I grew up in Portland, as an adult for many years Powell Vet. Clinic was the only place I took my pets. I moved to Montana close to 20 years ago but, I come back off and on. A couple weeks ago I came back to Portland to spend time with high school friend under hospice care do to cancer. I decided to bring my little dog Noah. All was well at first but he suddenly became ill. No longer having a vet in Portland I called my old one, Powell Vet. Clinic. They got us in that afternoon, still had my information from years past. It turned out my little man was in cardiac arrest and declining quickly, so he didn't suffer I made the heart wrenching decision to end his suffering and let him go. Everyone at the clinic was incredible. I chose to have him cremated, the front desk gal said she would personally make sure his remains were sent to me in Montana. Leaving the state of Oregon without Noah was incredibly difficult having to trust strangers with Noah. The other day I received a text from the office manager letting me know my little Noah was on his way home, I cant thank everyone enough for all they did that day and getting Noah back home. We recently were seen for my dog's broken tooth. The visit went well and the staff we encountered were friendly enough, but there was no follow-through on things promised and it ultimately will be the reason I switch vets. It's a bummer because the 2nd provider we saw was knowledgeable and very friendly, however, the administrative and/or clinical staff dropped the ball, and I don't feel like things will get handled in a timely or accurate manner at this clinic. We were seen on Friday for my dogs fractured tooth, surgery was scheduled for the following Wednesday (we were so happy we could get in so quickly!) We were told that we would have the price estimate before end of day that day and that we could call Tuesday with any questions (the clinic was closed on the weekend and Monday for Memorial Day) We were also told that someone would call on Tuesday to discuss all lab results to ensure that my dog was a good candidate to go under anesthesia. Neither of the things happened that we were told were going to happen. After 2 voicemails left by me and about 5 calls to the vet on Tuesday, we finally received the price estimate around 10am (the procedure was scheduled the next day at 8am). The estimate was $1,300 more than the previous estimate we had gotten from our old vet in Vancouver, WA. We were not expecting that much higher of a price- so we cancelled the surgery as we felt it was being overcharged. My dog also had some abnormal labs come back that I only found out about because I asked that they email me the vet report during one of my many calls to get the price estimate. I called 2 or 3 time to see if someone was available to discuss the abnormal labs with me, which each time we were told we would get a call to go over.... that never happened. The first visit we ever had here was somewhat okay. The vet forgot to refill my dog's emergency seizure medication even after being told it was something she would do. So that was a little bit of a hassle, and we went a few extra days with expired meds. Not really the end of the world. Overall, nice-ish people working here but I do not trust that they will follow through on what is being said and that makes me very nervous with trusting them to care for my animals. There seem to be much cheaper and more reliable places to go to, so that is what we will do. read more

Powell's vet is fine. We've been bringing our dog here for several years now, mainly because it's close to our home. The front desk people are great and helpful and friendly with our dog. Most of the Doctors are extremely nice, though a couple give off the vibe that they became veterinarians because they like dissecting stuff, not because they like animals. Generally the service is fast and close to our appointment time. Not today though, which is why I'm using this time to finally write a review. The most interesting thing of note is that EVERY photo, poster, chart or piece of paper posted on the wall is PROFOUNDLY crooked. It's become a point of conversation and fascination with my wife and I every time we visit. To not have a single level piece of paper in the entire building is downright impressive. read more

Something very shady is going on here. I've been a happy customer of Powell Vet for over a year now, and the care my pet has received has been thorough and effective. The staff are friendly and clearly have a passion for animal wellness. I have no complaints on this end of things. They do a good job. When I first brought my pet in, I knew of some procedures she might need. The examination confirmed that yes, at some point a tooth extraction would be absolutely necessary. It was immediately recommended that I sign up for their wellness plan. Not only would it cover doctor visits, trimmings, and vaccinations, but it would cover the cost of the procedure my pet needed. This was great news as I understood a tooth extraction could be potentially costly. Several months later, the extraction procedure was scheduled and completed. I have reason to believe it was done well, as my pet recovered quickly and is now doing just fine. Again, their quality of care is standard if not better. Immediately following the procedure, still holding my pet, I get a call from the desk to collect payment. The cost was enormous. I protested, I told them my understanding was that medications may need to be paid for out of pocket, but the procedure is covered by the health plan. They claimed that whoever told me must not have known. I found this wildly unprofessional and insufficient, but they had my pet, so what was I going to do? I asked them if I can pay the bill in increments. They said no. There's my money out the window. For whatever reason, I chalked this up as an honest mistake. Pets can be expensive, and this being my first, I figured this was just par for the course. Things seemed to go fine from there. Doctor visits and trims continued to be covered, the quality of care was good, and the clinic is very close to where I live. I saw no need to change. The next incident occured last month. I received a call saying that they were having trouble charging for my wellness plan, and were requesting I pay immediately. The strange thing about this is that the monthly payment for my wellness plan had already been taken from my account. I have the receipts to prove this. I explained as much and they said they'd look into it. I never heard about that particular incident again. A few weeks ago I'd brought my pet in for a general examination and consultation. Due to covid-19 protocol, visits happen over the phone while you wait in the parking lot. It was over the phone discussing options for treatment that I was told the wellness plan programs were discontinued. I was shocked. I had not been notified of this. I expressed this to them and they said, in their own words, "we'll be waiving your visit fee today because you didn't know the wellness plans are no longer offered". Generous. This morning I received a call. They were having problems charging my account for the monthly wellness plan. Interesting, considering it's not supposed to exist any more. I know this because I was told explicitly that my latest visit fees were WAIVED because of the wellness plan being discontinued! I was given the same "we'll talk to a supervisor" response as when they tried to double charge my account. I wonder if I'll hear back this time. At this point, I can no longer bring myself to give them the benefit of the doubt for these convenient miscommunications. Either the logistics of their financial department are the most dysfunctional in the business, or something less than honest is going on here. That's not for me to figure out. I'm not going to be their customer anymore. In short, if you want to receive care from Powell Vet, the quality of care your pet will receive is as good as anywhere, but you'd better have the funds and the patience for it. read more

We saw Dr Flora today and couldn't be happier with the service provided!! My dog has been seeing random veterinarians since we moved here six months ago and now we finally have found a permanent vet! First impression went well, but overtime we noticed the clinic was lacking communication, attention to detail and proper care for our loved one. Our vet was amazing after the first visit, so we went on the puppy plan immediately. Getting on the puppy plan was a headache as the staff was not sure how to proceed with the curbside pickup during the Oregon state stay-at-home order. We were told different processes and prices until we finally reached an office manager to set us up. Continuing our care we no longer met with the wonderful vet, but technicians and office managers that did not seem very caring for our situations as puppy owners during this time. We tried to understand that the climate spring 2020 is difficult to navigate as a business, but it seemed they were not engaged with our family and only caused difficulties along the way. We were not provided a vaccination plan or a way to track our wellness progress, so left it up to the clinic. Things were consistently missed (nail trimmings, we had to request a vaccination that was not discussed or offered over 2 months of being with the clinic). There seems to be so much oversight and we really had to fight for care. We would call with an issue and be rushed off the phone or told to just come in (but we only get so many "free" visits for the year!) We ended up "paying out" our puppy plan contract as they require the full year. We did state that we were frustrated with our pups health care, so I do not think the office manager will be surprised by this review when she responds. I am sorry, but we would not recommend this clinic. Please note: We never met anyone in person as we adopted during the Covid19 pandemic. We would like to think things would be different if we were able to meet with the staff in person. I caution parents to consider this before going on a set plan, so you do not have to buy out of the one year contact. Profoundly disappointing. My now deceased cat was a patient there and I called to make an appt. for my new cat and was told they are not taking on new "patients." That would compare to a family doctor who wouldn't take a new baby in a family that was treating an older child. I was the client, my cat was the patient. I find the logic ridiculous. There is little ethical practice or customer service anywhere now and these little incidents only lead to the larger culture of anger and frustration that plague our world right now. read more

I have to echo a previous reviewer who mentioned feeling like Powell Vet Clinic uses fear to prey on your wallet. I'm now in the process of looking for a new vet due to my last visit here. During a recent appointment, I refused a biopsy for my geriatric cat. She's 16 and my priority is her quality (not quantity) of life. However, the technician was really judgey about my reasons for opting out and tried to badger me into changing my mind. It didn't work and it was just really awkward. Fast forward three hours later. It was suspected my cat had one of two different illnesses. My vet immediately jumps to cancer, AGAIN suggested a biopsy and gave a recommendation for a future chemo treatment plan if the results detected cancer. I asked to treat for the less serious possible illness as a starting point. Again, more pushback and pressure for the more expensive options. Even if I kept coming back, I cannot trust that my vet is doing what's best for my animals. read more

Disappointed. We tried scheduling an appointment with our longtime vet Katy Felton at our local clinic that doesn't need to be named. They failed to mention WHY we couldn't schedule with her for our annual visit, just that she was not available that day. They then proceeded to bump us from our scheduled appointment saying that had too many emergencies that day. Also, they required we medicate our 14year old pug WITHOUT teeth before they could trim his nails b/c of his aggressive nature. Think about that..... It would have been nice to be notified that the vet we've trusted with 5 dogs has left the practice. They are great, expensive but great! So far I have only been to this Powell Boulevard location with my animals (my older dog Gnof) when there was an emergency situation, of course. The staff is knowledgeable, the technicians are caring, and the doctors are thorough. There is a huge reception area, fireplace and all, to welcome you and your pet. Food and treats and special medicine are all available for pick up. You can pre-order on the phone. Free parking located outside. When you enter the building, you can choose between stairs or a ramp way, the latter for wheelchairs and dogs who are older and don't like staircases. Like mine. I am going to check them out next time for regular care, an annual check up of my cats. Hopefully I will get a price break when I bring multiple patients... read more

My cat-son Floyd, an orange fluff-ball of Tabby, has gone to this vet clinic since we moved to PDX in '10. We just had to switch vets, from moving across town. I initially considered not switching because I liked this place so much, but it would have just been too inconvenient to do that right now. So sadly, I had his records sent over to the new vet I picked for my ginger snapples. Powell Blvd Vet Clinic sent the records over in record-time (hehe). They treated the both of us well & I felt they took great care of Floyd, whether he was feeling under-the-weather or just needed his annual exam/shots. They have a beautiful (for a vet clinic) waiting room, where dogs & their people wait in the front of the waiting area to be seen, and cats & their people wait in a different section in the back. This made my kitty much less nervous overall at the vet. Also, all of the rooms were bright, some even had windows. The exam rooms are bigger than those at most clinics. Overall, there is a semi home-y touch to this place, verses your standard, boring vet clinic interior, and I believe this also helps the animals waiting to be seen to be less anxious. If I ever move closer to this place, I will definitely be switching Floyd back here. Thank you, PBVC, for taking care of my son for the past three years. :-) **Update: After getting Floyd his routine vaccines/annual exam last year at your average run-of-the-mill vet clinic across town, we have returned back to PBVC. The five stars is for Dr. Drennen. She is young and a relatively new vet, but I love her. She isn't afraid to get her hands dirty (quite literally) and handles my dog who is terrified of the vet really well. She genuinely cares about my pets. I never feel rushed or dismissed. She answers all my questions even when I have a million of them. Dr. Drennen is amazing with my dog who is extremely terrified of the vet and has displayed some fear aggression (snarls). She's so gentle and calming and has never once had to muzzle him even though she's needed to do some pretty invasive procedures on him. I have had some less than stellar visits with other vets at Powell BLVD, but since we started seeing Dr. Drennen, everything has been wonderful. read more

I chose Powell Blvd Vet Clinic back in 2002 because I lived close to there and it was convenient for me and my 2 yr old black lab, Dean. Over the years, Dean developed more and more issues and we became regulars there, especially when he joined their senior wellness program. Dr Felton there proved to be an invaluable asset to us. When he neared the end of his 13 years, she was direct and honest with us while remaining compassionate. She informed us of our options as he began to have internal organ failure. She said that surgery was an option but he may not survive it and it would only give him a few more months, during which he would be in pain. She didn't try to pressure me into any expensive options and gave me a referral to a great agency that did home euthanasia services. After he passed, they made a donation to a vet school in his name. So, when I got my new girl, Ava, there was no question as to where I was going to take her. At the time, it wasn't the closest or most convenient location but I wouldn't trust anyone else with our animals. read more

I have two little dogs, one is a nervous wreck that is scared of everything, and the other is the best Chihuahua in the world. I have been coming to Powell Vet since I moved to Portland seven years, and I have nothing but good things to say. My Chihuahua recently started having accidents in the house, and peeing all over everything. Turns out he has diabetes, and needs shots 2x a day for the rest of his life. Dr. Felton and Dr. Flora have been nothing short of fantastic. They are both very kind and compassionate, and always are willing to answer my questions, no matter how small they may be. read more

If possible I would give ZERO stars. I have seven reasons to finally sign up for yelp and post a review. 1) My kitten, Lucifer died shortly after I took him to Powell Blvd. Veterinary Clinic. 2)The first thing that was a red flag was the"vet" promptly shamed me about the state of my kitten.(Gee, I'm sorry are all animals you are used to seeing in the best of health when they arrive?) 3)I was told with an icy cold stare that the only way they would help me was if I signed up for a credit card to pay for an ultra sound and a future $1,500 surgery (Basically, all of my rent for a month) otherwise there was nothing they could do for me. 4)When I protested, I was given antibiotics and pain meds and told to go home and feed my kitten wet food. I paid almost $300 dollars for this "service". 5) I left feeling guilt tripped, shamed and worried. I noted a heightened callousness in the staff after explaining my income level. The vet's tone as well changed from well meaning to a kind of aloof stance as though they were actively distancing themselves from the pain my kitten was going through. No real empathy. From reading other low reviews, I am clearly not the only person who has been treated this way.This clinic seems to have a reputation for telling working class poor people, in our community, that we should not have pets if we cannot afford the expensive price of their clinic. 6)I did not appreciate the way in which I was spoken to: very demeaning, as though I could not possibly understand simple veterinary medical jargon.(Note to the staff:You can't tell how intelligent a person is by looking at/guessing their tax bracket) 7) Another Vet's perspective: The emergancy vet at a different hospital, that ultimately tried to save my kittens life said, that if she were examining a kitten she would have known from the symptoms I described and from just feeling around with her hands what was wrong. No expensive ultra sound needed b/c this is a common problem with little kittens. Lucifer had eaten some string and it was blocking his intestine. The ER told me that the practice of using shame and fear when an urgent surgery is needed, is unethical. She went on to say that I did nothing wrong as a pet parent and that a good vet would have worked out a payment plan or tried to help me find a lower cost community vet to help. The ER vet did not charge us for their teams life saving efforts, even though I am sure they could of. My kitten,Lucifer, is dead. We buried him under a monkey puzzle tree in our yard in SE PDX. Keep your dignity and keep your pets alive, choose a better vet. read more

Don't bother calling for an appointment- unless you are referred directly. They aren't accepting new patients now- otherwise.

We've been taking our animals here for years. Within the last few years, every time we go in, we feel like they are trying to upsell as much as possible. It's gotten to the point where I constantly feel like they are deliberately overstating things to make extra $$. We'd love to find a vet who really cares about the animal and just wants to help. The one thing we have liked is that we can usually book an appt day of or next day, which is not the case with most other vets we've gone to, which is the main reason we keep going back. I have taken my dog plenty of other places though, and did not get the same feeling like they are trying to get as much money out of me as possible. A lot of drs we have gone to have actually told me to save my money on tests or procedures I asked them about. I cannot imagine them doing this here. I am a paranoid pet owner, our dog is our baby and I constantly worry about her health. I feel that Powell vet plays off that fear and drains our wallet. We will keep looking for a vet office we can trust. read more

Worst place. Try dog has a severe heart condition and until recently the care was ok. We waited over 30 minutes with very little communication as to what was going on. I spoke with the front desk personnel who was nice but the manager was the worst. She does not care about what is happening except for how it benefits her. The techs are not very knowledgeable and they tend to scatter when questions are asked. If you truly want your pet to have optimal care avoid this place and go somewhere where compassion is part of their mission statement. This place has digested me to the maximum and I will never go back. read more

I had a very mixed experience at Powell Vet Clinic. On the one hand, the staff is very friendly and it's easy to get an appointment, but on the other, I left the clinic feeling like they had tried to sell me some snake oil... I recently adopted a seven-year-old dog from a rescue and knew she had been neglected by her previous owners. The doctor we saw was very friendly and kind, and the issues she diagnosed (skin problems likely due to her previous diet of hot dogs and cheerios) seemed on the mark. She prescribed an ear wash and ointment to clear up the problem and did a thorough exam that found no other major issues. (The ear wash and ointment has since worked like a charm.) But then the vet took a look in the dog's mouth and immediately winced, saying she would give me an estimate for dental surgery. When I asked what was wrong with the dog's mouth, she vaguely responded something about teeth being rotated the wrong way, and some tartar buildup. The estimate itself was for upwards of $600, and that didn't include any extractions, which would be approximately $100 each, and apparently, my dog might need "several". I got a second opinion from a family friend who is a vet, and though she did not see the dog, she found the estimate to be outrageous, unless the dog was suffering from severe periodontal disease, which she is not. I suppose I should have known that a clinic that also bills itself as a "Dental Center" would push expensive dental procedures on clients, so buyer beware...veterinary dental clinics may be the next line of overrpiced, pseudo-specialties, right up there with cosmetic dentistry. read more

It's hard for me to talk about this place it's so bad. I'm not exaggerating when I say they made my dog incredibly ill. He went in for a normal procedure and caught phenomena from it. Not to mention when we brought him home after surgery they put his collar on so tight I could not get my finger underneath it to loosen it. I will spare you all the details of my ordeal, but I hope that you will trust me and do not bring your pet here. I can honestly tell you they do not have your pet's best interest at heart, they do however have your wallet in mind. I was trying to work things out with them when they actually recommended I go elsewhere, then quickly recanted and said they would hate to loose me, this apparently is their way of resolving things. If you love your animals please take them to a different vet, you don't want to take a chance here. read more

I wanted to be sure to update on this amazing clinic and to offer heartfelt thanks. Within the past few months, my wife and I had to say goodbye to one of our aged furry family members. Dr. Felton and her experienced team of techs made us feel welcomed, supported and caring through the process of saying goodbye to our loved one. In the past year, the clinic helped us to weigh treatment options and explore how to best support & extend our dog's quality of life. Dr. Felton carefully explained the costs and benefits to each option, making sure to make us feel supported throughout. When time and our best abilities began to run out, Doc Felton stood by our decision to ease our friend's pain and plan for the best circumstances to send her off. Over the past few years of using this clinic, we've felt strongly that their care has been the best available in Portland. We have been going to Powell Blvd for a couple of years now. We had been going to another local clinic and seemed to be invisible there. On our first visit, my dog, who hated going to the other clinic bounded into the office and was instantly at ease. She got on the scale (which she also hated at the other place) without a fuss because there was a fluffy bath mat instead of just cold metal. Right then and there, I knew we had made a good choice. I had a tough decision to make with elder kitty. Every step of the way, each doctor we worked with was kind, patient, and compassionate. Now my dog is showing signs of maturity. They have made recommendations on supplements, all of which have helped. I have never felt like they were pushing pills or services that were not needed. They are always looking out for us and what will work best. Tonight, they earned their 5th star. I forgot to call in a prescription earlier and when I called just before closing, Malea went above and beyond. She got my prescription filled AND delivered it on her way home! I've been delighted with all the staff there, and this evening was a great example of the kind of folks I want caring for my furry friends. read more

After using their practice for many years they decide to no longer serve my dog. This was the result of me calling to schedule a teeth cleaning and they refusing to give me an estimate of the cost. They were promoting $50 off of dog cleaning, but would tell about how much the procedure would cost--seems odd. I complained and have complained in the recent past about some other things. In the past Dr. Felton had given good care to my dogs. However there was an incident in which the staff failed to notify that my dog had tested positive foe Giardia and only discovered the error after I kept bringing her in for stomach issues. The practice has gotten too large to deliver personalized and reliable care. The Vets. are good, but the staff are way too busy. read more

The veterinarians (we've dealt with three of them...Katy Felton is our favorite) are very pleasant, and genuinely care for the animals. My pet cat of 9 years, Baby, was extremely sick for about a year, and just yesterday I called to have her put down. They were all sympathetic and very kind, and as it turns out, she could be (somewhat) mended! :) Katy Felton told us what the issue was (her gums are literally rejecting her teeth as foreign objects) we decided instead of putting her down she'll instead be on meds for the rest of her life, but happy and in no pain. We've been there before and they have always treated us well, given us very reasonable prices, and have been a solid veterinary clinic for us for two years so far. read more

I've had my dog for almost 9 years now, and I've been blessed with her not really needing any full on vet visits... until recently when she developed a limp. Having only taken Sable to a vet once to get some flea medicine 9 years ago I decided to come back to the same place, the Powell Veterinary clinic. They aren't event remotely close to me, but I didn't want to do the new dog thing and brought her here. I must say I was BLOWN away with the level of care here. Infact, the level of care here was so good even -I- was jealous at how amazing the care here is. I brought sable in for a limping back paw, and they decided to give her a full checkup. They checked all of her legs and paws for a full range of moton, felt for any tumors.. .the whole nine yards! I had a bunch of questions. 9 years without needing a vet results in lots of little things coming up. Overall I must say this vet is so friggen amazing that even HUMAN doctors could learn a thing or six hundred from this office! They stay open late to accommodate people with jobs, they are great to communicate with, they use EMAIL and they are just downright awesome! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Powell Blvd Vet! Dr. Ault (and the entire staff) were so kind, thorough, and gentle with my poor, sick pup. Dr. Ault took time to build rapport with my dog and see how my little guy was doing before recommending treatments. He explained his recommendations well, patiently answered many questions, and gave several options to treatment pursue. I've never felt as welcomed or supported in my decision-making at a veterinary office. The level of thoughtful care was superb. My dog and I both left feeling cared for, with my questions answers, and a bill a third the size of the "inexpensive" vet I typically see. I cannot imagine taking my dog anywhere else now - such high quality care and support during what can be such a emotional time. Yay Dr. Ault! read more

This is a good lesson about always reading reviews of a business. I will never go to this place again. I am not sure how they operate. Either they are way too busy and need to hire more staff or they are completely disorganized and incompetent. (Edit: My care with Dr. Amy Horlings, DVM was great and I have no issues there. It is the staff and techs that will keep me from coming back) A few weeks ago, I had a tele vet appointment for my dog and was prescribed antibiotics and told they would call me when they are ready. I called 3 hours after my appointment about coming to pick up the medication but was told it probably would not be ready that day. Usually when a pet needs antibiotics, it is on the urgent side so I did not want to wait another day. I called a few more times to plead my case about needing the antibiotics. They finally said that they could do it and I got it after closing. Fast forward a few weeks, I am trying to refill my dog's prescription. I am out of town with my dog so I can't come to their clinic and pay double the amount anyway. So I had to figure out how to get the medication. Apparently, you can order your prescriptions on Chewy but they need the prescription from your vet. Since it is antibiotics that I urgently needed, I thought they would have honored the request in a timely manner. But I was wrong. They were faxed a request for the prescription on a Monday and they did not respond back to Chewy until Thursday. And that was with me calling them everyday to ask them to do so. So by the time Chewy got the medications prepared, it wouldn't have gotten to me for many days because it would have been shipped over a holiday weekend. So I opted for plan b which was to pick up the antibiotics at a Walmart pharmacy close to where I am. I cancelled my Chewy order and asked Powell Vet to fax the prescription to the pharmacy. They said they would do it that same morning. Did that happen? Of course not. I don't know why I expected anything different. So here I am. No antibiotics, a pet that needs them, and dealing with a vet clinic with an apparent fax machine malfunction and a disregard for an animal's health and well being. read more

I took Harriet in today for her surgery. The intake chart had her name highlighted in pink, with hearts drawn next to it, and when I picked her up today they gave me a goodie bag with treats for her and chocolates and a water bottle for me. That pretty much says it all. But aside from those, they were very considerate in all the ways. They stuck to the original estimate (which included a pre-surgery visit for bloodwork, included in total cost). Dr. Welker called post-surgery to let me know everything went ok, and when I picked her up the receptionists were kind and helpful (despite about 7 dogs in the lobby at 4pm for pickup/dropoff, etc). The technician gave me instructions for follow up care, and she's in very good shape. I have zero complaints, and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a vet in the SE. read more

We were off to the blues festival last summer when we stopped my the house to pick up our daschund puppy, Gracie. We found her in the backyard, choking violently. we rushed to the closest vet. the people at this clinic was very welcoming and reassuring. Gracie was in to see the vet in less than 5 minutes. I guess she swallowed a stick and it got caught it the back of her throat, silly girl! the vet removed it and gave her antibiotics to help the wounds. she showed us the bill, that got jacked up for the meds, but lowered it because of out financial problems. they also cut her nails, free of charge! im soo great full, now we're dedicated to them! read more

I've been taking my dog here for several years now and he's always quite excited when we show up. Super friendly and clean. They also keep records online and have a great organizational system. Definitely recommended! 4/5 Because they are definitely a little more expensive than the average vet but make up for it with stellar service. Would give a 4.5 if possible. read more

We began visiting Powell Veterinary Clinic a few months ago. We moved because our previous vet did not offer weekend hours. We should have moved over years ago. We came in for what we thought was something minor, only to discivery that our sweet greyhound had cancer and only a short time to live. We visited with Dr. Drennan twice and she was great about following up with phone calls to check in on us, knowing that the news was devistating and tragic to our family. When the time came to euthanize our boy, they were able to come to our home for the procedure, which made the sad experience a little more bearable. Dr. Felton and a tech took care of everything including making sure he body was safely transported to where he would be creamated. I can't say enough nice things about the staff at Powell Veterinary. The loss of our furry family member was horrible, but the one shining light was the staff. We will be brining all of our pets to Powell from now on. Dr. Katy Felton is the best vet I've ever had in decades of having pets. She is thoughtful, present, and brilliant, on top of clearly caring a ton. She has helped my cat through all sorts of issues he's had, helping me to figure out practical and financially feasible solutions that ensures he is still getting the best care. I had the pleasure of taking my high drive working GSD to this clinic upon recommendation from a former employee we know. I was blown away at how well the vet handled my dog. Every vet visit before now has ended with frustrated vets suggesting some form of sedation. Under the care of Chicory Eddy, no sedation was required. She was very cautious and wary of all of my dogs body language and was in fact able to completely flush his left eye, apply test strips to the eye, and then apply ointment; All without sedation of any kind. She was able to do all of this with less protest than I had from him earlier that day just wiping the goop out of the corner of his eye. I was and still am impressed. She was able to answer all of my questions without hesitation. Very patient and competent staff. It wasn't until my visit here that I was able to see the difference between a good vet and an excellent vet. This is now Warrior's primary vet. read more
