This was my go to auto shop until they started turning over management. Originally Joe was great. Honest , service oriented and very accommodating. Unfortunately with each changeover it has deteriorated. Either there's not enough help or poor scheduling it's always a long wait and you can't schedule an appointment so forget about an inspection. Enroute home to Georgia this week, our Subaru flashed a set of apocalyptic warning lights, all of which the manual said required stopping immediately. We took the first exit off Highway 29 and saw Precision Tune Auto Care. Eddie was fantastic. He ran a diagnostic and recommended we flush out the transmission fluid. Because the Subaru requires a certain type of fluid - which Eddie researched first - he had to call the local auto supply store to get it. All told, we were off road an hour. Eddie's decisions proved the right ones - we drove eight hours more with no flashing lights or issues. I recommend him and his shop without reservation after this experience. We were fortunate our car decided to act up in Culpepper, Virginia. read more

I went to Precision for an oil change and a state inspection. I was very fortunate that they could squeeze me in that day, but when I went back to pick up my car I was informed my car failed inspection because I didn't have a battery hold down. The receptionist told me to go to Auto Zone and they could get me the part I needed and install it for me and then I could come back anytime to get it reinspected since they only needed to check for that one part. I went to Auto Zone and the worker informed me that I actually did have a battery hold down and that it just looked a little different because of the model of my car. He was also kind enough to tighten it for me. When I went back to Precision, I spoke to one of the mechanics as the receptionist was not there. I was immediately met with the attitude that I was inconveniencing him by being there. When I explained the situation he informed me that I didn't fail due to lack of battery hold down but that it wasn't tightened and that he wouldn't get to see me today because they were fully booked. I explained that HIS employee told me that I was missing the part and told me to come back anytime, and when I went to the shop THEY TOLD ME TO GO TO they told me that there was an oversight with the inspection. He immediately got defensive. I explained that even if there was no oversight with the inspection, there is issues with employees telling customers incorrect information and sending them on a wild goose chase for a part they don't need. I never received an apology for the incredible inconvenience they had caused. I will not be returning to this shop ever. They seem completely disorganized and do not value their customers. read more

Joe and his team started working on the car and had the problem figured out quickly and efficiently. My husband and I are so grateful to them. Recently, the starter motor started to fail and I returned my vehicle under their 24/24 warranty. I used to use this shop for services on all of my vehicles and service was great until recently (8/2011). I went into the shop to have an VA state inspection completed on one of my vehicles. I was told it would be 30min so I decided to wait. While sitting in the shop, I was very disturbed by the worker behind the counter trying to "up-sell" items to each person that had services completed. After about 45 minutes, I stepped outside to see what was taking so long for my vehicle to be completed. As I looked into the bay, there were three technicians in the shop horse playing and using foul language, while not attending to any of the vehicles. After about an hour and 10 minutes, the man who worked behind counter came to me and informed me that my vehicle had not passed inspection due to my front brakes being worn out. I asked him what the measurement of the brakes was, and he stated "I don't know the exact measurement, but I do know that they are below the VA state standard". Being that I work in Law Enforcement, I am very aware of the VA state inspection standards, so I asked again and demanded that he provide me with the exact measurements of the brake pads. He proceeded into the shop to speak with the technician and I followed. The technician stated that the brake measurement was 2/32. So in the state of VA, 2/32 is legal and passes inspection. After I advised him of this, he told me that I could get on the ground and look at the pads myself and see that they do not pass. He said the top of the pads are 2/32 and pass, but the bottom of the pads are below 2/32 and will not pass. After much debate, I went ahead and paid for the rejection sticker and went to another shop in town. That shop performed a free brake inspection, removed the pads from the vehicle and measured them. The measurement was between 4/32 and 5/32 making the brakes perfectly legal. With this information, I went ahead and had that shop complete the inspection, to which my vehicle passed with no issues. I also contacted the VA state police (vehicle inspection division) and advised them of the situation. They stated that they would look into the information and take the appropriate action to have Precision notified. BEWARE WHEN DEALING WITH THIS SHOP...... VERY SHADY...... read more

I needed to get an alignment for my Honda Civic, so I called the day before and scheduled an appointment. I arrived a little early and everyone was really friendly. They checked me in and I handed over my keys. I waited about 10 minutes and then one of the mechanics told me that it would be best if I replaced two of my tires, otherwise it could be a waste of money to get it aligned. He even took the time to show me the two tires. The reason I didn't know is because the tires had worn down on the inside and was starting to show wire. He gave me a couple different places to get a great deal on tires and I went in town to Franklins where they replaced my tires in 20 minutes. When I came back to Precision they took my car in right away and did the alignment in 40 minutes. There were a lot of other cars there but they were fast and my car rides so much smoother! I am completely happy with the service and prices. Next time I need auto care I will be going to Precisions! read more

Let me start by saying I have been here many times and been pleased with the work done to my cars. That ends today. Went in yesterday for an oil change $24.95 on their sign. Nobody in the waiting room and no cars in any bays. Took me over 2 hours for an oil change. They come out and say my air filter is collapsing. I say go ahead and change it even though I know its at least a 30% mark up on price. I go to pay my bill and the person at the desk forgets to charge me for the air filter. I remind him of that and he says thanks for being honest. I go home and check my bill and there is a $4.72 charge for shop supplies ????? I return the next day to a new person at the desk and ask how I can be charged $4.72 for shop supplies for an oil change. He says to me "no need to disrespect me" what the hell is he talking about and states that is an across the board charge for everybody. I say what could possibly be a shop charge for an oil change. He says shop rags ...REALLY!!!So my 24.99 oil change is really a 29.71 oil change. He says if I really want the $4.72 back he would give it to me. I say keep my $5.00 and I will never be back here. Maybe honest mechanics... but the business practice of this company is shameful. Check your bills people. Whats disrespecting is bait and switch practices. It might only be $4.72 but its not right!!!!! This place will never see me or one of my cars again. read more

I have been going to precision for approximately 13 years and never had any issues. After this last trip, however, I will not be returning! What a rip off!!!! I went to have my oil changed, they tried to charge me $50!!!!!!! After waiting an unreasonable amount of time, and speaking to the extremely rude manager about why it was so expensive, he tried to say it took a special filter, nope it doesn't, then after he stumbled over his words he came up with another excuse that it uses synthetic oil, again, nope, it doesn't!!!! So lastly after correcting his not one but second attempt at ripping me off, he then came up with the excuse they didn't carry the oil I used for my car!!!! Really?!?... What a joke!!!!!!!! You have lost a long time customer precision! Way to go with your "new management"! I went down the street to another shop that had the oil for my car, and the filter, and low and behold!!!!, it didn't cost $50!!! read more
