Have only been in Charlotte for about a year, but have absolutely loved Poza Salon during my time here. Cassi has cut my hair twice for some big chops and new styles I wanted to try and have absolutely loved it every time. I'm not one to typically know what to do with my hair so I just kinda tell her what I want it to function as (ie I need it to be long but need to get rid of volume/weight) and she just goes right to work! Someone else gave me a complimentary bang trim in between appointments and that was awesome too! A lil too self conscious to post photos of myself but absolutely loved all the reception I've received from Poza - they text me appt reminders as well as respond to texts when I have last minute questions about things. They also have a dedicated parking lot in the back which is very convenient considering it's closer to the city. (And complimentary drinks as needed which is always a plus). Online appt scheduling makes it easy as well to get things sorted without having to call over the phone. Their salon is clean, looks chic, the staff looks out for each other (helping each other clean up hair etc), the atmosphere is nice and I'm sad to leave it behind when I move cities in a month. The one star reviews that I've scrolled through don't make sense from my experiences - lots of people making drama unnecessarily. Give Poza a shot if you're looking for something new in the Queen City! If you have more textured hair, or are just lookin for a party of a time, I recommend Cassi! As she mentioned this did happen over a year ago and no apology was given instead the response was more of a "you are lying, you simply must imagined that bad experience". No wonder this place gets so many bad reviews. It seems from other negative reviews this salon does not know what ownership and accountability is. Every single one of the 1 star reviews the response is simply blaming the client. No apology simply blaming it back to the client. I would recommend avoiding this place at all cost. Spoke to the receptionist on the phone, asked questions on price and came in for a consult prior to my appointment. I believed I would be spending about $150-$180 on my cut and color. So, when the gal says "that will be $270" I just about fell over. Now If I had been in love with the style and color, it still would have been shock, just easier to bear. But frankly, I was not impressed. Apparently neither were any friends, family or co-workers as not ONE person had anything nice to say about the new color. The stylist offered to tint my brows while my color was processing. I said "sure, that would be great". But she spackled it all over my eyelids and WAY above the brow like a kindergartener who does not know how to color in the lines. After she unsuccessfully tried to remove the errant dye from my skin, I had to go meet with clients. I looked ridiculous walking out of there and it took 2 days to scrub off the extra dye on my face. When I arrived home, my daughter said "you didn't go see clients looking like that did you?" Sad, Just sad. Now just for the record, I have had a couple of very talented perfectionists cut and/or color my hair while living in Toronto. So I know what can be done and at what price. read more

Very impressed with the COVID protocol followed when I got a hair cut today. Temperature was taken as I came in and I was asked to use sanitizer. Everyone in the salon was wearing a mask. After I had my hair washed, that station was sanitized. I was happy with my hair cut and will return in the future. read more

Best Salon ever! I came in to town for a formal wedding and realized that I didn't have a good plan for how my hair and makeup should be done. I called Poza's a couple days before the wedding and spoke to Courtney explaining my dilemma. She spoke to the owner and with the additional luck of a cancellation, they were able to accommodate me in the exact time spot I needed. When I got to the salon, Courtney instantaneously recognized me and gave me the VIP treatment, offering tea or wine and a welcoming tour. This was my first time at Poza, it was recommended by a friend of my mother. And I am so happy I took her advice to come here. I finally found my new salon and new stylist. Katrice was so amazing, she took the time to really understand my hair type and how she could make my desired haircut work with my hair. I'm so in love, not only did she cut me a beautiful pixie but she cut one that corrected the horrible bangs that were cut on me from my previous haircut. She was very thorough and honest about what she thought would be best for me. She's also very sweet and has one of those contagious laughs! On top of an amazing stylist, the rest of the staff was warm and welcoming. All smiles and I loved that! The salon is also very cute and well kept. Hair is so much more than just a look: It can be a reflection and reinforcement of who you are. I entered Poza salon on Wednesday 01/10/18 for a consultation which seemed reassuring but I found it to be a little odd that I was told that the results of my hair will be told to me at a later time over the phone. Jessi had mentioned to me not to worry that she cut a piece of my hair and will take care of it at a later time when free. I received a call later on that day claiming that my hair took it very well and not knowing any better I set an appointment for Saturday for 2:00 pm with Jessi. On Saturday 01/13/18 I came in to Poza Salon with ideas of change. I wanted a haircut along with a dye. My ideas came from the internet and I had many pictures to show for examples. I accepted the fact that in order for the change that I wanted, they would have to bleach my beautiful natural hair to get what I want. My hair is a dark brown almost black. My hair was bleached and once it was colored with the pigment. It was a disaster. Jessi apologized and she said she's was not sure what happened. Jessi had mentioned that it was really bad and the only way to fix it was to go dark again. I spent over 5hrs in Poza salon for such a disappointment. I was so furious, that I expressed how I felt for a quick moment but then I couldn't speak any longer do to myself trying to compose all my anger inside of me. It was after closing time and I was told I couldn't leave with my hair looking like that, that it would have to be changed back to a darker color. When asked what color, I didn't have words, I told Jessi that this was not what I wanted. She apologized and choose a color for me, claiming that I would look nice with that color. I left Poza salon with a shower cap on and hair dye still on my head. Once I went home an hour later I removed the hair dye from my hair to see that I still had spots of grey, gold, yellow, white and brown, it was disgusting. Jessi had mentioned that she was sorry and should make everything better but honestly I took my phone and took a picture of the back of my head where I had asked for a certain design and it was not what I asked for , she shaved way to high towards the top of my head. How upsetting, I honestly cried. Jessi was very apologetic, I do appreciate that she acknowledged her mistake. But this is the worst experience I have ever had in my life. To top it off there is now large amounts of strands of hair falling out from my head when I brush my hair. This salon is highly sought after so I decided to come and take it for a whirl. I'm so happy that I did. Sara did an amazing job on my hair. It never felt softer, thinner, and more beautiful. Which made me feel great. Pooran threaded my eyebrows. Now this was something that I had never done before so I was a little skeptical. I'm normally a tweezer ;) but I was very pleased with the results. Over the years tweezing has caused my eyebrows to thin in some spots and she said it might take a few times before we can get them perfect. I went in and saw madi, she always has colorful fun hair, She turned my black hair to blonde which is not an easy task. I was also nervous about cutting inches off of my hair so we did and she did an amazing job! I have been getting my hair highlighted bleached and colored for almost 2 decades and I have never encountered such rudeness especially from a salon owner than I did at Poza!! I've been getting my hair done there for almost a year and a half I'm always a platinum blonde the last time I got it done the girl didn't have time to dry it. I had got my roots done At another salon so I was just getting a toner to take out some gold. Toners cost no more than $30. When I went to pay Jessie the receptionist charge me $100 when I ask her about it she was extremely rude I was in a hurry so I paid and left. To my dismay when I got home and finally got my hair dried it was a ugly brown color. When I walked into the salon that day I had blonde hair when I walked out my hair was dripping wet and brown. I basically paid them $100 to wreck my hair. When I went back to see if they could fix it, they had no times available that would fit my hectic schedule. They said the only thing they would have time to do is wash my hair and try and STRIP the brown out of my hair!!!They also refused to give me my money back and they said that they could wash my hair and try to strip out the rancid brown color and when I ask if I was going to get a refund they denied me. So I said I'm paying you to strip my hair which causes damage to it I walked out and I will never return. Please beware the owner was excessively rude even when she was tending to another client she was rude to me in front of her other client. WORST experience ever read more

I wanted to love this place so bad. I usually go to Planet21 salon, and love it, but a friend from work mentioned I should try Poza Salon once to see what I thought. I will never be back and I will never recommend this place to anyone. I was getting my hair colored and cut and I wanted the color to be brunette with lighter and caramel balayage lightly around my head and fuller around my face. Somehow at the end of 4 hours, I ended up with completely blonde (brassy) hair. I was charged $245 (I did have OlaPlex put in). I went back the next day to have it fixed back to brunette with toner and within 2.5 weeks, the toner faded and I am back blonde again. I called the salon yesterday to let them know that I did not feel comfortable having paid $245 for hair that I did not ask for and did not like and the manager's response was the following: "Your reimbursement was when you came back in and got the temporary toner; if you would like to come back in and have it darkened again, you are welcome but you will have to pay for the services". I am blown away. I have never spent that much money on my hair, especially hair I didn't order or like. I believed that the reimbursement (even partial) would have been fair considering a) I did not receive what I asked for, b) I did not like it, c) the "fix" was a temporary toner that would fade, and d) I now have to go back to my salon to have them fix it and pay for my hair to be colored. I highly recommend Planet21 Salon. They have excellent customer service, they do a great job, and while expensive, their prices aren't quite as high. In response to the below comment: I understand that what I portrayed to the stylist seemed inconsistent because there were two different pictures shown and they were not the same. However, neither picture was hair that was blonde and the hair that I got was not even a variation or combination of the pictures. The pictures both showed brunette hair. I was notified to use color safe shampoo (which I have used every day since) and have kept my hair out of the sun for the most part; however, it is not ideal to pay $245 for a hair (color) that I did not like or want, just to be temporarily fixed and then be restricted to go in the sun in the summertime in order to keep it from being blonde. read more

I went here on a referral from a lady I ran into who had a clean layered haircut. I am picky although I don't think the stylist could tell because i'm not a real biddy about it. I usually just won't go back. BUT... My stylist was Lauren and she was wonderful. She was professional and took good note to my goals with my hair. I am trying to grow it out but anyone who has grown out layers knows it's a pain so I went in prepared to cut a lot of the length off to even out my hair and have an actual style when I left. Lauren listened to what I had to say and made recommendations. She still left the decision to me but explained everything in detail. She also told me what she was doing as she did it and explained how to style it. I am so happy I did not just walk in and have someone just give me what I wanted without giving me other options. My hair looks great! You barely can tell the length was cut off and my layers are cleaned up and it is back to a style. I moved here from NYC and was living in London before that so I am used to excellent stylists who know what they are doing. Everyone at Poza is great! They really take the time to listen to what you want but aren't afraid to give their opinions. And every time I have tried a cut or color they suggested, I have been more than thrilled. I have been seeing Lauren recently and she is awesome!! I have been struggling to get my hair the perfect shade of light brown (the last salon in Charlotte I tried colored my hair jet black) and Lauren was able to get it just right!
