I mentioned a possible remedy being a couple of months at my former rate so I could decide what action to pursue as other members had been afforded. He said that he could not give me my membership for free. When I mentioned I was not given the common courtesy of notification and this remedy was not free he reiterated that the lawyers said..."..........." broken record response again. (The broken record response was a strategy taught and recommended during my Teacher Credentialing courses that I honestly believe is condescending even to students and refused to employ it, let alone would any one of my Business School Professors have ever encouraged its use by the Vice President of any business. I have been a member for over 30 years. I like this gym, especially the new remodels--they've really improved the space. Lately, I've noticed a young employee who works incredibly hard, constantly cleaning and vacuuming and always staying busy. Today, Dec 21, 2025 just informed by gym staff why as of the end of the year all insurance paid programs will no be accepted. The insurance companies pays per visit an average of $.77 instead of a set monthly rate. Obviously for a business this is untenable. Well I was a member here for 8 years and my membership renewal was due and they increased the prices a lot, give no consideration for how long or loyal I've have been, and are way over crowded anymore! After joining Planet Fitness today I realized how dirty and old this place really is!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have been a member since April of 2022 but will be canceling my membership this month.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My employer offers gym membership through a program called Fitness your way by tivity health. This weekend when I arrived at the gym Round 6:20 AM I was directed to a sign that was placed near the tablet I use to scan my membership. The tablet said Silver Sneakers members can only attend the gym from 7am to 9pm. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Silver sneakers is a Medicare program which is different than the program I am enrolled in but I was told it was all the same and those hours would apply to me as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sadly I am not retired and work for me starts at 7am. I am sure this is their attempt to get anyone that has a program through tivity to stop being a member.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It worked on me for several reasons. First, the location of the gym is isolated enough that there is little to no data available on your phone. Second, the gym is aware of this and promise WiFi but guess what? The WIFI is NEVER WORKING. You end up paying the same as other gyms with zero WiFi or phone data available. Finally, the machines are so clogged in the space they have that there are no clear walk thrus. I invite anyone to go in there on a weekday after work. You have no clear aisle walk thru as the machines and people clog the thin aisle. I have had multiple rude encounters with her but never said anything because I'm coming to the gym just to workout and mind my business. she was the only one in the front to check in while she was flirting talking to a guy while I was standing there needing assistance. I asked her if I can sit in the individual sauna for 5-10 minutes mind you this same girl has let me sit in the sauna before, it was 2 saunas available, she told me since I don't have the $49.95 membership I can't use it. Powerhouse Gym in San Jacinto seems to be hard up for gym membership. Today (6/26/25) my 15 year old requested for a tour. He spoke with a young lady by the name of Ashley. Ashley entered my son into a binding agreement without parental consent. Immediately I phoned the gym. Hello, Happy New Year! I am still coming to this gym even though I always threaten to cancel because I haven't been motivated to come. I recently met a friend that I inspired to start coming with me. Many things have changed since my last review. They moved many of the "older" weight sets outside so you can work out in Fresh air. It still has basketball but only on the far end. The dark room, as it's called, has the treadmills, elliptical, stairs, bikes, and the row machine where there are a bunch of TVs to pay attention to while the big one shows a movie. I love this room. My newly discovered room is all the way in the back where the power lifters are. I can't Not do what they do.... but I am tired of feeling feeble. I am starting off with 5 and 10's. I have to be careful because of back surgeries and a car accident injury. One thing that I noticed recently that may have always been there are Q codes on the machines. I usually look at the pictures and then wait to watch someone else do it or ask for help from a gym member. I do not bother the employees, and I am not hiring a private trainer. So, the friend I made has a 3 year old boy that we checked into childcare area today. I am not quite sure how I feel about them. After being there for approx 30 minutes, one of them came looking for her because her son wasn't listening. He was running around, and apparently, that is not allowed. No running? For a 3 year old? He was also sitting at the bottom of the slide blocking other kids from sliding. Instead of telling him to stop and move, they came to get her. Needless to say, she was a bit frustrated.. when did we get to the point that a child care person is afraid of verbally reprimanding a child for not following rules. There is also a rule paper that is longer than the gym contact. The upside is that it's only an extra $10.00 a month from what I heard. Either way, Chris still rocks! I've been a member of Powerhouse Gym at the San Jacinto location for about two years now, so I figured it's time for an updated review. Staff: First, a big shoutout to Chris, Reese, Grace, Cindy, and the others! They are phenomenal--always friendly, helpful, approachable, and radiating positive vibes. However, I have some concerns about the daycare staff, particularly Kathy. While I understand she may be the manager, her strictness and reactions to certain situations seem exaggerated. Last year, when my 1-yr old son was teething and bit another child, Kathy immediately restricted him and added a note to his record. This response seemed extreme for a 1-year-old, leading us to cancel childcare services and my husband's membership. We were told we could only come for 30 mins for a 5 day period. I believe Kathy needs to be more understanding of toddlers aged 1-3 years and perhaps reassess how she handles such scenarios. If a 1-year-old is seen as a threat or danger, then, perhaps, a better-trained daycare staff with patience and appropriate skills might be necessary. I believe they need to re-asses these restriction policies based off of the age brackets. Children ages 1-3 are still on developmental stage and it's very unfair and unrealistic for your staff to expect them to behave and adhere to strict behavioral expectations. Perhaps if your staff actually interacts and plays with these kids, then these type of scenarios may be prevented. We've never once had issues with LA Fitness daycare. It is for this reason that I removed a star on this review. Facilities and Equipment: The gym itself offers great equipment, including some nice glute bridge machines. The outdoor workout area is fantastic, with a sled for outdoor cardio that I really enjoy. The infrared saunas are outstanding and available by appointment, which I use every time I visit. However, the dry sauna often either doesn't work or doesn't get hot enough, which is disappointing when the infrared sauna is unavailable. Overall: I highly recommend this gym if you're single or don't need to use the daycare services. The facilities are excellent, and the staff, apart from the daycare issues, are wonderful. I do hope they consider adding sun shades to the outdoor workout area. read more

I'm adding a review of this gym even though I been with them for many years. Today I was ready to be in the women's sauna which MIND YOU HAS BEEN BROKEN FOR MONTHS, MAYBE 6. I had spoken to Chris, super great and super cool, with any questions or concerns you have. Today I had to deal with Reese and some young lady upfront. I asked from her to have someone check the sauna in the women's locker area. Another female employee was called to reset the sauna. WELLL that worked for 15 minutes, I had my timer on, and shut off. I went to the front to ask if I could you the individual sauna in the front, NO ONE WAS USING THEM, and I was told they are for VIP members. I explained I wouldn't ask if the women's locker sauna was fixed. It has been broken for maybe going on 6 months. And its frustrating. Then Reese, daytime manager, I asked him and he said maintenance would look at. I told him I already waited 15 minutes and I really didn't feel like hanging around for them to fix a problem that has not been fixed for 6 months or more. When I told Reese I would speak with Chris he gave me a snide smile and that made me dislike him even more!! Hence the review on you Reese.. I know when anytime I speak with Chris he never ever gives attitude nor snide facial expressions. He is very professional and has great chemistry with the members. Before even walking in, it couldn't be helped but see the hundreds of old gum pieces stuck to the ground and the gum situation gets worse closer to the door. The disgust actually starts at the parking lot. That was my first impression.... But, I wanted a loser look; the pools are green (I speak no more). The pool was going to sell me. And they let kids in on the weekend !!!! It was a "NO" for me at after this finding. Plus, the MANY reviews are NOT stellar. I come from L.A. and the gym and standards are way higher (for the most part) and that's what I have become used to. I want to like my surroundings. Not, great for lap swimming cold but shivering cold. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After months of this I finally took my complaint to the manager. His attitude towards me was horrible. I just asked if they could raise the temperature a little. Other members feel the same as me. Long story short, he was extremely rude and unprofessional. Every time I asked a question, his answer was, " if you don't like it go somewhere else" Not once but 3 times.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I didn't realize if I had what I feel is a legitimate complaint, I would be met with hostility and rudeness!.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was pretty sure he was going to revoke my membership. Would never recommend. I was a loyal member of powerhouse for over 15 years. Ever since they promoted Olga to manager she has gone out of her way to be as rude as possible to customers. She definitely let the position go to her head and multiple members complain to upper management but nothing is done. Even other employees quit because of her attitude. Sadly it reached a boiling point when she took it upon herself to ask me to leave the club but LOCK my CHILD in the kids club and REFUSE ME ACCESS TO MY CHILD. Not only is this highly illegal but not a good idea either. A police report has been filed and I have a feeling they won't have a kids club much longer. Definitely would never recommend taking your kids here or doing business with them. ! read more

I paid for VIP specifically to use the infrared sauna. It's been two months and I've only been able to use it 2 times. The dry sauna in the women's restroom is broken. The infrared red sauna, they're both down...and when they are running it's always booked. I should have known better than to think I'd be able to use it all the time when there's only two. I wouldn't mind if the dry sauna worked and I periodically could use the infrared but literally I can't use either one of them. I joined the gym about a year ago so I could utilize the pool as it is low impact for my joints, I can't tell you how many times I have had to turn around and get back in my car and come back home due to filthy people. I've also noticed as time went on...that their were snitchers like to tell on other members. Snitchers need to mind their own business and stop snitching on other members. like that's open 24 hours and like the dark cardio room what would be better is have a variety on the movies same old repeats

This place continues to have rude front desk staff including Chris the manager 6 off my friends have canceled their membership here. The membership fees have gone up and no improvements have been made and is really any better than other gyms around. I don't plan on renewing next year. The manager is dismissive all he cares is to sign new contracts when he's not to busy to tend to members. read more

Needed a gym to workout at while in town. Thought this would be a hardcore gym. Only thing hardcore is the name and the stench of the entire place. Probably need a Hepatitis shot now.... read more

I've had powerhouse for quite a few years and the reason i never let go of this gym is because of the atmosphere and the 24 hour access. No matter what time i go the people are great, friendly and encouraging...i always feel comfortable and encouraged when i go there and never self concious. read more

These people are rip offs I cancel my membership after they've been taking money out of my account for 2 years during covid cancel it on June 16th and they're still charging me money saying I'm responsible for any payments after my cancellation looking inside the gym you have to call their company that they deal with and half of them don't speak English and give you the runaround about canceling. read more
