Kia did the diagnostic and found only 193g of Freon had been added. Tony's was very difficult to work with, and I also found they were persistent with having my review deleted from another major platform, when all I am doing is posting my honest experience with receipts/proof attached. Do not recommend this place at all.

Great service, fair prices…read more I called to see if they could fit me in same day and finish by 4pm for a road trip -- my hood was rusted shut, preventing me from replacing my headlight so I could drive safely in the rainy weather. They told me to come right in and they would see what they could do. George and Ismael stood out in the rain trying to loosen up my hood latch, replace my headlight, my tail light, and even did a last minute oil change to make sure my car was safe to drive today. They topped off all of my fluids and fixed my tire pressure without even being asked. I made it out of there with a $35 charge for the oil change and 1/2 hour of labor for the hood latch/headlight repairs, topping my bill off at just under ~$100. (On the contrary, Firestone Auto told me they would charge $200 just to replace a headlight, not even knowing my hood was stuck shut). I will definitely come back here in the future. Auto shops so often leave you feeling like you were cheated, but I trust these guys and felt like they had my best interests in mind.

My car's AC was broken, and I was able to bring it into East Rock Auto on short notice. They were…read moreupfront about pricing, and were able to resolve the problem quickly. However, they also performed a courtesy inspection and recommended over $1000 of additional repairs. Most notably, they found excessive play on the ball joints on both sides, which posed a serious safety risk. This repair alone would have cost over $800. I brought the car to another local mechanic (who came highly recommended) for a second opinion. According to him, the ball joints were perfectly fine (though he agreed with some of the lower cost repairs recommended by East Rock Auto). I would use East Rock Auto again if I have specific repairs that need to be done, but I would take their courtesy inspection results with a big grain of salt.

I want to be fair and objective: the first time I came here, the service was fine and…read morewell-documented. That's why I returned. But the second visit told a very different story. I'm a woman, and I believe the shop assumed I had no knowledge of car repair pricing. I have the full digital estimate saved as screenshots, so here are the facts: TRUNK WEATHER STRIPPING Quoted: $433.08 Labor: $132.78 | Part (trunk seal): $274.44 Reality: A trunk weather seal costs $20-$60 in parts. Labor is a straightforward 30-45 min job. Fair total in CT: $100-$130 MAX. They were charging 3x the reasonable price inflating the part alone by over $200. SPARK PLUG REPLACEMENT (6 cylinders) Quoted: $961.78 Labor alone: $691.03 | Parts (6 plugs + gasket kit): $213.32 Reality: According to AAA, RepairPal, and industry standards, a V6 spark plug replacement runs $150-$350 total, or up to $500 at a dealership for hard-to-access engines. Labor nationally ranges from $55-$437 they quoted $691 IN LABOR ALONE. That is simply not defensible. POWER STEERING FLUID RESERVOIR Quoted: $454.78 Labor: $182.10 | Part: $245.53 Reality: This reservoir typically costs $30-$80 in parts. The job takes under an hour. Fair total: $130-$170. They marked up the part by over $170. MOUNT & BALANCE 2 TIRES (215/60/16) Quoted: $373.74 They also added $23.79 for "Road Hazard Coverage" without asking me. Reality: Those tires run $80-$110 each at Costco or Walmart. Mount & balance is $20-$25 per tire. Fair total: ~$230-$270. I declined all four jobs. The overcharge on just these items totals approximately $1,000-$1,300 above fair market value in New Haven, CT. What I did approve (Fluid Film Treatment $199.99 and Transmission Drain & Fill $193.66) seemed within a reasonable range and I have no complaint there. If you are a woman, speak limited English, or appear unfamiliar with car repair get a second opinion before approving ANYTHING here. Bring someone with you, or check RepairPal.com for fair price ranges in your zip code before you walk in.

The interior of my car became flooded up to my ankles. I drove around looking for a place that would hopefully be able to at least get the inside dry so that it wouldn't start to stink in my car. I happened upon One Stop, and instead of making me feel like a jack@$$, which would have been well-warranted, they were very helpful and vacuumed out the interior of my car. The floor mats needed extra time, and so they offered to hang them up in the shop for a couple days free of charge. Upon my return to pick them up, I brought the guys some coffee, which is nowhere near enough to thank them for their kindness. In the future, I will most definitely be taking my car to One Stop for repairs. Thanks, guys! I've attached a "before" picture for your comedic entertainment.

I remember I left it with Bill and went away on vacation for two weeks. I got back to an unanticipated $100 bill for something very minor. From that day on I have never gone to another mechanic. His work is always nose on and he's always been honest with me. I can't speak high enough and give enough praise to Bill and One Stop. Being a Realtor who puts 40k + miles a year on my cars I have been there quite a bit.
