Yikes. Not a good experience. Experiences like this one remind me why I shop online. I called on a Tuesday asking if two medals I already had could be engraved and ready for a middle school graduation on Thursday. I was told yes and to come by. While Yelp says they close at five, the gentleman on the phone said he would be there until 10 pm (!!). Great! I arrived same day at 3:30 pm. I wrote down what I wanted and asked again if the medals would be ready considering the short notice /turn around time. He (don't know his name) said yes. He told me they would be ready within 24 hours, but to wait for his call. Wednesday came and went. No call. I called him. No response and the call went straight to voicemail. I called again. Same thing. Well, it's Thursday and the graduation is tonight. I called and no response. I called again. No response. I decided to drive over from Redwood City. I got there at 11 or so and the door was closed. The sign said open and I was there during business hours, but nothing. I just called at 1:35 and someone picked up! Yay! I asked if the medals are ready. He said let me check. Gets back on the phone and says they will be ready after 3:30. I explained that I didn't have time to do all of that, so were the awards finished or not. He admitted he hadn't started. I said, you know what? How about this? Don't start them. I will come by to pick them up from you tomorrow. Don't worry about it. And his response: PERFECT. ?! Odd and annoying all the way around. read more

I've had numerous items engraved here and have always been delighted by the kind and personal service I've received.

my friend had recently completed the boston marathon and was in search of a place to have his medal engraved but it was tricky since most souvenir and trophy stores were not willing to engrave a complicated medal such as the one for this historic race (it had a partial cutout which made the engraveable section quite narrow). i was actually referred to this shoppe by things remembered since they couldn't engrave the boston marathon medal. i emailed them to see whether they could engrave this medal and provide a quote, they asked for a photo and what exactly i was seeking, i replied, and they came back to me with a quote a few days later. the quote was actually quite reasonable, $16-18 and medal would be ready in 1-2 days. i stopped by the store a week or so later, on a monday, dropped off the medal, and was actually quoted $19.50, a bit higher than the initial email estimate but perhaps after seeing the medal in person he felt it would require more work...not a big deal since it was only $1.50 more than the high range of his initial estimate. he told that it would be ready by the end of the week and he'd call me when the work was done. i had said that i wasn't in a rush, so it didn't bother me that it would be 4 days instead of 1-2 days. plus the guy seemed very nice and honest. at the end of the week, i didn't receive a call, and come next monday, i was in the area, so i decided to stop by and see if it was ready. maybe they forgot to call me? when i got there, the shoppers owner told me that he was sick last week and got behind, therefore my friend's medal was not yet completed. he said that he would call when it was done, another 1-2 days....guess i should have waited? but in all fairness it should have been ready 3 days earlier and i wasn't informed in advance that there would be a delay. strike 1! a few days later, i still hadn't received a call, so i decided to call them to check on the status. there was no answer so i left a voicemail and received a call back right away stating that the medal was ready a couple of days ago! i asked why i wasn't phoned when the work was completed and i was informed that he was busy and forgot. strike 2! i stopped by the store later that day and picked up the medal. the work itself was very good, engraving was done exactly the way my friend requested and it looked great. however when i pulled out my credit card, i was informed that credit was only accepted for transactions over $25! geez, they could have put up a sign indicating this. i think most businesses have a lower limit for credit transactions so this cake as a surprise. anyhow, fiasco avoided, medal was picked up and delivered to my friend who was very pleased with the workmanship, but i wish they had better communication re the order completion so that i wouldn't have made an unnecessary trip and had to follow up with a phone call. overall, good store, good local business but they could use some refinement with customer communication. read more

I needed a military challenge coin to be engraved on both sides, and I was relieved to find a small, local engraving business. I was surprised that the owner did not offer me any choices in terms of font (even style), didn't want to know if I wanted it to be all-caps or regular, and I basically held my breath and hoped it would work out. He said I would have it back in a week, which I thought was excessive for a few words, but promised he would call me on an appointed day to let me know that it was ready. He didn't call. I played phone tag with him, but eventually caught up with him, picked up the coin, paid cash (less than twenty bucks), and I thought it looked fine. It could have been in a typeface that more closely matches the type on the coin, but that was probably too much to ask (and obviously was). The coin's recipient was pleased with the outcome, so in the end, that's all that matters. I bet I would have had a better customer service experience and had access to better options if I went with another business. read more

I have never had such disappointing service from a vendor before. I came in with three small plaques on a Wednesday, was told it was a one day job, and I said I'd come pick it up Friday morning. I call on Friday...they're not ready. He calls me at 7:30pm and tells me to come pick them up. I live on the other side of the Bay, and asked if I could come get them on Sunday. He repeatedly refuses to make an appointment and insists that I call him when I'm on my way. I paid $89 for three thin, flat metal leaves to be engraved, and when I brought them to the event I was almost late for because of this situation, I see that one has been badly BENT and the other has a serious misspelling. The man was late, rude, provided a very poor quality service, and was significantly more expensive than anticipated. I try to support independent businesses as much as possible, but I will warn people away from this place. I'm trying to get a chargeback issued from my credit card company, because dealing with this guy has been a complete nightmare, and I still need the work to get redone, elsewhere. read more

I had to get a trophy custom made for my company and the owner of this business did a very good job in helping me make the deadline. Here is the breakdown: 5 stars for personal service: The owner is an expert in his field and the trophy came out looking better than I visioned. 2 stars for store appearance: I had to walk a block to the nearest Walgreen to get cash because he didn't have his credit machine set up. He recently moved to this location but I wished he let me know in advance 4 stars for speed and design: I only had four days for the trophy to be made and he was able to get it done while other companies I called said a week time frame. One star is lost because the original base I picked wasn't available. Overall the experience was great and if I had to do it again, I would go back. I would just bring cash as well. read more

I bought a fancy ring box for our wedding. I opted to use a wedding ring box instead of a ring pillow. My fiancé and I wanted our wedding ring box to be special so we had it engraved. The guy/owner was friendly and suggested to me what font and size will work nicely for our ring box. It was ready in a few days and it turned out great. We had the phrase "love and laughter happily ever after" and our names and wedding date engraved on it. Total price for engraving $20. read more

This is a very small local shop. I usually prefer to support local business whenever possible. Unfortunately, things did not work out with this vendor. I dropped off a small nameplate for a trophy to be engraved on Monday afternoon and was told it would be ready the next day. He said it was no problem and that he would call me when it was ready on Tuesday. No call... I let it go and figured that maybe he needed a little extra time. I tried calling on Wednesday and the phone rang off the hook. Tried again today and the person that answered told me that the owner was in Mexico until the 7th of Feb and that he had no idea where my order was. To add to the frustration, I dropped off another nameplate for them to use as an example and now they both are missing. I also prepaid. No plate and I'm out $14.50 for a small 1.5-inch plate to be never be engraved or seen again. read more

Service : 4-5 stars Hours : 4 stars, would be nice if they opened weekends (M-F 9-6pm) I had a photo frame with pewter plaque for recording baby's birth info , and the owner patiently discussed the options with me while I vacillated over what to include. He managed to pack a lot of text into the plaque, and it was beautifully scripted with ample space left. Cost was $34, and it took 9 days (I didn't ask for rush). The store front doesn't look impressive as other posters noted, but it was a pleasant change to support a local business with competitive pricing. He also accepts credit cards now. read more

Took military medals in to have names and dates applied by a local, rather than mailing to DC for the government to lose em. While the shop shared with a watch repair, and is "old world" to be kind, the results is what matters. Yes, he took much longer than expected, but he took care to do the difficult tiny text by hand to make it up to his standards. The cost was tiny too. Quite satisfied. read more

Great experience. I had an unusual item to engrave but foolishly put off doing so until a few days before my boyfriend's birthday. I called around to many other local engravers and all I heard back was that either they couldn't do what I wanted (text in an arc) or it was going to cost a lot and take a week. Until I called Precision Engravers. He was able to take on my project, fit it into his schedule to have finished by the next evening (in time for the birthday party), and charge me a very reasonable price. I received very personable service, speaking directly with the gentleman who actually does the engraving and runs the shop. I was also very satisfied with the quality of the engraving. It turned out great; even better than I had imagined it. Between the service, quality, turn around time, and price, I would recommend them and get something else engraved here in a heartbeat. i brought in a ring to be engraved here on wednesday and he quoted it to be finished friday morning or early afternoon (its delivery was quite time sensitive). On friday EVENING i called HIM and he was still not finished (not that this is uncommon to take 2 days, but he ASSURED me it'd be finished by friday AM). when i went to pick it up to my dismay the ring was BROKEN. he took it his next door neighbor shop and the man super glued it together, which sufficed for the moment and he did say he could further fix it if needed. When i went to pay for the engraving, i asked if I could perhaps have a discount, considering this tacked on an hour of my own time and the stone in the ring was completely cracked and now superglued onto the ring and he said "well now i have to pay for the man who fixed it!" ?!?!? This is the OWNER of the shop. I shouldve gotten my engraving for a considerable discount, if not for free. I understand that accidents happen and am totally sympathetic to them, but a broken ring is totally unacceptable and I should have recieved reimbursement or at least a free engravement. read more

On a Friday I dropped off a very small job. He said to come back anytime the following Monday. Shortly after I left the item and drove away, I remembered I hadn't asked what the price would be; I phoned, and he said $14. Monday at 2:35 I returned. There was an "open" sign but the door was locked; another sign, a clock, showed "back at 3:30. I waited and waited - I had driven a considerable distance and didn't want to come back later. (Meanwhile, another customer came by with a job to drop off, waited 25 minutes and finally gave up, saying she would take the work elsewhere.) Finally at 3:55 the man returned. His reason for closing up shop in the middle of open hours and blowing off customers? "I had errands to do." Then, after I'd waited for him an hour and 20 minutes, he told me it would be $16, not the $14 he'd quoted on Friday. read more
