My mom called the week before to make a reservation for our dog at 9:30. I arrived early but they said they didn't have us written down. I asked if they do confirmations at all, either calling the day before or giving a number or something after the spot is made since I also had nothing to show. And they said no. So seems like they just write it down and that's it but there's no proof of appts so that made it kinda stressful. They did take our dog in but you can tell they were already making it negative before even taking him back there. Nitro is a 4yr golden retriever, very loving and not aggressive. They told us that if he tries to bite them they'll stop and we'll be charged the full amount. It was weird why they would make that comment seeing as how my dog was only excited to be there and happy seeing other dogs. Nitro didn't do anything for them to make that comment. So clearly these previous reviews have a point, this dog grooming place favors small dogs. I replied to the girl telling her she wouldn't have any problems and I expect the full service for nitro. And they probably should judge dogs based off their size. Over all he smelled good when we brought him home, and he looked good but my mom did make the comment that he didn't look as happy as he normally does. Which makes me worry about his treatment here. I don't want to over think but the vibes here were not good. And I hope my dog wasn't mistreated just because staff has big dog fear. read more

There was a sign outside the door that said "one person inside at a time" in which I was waiting outside for my turn. Two ladies walked in and they came way after me. When it was my turn to go in (the two ladies were inside with their FOUR dogs) the lady said "one person at a time" and I said "yes I saw the sign but I had been waiting outside when they (the two ladies bumrushed inside) and the lady said "oh they're just going to get their nailed clipped it's fine I'll see you after" to which I said "no, I was here first and my puppy needs the exact same thing so why should you see them before me?" She rolled her eyes and mumbled something under her breath. At that point I just decided to take my puppy somewhere else. The front lady was super rude and condescending. I was deciding whether or not it would be worth leaving a review but if it helps anyone stay away from this place I'll do my part. I called to make an appointment for my puppies to get groomed and the girl on the phone (very polite and kind) said she had an opening that very same day so I told her I would do that. She asked for how much my puppies weigh and I told her, she said estimate $30 for GROOMING, bath, nails, etc. I said okay and went to drop them off. The person who works in the front is very stand offish and straight up RUDE. She greeted me with "How can I help you?" I said I was dropping off dogs for their appointment at 3:30. She rolled her eyes and said "well it's 3:30 right now." Not sure what that meant... she asked if we had been there before I said yes and gave her my husband's number. She was saying there was no one under that name and seemed rather frustrated with me. She then went on to say that because my puppies were 5 months they couldn't groom them just give them a bath and do everything else. I wish this would've been communicated over the phone instead. I said fine how much will that cost... she said $30? She kept insisting they couldn't groom the dogs but was starting to get upset with me and her tone was nothing but rude the entire time. I wish I would've walked away then, however I felt pressured to leave my dogs. I left my 2 maltipoos, they took about 2 hours which was fine with me. They called me and made me pay before getting to see them. They brought out my maltipoo who's more on the curly side and I was so disappointed with the way they cut his hair. Even after I had told the girl not to trim anything on his face (length wise) just shaping. He was so scared and you could hear dogs crying and screaming in the background when I picked them up. His haircut was so ugly and dramatic that my other dog could not even recognize him. He seemed to be hiding once we got home. Needless to say a very terrible experience. And on top of that we paid the same price ($30) for a full grooming service they couldn't even receive. read more

TWICE they have hurt my dog with their Shaver . The person who grooms shaves and or cuts to close to the skin where I can see my dogs bare skin and the blood dots . The first time this happened I noticed they took a very long time to call me .. she was their practically the entire day and when I picked her up she had a bald spot on the lower part of her ear that looked like it had been bleeding . Please do not consider this establishment. They are dishonest! I called to schedule an appointment for my dog, Macho. I told them he was up to date on his shots and was a 60-pound Pitbull. The girl placed me on hold and then came back on the line to say, "unfortunately, we do not have a washer for that size dog." I hung up, feeling as if she had lied to me. My husband called back and asked to schedule an appointment for a 70-pound Golden Retriever. The girl was happy to schedule an appointment. SHAMEFUL! My husband, in return, told the girl that he did not have a dog, but his wife had just called and was told they did not have a washer for that size dog. She then stated that Pitbulls are larger in size. Excuse me? What we just experienced was dog shaming! This is unprofessional, disrespectful, and unacceptable behavior. I am well aware that Pitbull dogs continue to be seen in a negative light due to horrible situations, but NOT ALL PITBULLS ARE VICIOUS! I would have preferred they go the direct route and say they do not accept Pitbulls for whatever reason than to be shamed. Honesty should not be such a difficult task. This is my favorite place to get my 2 furry children groomed! For the price and the service, it's as good as it gets. I have 2 dogs, a 4 year old Shih-Tzu/Maltese and a 7 month old Yorkie. I've been taking my oldest dog here as well as my grandmother's 2 dogs since they opened in 2011 and have always been satisfied with how they fit me into their busy schedule without an appointment, which is unlike any dog grooming service (PetSmart in particular). I never have any complaints about the quality of service they provide my animals since they always come out smelling good, looking good, and feeling so soft. The price is standard for what you get, $40 for your basic grooming package ($5 extra for difficult pets). They offer additional add-on services like flee baths and special accessories. Not to mention I love that they are located right in the heart of Downtown La Puente, which is so close to home! The store is decorated with paintings of dogs and cats, which I find cute, and they have a wide variety of pet clothes and accessories ranging from tea cup to large breed. They also sell dog food and other goods that you might find handy if you're on the go or in a time crunch. The staff is very friendly and they always remember their regulars. On busy days, they usually never turn away a service and will work past closing time to make sure you are taken care of, which to me is the icing on the cake. 5 stars to my favorite local business! read more

Picked up my small dog after grooming service on a Saturday, he was shaking and was hiding under the bed or in the closet for a week, he was not able to jump on a bed or sofa as he always did. Called the place the next day to see if they knew something had happened to my dog, the receptionist said, "no but if you see your dog is not feeling okay, take him to a Vet". I called the manager, she said she can't think of anything but will check the camera and call back in few minutes, she never did. Poor grooming service. My dog's nail was broken near his paw and I brought him here for a nail trim. This place is super affordable! The front desk girl was really nice and the people here are kind and honest. The service was really quick, it wasn't that busy during that time, and the trim only took around 5 min. I had called before and they let me come the same day about half an hour before they closed. Also, surprisingly they said my dog did very well, even though he usually doesn't let me trim his nails. (by the way, this is a long overdue review, i got his nail trimmed several months ago) I would definitely come back for my dog's nail trim next time! I brought both my dogs a Sheepadoodle and a standard poodle about a few months ago and they upsold me for poodle feet and also for my dog not obeying them while he had the cut. I told them not to cut my Sheepadoodle face her name is (Snoopy) just sanitary areas so I still payed for the cut and wash. My standard poodle (Royce) looked as if he didn't even get a cut. I picked them up and they looked almost the same I was more shocked of Royce haircut. Snoopy still had pepto bismol I gave her because her stomach was upset I gave her a little sip so she spilled on her coat. End of the day I ain't a veterinarian but the job they did. She still had pink on her coat. On the other hand Royce did not have the poodle cut I requested. He only had his feet done and his sanitary areas but his face and body was as if they never touched him. Waste of money don't come here. Now I bought all the groomer equipment I needed. I bought me a Wahl KM 10 clippers and the Wahl comb attachments on Amazon. I got me a grooming table also from Amazon, watch a few grooming videos and my dog Royce did great on his first haircut. I also got other stuff for ears and nail clippers. Don't waste your money coming here your better off learning to do it yourself. I got so many compliments doing so myself he looks so top notch. THEY SHAVED MY SHELTIE WITHOUT MY CONSENT!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE! I brought my Sheltie here for a wash and hair CUT. See the attached photo is what he looked like the morning of his appointment. He had a lot of hair and needed a lot of brushing to get the under coat out and cut out any clumps of hair. I understood he would need a lot of brushing, so I tipped 25%, as they asked me to pay BEFORE my dog came out. (That should have been a red flag to me, my mistake and forever noted.) The second attached photo is the photo I used for reference to show the manager what he normally looks like after going to the groomer. She asked me if it's a little shorter on the body but longer on the chest if that's okay. I said these exact words, "That's fine, but just don't shave him." And attached photo for the after....is what they did to him.... My Sheltie is 9 years old, and I've been taking him to get groomed for 9 years. I've had good and bad experiences, but never has something this catastrophic happen. For those that aren't familiar with this breed, their long, flowing hair is what gives them confidence and pride. Also, once their hair is shaved, it never grows back the same. This buzz cut has taken all of that away from him. How sad is that? This is the first time in my life that I've ever asked for a refund. We all have good and back service experiences, and all I asked for was a refund considering how badly they messed up and that I paid $75 for their act of laziness. According to manager, the owner needs to call me for a refund, however I am yet to get a call so it brings me to writing my first bad yelp review. Beware!! We have been taking our dogs here for about 4 years on and off but recently noticed the last two times both our dogs had multiple scratches on their belly with blood spots as well. We don't know if it's lack of attention from new groomers but it's evident they need more training or caring for pets.
