Great experience for our anniversary dinner in Santa Fe. There are a lot of restaurants in downtown, but it's so crowded. Thanks for the Yelp reviews that pointed us to Midtown Bistro. Phillipe took great care of us. My wife enjoyed the arugula salad with prosciutto wrapped apples and I enjoyed the avocado Caesar salad with the chimayo Caesar dressing. Tasty but not too spicy. My wife had the crab cakes that had a very light breading. I wasn't that hunger and really liked the tuna tartare. Very light and flavorful. read more

Great food! We stopped to get dinner prior to a show, and this was a perfect spot for that. Friday night at 5:00 pm, there were plenty of seats both inside and out that were vacant. But it did fill up as the evening progressed. We sat outside where there was a nice breeze, then it stopped, and back again. Gnats and a pesky fly was shoo'd away, otherwise, outside was just fine. Calamari was cooked with the tender texture and light batter outside. Thankfully the dish was not overcooked. The two sauces accompanied. Both had spice but not overpowering. My bistro steak was cooked and sliced to the perfect temp I asked for. Asparagus was plentiful as were the mashed potatoes. The asparagus was cooked perfectly, and the mash potatoes with green chili were wonderful and plentiful. I had to take half of the serving home in a box. The key lime pie was shared, on the smaller side, but did it pack a punch of that tart lime flavor. Delicious! Great place to stop off on the way. Nice staff and clean store! I was hear around the holidays and am just very late writing my review. The holiday decorations were lovely and this is a very nice location. I wasn't expecting a higher end restaurant with the name 'bistro' but it did seem to be. I had the pacific crabcakes and they weren't filled with too much breading and had a good amount of crab. I've spent time around Maryland and had crabcakes there so am pretty picky about my crab cakes and these measured up. Personally I didn't feel like the meal was overpriced, so perhaps it depends on what you order off the menu. I'd be back to try more things, the service was amazing and our server was very friendly. I really can't complain aside from having not quite the right expectations based on the name when I walked in the door. But the decor and set up really told me all I needed to know on that front! read more

My wife and I loved everything about Midtown Bistro. This was our first time there, and we went with a group of nine (Santa Fe Foodies). The food and service were first-rate. The Calamari is very nice, and two great sauces accompany this lovely appetizer: chipotle aioli and habanero pineapple sauces. I had the delicious crab cakes, and my wife had the Salad Nicoise, which had superb rare Ahi Tuna. Both dishes came with fresh and lovely greens. Excellent! Our service was top-notch (thank you, Eli). The restaurant has a lovely interior. I would love to come back and dine on the patio, which wasn't opened today. We will certainly return and highly recommend Midtown Bistro. read more

We had dinner with nine other people andon our recommendation. Three of us were served wine by the glass that was passed its time and we had to send it back and to their credit was replaced with wine from fresh bottles. We were disappointed in the food as my partners' fish was dry and overcooked. My Rice was inedible as it was undercooked. One of our group said she could only eat a tiny bit of salmon which was tough and tasteless. She said her vegetables were not fresh and she should have sent it back but she did not want to be one of "those" people. We did not want to spoil it for everyone else in the group as we were there for a celebration. We can only hope that the others were satisfied with their food. We did not mind the high prices as we understood the necessity, however when one pays the high prices, we expect the food to be high quality. The ambiance and service excellent. Never made a negative review for any restaurant but this ribeye was the absolute worst in 40 years of enjoying ribeyes. Food just ok. Ask for dressing on the side otherwise it's drenched & soggy. The French fries that came with my cod & Soggy salad were heaped on top and grease drained onto my inedible salad. Other people's meals looked ok but I was disappointed. They forgot to bring us water several times too and we had to keep asking. It was a weekday lunch and not crowded. We had a great meal at Midtown Bistro this past Friday. Our second visit but this time we sat outside. What a nice, pleasant setting! Our server, Carmalee was exceptional! Knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. We had an Ahi starter, Barramundi and Rack of Lamb, Cocktails and of course a couple of glasses of wine with dinner. Midtown Bistro is kind of hidden from the street, but it's located right next to Santa Fe Stone so you'll be able to see stone pieces in their patio which are so beautiful. We dined on the patio and the ambiance was absolutely lovely. You could hear the water trickling from the stone fountains and all the pretty flowers. It was a great spot for a date night and I can't wait to return. The food was fantastic and one of the most memorable meals I've had in a while because everything was a flavor explosion, but not overly done. We started with the calamari and it was some of the best I've had. The sauces were tasty but what I loved most was how crisp the squid were without being greasy at all. The half rack of lamb was a perfect amount for me and served with the tastiest truffle potatoes that were like whipped cream in consistency. The Swiss chard was also cooked nicely and paired so well with the dish. My boyfriend had the filet mignon that was to die for with a compound butter on top and paired with a delicious gruyere potato gratin. We opted for a dessert to go and the carrot cake was the perfect ending to our night. I can't wait to go back here! read more

This was my first time here and highly recommended by a group of friends. I agree it was quite the experience and very delicious! The owner was welcoming and friendly and our server Claudio was top notch! Try the amazing and fresh carrot cake! Make sure and order the calamari, it comes with two dipping sauces one of which is a pineapple sauce and is so tasty! It is such an over rated place ever. Tourists, be aware. So expensive and we wouldn't mind it so much if food were good. I had organic quinoa with black bean pilaf. It came in soupy sauce that I had to eat with spoon. The visual presentation was good but it tasted like I was chewing on a cardboard. Oh the bread and the tiny butter it came with. Those few pieces of cut up bread were cold and had no taste. We hiked all day. So my husband and I just ate. The bill came over $100 and that was a waste. Wait staff was good. really weird experience. we had reservations at 7, they sat people with 7:15 reservations before us. guy apologized, gave us free calamari. then we waited over an hour for our food. barely saw our waiter. was not asked if we wanted a second drink after our first was taken away. bread was untoasted and cold right out of the bag with cold butter. boyfriends steak was severely undercooked and he said it was not worth the $90. it was also really loud. it was also clear that some of the old regulars got preferred service. it was busy sure but wow. they really put the MID in midtown. read more

Was our usual lunch restaurant until today, waiter could not understand to mix the cobb salad with its usual dressing and was brought to the table mixed in various ways twice without the dressing, I asked only for olive oil on side, no bacon, a few cubed small pieces of chicken, egg was not properly chopped and the cost was 21$ for honestly only spinach, my friends fish and chips the fries were burnt black, extremely disappointing and a rip off, never again will we be back read more

The servers were extremely nice and helpful, but the service there is very slow. Allot yourself time. Even by Santa Fe standards, it's slow. Parking can be difficult too. Now to the food; which is why we go to restaurants. I'll I can speak to is the stuff our party of five ordered for lunch. The soup of the day: four onion, was too sweet. The crab cakes where tasteless and heavy on the mayo. The Salad Niciose was good, but a little lite on flavor in the dressing. The cheeseburger was outstanding. The Grilled Chicken Sandwich was very good. My wife didn't care for the carrot cake or the key lime pie, but the chocolate cake was good. So, overall, if they have what you like, it's good. Otherwise, not so much. Sort of hit or miss. Oh, the diet coke was terrible. They even tried from a different machine, and still horrible. One was flat, and one just tasted off. They need some help from the distributers to tune their machines. Would we go again? Possibly for dishes we know we like there, but only for lunch. OMG! I had dinner at Midtowm Bistro last night! I had not been there and was pleastantly surprised! A beautiful white tablecoth rrstsurant. The outdoor space my friend and I ate in was beautiful!!! The lights and water features made it so pretty and soothing. The food was very good and the staff was attemtive. Claudio, our waiter, was very helpful and answered questions with ease. We were seated at 6:15 on Saturday. Our drink and dinner orders were taken within 10 minutes, and drinks arrived quickly. We then waited for an hour and 15 minutes, with no attention from our waitperson. We were hungry and wanted to go elsewhere at that point, and asked for our check to pay for our drinks. Before we could pay, our dinners arrived. 3 entrees (ribeye) were undercooked and mediocre, while 4th (rack of lamb) was extremely overcooked. No apology from the waiter or manager. On my second visit and my partner's first, we were extremely pleased with our brunch experience. The service was flawless, the menu varied and quite reasonably priced. The Nicoise Salad had a just-right dressing and the Eggs Benedict a la crab cakes was scrumptious. Very nice wine choices by the glass rounded out our dining experience, making the drive from Albuquerque worth the trip. Like so many Santa Fe destinations, finding the Bistro can be somewhat challenging. I would describe it as a zen/Stonehenge-looking property in a light industrial neighborhood. read more

Probably the worst experience I've had in fine dining in Santa Fe. We had a reservation at 6:30. It was really clear they were understaffed, and we didn't see our server till 6:50.. understandable. He let us know it was going to be "at least 20 min because we have a party of over 20 people". We let him know we knew what we wanted and ordered immediately, and it would be no problem. We didn't get our food till 8:15, so of course during that time, we ordered drinks and bread to fill a void lol. We didn't end up getting closed out till 9:10. Upon having some issues with this, we were told "well our grill is like the size of the table, and I told you you were all going to have to wait". No comp, no validation, just the same $339 tab, and my in laws still tipped because they're good people. This place is FANTASTIC! Why it's only rated 4 stars on yelp is beyond me. I'm very picky and there was not one thing I ate that I wouldn't devour again. They open for lunch, close then open again for dinner. It was so yummy and not ridiculously priced; add $4/person you what you'd order at chili's/ihop. The food looks simple but it's NOT. The service was that of a high end place and the atmosphere is awesome. A neighbouring business is a rock landscaping business and it is like art. The bistro had several rock fountains that made eating on the patio very pleasant. The panoramic photo is the front of the business center but excuse the machinery, the new owners for the landscaping business are fixing up the place. I had the corn & potato bisque, the omelette and the tres leches cake. Coming from a person who has family in Mexico, this is the best tres leches I've ever had in the US. read more
