From getting a chicken shwarma to chili with chicken, everything is always fresh and delicious. You are paying a little more for higher quality and fresher food. If this place was a little cheaper I'd probably order everyday. $6 for a shake is a little steep. The only thing I've had here that I didn't like was the tabbouleh. The parsley was fresh, but there was literally no dressing on it. This place is the beeeessssstttt. I was out for my usual Saturday morning run down Park Ave, and was looking for something to fuel my body afterward. Power House caught my eye so I decided to give it a try. Great food! Everything is fresh and healthy. They serve a variety of salads, sandwiches, wraps and pitas. Most of the dishes have a Mediterranean twist. I ordered the Power House pita - tabouleh, hummus, avocado and sprouts on a whole wheat pita. It was delish! And very filling. Just the meal I needed after a nice morning run. Power House also has a nice selection of smoothies. Alas, I could not try one this time around. My only complaint with Power House is I wish they offered their smoothies in smaller sizes. I really wanted to order a protein smoothie with my meal. But seeing as how they only come in a 24 oz. size, I knew there was no way my stomach could take all of that, so I ordered a green tea instead. I'll have to drop by again some time soon just to try their smoothies. The service is great too! Almost the second I sat down the waitress was at my table asking if I was ready to order. A large party had come in right before me and she wanted to make sure she got my order in before their's so I wasn't stuck waiting a long time. I was not a regular customer in that time, preferring beer and pizza to sprouts. Well, we stopped in on a recent trip to find it still standing and looking better than ever. Now expanded both in foot print and menu, it seems some Mediterranean has joined the menu of greens and nuts. We had great quick service reasonable price and fresh offerings. I've been here so many times and I can't believe I am now just writing a review for them! This is another Park Ave classic/staple. Go during lunch and you will be rubbing elbows with college students and business professionals. They have quite an extensive menu filled with various smoothies and sandwiches. Their chicken salad is tasty, very fresh, their falafel was just OK, but my favorite and what I think is their best is the powerhouse tuna salad in a pita. This tuna salad comes with crunchy sunflower seeds, raisins, shredded carrots (so shredded you can barely see it) and healthy dose of apple slices all wrapped into a pita. Hands down one of my favorite tuna salads around! The owner George is always there too, greeting and meeting everyone. "Wow" was my initial and final reactions! Upon entering I was immediately greeted and warm welcomed by the owner. Located right on on the corner of Lyman and Park. Can't miss it! Cutest sidewalk outdoor and indoor seating. Very neat, tidy, and clean inside. Easy to read menus and very detailed. I opted in for a special off menu item: Chicken Shawarma wrap with falafal and hummus inside and a side of tabbouleh. Everything was so delicious and extremely fresh! For desert I opted in for their highly raved about Baklava! Loved every bite of it! Can't wait to go back and try other menu items as well as their good looking smoothies.. Ive been to dt winter park dozens of times but always walked past this place. I came here for lunch with the fam. My mom ate here at her last visit and wanted to go again when she visited Orlando. I ordered the grilled chicken salad and the dip sampler. They were out of babaganoush unfortunately and they recommended subbing it for the chicken salad. He allowed me to sample it. I wasnt in the mood for anything with mayo so I replaced the order with hummus and pita. The food came out prompt and it was all super delicious, tasted fresh, hummus was flavorful and the pita was toasted perfect. The staff were super friendly and accommodating to my large family. If you're in Winter Park and need a place to grab a healthy lunch, Powerhouse is a great place to go. I really like their chicken salad (which I'm told is made with carrots and carrot juice in lieu of mayo), but go for the "delight" version which will add apples, sunflower seeds, and raisins. Their falafels are also pretty good and I always get the Mango Margo smoothie. My husband isn't as big of a fan as I am, but when I can convince him to go with me, he likes the chicken shwarma sandwich. I've gotten their soup before and wasn't a huge fan, and in fact, I can't even remember what kind of soup it was because it was a weird tomato based soup with some beans and potatoes. The service is kinda hit or miss for me. It's a family owned business and the whole family works there. They're usually pretty friendly and helpful, but beware that if you're a woman, one of the owners may try to set you up with one of the guys eating at the counter. This little cafe is just off of Park Avenue is the bustling Winter Park shopping district. They feature Smoothies, Pita Sandwiches and a few Middle Eastern delicacies, such as falafels, grape leaves and chicken shwarma sandwiches. Their smoothies are healthier than most places as they use real fruit and fruit juice instead of syrupy mixes. For lunch, I highly recommend their chicken salad in a pita with sprouts and tomato. Also, the falafels are very good, and not over cooked like most places. One of my favorite smoothies is the 'Cosmic Crunch' which is made with banana, strawberries, papaya juice granola, dates and honey. Prices are not too high considering the area. Staff is friendly and funny. George, who works the register is always hilarious. Everyone knows him by name because he's such a character. If you're in Winter Park you have GOTS TO GO TO Powerhouse. I love making my own smoothies in the morning, but if I don't have the time (and I'm of course, in Winter Park), I stop by Powerhouse vs. Smoothie King. Why? Because I can actually SEE that Powerhouse uses the real stuff .. and by "stuff" I mean fruit...not jammy, fructose ladened corn-syrupy fake fruit they put in Smoothie King smoothies. The color of the smoothies at Powerhouse are less than appealing, but that totally means that there are no added colors (psst..that's why Smoothie King's smoothies are so bright!). Definitely try a Celebration smoothie with a 1/2 Egg Salad Pita (a smoothie and a 1/2 sandwich is called a Mama's Special) for $7.50. My sister loves the Chicken Salad Pita because of the bits of carrots they put in the Chicken Salad. I am so full after a Mama's Special I usually have to do a few laps around the Avenue. You can choose outside or inside seating and if the owner finds you cool enough, he may take a picture of you to add to his ever growing collection of photos on the wall. My mom said that if I don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Because of that, I'll keep completely quiet as I type this: I pretty much hated this place. I can understand it's not for me--my best guess is that it was made for body-building Middle Eastern/Mediterranean ex-pats and/or the very health conscious green-washed Park Aver. If any of those descriptors applies to you, there's a good chance this will be your cup of tea, or more specifically, your styrofoam cup of $8.00 protean smoothie. I went here for lunch last weekend with my SO. I'm vegetarian, so I skipped out on the chicken-hummus shwarma, but she found it so bland she couldn't finish it--and we're cheap as hell so leaving even half of a wrap for the birds was blasphemy. I didn't have much more luck with the only vegetarian sandwich on this "healthy" menu--grilled cheese pita. I did at least finish mine though, but I'm not convinced the pita bread they used wasn't made entirely of clippings from the Rollins College school newspaper. I will say that the smoothy I got--a lemon/strawberry thing, but I think they forgot the lemon part--wasn't bad. I feel it should've been about half the price and a quarter as sweet, but other than that I can't complain. Ok, fine, I'll complain about one more thing--the parking was terrible. I don't frequent Park Ave much, and almost never on a weekend, but if you're new here, resign yourself to walking a few blocks and perhaps looking up obscure parking ticket laws on your phone so you can trick yourself into not worrying your car will be towed away while you eat. Of course, that's not the restaurant's fault at all, but come on, Winter Park, at least try to have one part of your city's name make sense. All that being said, I've certainly had worse. The service was pretty good. The windows allowed a nice view for people-watching. The menus were well-laminated. The chairs weren't comfortable, but they seemed sturdy and well-constructed. This was probably mostly a case of my own ignorance. I picked this place solely through Yelp--cross referencing cheapest with highest rating with closest distance from me. For anyone that follows in my footsteps, I would not call this place cheap and I obviously wouldn't give it 4.5 stars. If you are really into the low-carb and/or an athletic kind of diet (at least I think that's what they were going for, I did mention my ignorance, right?) then you might enjoy it here. The Power House is definitely not for me or my SO, but it looks like plenty of people like it--I just hope you'll have a better idea than I did of what you're getting into. read more

Came here once with a few friends of mine, and we all got different smoothies. We decided we'd try each other's, so we had a bit of our own and started passing around. They all tasted the same: like bananas. Just an overpowering taste of banana. I guess I should have expected this, as the first sight you see when you enter Power House is a table overflowing with bananas. I guess because it's the cheapest fruit, its the one they use the most. A few of the menu items feel overpriced but its understandable because of where this cafe is located. I also felt the quality could've been better. This is a very casual spot on park avenue and seems like it could use a remodel of the dining area. Although if you're going for takeout this isn't an issue. If I went back it would be because the customer service was so good, or I wanted a quick healthy bite in the area and didn't want to wait in a more upscale restaurant on park ave. I've only ever had one smoothie, and it wasn't bad either. Where these guys score their points, though, is in the selection of middle eastern cuisine that they offer. If you eat here, you've gotta try the middle eastern. Powerhouse makes some of the best falafel you'll every have. The hummus, tabouleh, and grape leaves are amazing too. These items are a little more expensive than their other menu items, but in my opinion, worth every penny. Don't get me wrong, the pita place a few blocks away isn't bad, but if you're in the mood for falafel and pita, why not get the real deal? But when I got inside there was a waitress and everything was very Mediterranean - not that that's bad, it was just unexpected. Literally just got back from a quick lunch at PHC (I'm giving it a nickname because I plan to come here a lot more often) and I'm already writing a review, it was that great. First things first, I just have to appreciate the ACTUALLY HEALTHY options this place has. I don't follow any diet regimen, but I am very conscious about what I eat and usually opt for low-carb, low-sugar options. Any time I have to resort to "fast" or quick-service food, my options are severely limited. Even so-called "healthy" places usually aren't as great for you as they advertise (looking at you, Panera.) SO, the fact that PowerHouse offers a big menu with a great variety and all of it really is healthy just makes my day. Not only is it healthy enough that I'm pretty sure my CrossFit coach would approve (I had to toss in the CrossFit part because if I don't mention it, my workout doesn't count), but it's super tasty. I normally hate tabouleh because it's often made with too much wheat and thus too dry. NOT THIS VERSION! It's basically all herbs, and it's so refreshing. I got the Powerhouse Salad with tuna and OMG the tuna. I should mention that I can't do boring tuna like those super-fit people do. You won't find me mixing up tuna + avocado in my spare time. I like the mayo-and-relish kind of tuna salad. That being said, their tuna is nothing like that and yet AMAZING. It was full of shredded carrots which added a light freshness to it and I'm pretty sure it didn't have any mayo. I also grabbed a Good Karma smoothie on my way out - mango, strawberries, and peanut butter. So tasty. Such a huge smoothie. The -1 star is because it's a little spendy and while the salad was a good size, I still felt I needed a little something extra (hence the smoothie) afterwards. The smoothies are BIG though, which also contributes to the -1 star... I wish they offered a smaller size. The staff seems like they're all family and were super friendly and accommodating, despite it being hectic in there. Which, around lunch time, it gets hectic.
