Very disappointed with this company I have been taking my vehicles here for quite sometime now at first before taking my cars here I had called them to find out if they used a certain type of synthetic oil and I was told they did and only to find out they were not using what they had told me, and at one point after getting my car just newly oil changed I find out my car was 2 quarts low on oil which was very annoying when you just got an oil change not too long ago, and no my car is not leaking oil this is a fairly brand new vehicle So in short people please be forewarned about this company's business practices, will not be coming back here again ever!!!! read more

If you roll out a new policy that negatively effects current customers you might want to rethink your rollout of these policies. After I waited in line, got my mileage, the receptionist looked me up in their system and found me. After confirming she had me in the system she then asks for a printout... I had the confirmation on my phone & they had it in their system but they still required a printout when in the past that wasn't necessary (Apparently it's a new rule). There was a copy machine directly behind the receptionist.. So I asked her, can we print it out from there? She said "it's not plugged in." So I asked and said "hey this was not necessary last time, any chance you can plug it in & help me out this time, I would really hate to drive all the way back home to printout something. She says "nope, I just enforce the rules." I said, but you already have me in your system. Then she says "too bad for you." Honestly I'm just flabbergasted all the way around I won't be coming back even if we ALREADY PAID. As an owner if your going to create new rules such as you need to have a printout of something that you already paid for EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE THE INFORMATION IN THEIR SYSTEM, you should be smart enough to have your printer plugged in & service your customers. Today was my first visit at this auto care spot, and would definitely recommend. I was around the area, I needed a smog without even realizing it had to be star certified and landed at the right spot. I was greeted by a mechanic and he was very friendly and then directed me to the actual entrance. I was then greeted by Ken, which was so kind and helpful. They were able to see my car with no appointment and were very efficient. I waited inside(covid friendly) until my car was ready to go. Ken (Im assuming the owner) created conversation while I waited. While waiting customers kept coming in and out. Which is a good sign. After 40mins I was good to go and my car pasted the smog . Came here on a Sunday morning , about 5 minutes after they open . There was already a long line . Ok , I get it they are cheaper than most places . But the receptionist was really slow , I mean it was inappropriate slow . She took about 6 minutes per customer to check you in . Then she slowly walked out to the cars to finish the check in . As I stood there waiting in line a very long time I noticed the mechanics also took their sweet time working on 1 car at a time . Maybe they're slow to wake up on a Sunday morning . I don't know but Sunday is your day to get a lot of stuff done and you're no going to get a lot of stuff done if you have to wait here two to three hours for a simple oil change, because they are very slow .. He called me back and gave me a quote. 2 weeks later I brought my car in and one week later they inform me that they can't do the work. I was a customer for 4 years, unfortunately a customer doesn't know what they are getting from this garage regardless of what the garage says and/or is written down. They were putting less than the dealer recommended oil in my car for 4 years and it was admitted. Putting the wrong oil in one's car can cause engine problems [simply google this] . The managers will state otherwise because they don't care / the son Manny is even rude and Ken (father) offers uncaring kindness. The garage itself offers fake service at a cheap price because it will ensure unwitting customers will keep coming. My Dad was a mechanic and I understand what the varying weight of oil does to a vehicle's engine / I just foolishly trusted this garage because they 'seem' so kind and are cheaper. Cheap can end up costing consumers a lot more in the long run. Please read on ... Call the BAR (bureau of Auto repair) when having troubles with a garage. The BBB is paid for by the companies registering with them. The BAR is paid to address consumer affairs and the law. During my last visit as well...the mechanic admitted to not checking my air pressure. I had trusted this garage but noted my tires were always low and so I watched this time (it was suggested by the dealer that I call and ask what kind of oil they were putting in my car months later). On the wrong oil they used, I called and a mechanic admitted I was not having the recommended oil put in my car. He didn't know what my car took or I had called the dealer. With garages though, they will tell a customer -- it doesn't matter / many customers accept this who know little about vehicles. I'm suggesting you become aware here because I care about consumers being fooled by fake smiles. If not enough, I have needed brake pads (perhaps they were waiting until my rotors needed repair before letting me know ... or maybe they will write they informed me on their paperwork, while it's not written on mine and is a safety matter just as tire pressure can be. They charge more than most garages for brake services and other services. Cheap oil changes is a marketing ploy. You wait a long time as well for the disservice you might be getting from this garage (while told it will be 45 minutes / it has been as long as 2 hours). I feel like I was prey and I wish I had watched earlier (with the low tire pressure, this could have resulted in a tire blow out and uneven tire wear if I didn't immediately go to a tire store to have the tires checked). CA law requires tire pressure checked at every service. Manny's solution ... yell at the workers. Who wants that (at least mechanics were honest at what they didn't do right that I paid for/it's apparent management is faulty). Management's excuse "too busy" -- so again, you don't know what you are getting at this garage. After chasing the manager down (calling corporate and the business many times) -- the manager asked I waste more of my time going to his garage again so he can show me paperwork suggesting he can put what oil he wants in my car (its not from the dealer who I already contacted, so I guess he wanted to waste my time trying to fool me again)?? I recommend all consumers ensure you are getting the manufacturer's suggested oil and maintenance and 'do not' listen to this or any garage's suggestion that goes against the manufacturer of your vehicle on oil types and services. I also recommend you make sure you really need a service (get a second opinion if you are going to this shop especially in my opinion / you will find this garage has low prices on oil changes, but higher than most prices on other services. They take the cut on oil changes to draw in customers ... it's a business technique / done by sharks, in my opinion). I would not recommend this garage to anyone's worse enemy, because you simply do not know what services you are getting regardless of what is written on paperwork and the manager, Ken who can 'act' kind really doesn't truly care. They express phony concern / their solution is excuses (of being busy as if that is any excuse for poor service) and to waste your time after they mess up with your vehicle and not even offer a reasonable solution or to make good for their wrongs done. I feel this is a garage preying on saving people a dime who in my case (and I doubt I was singled out however ignorant I was for trusting this garage so long), they didn't provide the services I paid for and cared less about possible future engine damage due to their negligence or even caring about me as a customer (they have too many customers for cheap oil changes). Consumers beware! My heart goes out to the customers (like I was) believing they were getting discounted services who are really unaware of what they are actually getting. I always ALWAYS come here for any work I need done whether it's an oil change or something more. I've been getting my car serviced here for years and I have no complaints about their service at all. The only downsides about this place is that you can't make appointments so you'll be waiting the first come first serve time for your car to be finished and they're not open Sundays. They're only open until 5pm on their open days so if you get off at 430 or 5pm you'll have to wait until Saturday or get work done somewhere else with more flexible hours. The main reason I started coming here aside from my aunt recommending it is that it's the only auto care place in my area that accepts the eoilchange Groupon. I pay $30 for 3 oil changes and I just bring in the voucher and they stamp it and go. A really nice deal considering oil changes are usually around $30-$50 anyway. I've barely had to bring my car here outside of getting oil changes because they do such good work to keep my baby in tip top shape. If you live in the El Cajon area I highly recommend you try this place out if you're looking for honest people to service your car. read more

Came in at 7:45 we had an appt. st 8:00 am, we were the first people here. Also by the time they pulled me up on computer it took 30 minutes. We left around 8:20 went and ate did some Shopping and came back at 10.. all that had been done was the tires taken off. Bad bad service. Long wait. And at the end they will mess your car... Lots of complains against this place. Don't waste your time and money. I wish I knew! I went for a simple oil change and quickly they stated I need to replace the whole oil pan ($+500). They messed it up and didn't take responsibility. And they play the blaming game! Again, don't waste your money and time in this place! Answering their message: Bureau of Automotive didn't say you didn't do anything wrongly, they said that they simply cannot prove when my oil pan threads were damaged. However, my mechanic states that most likely you are liable for the damage of the threads otherwise it would have been leaking from my previous oil change. And of course they blame other repair shops, what a coincidence that I've been having my last oil changes at another auto shop and because I was using Groupon this time and did my oil change at your shop, now my oil pan threads were all messed up and I need to replace the whole oil pan... I've been taking my car here for smog checks. Just that one year, this year, it failed. I keep my car in gooD condition; oil, coolant, transmission and etc checked up. The engine service light was on, and I guess I have forgotten that I have taken my car to different mechanics and they all don't know what it is.They pick up the code and said it be 115$ to find out what it is. I brought my Volvo XC90 in for an oil change, my vehicle require synthetic which is ALWAYS so much more expensive- I was so excited when I was given the total. I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was compared what I was paying previously. The ladies at the reception area/ cash register were so freaking awesome. I wish I remembered their name because they both deserve a shout out. Super friendly, kind and professional. Thank you ladies! The wait time was quiet long BUT I was happy to do work on my computer while my car was serviced. I like to think that their wait time is a direct reflection on their prices and great service. Okay- now for the reason I only gave 3 stars. 3 weeks after I took my car in for an oil change, I had to get a jump start on my battery (this had nothing to do with the oil change I received) and when I lifted my hood, I found the cap to my power steering reservoir on missing. I paid the extra fee bucks to have my fluids check and topped off, and when I checked out the awesome ladies told me that my power steering fluid was low (so I know this was the last place the cap was removed). LUCKILY the cap was wedges between my windshield and hood, so I didn't have to pay for a replacement BUT this seemed like it could have caused problems to my vehicle and that would be such a shame. Attention to detail and maybe a check list while working on someone's vehicle should be a requirement. Of course I'd still recommend this place because the prices and the ladies at the front make up for this but also 1 persons mistake will not taint my experience, I'll just be checking out the caps on my reservoirs before I leave next time. read more

I found out the long and hard way - They are not honest people!! Two things before I start my review to note: 1. That I have recorded audio of what I am about to tell you about my experience, and 2. I feel a certain kinda way to even have to write this review of Precision Tune Auto Care - El Cajon (PTAC-E) because I have been a customer of theirs since approximately 2007. In the past, I had dealt mostly with either Karim (Ken) or his sons (Manny, Frank). This time, it was a head mechanic - Chris - is who I was introduced to. There have been sometimes when I felt less than stellar service and have been able to "work things out" however this time around the level of service has been beyond anything I have experienced, and I am frustrated to no end. This review will be a bit lengthy to explain my situation and so you know to think twice before having your vehicle serviced there - even if you have been a long-standing customer, like me. As the saying goes - If I could give them less than 1 star or a minus star review - I would! Nov 28th 2018 I started experiencing car issues with shifting or perhaps staying in gear where the accelerator was intermittent not moving the vehicle. I have AAA so, I immediately called them to have a flatbed tow me to PTAC-E. When I take my car in, I always note (by taking a picture) the mileage of my odometer (or I write it down). The first person who checked my vehicle came back and I was told that "nothing" was wrong with my car. I then stated that they needed to actual drive my car around the block or something because I know my car. 1/2 hour later I was told right off the bat it was my transmission. Not knowing much, and having taken my vehicle there over a decade, I initially believed them. I was given a quote over four thousand dollars. I did not like that number, but my thought was "it is what it is" and said okay. I was told I absolutely needed to leave me car there because they needed to order a new and warrantied transmission. First it was from Michigan which would take quite a while (a week or more) and then from some other source they had. I felt I had no choice at this point, so I left my car. At this visit, I also mentioned to Karim that immediately following the new computer system they put in my vehicle months ago, I started having issues with my door ajar light coming on which triggered my alarm (when my car was locked/parked, etc) and that the light came on randomly even while driving. I did not have this issue prior to the entirely new computer system being put in my car by them. I thought it was best to wait till my next oil change to speak to them. Karim stated they would check it out and fix it. A little while later I was given a ride home by Karim in which he was generous to do it and we again talked about my car being fixed and I reiterated that the door ajar needed to be looked at as well. To note I was also getting an oil change as well. I came home and rented myself a rental car (I am a travel agent, so it was fast). A 2018 Ford Escape. Same make/model as my own vehicle. Because of the work I do, I needed a small SUV/truck to haul my things. I have discussed this fact with Karim and others at PTAC many times. I returned a few hours later with my rental to unload my truck of my work things. I hate living half out my truck, half out of a rental and just being displaced. Again, "it is what it is" so I did it. I was told I would have a call in a few hours to let me know what the time line would be on getting my car back. That call did not come for days. I reframed from being pissed and let it go if that meant I was getting my vehicle fixed. When I finally went to pick up my car on December 3rd (I turned in my rental and had enterprise drop me off). I pulled up and turned on my audio recorder. I was told my car was fixed and everything was ok. I was told I had a new transmission, and everything checked out and I had a 3-year warranty on it. They told me they checked the computer system about my door ajar light and that the computer system had nothing to do with it. That it was another computerized part and that was hundreds of dollars to fix. I expressed my doubt to them that it was not the totally new computer system that they installed because the issue only came about right after they installed it. How one computer component in a car has nothing to do with the entire computer system being pulled out and a totally new computer system to run the entire car has nothing to do with one another is a mystery to me. This is where I really began to doubt them, but I literally had no choice at this point. I took possession of my car and I was planning to head to Shell and fill my tank but first wanted to stop off at Hobby Lobby in La Mesa. I am one of those people who always back into a parking space - which is what I attempted to do (5 minutes and less than 1 mile away from PTAC-E) at the Hobby Lobby (La Mesa) only to discover that my car would not back up. read more

I purchased a Groupon and was under the impression per the Groupon that I was paying a certain price. Come to find out when I get to the shop I'm quoted an entirely different price per the Groupon and was told they (Precision Tune Auto) have nothing to do with Groupon per the gal behind the counter and the mechanic (Luis?). I mentioned to them both that in order for me to come to the "fine print" as they pointed out (that explained everything in more detail) it would involve me buying the Groupon first and then printing out the coupon. Once you redeem said Groupon that's a wrap.... I mentioned to the mechanic that the Groupon did not give specifics about the extra charges/prices. (which I didn't have a problem with). He looked at me and repeated (in a tone) "we have nothing do with Groupon." I told him that the Groupon was misleading because the "fine print details" should have been mentioned on the Groupon and if I would have known their price, I would have gone somewhere closer to my house. I knew right away I wasn't dealing with the owner because of the mechanics attitude towards the situation. He shrugged his shoulders and said there nothing we can do about it take it up with Groupon. As much as I was impressed by my last visit and customer service, today (01/20/2022) I was equally disappointed in the rudeness of staff. Won't be returning...thanks Luis or whatever your name is. Could have handled the situation better!!!!! BTW, I understand the rules of Groupon, but also don't agree they should get the full blame....businesses should know what is printed on the Groupons related to their business....so customers don't receive any surprises. Update: My check engine light came on. I put the meter on and found that I needed to change my spark plugs and an ignition coil. I watched a YouTube video. It seemed an easy repair and would be cheaper to buy tools and parts and do it myself. Well to make a very long story short, I did the repair and my car was acting as if I never touched it. I panicked. I decided to take it to Precision. They gave me an estimate. Another long story short When It was time to pay the bill it was not as high as the estimate. Let's just say it was a lesson learned. I skipped a step that I thought I did. I recommend this shop for thier friendly service. I had gotten my breaks all replaced in Arizona a few weeks ago and started hearing grinding while driving once I got back to San Diego. I found Precision on google and it was close to my house with great reviews. I needed them to check my car to see what was going on and they were nothing short of absolutely amazing. The way they took care of my son and I was just the guardian angels I needed. They found out the breaks had the wrong lubricant on them and made sure all four of them were fixed to insure the safety of my family. However, I,ve recently gone there and the were very rude,and they were not honest when they check the car. She just wants you to sign the report without a review. One of them, i was told That I have tire problems and needs a new tire. I was shocked because they are new tires. My experience today at this establishment was perplexing. It was evident that they hold customer service to a high standard, but the execution was concerning. It was a busy day and some moments were a lot more busy than others, so no issue with the wait. The problem was the lack of organization when checking customers in and out. The outspoken clients were the ones getting helped in and out. When my vehicle was finished, I was asked to wait for my name to be called. Which I did, but I watched clients come in and out while my paperwork sat on the desk and it wasn't until I spoke out that I was helped. As I was getting checked out I was made aware that my vehicle was low on fluids, and I had the option to have them topped off, but the message wasn't relayed to me until the service was complete. Other than this the people were helpful and welcoming. I have one more service to have done at this establishment in the future, I am hoping it was an off day. read more

Car registration time....yea paid up then boo realized I had to get a smog check for the first time since living in Ca. Called my car guy and he wanted $60. Checked on yelp and called a few places listed. Got it down to $40 and figured that was the best I could do. Them my friend told me about this place! Called and spoke to the office gal and she said with a penny saver it would be $28 instead is the normal $46 including the certificate for DMV. Sure enough coupon book has the ad. Went and took my car in. 30 minutes later and only $28 my car passed the check. Additionally I ran an errand an they called my cell to tell me it was done. Got my car and the check engine light immediately came on. Wow 5 guys descended on my car at once. Without even getting out they cleared the light after checking and told me to come back if I had any problems. Love this place! read more
