I brought my 95 Nissan Maxima with "Check Lights" ON and they didnt charged a dime for checking and identifying the issue in MAF Sensor. They told me that its going to be costly since they will be using OEM part, but suggested if I can work around by buying a local one on eBay.. I brought my Acura here for oil change and have them take a look at the brakes. The oil change costed around the same as the car dealership, but the brake work was significantly cheaper. I own an old car (160K miles) and sometimes different parts break down due to wear and tear. What can I say? This guys keep my car running like new. First time I came here since it was so close to my work. Since then I've changed jobs but haven changed the mechanic. The service is always fast and reliable. The prices are reasonable. Tom never behaves like some other "know it all mechanics" who look at us (laymen) as if we were less valuable than a timing belt with 100K miles on it. I went to Precise most recently to get spark plug change/tune up. Nhat worked on my car and he communicated clearly what was needed, did a great job on my car and was very pleasant to deal with. He also advised me against filling up too much tire pressure. I thought it was very remarkable of him to go to the trouble of checking and correcting tire pressure even when I had gone in for something totally unrelated. Also they didn't up sell anything, in fact they discouraged me from getting a few things I thought were needed. My car drives better after the spark plug replacement, less idling misfire and smoother pickup. I've been to Precise previously due to an overheating problem too. They pinpointed the cause correctly for me and fixed just that. Iam happy to have such competent and honest mechanics to go to. read more

I found Precise Auto Repair on yelp. They had very high ratings, but as we were new to the area and had no one to ask if they were legit we had to trust the reviewers of yelp. The good reviews were all correct! Tom and Viet were completely attentive to the care of our Mazda 3. We had several minor issues but we were concerned if we let them go unattended the issues would only get worse. They not only addressed each one, they communicated the choices for care before they did any work once they had gotten under the hood. I really appreciated this extra professionalism. We were so pleased that we later took our son's 2002 Toyota Tacoma truck to them to get it road trip ready as our son would be taking it to college. Again, just as before, Tom called to explain what they found, make recommendations which were not going to break the bank and get permission to move forward BEFORE doing further work. I just found me a mechanic that I'll be going to from now on! That is almost as good of a feeling as winning the lottery. My breaks needed some fixin'. After checking out a couple reviews for a shop that is easy to get to, I decided to go here. The place is a little hard to find but it's the building right next to the recycle place on Walsh. You'll have to drive into the drive way to find it. It's closer to the end of the complex. I went in, told them that my car is squeeching. They drove it around and told me what I needed and possibly needed. I left my car with them and they called me back within 30 min to tell me exactly what I needed and how much it'd cost. When they called they also told me couple other things were wrong and needed to be fixed. At first, a red flag came up but when they told me the price, I was like, oh yearn, of course... get it done. Their prices are very reasonable and they will tell you only things that are crucial for your safety. The car was done about an hour and half before the promised time. When I picked up the car, they were very nice and showed me all the parts that they replaced and the exact problem. Not that I know what I was looking at but at least they showed me the things they replaced and what they replaced them with. Unlike lawyers, honesty is a good thing when it comes to mechanics. read more

I've been coming here for over 2 years now since I moved to the bay area. When I first moved here and was by myself, my car needed a new engine and I didn't know who to trust but these guys had such a high yelp rating I gave it a go and was impressed by their trustworthiness, professionalism and prices. i have been to this place for two times. Tom and Viet are very nice and patient. Their service charge is also reasonable。 The most important impression i have is that they are very honest to customers. There was an issue with the left headlight of my BMW. Some parts need to be replaced. Tom checked the part price online and said it costs about $160 to fix it. i agreed with them without any doubt. At least it is much cheaper than fixing it in dealership. When I came to pick up my car after fix was done, they told me that when the part got delivered, the price has dropped to $67. i was very surprised. i was willing to pay the original price for the fix. Even the part price has dropped so much, i would not know if they did not tell me. They are just so honest to you. i strongly recommend this place to everyone! read more

A coworker turned me onto this place. Very competative hourly rate for labor, and very modest markup on parts. I like to work on my car, but lack the diagnostic sense that Tom et al have, so two times now, I've asked that they just tell me what's wrong so I can fix it myself. In one case I asked that they purchase the parts for me that they would from their distributor, just to make sure I get the correct (and good value) parts. I bought them, marked up of course, but this is a sign of their flexibility to help out all classes of car-owners. Not for a second did I get a vibe of "it's not worth our time to just order parts for you", which is why I always go there for heavy duty or sensitive work, as well as regular tune-ups when I'm pressed for time: to support their clear "customer first" philosophy. Also, the guys are pleasant and professional, not into pressure selling, or "your car is about to explode unless you let us do xyz" sort of selling. Great team. This is the best auto repair shop I have used. The owners (Viet and Tom) are very friendly and never overcharge. I recently needed some repairs on my car and they suggested to check with Honda dealership if it was covered in my warranty since my car was purchased less than 5 years ago. Saved me a lot of money!
