vacuum will work great for years and I believe it will. read more

This place is the biggest rip-off ripped off my 91-year-old mom my father just recently passed away a month ago she only needed one attachment they talked her into buying a whole new meleie vacuum she took it out of the box and tried it 1 time and we brought it back and they said no refunds there are no signs posted there only a sign that says 30 days which is misleading it's talking about vacuums that are being repaired there that would be taken away if somebody doesn't pick up their old vacuum after 30 day!!! the receipt has it at the very very bottom very faintly stated there is no refunds only exchanges but that is after you have purchased your item They don't talk about it they don't mention it and they just ignore it thinking like you're not gonna ask anyhow today finally after Anna the owner lied saying that she doesn't own that place and telling us some fake man name Oscar is the owner who is gonna call us who couldn't call me while I was standing right there and I refused to leave until she took care of this finally agreed to give us a partial refund if we bought this other thing that my mom doesnt even need!! We like to patronize local businesses But this place is the Real reason why Amazon and other big box places are so much easier to deal with that are very easy and friendly when needing to return an item. If you can avoid this place please do call Poway vacuum and Sew in Poway they are the nicest have a 30 day refund policy ask for Jesse tell him Robin sent to you! Salvador came to my home said I needed new hose, additional head for carpet & filter. Bill was $815. Yikes, and the hose he brought was 5ft longer than the one I wanted and I still can't fit it in my closet area. I asked to him to replace it, he said no as longer was better. Well not for me, I'm all of 93lbs and little it's way too much. I've only used the system 3 times since he was here back in June as there is no suction and the motor on the Central Vac carpet won't even power up??? These people are absolute criminals. Stay away!! Took our very expensive Italian vacuum to repair the clip that makes it stand up. Returned multiple times to be told the part was on order. Every time they tried to sell us a new vacuum. Every time, Salvador & Anna, said they would call us when it was ready. They never called us! We went to pick up & guess what, they don't have it & they actually threatened us w the sheriff. We went to the sheriffs ourselves & were told we had to file in small claims court. Took my Miele vacuum in for a regular service. I was slightly apprehensive because of some unfavorable reviews, but I had an outstanding experience! In addition to the mechanical tune-up, they cleaned it inside and out so it looks brand new. I also received a few tips on filter and bag changing that I had not been aware of. And, amazingly, my vacuum was ready for pick up just a couple hours after I dropped it off - wow! I was very impressed with everything, and it also helps that they have convenient hours. read more

Took my vacuum in for replacing the motor. I was told to leave the vacuum and that it could take up to 2 weeks. An hour later I got a call from Anna saying that it would be ready in 1 and a half hours. Salvadore had already started work putting in a used motor. I would have gladly waited for a new motor. When I came to pick it up Anna showed me a piece that they went ahead and put on my handle. Did not want it after using vacuum the third time it heated up, started smoking and the motor died. I spent $125 for nothing. I have to go buy a new vacuum. I know now that they changed parts on my vacuum or gave me a totally different one. They are cheats and thieves. Do not ever go there. COVID-18 rating: F- Had mask sitting on n counter, never put it on, no distancing. I'm not a doctor so I have no idea if it helps, but why be on the wrong side of history. Had a Dyson vac repaired here a couple months ago. Replaced the clutch looked complicated so thought I'd have a professional do. Can't say for sure if it was the wife or bad repair, but it's broken again. OH, and when I went to pick it up he had given it to another customer, he had them bring it back then I had to go collect it again. Only positive thing I'd say, I needed central vac bags. He did have them in stock, $36 for 5 bags compared to $24 for 6 on Amazon, mentioned it and he sold me the bags for $26 for 5. They're OEM for Modern Day central so good quality. read more

I stopped by a few weeks ago and an older woman who was there was not helpful, saying I needed to buy an expensive new part for the Miele vacuum cleaner I had purchased there. I was unhappy with her dismissive attitude so I took my vacuum cleaner home and repaired it myself! Recently I called to ask a question about my electronic sewing machine. The woman who answered the phone sounded like the same woman I had previously encountered in the store. She was evasive, wouldn't even tell me the name of the repairman . When I told her I preferred to speak with him because he had been so helpful when I spoke with him before she said his name was Salvador but he didn't repair sewing machines. She said she had a special technician who would be the person to repair my sewing machine and she wouldn't even tell me his name, saying the owner would not let her give out his name. What is wrong with this company that they have such an unhelpful person supposedly serving customers??? Of course I'll take my sewing and vacuum cleaner needs to a business that is more service oriented. I am so sorry this is the case. I used to like to come to this place but won't any more after not one but two unfortunate experiences. To say that woman is bad for business is an understatement! read more

I was told my sewing machine would be impossible to fix. The fellow "could not even give me an estimate of cost" because it was too difficult for him to do without opening the machine!" Sewing machine repairmen are few and far between but I was extremely lucky to have a referral for Encinitas Sewing and Vacuum. The repair guy charged a little bit more b/c my machine has a built-in computer. I agreed to the charge gladly hoping I would not have to buy a new machine. He fixed the machine in two days time, cleaned interior and exterior carrier as well. The receptionist was responsive to my concern and called me right away so I could pick it up before the long Christmas Holiday. So I came to the store a month ago with a broken sewing machine. I didn't use it at all until today only to find out it didn't work. I noticed the employee there was different from the person who had helped me a month ago. Today, it was Salvador behind the desk, and he was most helpful. He fixed the sewing machine within minutes and despite me forgetting the electric line, he provided me with one and showed that the machine was now functional. He was informative and professional, a clear expert with his work. Thank you so much Salvador. Word of advice: I see that there are many 1/5 and 5/5's, which seem like polarizing reviews. Came in here for an inspection of our vacuum due to weak suction. I was expecting to drop it off and later, get a diagnosis and cost. I thought this was a good price and they did a good job, promptly. I took a second Dyson stick vacuum to the location in Encinitas because it was closer to my house. I was charged over $70 for the same service on the same vacuum. When I questioned the pricing and told him what I paid at the other location, he basically called me a liar and said that was not possible. My 10 year old Dyson vacuum wasn't working properly. The brush was spinning but wasn't brushing with any gusto. I called Dyson and they referred me to Encinitas Sewing & Vacuum. So glad they did. I called ahead and told the person on the phone what was happening. Without hesitation he told me what was necessary. I couldn't bring it in right away, so when I did, I don't think he remembered our phone call. In any case, Salvador greeted me right away when I went to the store today. I told him the problem and he quickly looked at a few things. He told me exactly what he said over the phone as well as the same cost. He did however mention that the filters should be changed as well. The cost didn't go up as much as it would have if I bought filters separately, so I went ahead and included it with the repair. He told me he would have it finished before the end of the day. As I was leaving I noticed a check in bonus on Yelp. They offered a special price on service here with a Yelp check in. So I went back in to ask if that discount could be applied and he agreed. I received a call a few hours later that the machine was ready to be picked up. When I was about ready to leave, I remembered that we were missing the hand tools for the vacuum. I asked if he sold them there and he brought out a few items, put them on my machine and said have a great day! Very cool and appreciated!
