My kids been taking his car here for about 5 years for oil changes and stuff. They seemed pretty honest years back. The last couple of oil changes they told him he needed a valve cover gasket. He brought it back a couple weeks later for the gasket and upon their brake inspection they told him he needed a bunch more work and had damage because something wasn't done right and was extremely low on fluid. Of course he dropped his car off and left so all the formation came over the phone. I didn't think it sounded right so I went down there and said I'm going to need to see what's wrong. They put me off, I wait and then I just go Inspect my sons car myself. Brake fluid's right at the max. The brand new disks on the front from the previous brake job had no marks. You could tell they hadn't even taken the tires off the car because there were no prints on the rims and they were still dirty from use of driving. I confront them about that I was told I didn't know what I was talking about. My son paid for the valve cover gasket and the air filter that I myself replaced four weeks ago and didn't need to be done again. It should've ended there. But they have our home address and someone came to my house that night and sabotaged both my car and my sons car with letting air out of tires and who knows what else. Obviously he didn't see the Cameras sign. So not only the greasy handprints on my clean white car but also the view of somebody coming up and going all around my cars in the front of our house and working on each tire Sabotaging our cars. I've been coming here for years so this review is long overdue. My family has lived in the area for 25 years and this has been our go to shop. They have worked on all of our cars and even the motorhome! When your car breaks down it can be really frustrating so having a shop you trust and are comfortable with is really important. The staff is very friendly and make me feel like a king when I come in. If the shop is busy or if extensive repairs are needed, I have even been given a ride home by one of the employees on a few occasions. Don't buy the Groupon for this place!!!! I asked them before I purchased it if this Groupon would work for this price for what I needed. The man said yes so I bought it. THEN he said I owed the difference of the full price minus what I paid to Groupon. He said you didnt pay us $17, you paid Groupon $17. You pay us the difference. I said what is the point of buying the Groupon? They shrugged and said I don't know. I'm stuck now and have to use it. I'm extremely angry!!! They wrote on my receipt that the $17 was a "Discount"! Update: I got a call not long after my experience from a corporate representative. He explained that the prices were simply a computer error and he promised me a discount on my next visit! The price situation was my biggest gripe so I'm happy to change my review. Disappointing! I went in because I was looking for a new place to get maintenance done on my car and I saw the generally positive reviews on yelp. Everything went pretty well up to the point when I paid. I asked for an oil change and tire rotation but I was called and told that the tire rotation would be a waste of money because it was best to keep the more worn tires in the rear (he explained this was the case because the front tires would need to be replaced soon). I was glad he let me know but when I went to pay suddenly my total had jumped up $5. I explained to the lady that the tire rotation hadn't been done so my total should have in fact been $10 dollars less (price of the tire rotation). She said "oh hold on" and then came back with a total of $27. I let her know that that didn't add up because my original total had been $32 so my new total should be closer to $22. She proceeded to re-add it up in front of me and I finally said fine I'll pay the $27 since I had decided I wouldn't be coming back. Really happy with their customer service always explanatory and friendly. Really unhappy with them selling me on an ac diagnostic with no clear solution when the next shop was able to diagnose for free and teach me how to get actuator to work so I didn't have to replace the part and hurray I now have ac again. My main problem is I took it for an oil change where they said I have no oil leak and my plug/seal is fine... MY CAR HAS AN OIL LEAK! When I asked my husband about the hot smell he looked and pointed out within 2 minutes where the oil was piling up under my hood and 2 other shops confirmed I have an oil leak. Makes me very concerned that my car has an issue which may be minor at the moment but can turn bad very quick ruining my car which my 2 kids and I rely on especially for my sons heart problem which requires regular trips to children's hospital. So please by all means grab a cheap oil change but be diligent and don't be afraid to get a second opinion! read more

I took my Hummer H2 here today with a request for a last minute tune and oil change, before a month long driving trip-- tomorrow. Not only did they get everything done--when I had clearly waited way too long to get in--but they ordered in parts, had them delivered today (same day) and put 2 guys on the job to be done before dark, so I could still pack the vehicle for a departure tomorrow. The price was very reasonable, and MORE IMPORTANTLY to me, as a woman, is they never tried to "Up-sell" me or snooker me into things i didn't need. WOW!! Worst Customer Service ever. The service manager Luis has the worst customer service I have ever encountered in my life. I dropped my car off on Friday morning and was told I would get a call in 1-2 hours with the cost, 4 hours later I called them and was told the cost and that they would start it first thing Saturday morning. Luis mentioned that it would take about 6 hours to fix. I dropped by Saturday around 3pm in the afternoon and they had not even started my car. When I questioned Luis about why it hadn't been started his response was, I'll get to it when I get to it. Please keep in mind this business doesn't take appointment so my car should have been first since I dropped it off the day before. So now I'm going to miss a day of work on Monday. When I called on Monday around 2:30pm I spoke to the Owner Ken, and he ensured me that it would be done by 5:00pm. When I arrived, he let me know that they order the wrong belt for my car and that I would have to bring it back to finish the work and it would only take an hour. So, I took it back the next day after work and they had 3 hours to get it fixed, well to my surprise they once again didn't work on it, and I had to leave it there again and miss a second day of work. When I complained about the level of service, I was getting Luis proceeded to let me know never to bring my car back to them as I wasn't worth their business. So, all in all what should have taken 6 hours to do the repairs ended up taking 3 full days. This business only cares about the money as their prices are on the high side. So, if you want to be treated like dirt this is the place to go. Sorry Ken even though you tried your hardest to solve my problems I will never come back to your place as long as Luis is working there. read more

It is nice to be able to consult and deal with a auto care garage who is feverishly and doggedly devoted to excellent customer care. They can be a busy shop, but they never compromise on excellent service. Their head mechanic, Jeff, is extremely knowledgeable and communicates well with customers....as do all of the employees. Our family has gone to Precision in El Cajon for over 20 years and has never been disappointed with their excellent service. I especially appreciated the time they fixed my trunk light once, but the wiring was compromised several months later. I mentioned it to them during an oil change appointment and they redid the repair with a smile and no extra cost. It was a very awful experience, I went today for an oil change and they told me its going to take 30min next thing I see is two oil change also costumers came after me and left before me, my car was done after an 1 hour and they didn't even say we are sorry and my car is Nissan Altima which is a normal size car so no one can tell me that my car took longer than others because its different, even when they came after me. These are good, honest people. If I lived in the area I would come back for all my auto repair needs. My car broke down while passing through El Cajon, and since I was hours away from home I decided to leave my car at a nearby auto shop overnight to see if I could get it fixed to drive home the next day. When I arrived in the morning Precision Tune was already busy with many people. I could tell they were popular and well liked in the area. Despite how busy they were, Manny promptly diagnosed my car and gave me an honest answer: my car was not worth the cost of repair. He gave me a detailed explanation, as well as offered to keep my car in the shop overnight at no cost while I figured out what to do with my car. I am thankful for their generous service and all the advice they gave me, especially because I had never dealt with this kind of situation before. Please take the time to read this review, as I mean what I say coming from a logical and unbiased standpoint. This place, can and will finagle you for your money if you allow them. They treat their customers poorly, wether it's while you pay and are at the front counter, to when you speak to an actual mechanic about your vehicle. I promise you this isn't some rant because I enjoy tarnishing a businesses name. I'd rather tell someone the positives of a company. Hear me out. To start, I paid for an oil change. Nothing un-ordinary. I come back to pick up my car. The battery is dead, and "maintenance required" light is still on. I go inside to tell them both issues, they are nonchalant and inconsiderate of a customer not getting the STANDARD of what you should receive with an oil change. They question me as if it were my fault for the issue. Granted I didn't have the best battery but it never died on me once. Had to have had left the battery on for a solid 15 min plus. For an oil change you need it on for about 30 seconds or so. That's neglect in itself. I never received an apology or even any sympathy to the fact they didn't fulfill the job I payed for. So, I get over that situation thinking maybe it was a one time thing.. lets try it again. So when I pay this time I politely tell them if they can make sure those things are covered this time. Again, a rude, and interrogative response from the lady at the desk whom wasn't even helping me nor was I speaking to. She butted in the conversation to give me plain attitude. Anyways, I come back after time and come to find a coupon I had left purposely for a discount on my oil change is missing from where I specifically placed it. On top of that they laid no paper to protect my carpeting from oil beneath their boots. My steering wheel was FULL of oil. I cleaned it with a Clorox wipe no lie it was completely black. My hands were filthy after the drive home. They lack any care for the customer I promise you that! In addition (this is not made up to make them look bad) my friend had taken his Audi to get a cylinder replaced. Shortly after about 2 weeks later the car broke down from a misfiring cylinder and other problems that weren't previously current on the vehicle. When he asked to have fixed what he paid to get fixed they told I'm it was his problem in short. He had to get the board of motor vehicles and mechanics involved and Precision Tune Auto Care had wanting nothing to do with him. His car is still broken to this day. He even had to replace his bumper because they horrendously PRYED it open with some sort of tool definitely unprofessionally and unorthodox for a supposed business that is supposed to be on point. Not to mention this is the same business that told me I needed all 4 of my rotors replaced and it would cost $1,000. Just to find out when I asked if there were other options, they left out the part where there were cheaper options for half the price. When I checked in with my regular mechanic he told me the rotors weren't the best, but definitely didn't need replacing as bad as they claimed. False measurements and straight BS. He told me he needed money but wouldn't make me pay for something I didn't actually need. Which tells me all I need to know about precision auto tune. If you like being treated less-than poorly, half ass service and insincere business then this is your place. Please I encourage people, not because I hold some grudge or want to ruin someone's reputation, please, please do not put your money into these guys. Painless Smog check. First I pull in the driveway and as I get out of my car a friendly guy walks up and asks how they can help me, he writes down my mileage and info and send me into the office. At the front desk another friendly person behind the desk takes my DMV paperwork and coupon and tells me my car will be done in 45 minutes. I walk across the street to guy-shop at Harbor Freight for 30 minutes and I came back to my car pulling out of the bay and ready for me. They are Kings of my favorite philosophy of "Under promise and Over deliver" My car was done cheaply and safely and before the time it was due, they did it all with super friendly service and I would send anyone here. read more

Not only was the car taken care of but I was too. Keeping older cars running without paying dealership prices is what this place is all about. My 16 year old Camry was leaking power steering fluid. I took the car to a dealer for repair and was quoted $1,800. I brought my car to Precision Tune and they found the leak and fixed it for $500. The guys asked me to bring it back in a few weeks just to make sure the problem was fixed. Such great customer service and they saved me a lot of money. I showed up one day because I drove over a screw and my tire completely deflated in my school parking lot. Luckily, this place is a block from my school! I came in thinking i may have to replace the tire, but they told me it would probably just need to be patched and thankfully that was all it was. My car was patched and ready to go in maybe 15 minutes. So then, I came in for a smog check pretest mostly because my car is older and I had it shipped from Hawaii. I needed a smog check of a 2013 car in order to transfer its title to a new owner. I shopped around and this place had the best price for smog check: with a coupon found on the internet, sub-$30 total, certificate included! I was expecting to wait a considerable amount of time (paying with my time instead of money). But although the place was busy, all the employees were working expediently and diligently. The whole process was super-quick; I was in-an-out in 20 minutes. The car passed (as expected). The service was prompt, efficient, and courteous. I'm sure there are time when the wait is long, but I'll be coming back for sure. Note: it is their policy that on weekdays all smog checks must be complete by 5pm (even though they close at 6pm), which means to have a smog check done, you need to be there before 4:15pm. STEER CLEAR FROM THIS PLACE! After bringing in my car for a routine oil change around 2:30pm, I stood in the lobby for 10 minutes waiting for anyone to help. When someone finally did come to assist me I was informed that it would be a 2 hour wait for an oil change. They offered me the luxury to leave my car and car keys with them and they'll take care of it, then call me once the job was completed. 5:30pm rolls around and I am still patiently waiting at home for the call, I decide to take matters into my own hands. I call Precision Auto myself and no one answers the phone. Turns out they closed for the day at 5pm and held my car hostage overnight without ever calling me. Next day at 8am I Uber to Precision Auto and speak with the manager. The receptionist called the wrong number after I left them the correct cellphone number to call. She even asked me to "verify" the number I gave them was correct before leaving the car. Highly advise anyone to never conduct business with Precision Auto, these people are incompetent of dialing a cellphone number and terrible at customer services. read more

Almost bought a 2005 Suzuki Forenza with just over 60,000 miles on it for just under $5000. Took it here to get it checked up, and they gave me a great deal on a checkup , informing me that the car had multiple major problems and would not be worth my time and money. He then recommended a separate used car dealership to me, where I found exactly What I was looking for, and it was in great condition. The owner, Kareem (sorry if I spelled It wrong) was extremely helpful and offered to do a quick inspection on my recently purchased lancer, including allowing me to inspect the car myself once it was raised. Ken, the manager, was incredibly helpful and knowledgable about everything I asked about. It only took about an hour and a half for all the services we had done. Where several shops were happy to try to rip off the secret shopper, Ken's hop told the secret shopper to go back to the dealer to get their money back! Fast service yes, but not very comprehensive. I took my vehicles here on many occassions because they offered one of the lowest prices - but turns out you get what you pay for. I came to find out after some time that they just put whatever in your car, and don't even consult or follow the service manual's specifications. Price and efficiency - good.
