Dishonest business. I'd hear stories about shops that will lie to customers to upsell unnecessary repairs and thought those were exaggerated, sad to say that this shop is one of those. I went in for an oil change and to ask some questions about the routine maintenance. They were helpful at first but quickly changed the tone of the conversation into serious/urgent to flag "needed" repairs. First they told me that my front tires were balding and close to 1/32 tread, needing replacement almost immediately. I thought this was odd because I replaced those tires no more than a year ago. I don't drive aggressively and I've made sure my alignment was correct. I included photos of both the flagged tires to show they are nowhere close to 1/32. Then they told me that the rear shocks also needed to be replaced because one of them was leaking. I'm aware of what a leaking shock looks like, but I wanted to trust them. I confirmed with 3 other shops that they were fine and not leaking. Together these would have costed me over a thousand dollars in unnecessary repairs, leaving me extremely disappointed and frustrated with this shop. The oil change was fast/proper. I no longer trust this location anymore and think others should be aware of what they're doing read more

Even when their system was down - Israel went above and beyond to get a similar tire set from another location. Despite not having their computer system the shop continued to run and clients were able to receive their services. I did not rush to write this review because I wanted to confirm the mechanical issues that were not identified during my visit. I came in for engine noise and a developing steering problem, but the complimentary inspection with the suggested oil change did not address my concerns, and I eventually had to go to another mechanic. --- I brought my car to the Stevens Creek shop because the engine noise was noticeable during cold starts and the steering felt off. The employee suggested an oil change because it included a "complimentary inspection," so I agreed, expecting both issues to be checked. The report recommended a steering rod repair and wheel alignment, but never mentioned the engine noise. The alignment recommendation was surprising since I had purchased new tires from this same location only a few months earlier. When I called to ask about the noise, I was told the free inspection was limited to a visual check and did not include diagnosing active noises or moving parts -- something that was never explained beforehand. A suspension concern from a previous visit was also left out of the latest report. When I asked what was actually inspected and requested clarification on the recommendations, the employee did not provide a clear explanation. The conversation ended with the employee saying we would continue later and then hanging up on me. At pickup, no one mentioned the unresolved noise or the phone call. Furthermore, the follow-up customer survey referenced the Fremont location instead of the San Jose shop I visited. I thought I had found an honest and trustworthy shop, but this experience changed my opinion. Based on the service and communication I received, I cannot recommend this place to others. read more

Why there is no 0 star!!! I had a terrible experience with "Stress Free." Don't let the name fool you--it was pure stress. Looks like Gemini was fooled as well and recommend the shop to me. The Bait: My Tesla AC was out. They told me over the phone it likely just needed a $299 refrigerant recharge， not likely a compressor failure. The Scam Quote: After "inspection," they claimed my Control Arm was broken and quoted me $4,000+. I later went to Tesla Service, and the actual cost for the same repair was only $700. Contradictory Diagnosis: After charging me $299 for the recharge, the AC still didn't work. They then changed their story, claiming a "severe leak" and a bad compressor, quoting a $20,000 repair (20+ hours of labor!). They even claimed they'd seen "5-6 Teslas with this issue recently" to scare me, which is totally opposite to what they told from the phone. The Reality: I took it to Tesla. There was NO leak. The compressor was fine. Tesla simply performed a software reset and recharge. My total bill at Tesla for BOTH the AC and the Control Arm was only $2,300. No Accountability: When I asked for a refund for the useless $299 service, they said, "You asked for a recharge, we gave you one. It's not our fault we can't reset the software ." I didn't come for a recharge; I came for a REPAIR based on their recommendation. read more

I just spent $2K during my latest visit, but I feel confident that I'm getting excellent service at Stress-Free Auto Care. The service technicians measure everything with digital readers and take pictures to prove that my issues are legitimate. I hadn't been in for a visit for 14 months and they found (1) worn tires that hadn't been replaced in 5 years, (2) broken tire pressure sensors, and (3) high moisture in my brake line. We debated the merits of delaying service or addressing issues now, and I decided it would be more cost effective to address the issues now. I appreciated being involved in the decision making process and being able to ask questions to get more clarity. I've been a loyal customer for several years and I plan to return for many more years because the service is transparent, reliable, and friendly. read more

I reached out to several shops using Yelp, and they were quick to respond. The quoted price was reasonable and it was very easy to schedule an appointment for the next day. They were able to complete the requested tire rotation and inspection on time and for the price quoted. They found one important issue during inspection and several minor issues, all of which were clearly communicated via their text system with links to pictures and details. Although I have not gotten the additional work completed yet, the quote they gave me was reasonable. The shop is clean and has a nice waiting area and the staff were pleasant to work with. read more

My co worker actually came here a few weeks ago since she had a nail in her tire and said they had her in and out quickly! I came during lunch but someone was nice enough in the middle of my breakdown and looked at my car and had me all set up with options before waiting on a tech to return from lunch. Didnt have my tire in stock but was able to put on my spare. Great customer service!! Kept on checking on me while a tech returned. Offered multiple times snack and coffee and wifi. Reasonably price. I visited this place after getting a flat tire from a nail. I went ahead and made an appointment and they were able to fit me in for an appointment the next day, hence the 2 stars. I arrived early for my appointment, about 15 minutes early. I walked in and shared that I was here for my 8:30 appointment, I explained that my back right tire was flat due to a nail. The guy behind the counter just looked at me without saying anything for a minute, so I asked him if I can check in. His response was "maybe you can start with giving me your name next time." I responded that he could also just ask people their names when they come in to check-in for their appointment. I just felt that was quite rude. About 2 hours later, I received the update that my tire could not be fixed. I was told that by driving on the tire (air was put into it), it ruined the integrity of the tire and caused a heat ring. They shared information about tire options if I were interested in purchasing one. I asked them if they could put air in my tire so that I could take it elsewhere. I ended up taking it to Costco that same day and it was fixed with no problem. I will say, at least, that I am grateful that I was not charged anything. As an added note, cost was quoted to be $60 for tire repairs, other local places quoted $30. When I brought this up (before I was told it couldn't be repaired), the guy told me he could knock $10 and consider it an online booking. So, cost was also more than other places. read more

At the end of it, I wasn't relayed concisely the correct information I needed for my appointment. So I go into the shop to confirm payment to find out about some discrepancies. Israel was the service provider that helped me out and he was extremely welcoming and helped make the process as easy as possible. They did a thorough digital vehicle inspection and actually found some extra issues I wasn't aware of. Because of the additional work, it took a little longer than I originally thought it would, but I really appreciated their communication and attention to detail. WOW!! Finding this place was such a win. I'd been having some issues with my car (weak ignition, rough idle, etc.) and they were able to get me in the same day and texted a link to their inspection results only a couple hours later. They gave me 50% off the first hour for the diagnostic too which really meant a lot since I hadn't even asked about any specials yet. They determined my (very new) battery was the problem and recharged it for me, checked a couple times to make sure it was still running well, and sent me on my way with several options should it start having issues again. I appreciated that they were honest and mentioned a few things that they could do, but weren't entirely necessary, so that I could make an informed decision and gave me a timeline on when to complete some of the more urgent items. Then I remembered I bought my tires from SFAC because I was tired of Costco's long delays and their limited focus on tires. I brought my car in early morning and the puncture was taken care of within 2 hours, *and* I had a list of items that I will need to check out at my next service to keep my car running well. While I am not typically a big techy person, I did appreciate the board showing me the progress of my vehicle, the on-line scheduling and the extensive report with photos of my 2010 infiniti ex 35. I had just had tired rotated at costco and i quoted whether they needed to be changed out and was told "no." Stress free told me they needed to be changed due to uneven wear on the edge and showed me photos. They offered to price match. While I will purchase tires at Costco because they are closer to my home, I will return to Stress Free Auro because they are very comprehensive in their inspections. With an older car it is vital to keep ahead of issues. I appreciate their diligence and also their acceptance that I prefer to buy the tires at Costco as I always have - but use their services for everything else. read more

Before booking, I did my due diligence and spoke with two different employees who both quoted me a range of $470-$510 (pre-tax) for a battery replacement. Based on those confirmations, I booked the appointment. However, upon arrival, the price suddenly jumped to over $750. They claimed estimates are based on average costs, and additional programming was required on my vehicle--details that should have been mentioned during the two previous inquiries. This felt like a classic 'bait-and-switch' tactic designed to get customers through the door before inflating the price. I value transparency, and unfortunately, I did not find it here. Only after I kept asking about the codes did the staff even mention the ignition switch issue. 2. My frustration was never about demanding a free diagnostic. I made it very clear--politely--that the car is driven by my wife and this was a potentially catastrophic safety failure. It was not acceptable to just wait for the car to die on the freeway. 3. There was no mention in the follow-up call about any formal diagnostic option. If that had been offered clearly and professionally, I would have considered it. Claiming otherwise now is simply not accurate. 4. The staff's rude behavior has been reported by other customers. Another review by Holley L., dated the same week, describes very similar treatment. This is not just me. There is a pattern. 5. The person who became aggressive was Gene B. It is odd that the business reply here appears under the name and photo of a woman, Eunice S., who did not speak with me. Why is the owner hiding behind another name to post a response? 6. Gene B. did follow me outside in an intimidating way. Saying otherwise is not honest. My wife witnessed it and felt threatened. Her exact words were "They are lying--why would we ever deal with such low-lives again?" 7. For the record, there IS a recall on the ignition switch module. I am also following up directly with Stress Free Auto Care management, including Yinon Weiss, to get a proper response. Original Review Avoid this place if you have any serious issue with your car. We came in and explained clearly that our VW Jetta's head unit and instrument cluster were shutting off while driving. This is a critical electrical failure. They asked for $250 for diagnostics, which I declined because I planned to take it to a dealer. They then offered to do a battery, alternator test, and scan for $75, which I agreed to. After the scan, they told me they "couldn't find any active issue" and that they would only be able to diagnose it if the problem happened again. When I asked if I should go to the dealer, they insisted the dealer would tell me the same thing. I pressed them because this is a catastrophic safety problem. Only then did one of the staff mention that the scan showed an ignition switch "run position high voltage" fault code, which could explain exactly what I was experiencing. When I asked if they could replace the ignition switch module, they checked their system and said they couldn't order the part. I also asked them to replace the key fob battery, which they did for an additional $25. The worst part was the way I was treated when I questioned why they hadn't suggested replacing the ignition switch or guided me to the dealer earlier. The staff became extremely rude and aggressive. One employee actually rushed up to me in a threatening way. This is completely unacceptable behavior in any business. I then took the car to the dealer, and within minutes they confirmed there was an open recall on the ignition switch and agreed to fix it for free. If you have any critical or complex issue, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. In my experience, they did not show the analytical skills or professionalism needed to diagnose and guide customers on serious problems. read more

The few times I came back to rotate my tires has been effortlessly easy and smooth. Staff is always kind and super efficient. I did say the pricing was $60 before but I remember now that was because of a special pricing during the holidays back in 2023 lol don't expect $60 to be in today's age. They do offer life time rotations if you purchase tires from them tho, super convenient! Schedule online from their reminder to rotate, come into the day and wait or drop off the car, and within 1-2 hours it's done. One time I forgot to unlock my car and forgot to give them the key... they tried calling me but I was away from my phone, oops. They were nice about it and said to reschedule, which I did with them that day and that also went smoothly. Super kind and forgiving. However, the most recent one (like 4 months or so ago) the technician that rotated my tires didn't have the cover for the seats and having white seats... yah that was horrible :( took me a bit to remove the stain but I did eventually got it removed. It's okay tho as that was just a one time thing. The other times I rotated they had the seat protectors on. Oh swell. I may remind them next time just to make sure the seat protectors are on. Anyway kind, patient, and an acceptable team. Highly recommend coming here for your for sure "stress free" auto care! read more
