Took the truck in and I got serviced right a way (A+). Tom and his mechanics ran the diagnostic test, found NO fault. The diagnostic service result was night and day from FORD services. I've now been coming here for more than several years and want to update my experiences here. In a word, fantastic; everyone here is trustworthy thorough, and personable. It's not that they "try" to be these things as much as the ARE these things. I made the mistake of getting a "package" service deal from Frank Hyundai in National City for my 2016 Santa Fe. Now there's a company that doesn't even bother to "try". Even at what money I may have thrown away, I more than make up for it at Precision where I don't have to deal with indifference, shoddy customer service and the lack of security, and repeated experiences of dissatisfaction! We bought a 2008 VW Rabbit for my daughter and brought it to Precision Tune for a used car inspection. Reasonably priced and thorough, they fixed the air conditioning, a leaking oil pan gasket, replaced a torn seat belt. All straightforward, clear communication. They call for approval before doing anything beyond the original estimate. This little Rabbit ended up needing a lot more work, clutch, flywheel, break pump, and turned out to not be the best car for my daughter who commutes a lot and didn't get the hang of the stick shift. She burned out the newly replaced clutch in a very short time. The guys at Precision took full responsibility for the replacement, honoring their warranty. They even went so far as to give her a driving lesson when we came to pick up the car. We were treated with respect, given the circumstances, it could have been unpleasant. I haven't written very many reviews but feel the need to shout accolades upon accolades about this wonderful business. Over the past several years, I have brought my vehicles in for routine maintenance services, brake replacement, DMV smog certification, and tune ups. But there are a few specific experiences I would like to share. Back in November, I was in the process of securing a home loan when my son's car engine went kaput and needed to be replaced. Making a large expenditure at that time would have been financially devastating as we were bringing in every penny of our disposable cash to close the loan and as such, the cost of a replacement engine with labor to install it, could have impacted our ability to close on the loan. And yet my son needed a working vehicle to commute to college and work. Manny said, "No worries. We will keep your son's car here at the shop, set you up in a loaner vehicle, and after your loan closes, we will get started on the replacement of the engine." I was speechless for a moment: Then I said, "Whoa, wait a minute... just to be clear, are your saying you are going to provide me a loaner vehicle for 3 to 4 weeks, at no cost, so that my personal financial situation can be resolved, and my personal transportation needs are met?" Utilized a smog check coupon from their website, $28.20 "out the door". The service advisor, Frank, was cordial, welcoming and did not try to up-sell me beyond asking if I wanted an oil change. The receptionist tried her best to get me to purchase the registration sticker, but I had already paid the registration fee and I opted to just have the DMV mail them to me. I have taken my car here for years. Had one issue a couple of years ago where they didn't put a shield back on and had to return. Since then no issues until the last three times in. Got my car back, drove it home, and was leaking oil all over my driveway. Called and returned for another 45 min wait. Oil filter not screwed on properly. Didn't offer anything for the inconvenience or mess. Next took my truck in. Paid to top fluids but apparently they don't do brake and power steering. So why pay $5 for window fluid when I can get an entire gallon for less. Then they wouldn't honor my $5 window sticker discount for next service. Was going to find another place but the cold and my laziness brought me back. Prices have doubled, techs never show up on time so they are always backed up. Arrived 20 min before opening 8am and was told about and hour but was still waiting for car to go on rack 1 1/2 hours later 9:30. Watched people coming in later being helped instead. Same excuse every time. Short on help but observed techs sitting around doing nothing. Charging about $42 to change oil. Time to shop around or start doing it again myself. Too bad. Soooo, I bought a Groupon for an oil change at this place. Got there & they said it would be an extra $10, because our car needs 5w30 not 10w30. It's in the 'fine print'. This I know. What I also know is that 5w30 does not cost any more than 10w30. Finally an honest and competent auto repair shop that treats their customer with respect and dignity, and doesn't take advantage of them for a quick buck! I took my wheelchair accessible van here because I have been having major electrical problems for two years that were overlooked or misdiagnosed by 3 other area auto repair shops. I have spent several thousand dollars chasing these problems only to be stranded because of incompetent and greedy auto shops. I guess being in a wheelchair, some people think I'm nieive and an easy mark. I was told I needed a new computer, a new fuse box, electrical busses and was even told by one famous area shop that I need a computer that only they could obtain through their supply chain and for over $500 and couldnt even locate one! I was able to locate one for $165 with a lifetime warranty! They said they couldn't install it because it would hurt their AAA Certifications by installing it because they couldn't warrantee it! So I made a decision to bring my van to Precision Tune. Ken immediately assured me that I was in good hands and that he would take care of my van and not take advantage of me. He practically guaranteed me I wouldn't need a new computer! His mechanic Ronaldo correctly diagnosed the electrical issues as melted wires and connectors and vent showed me the damage. He completely rewired the melted wire harness and replaced a couple melted connectors and blown fuses and had my van running without the need to replace the computer or any other unnecessary hardware. These guys rocked it! We had our truck towed in to Precision in the evening after breaking down on the highway. They followed up the next morning right away with the diagnosis and repair. They were done the same day and we picked it up on our way out of town. Ken and his team saved our road trip! We even came back after picking it up, wondering about a leak, just in case, before getting back on the highway and Ken came right out before we could even go into the office. He welcomed us back so soon and helped us figure out we just had a lot of AC condensation coming out. He explained how we could tell and what to look for in the future. He was extremely kind and compassionate, assuring us they'd fest driven it and checked numerous extra thing a just in case before sending us back on the highway with our kids. The next time we need any help near EL Cajon or anywhere around San Diego, we will absolutely visit Precision. They are awesome and we wish we had them back at home in AZ. The staff is friendly, but, at root, they are in the business of overcharging customers for basic auto repair work. They quoted me 100+ dollars above the market price for front breaks. They also charged my wife some 100 dollars to run a simple transmission test (the same one AAMCO does for free), after which they told her that a complete transmission overhaul was needed. Of course here too the quote was much above market price. We won't go there again. read more

I took my car in for an ignition coil replacement. The shop sourced out the part for me and repaired it for me. They were fast, courteous, and fixed the misfire I was getting. The mechanic on duty was a real professional, he came to talk to me about the repair and went showed me I only needed a half hour of labor to fix the car. He didn't try to upsell me or get me for a full hour. I can't remember his name, but he worked on a Sunday and he rode a really nice Harley Davidson! read more

Good luck trying to use a discount card here. They won't take appointments and there is a long wait for a walk in. Card says they close at 6pm. They close at 5pm and the garage is "shut down" at 4pm. When I show up, wait is at least 1.5 hours for just an oil change making it impossible to get done at lunch or before or after normal working hours. Had my tires rotated and had a wobbly ride the next day. Took to discount tire and they said tires were not mounted properly and they redid it for free. Manager is rude, and told me if I don't like it go somewhere else, and if I posted on Yelp he would "Yelp back at me" WTF? Went to Jiffy Lube, cheaper and I was in and out in 20 minutes. read more

This is a long over due review! As a woman I hate mechanic shops! The foreign language, the long waits, the cold lobby and filthy bathrooms, the condescending "sales reps", the gut feeling you get that you are being blatantly ripped off.... it's enough to make ya just want to trade in your car rather than get it worked on!! But NOT here! I don't even live in California anymore but I used this shop for the 3 years I lived in El Cajon and referred pretty much my whole family to them and they are still taking excellent care of everyone's car. Dave is awesome! I rarely ask for anyone else when I call because I love his honesty and the fact that he will explain and literally point out exactly what the problem is for me. He even told me when/if he thought someone was telling me something needed to be done "right now" for the extra money or if it's more a preventative thing that I can wait on. He's like an honest uncle giving it to ya straight! The prices are comparable to other shops and they usually have deals/coupons online or sent out in the mail or in the penny saver. They do fast work and when they can't make it fast they have a loaner-- no the loaner is no looker but it'll get ya from point A to point B! They seem to be busiest on weekends and Mondays so I would call ahead! The lobby is clean & has a tv running all the time. I haven't ever spent much time on site since they have a loaner car but it seems nice enough! I really like that everything they do on your car is reported to carfax... my mom basically had them rebuild her car and then a week later it was totaled... the insurance gave her more than KBB value due to the carfax showing she had recently put a lot of money into it. We had no idea this was even possible until Dave confirmed this so it was quite a blessing! Only con for me is the older lady who works the counter.... I'm guessing she's somebody's mother or something because she seems to want to throw power trips about prices or random policies after the mechanic has already agreed to something. I have had her do this twice-- once on the phone and on a different visit in person. One morning I stopped by to pay for my fiances service on my way to work to make it easier for us to pick up the car after hours. She kept telling me it couldn't be done it was against policy blah blah blah but after I lost my patience with her and called Dave into the conversation he quickly put her in her place and honored the agreement we had made over the phone. I had no problem picking up my car after hours and I haven't had a problem with that lady ever since! The men working there are great... but that old broad is a serious pill. read more

First, thank you for giving me an option of factory recommendation oil and regular oil. I picked the highest quality oil you have and paid extra for it. Additional to that, I drive freeway more than an hour everyday, would your oil be wasted and gone to zero if your car is not leaking? the answer is no. To cover their bullshit that they did they had to tell me that my gasket went bad and should be replaced. They estimated $300 to do it with labor of three hours. I did not trust, i took it to another shop and the car was lifted on a jack in front of me and all what i see was a clean freaking dry engine with no leaks or single drip of oil. As the guy is changing the oil, it flew running out of the engine or how zero thickness the fluid had. Thank you for ruining my engine and getting my O2 sensor dead, because the oil went up to it while getting burned of low quality. Check engine is on and was fixed for $200 for the sensor. P.S. I took it to the shop right on the due oil change date that they recommended for me. DO NOT GO TO THESE RIP OFF GUYS. read more

My wife came in to this shop about 2 weeks ago and ask for a quote to repair her 2002 bmw;it needs an engine,she got a quote of approximate $3,500.00 at that time. We decided to bring the car 2 days ago to get the engine replaced.Before bringing the car to this shop she stopped by and ask them if she could bring the car,they urged her to bring it right away and told her that it was going to cost a little more than what they estimated before.After bringing the car she got a phone call and they told her that it was going to cost $5000.00 plus fees and told her that they couldn't honor the first estimate because the prices change every day.We decided to take our car into another shop.I don't recommend this shop to do repairs on my friends or relatives cars,they will ripe you off. read more

They supposedly found all kinds of things wrong with my car and quoted me a price over the phone. Ince I came in to pay, I was charged something totally different. He blamed it on me hearing wrong. I said it's fine, I just want an accurate quote. The he proceeded to inform me, witha crazy attitude, that he could just take the part out. I already said I'll pay, I was just surprised. We found a coupon in the penny saver and went here to have our car checked out. Our AC is not working and is blowing hot air. We waited for over an hour, then went up to the counter to ask about the status of our car. They said that it was just now being taken in to be looked at. Meanwhile, people were coming in to get services done on their cars, and we were being told that the wait time would only be about twenty to thirty minutes. We waited for another thirty minutes and still hadn't heard anything. Mechanics were coming in to the store and apologizing to other customers about the wait but nobody ever said anything to us. After thirty more minutes we went and talked to the lady at the front counter. She said they were still working on the car. My husband went over to the garage to talk to the mechanics and they said that it would take at least another hour to an hour and a half. They claimed that a mechanic had called in sick and the other Mechanic needed to take his lunch break. My questions is, what have they been doing with my car for the last two hours? They still do not know why they AC isn't working but we chose to leave because we do not have all day to sit around and wait. We will not be returning here mainly because of their poor customer service. We are going to another place as I add this review right now. read more

Serious buyers remorse. I bought the Living Social voucher for 3 oil changes for $30. I have been here 2x and the wait has been anywhere from 1 hour to 2 hours. I even got there 20 minutes before opening and there were already a number of cars ahead of me. The mechanic that was there (same one each time) is rude as well. Hard to get any answer from him. Trying to get a refund from LivingSocial. If I do, great. If not, I will just count my losses and move on. Do not buy the voucher for the 3 oil changes! Took our 1999 Ford F-150 here, found out that we needed the passenger front and rear cats. long story short they wanted to charge 1,500 for the cats and I said ok let me call someone and see....We left, took it somewhere else and got referred to Ed Hansen....We ended up going to Ed Hansen and I am so glad that we did....We saved over 500 dollars! That is a lot when you don't have it! I would go to Ed Hansen in Spring Valley ANYTIME! this place is a joke with prices! Oh and they wanted to charge 78 dollars for an o2 speed sensor.....Went to Auto Zone and got it for 15 dollars and only 1 bolt to deal with! RIP OFF! Plus he wanted to charge for labor for that part when he was already gonna get labor from the CATS! It seriously only took my BF 5 mins to do the sensor! Came in to get my headlight bulb that was out, with my brake lights spent a total of about 2 hours to have them tell me they needed more time for the repair. Took my car the next day to another mechanic turns out my wire to my headlight was disconnected hence the reason why my break light was also out complete waste of time & not to mention they were going to charge me about $70 for the headlight repair and an additional $55 just to test my car and see if they had an electrical issue. Please save your money and go else where! read more
