Tonight I have to tell you I went to pick up dry cleaning left 2 months ago (work is very casual dress) and I couldn't find my slip - the wife not only knew exactly where my shirts were, but before even looking --- from MEMORY --- she said "Yes, you have 9 shirts to pick up." Which I did. I'm still marveling. I jokingly asked her to recite the colors of the shirts....and had she been able to do it....well, THEN I don't know what. Anyhow, I 100% recommend them.. I feel bad saying this, but this place is a big nope. I gave them two shots, once for alterations…read moreand once for dry cleaning and both times the results failed. I needed a few items altered and did not need them for any specific date. I brought them in and tried everything on that I needed altered, including jeans that needed to be hemmed and a summer sleeveless dress. When the seamstress asked when I needed them back, I told her she could pick the date because there was no rush. She gave me the date to return for my items. Cool. When I returned on the date to pick up my clothes, they were not ready. Not cool. She picked the date, so I am not sure why they weren't ready. She tells me to come back the next day. Kind of a pain to make another trip, but fine. So, I pick up my clothes. Some things were altered fine. However, she took up the hem on my jeans and did not use the original hem, so it basically looks like my mom hemmed my pants. The summer dress was too large on the sides and needed to be taken in. She took it in, but then failed to leave the arm hole big enough for me to actually be able to move my arm, so the dress just cuts into my arm pits. Tailoring fail. I thought we could still use this place for dry cleaning. My husband and I dropped off a huge amount of his dress shirts to be cleaned and pressed all at once while he was on vacation. When we dropped them off, the woman behind the counter told us they would be ready nine days later. Nine days was yesterday. Thinking back on my experience picking up my alterations, I called yesterday morning to make sure his clothes were ready. She tells me to come by after 2:00. Cool, so now I can rearrange my day off based on needing to pick up his dry cleaning in the middle of the day. I show up to pick up his clothes and present the ticket and the woman behind the counter just starts wandering all over looking for the clothes. She is looking at a rack with winter coats on it. I can see a rack with some of his shirts on it, so I tell her those are his shirts, but she doesn't go to them. Nothing has tags on it, all the shirts are just in bags on racks all together. Then the woman we first dealt with emerges and locates his clothes. There's this kind of weird vibe. I just need to go. When I get home and get everything in and put away, I see that his shirts do not look laundered and fully pressed. Several of them still have creases in them on the back from when he wore them and had them tucked into his pants. Maybe they did a terrible job cleaning and pressing them or they did not clean them, left them sitting until I called yesterday morning, then knew I was coming and then did a half-assed job ironing them? I really don't know. They threw them on hangars and did not even both to button them all up. It is hard to photograph wrinkles on prints with my crappy old phone, but I tried to capture some of what they looked like. I could have taken pictures of all of them, but this is how we got every shirt back. I could have done a better job ironing. We wanted his shirts to look professional. They look anything but. I threw one of my shirts in with my husband's to be cleaned. It never occurred to me to check it immediately. I I just looked at it and I now figured out why there was a weird vibe when I walked in the shop. They ruined my shirt. There is some weird blue stuff all over it. How unprofessional are you that you ruin a customer's shirt, DO NOT SAY ANYTHING TO THEM, AND LET THE PAY FOR CLEANING AND PRESSING IT. These people are the worst. Do not go here. EDIT: I took my shirt back in and figured out what happened. I asked her what was on my shirt, if it was dye or some sort of dry cleaning liquid. She said that she always washed shirts like mine with darks so it was not dry cleaning liquid. My shirt was supposed to be dry cleaned. So, she washed it with other people's clothes and apparently with someone's dark, new item that bled onto my shirt and ruined it. Isn't this why to take clothes in to be cleaned? To avoid this from happening? When I told her my shirt was supposed to be dry cleaned, she then said she meant it was dry cleaned. There is nothing worse than when a business is dishonest. I do not believe they dry cleaned any of the clothes I brought in because the labels say they can be washed. We dry clean them to try to make them last longer. I guess they are trying to save time and money by washing everyone's clothes together. Unreal. Save your clothes, people. Don't go here. Yikes. Expensive lesson learned.

As of the writing of this review, I'm new to the neighborhood of Lincoln Square, and in need of…read moreregular dry cleaners. I used Yelp and some other apps to search for a dry cleaners, but was disappointed to find that there just aren't a lot in the area if Lincoln Square where I live. Connie's Cleaners is ones that popped up and I thought I'd give them a try. I gave them a few dress shirts to launder to try them out. They did a good job with the actual cleaning of my shirts. I have no complaints there. There prices weren't the least expensive, but not crazy. However, there are just some things that makes this place inconvenient for me to use. First, they only take cash. I typically don't carry cash and use my credit cards for nearly every purchase. That wouldn't have been such big an issue, but they don't have signage that indicates they are cash only. In this day and age, where the use of credit or debit cards is newly ubiquitous, stores that are cash only have obvious signage altering customers of that policy. I ended up writing a check to pay for shirts. Second, their hours aren't great. At time of writing this review, their hours are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday though Saturday. Working in the Loop and commuting home to Lincoln Square makes it impossible to pick up and drop off clothing to be dry cleaned during the week. What's worse is that their closing times are listed here and everywhere else I checked as 6:30 pm. I even called and I think the person working their also told me they close 6:30 pm. Initially when I attended to pick up my shirts, I arrived at 6:15 pm only to find a had written sign stating their hours are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. I do not want to say that this a bad dry cleaners or discourage anyone from using Connie's Cleaners. They seem like they do good work and have been around for a long time. It's the kind of small neighborhood business I'd like to patronize. If cash only is not issue and their hours work for you, there is no reason not to go here. However, for me, the inconveniences described above make it impractical to use them.
