I tried installing a new garage door by myself (a friend helped me with it), and garage door then didn't work so well. So I called Precision to try to get an adjustment. Bill came to my property and told me my 2 springs needed to be replaced. I knew full well that when I changed it, the springs were fine. Subsequently, Bill quotes me over $500 For the repair: $200 for each spring x2, and approximately additional $100 for the labor. He was also rude with me over the phone, saying that I was trying to diagnose it myself, and not let him do his job. Well, I didn't believe what he said! I let Bill charge the $40 for the service call itself. I later found another guy, who said the springs are fine, it just needed an adjustment. I paid him $80 for the job. He was quick, polite and he knew what he was doing. Bottom line- when in doubt, ask for a second opinion. read more

I had my old garage door removed and a new one installed back in June. The very first strong wind (I live in north Fontana) caved it in. The estimator previously told me that he knew the area and that the door would be fine. This was the first lie. I called them and the person who answered said they stand behind their products and service. This was the second lie. Then the original installer came back out and said that the door can't be fixed and I'll need a completely new door and the best he could do would be $1400 after I had paid $1800 back in June. I told him I was not satisfied and the guy who answered said they stand behind their products and services. He said that I was the 5th person who had the same issue with their doors! He basically said there was nothing he could do and the owner would call me. This was the third lie. I gave them many opportunities to make this right, but they have horrible products and terrible customer service and they lie like a rug on Xanax. In March 2018, I needed all of the doors serviced on our property. Armando (Ormando?) came out, surveyed everything, and gave me a layered estimate. What do I mean by "layered"? Well, every door save one was original equipment: from the 1990's. Think on that for a moment. So, Armando gave me an estimate for servicing all the doors (including some specific hardware), plus an estimate to replace each of the original doors and openers and related hardware. He was candid about the status of each door, and explained what was likely to fail next on each door. I ended up getting all doors serviced, and, ironically, it was that one newest door that had to have the opener and chain replaced. It now works like a champ. He then cleaned and tuned up the other doors. As forecasted, one of those two doors now has to be replaced, and it was because of an aging defect in the door that Armando spotted. And, I appreciate that he was sure that we could keep using the door: just to know that when it fails, we need to replace everything. No need to spend the money yet if we don't have to. And, he wasn't sure if we'd get two weeks, two months, or two years. I appreciate that kind of candor. All of which is to say: Getting a trustworthy word and work is, indeed, hard to come by. No one reading this review or any other should expect perfection or that a service tech would come out and refuse to try to sell you their product. Of course they will try to sell you a new door or opener or their service. Some of the complaints here on Yelp rise to the level of a 5-year old lamenting the flavor of their chocolate ice cream. Garage doors present as quite simple, and that may contribute to making the complexity of the door quite deceptive. Precision Door does high quality work, but anyone believing they are dishonest or overpriced can just move on to another service. I'm calling them next to get another estimate, and then, especially if Armando comes out, I'll likely hire him to do the install of the door and opener I will purchase. read more

I had an appt schedule for today to get an estimate on a new garage door and motor. I was given a window between 8-10a. I was told when I scheduled the appt the tech would give me a call when they were on their way. At 10a I called because I hadn't heard from the tech. I understand things happen and the tech was probably running late, but there being zero communication about it was what upset me. The lady I talked to said the tech had been dispatched and she would send a message to have the tech call me with an eta. I waited another 30 minutes and hadn't heard from anyone. At this point I'm really upset and decide to call to cancel the appointment as this isn't a good start. Waited on hold for 5 minutes just to speak to someone and when I explained my situation, the lady didn't even apologize! That's so unprofessional! She proceeded to tell me if I wanted to schedule an appointment in the future and I said no that this was not a good impression and she just hung up on me. My father in law used this company with no issues so maybe it was just bad luck on our part. But whether or not this company was going to have the lowest price we will be taking our business elsewhere. Ya losing one customer is not a big deal but customer service goes a long way, if this is how we were treated at the beginning I can only imagine how the rest of the job would have went. read more

If I could leave a no star review I would. I called Friday night to schedule an appt for Saturday. I ended up having to reschedule that appt for Sunday, someone called and left a message to reschedule that appt (no reason given). We rescheduled for Monday 2-4. At 4:03 Monday I called because no one had called me or showed up for my appointment so they again rescheduled for Tuesday between 12-2 and again no one called or showed up! When I called again to find out what the heck was going on I was told that the technician was running late and was double booked - the person on the phone said they would have the technician call me to give me to set up a more accurate time. I don't know what is going on there but I'm not counting on the technician to call. I won't call back either. This company wasted 3 days of my life! I honestly feel like I'm being pranked. Excellent service all the way through. Our garage door opener stopped working so we called Precision and got a same day appt even though it was Sunday. Gilbert was our tech and he was wonderful. He installed a new garage door opener and was so good about explaining all the features and making sure we understood everything. In fact, we somehow screwed up trying to program an extra remote today (one week later!) and he walked us through step by step over the phone. Originally I was going to invest in the higher grade springs unfortunately office management(Mike Larson) was going to reduce the warranty for the higher springs from five years to six months in order for me to receive a discount (so much for military service) From a five year warranty reduced to six months warranty hardly seems fair I would've shopped around but if I did they would've charged me a $29.99 for a Estimate. So basically they have you on a hard spot you either pay for a estimate or pay for the job. Could've probably gotten a better quote if I had a little bit more time and search around but they were the only ones that will come out quickly. read more

I called Precision today, as a spring on my garage door broke. They had an appointment available same day, so I booked it. The rep was very friendly, on time, etc. (When I called to book, I explained that it is an old garage door, one piece, not panels and one spring had broken.) The rep told me he did not realize it was that type of door, and told me the door is outdated and springs are not readily available, and that I should replace the door. He quoted me a price, and when I told him I just wanted to replace the spring, as a new garage door is not in the budget, he lowered the price immediately. BIG RED FLAG!! I know the door is old, but it functions fine. I called another company who was there within an hour and replaced both springs for $166. He went and bought the springs locally, so they are obviously available. This company is a rip off! As a realtor, I consistently get asked for recommendations for service providers. Well my experience with precision started all right.they showed up at the time window they gave me. But then when they called to give me my price quote for repair on door, it was ridiculous amount of over $800 . All I had was a bent rail. After several minutes of a conversation the repair guy, Michael came to his census and gave me reasonable price of $298.00. that I could live with. But hour later I received yet another phone call from him saying he was told by his owner that they would NOT do it for that amount. At that point he never discussed another amount just replied id have to talk to a manager. The following day I had to reach back out to micheal still trying to get a reasonable bid. Had Precision Door install a new opener about 1 yr ago. About 3 months ago it stopped working. Called on a Saturday morning and they were out within 2 hours! Sensor was bad in on detector. Replaced it and still under warranty so no charge! Yesterday door wouldnt open and close all the way. Called this morning and Gilbert came out within 2 hours! THESE GUYS ARE GREAT! Our springs broke on a Saturday night and they were able to send Carlos to Temecula by noon on Monday. He explained that the door had incorrect parts installed and had been neglected for maintenance by the previous owner. He was able to do a one hour tuneup and rebuild in just over an hour. Cost was reasonable considering parts and work needed. Sounds and functions a lot better now. Parts and work is guaranteed for five years. read more

The wheels came off track and the whole garage door is off on the floor. Luckily the door wasn't damaged. Jose from Precision Door Service came next day at noon and got the door back on it's track. He also re-tuned the spring and help get the motor back in working order. I wouldn't say i am completely satisfied when i heard the high cost of just to get the door back in working order, but overall i am satisfied if my problem is solved without i breaking a sweat. I am just hoping my tenant can be more careful when handling the garage door - including not to aggregate junks around the garage door's track, which, according to Jose, might be one reason that door wheel could get derailed. read more

DO NOT CALL Precision Door! These guys are a rip-off and unethical. We called them to come out because our door cable had come off the track. On the way Billy called and said "You will probably need to replace the spring." Once he arrived he took a few seconds to put some things into his computer and then said "We will have to replace the spring to do the fix. Our company won't allow us to rewind the existing one" I asked him how much that would be and he quoted $575.00" I called him on the "re-winding" we needed may involve a 1/4 turn with a special tool. He got defensive. He then decided to belittle his competition saying "No real company would..." I asked him to leave. He threw a fit. My wife videoed it because it was so crazy. He left with threats of us being "red-lined" and to "never call our company again." I assured him I would never do business with his company. After dinner, we Googled the problem and watched a 3:23 long video on YouTube. We went in the garage and my teenage son, who is not particularly handy and has never looked at the workings of garage door before fixed it with no tools in less than 5 minutes with minimal effort. It had nothing to do with the spring. We never even had to touch it. We just had to unhook the cable, re-wind it and re-atttach it. Presto! Fixed. At best, Bill was incompetent and greedy for a commission. At worst he was a liar and a cheat. Either way, he should find a more suitable profession. Precision isn't the cheapest, but over the years I've really come to like they're openers and customer service. They're super quiet openers. The technician, Mike, never showed up for our appointment time (8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.). After 10:00 I called the company for an update. They said they had no idea why Mike didn't arrive on time and that they would have him contact me immediately. He never called. Obviously, customer service means nothing to these people. After I got frustrated enough with the runaround from their 888 number, I cancelled my service call. Go elsewhere for your business and don't believe the obviously bogus reviews on the company's website or their claim that they care about your time. I can see now why there are so many single stars on this business; because everything that has a single star is true. First bit of advice- call another company don't waste your time with these rude, price scheming, lying half-wits. First off, this company has franchisees,so the website is a total scam. And second, all the reviews on the website from different cities is also a scam cause there is nowhere to add a review, which makes sense; they'd have to take the site down from actual reviewers with real experiences. So Precision does what cable companies do- hire out to "contractors" or for a better more realistic and less professional term " installers". I was quoted a number over the phone to fix the spring and the door bracket and figured that labor was going to be added as I'm in the contracting business so I was ok with the cost and am familiar with labor rates. Well, as other posts have mentioned about this company the up charge and price gauging are a real problem with these people. The " installer" said it was going to be 175 in labor, which I immediately thought was insane and then I thought I was in the wrong business. I'm not paying 175 in labor I told him you can take off. Then he said he had some parts with him and could be cheaper. I said fine as long as you know I'm not paying 175 for the labor. Long story short I didn't pay 175 in labor even though he still wrote up the invoice with 175 for the labor- moron. Enter Katie " the half-wit, no customer service attitude" manager. I told her I wasn't paying the labor charge of 175 as I had told her guy I wasn't paying that much in labor before he started. But here's the kicker on Katie- this girl straight-up lied and said my wife had signed the contract for the labor. Not only is there no common decency at this place they are liars, cheats and thieves. Whoever owns this establishment needs to do some serious house cleaning, especially with the managers; definitely unqualified for her role. read more
