I went in for an oil change and a maintenance check on Monday around noon which was complete in short order. My car needed brakes, a tire rotation and a several other things. The manager, Shawn M. told me if I could bring it in on Tues at 8am that he would have everything needed to do all of the work. I brought it in on Tues at 8am and the work was completed by 12:30pm. The car drove well and sounded great afterwards. No upselling of any kind occurred which I always appreciate. I continue to come back to this particular location because of the honesty, integrity and quality work done. This place deserves 5+ stars and I will continue to come here in the future. read more

I bought the Groupon for this location to get a oil change. I ended up canceling it immediately. The man was not at the front desk, so my husband went to the side to look for someone to check in with. The guy literally speeds into the shop almost hitting him while honking at my husband, as if he were in the wrong. He was inside for a while and no one was there so he looked around as anyone would do. He didn't apologize instead he was even ruder saying he needs to see the Groupon or we won't be able to get anything done, he said the oil change would be take 45 mins and we have to wait in the cold! I had a very routine oil change done here; three days before a 200+ miles trip to Pittsburgh. There was no driving of this car in between the oil change and the trip. One third of the way to Pittsburgh, when I hit 70mph - I heard a blood curdling banging from underneath the car. I pulled over and saw something flapping underneath. This being Friday afternoon - I could not find an open garage nearby. Knowing at this point our lives were not in danger, I drove with blinkers on, and at 30mph, 7 miles to the nearest town for, with the constant banging and dragging underneath. In the town I bought zip ties, and tried to secure what I now know is a splash shield. Unfortunately - it popped off quite soon. So - on to the next town in another 5 miles. There I was more lucky with very strong duct tape. Understand that with access only to the puny jack in my trunk - I could only do so much. Then - on to Pittsburgh for another 150miles, with blinkers on all the way, and speed of 45mph. So instead of an under 4hr trip - this took around just under 7. Of course, I had to take care of this in a more secure fashion - as I needed to get from Pittsburgh back to Maryland. So next morning at 7am - on to a 5-star auto shop in Pittsburgh which we have used before. They took the shield off, said it is damaged beyond repair and reuse - indeed, it was all banged up, ridden with holes. They confirmed that there was no doubt putting the car together after the oil change was the culprit. So, I was able to drive home without the splash guard, and on Monday I call Precision Tune. Of course, they did not sound happy, but said something to the effect "stop by, we will take care of it". So, I did the next morning. Well, this is where my one-star review comes from. After all - anybody can make a mistake, especially if you are working with your hands. It is how you address it that matters. They put the car on the lift and call me in to look underneath. They tried to convince me that oil change had nothing to do with the problem. I pointed out that it would be an incredible coincidence to have this happen within three days; and the splash shield is obviously affected by how you put things together. Then they offer me to put the destroyed shield back on the car as a way to fix this! I politely disagree. All of a sudden they start raising their voices, accusing me of trying to get their money. In an aggressive tone I was told that I was making a scene, and had to leave immediately. The very notion that a sixty-year-old me was the aggressor, in someone else's garage, surrounded by a bunch of young guys with tire irons - is beyond laughable. It is because of their behavior AFTER The fact - I recommend to stay away. And also - I got quotes around town for replacing the shield, and will be out $350. UPDATE: do you see the "response from the owner" to my initial review, with all those soothing words, and the suggestion for me to reach out to Darryll, the Area Rep, for help sorting out this issue? Ah yes precision auto care. Horrible customer service. I called ahead to check if there were any special drop off policies (the rep I spoke to didn't mention any and just said drop of your car for an oil change and pick it up. Simple enough?) So i head to this lovely oil changing establishment to drop of my car and spoke to the manager Sean, (or somebody posing as sean) to request assistance on how to redeem a groupon during Covid - 19, because I saw the open sign but the door was locked. Ok the door is locked, maybe the receptionist went to lunch? (Me being a kindhearted noob) I approached the nearest person (keeping a safe distance) I saw and employee who appeared to be working for the auto shop stepping into a damaged vehicle and then I met Sean or Jared(who cares?), the manager on duty. I asked sean (or jared) how do I drop off my car because the door is locked. Sean (or jared) responded asking me if I read the sign on the front door. No I didn't because the rep I spoke with before over the phone didn't mention any special drop-off policies and the only sign I saw was clearly an open sign on the door I didn't assume the company was practicing a no contact policy for any mechanical work. Sean (or jared) the manager was working on a car but wasn't wearing a mask and stated by asking him for assistance , I am putting his staff and himself at risk by not reading the sign. Dear sean (or jared), isn't you not wearing a mask putting your staff and yourself more at jeopardy? And stated he wasn't in uniform so why am I asking him questions (I should know the uniforms of all staff members, even though I've never been here before). So I end up driving off, but call back to speak to someone regarding my awful experience and the rep I spoke to was more polite than the manager, but because I was upset the rep transferred me to the manager, which I didn't know was Sean (or jared). Sean decided to tell me that if I can't read a sign, that's my fault and hung up on me. He did say good day sir though! I guess as an African American male, I should stay clear of some auto shops. This is clearly one of them. I decided to bite the bullet and open the wallet to head to the lube center which is quicker but more expensive, I needed an oil change. Key word "needed". To sum up my experience a pretty rude manager, polite but arcane associates ruined a simple oil change? Jiffy Lube or the Lube center has better customer service for oil changes but is pricier Do not recommend, go elsewhere unless you like being told to "READ THE SIGN" despite calling ahead and not being informed of any special dropoff policies. Please do not have any work done at this location. Their website says they change oil like a "pit crew". They must have the worst pit crew on the planet because they indicated it would take 2 hours. Their Groupon instructions suggest making an appointment. When you call for an appointment, they say that we only work on a first come first serve basis. Further, I brought my printed Groupon deal and provided them with it. In spite of the Groupon instructions which clearly state to print out the coupon, these guys demand that you have the coupon on your phone. So, in short, you cannot believe anything they say. I will break my experience down and rate accordingly because, though the overall experience was good, there was a part of the experience that was not good. Front Desk Customer Service (Paul)/5 stars - Nice demeanor for early morning service. Answered customer questions thoroughly and professionally. Workmanship and Service/5 stars - Oil change was timely and completed in less than an hour. The technician who worked on my car identified issues that even another Precision Tune Auto Care did not identify. Management (Shawn)/1 star - First impression (and lasting impression) is that this is a very rude and nasty individual. Perhaps this person is different as the day goes on or was having a bad morning. Regardless of the circumstances, service from an establishment should not come at the cost of a customer receiving snide remarks from the manager and being treated rudely. read more

Changed my mind and decided not to do it and was told by the guy to "Get the F out" among other things. We have been going here for three years. We have never been disappointed. Sean is a or better yet THE mechanic there who routinely goes above and beyond. He had actually called us and told us he could get the job done faster if we wished - but that he could price shop parts and maybe help to reduce the cost of the repair if we weren't in a crunch for time. I took my car into Precision Tune Auto Care on Monday for an oil change because we got a great deal on Groupon. I was told I need to replace the struts and it would of course be very expensive to fix. Well I called around to a couple places to see when I could get estimates. Took it into Liberty Station on Quince Orchard and Master-Tech on Snouffer School Rd and both places said there is absolutely nothing wrong with my car. I'm a little surprised at the reviews before me. Fortunately I didn't check Yelp before going. When I first got there I had the Groupon for the oil change and the tire rotation. My car's been acting up for a little while, the steering hasn't been smooth and I've been burning oil more than normal. During my oil change I asked what they could do about that. The district manager was running the shop that day and he personally went in the back to take a look at my car. A couple minutes later he came back to the lobby and explained I had a vital bolt missing from my rack and pinion. He ordered me a new one and fixed everything for me very quickly. He also managed to get me a new belt for my ultenator, which I had been needing for some time. Everything was quick and smooth, they discussed the prices with me upfront, took me into the shop to show me parts when I had questions, and were overall incredibly polite and helpful. Not to mention the lobby has water bottles in a fridge and animal planet on tv, which is far nicer than the news or tv dramas. I thought they did a really great job. read more

The Precision Tune folks have been servicing mine and my wife's cars for several years now. We live down the street and it's convenient to walk back home once we've taken the car into the shop. That being said, the service is quick and no-nonsense. Sean is incredibly helpful and honest and doesn't belabor the point. No one tries to upsell you on a product or provide a service that you don't need. They are consultative, just letting you know what your car needs (or could use) and allowing you to make the choice. Prices are absolutely reasonable and you can usually find a coupon for oil changes. We're fortunate to have such a good shop so close by. read more

I bought a Groupon for a headlight restoration. I wasn't able to find anything under $80 in my area but this Groupon only cost me $30! The gentleman told me it would be 45 minutes and it ended up being an hour. I didn't mind as my headlights were pretty horrible (pictured) and I had extra time. Fast service with professional people, and they have a clean, cozy waiting room with free tea & coffee, television going and recent magazines ready to enjoy while your vehicle is being worked on. They also have great price discounts available through Groupon, which is where I paid $25 for the $85 value service my Ford Expedition is getting right now. Was not impressed with this place. First of all it is a hole in the wall with an office space not bigger than most peoples bathrooms. Secondly, it was closed because of COVID and there is nowhere to really sit outside. I ended up having to walk to the plaza next door to find somewhere to sit while they took 45 minutes to change my oil. When I got back they guy at the desk asked me why I didn't get it done at the dealership, which really in my opinion was NONE of his business. My boyfriend went in today to redeem a groupon deal for a Synthetic Premium Oil Change Package and the people there were not only rude but told him that oil changes were only available in the morning because they had "other things to do"and they tried to charge him an additional $30 for the oil change on top of the $49.99 groupon which made the groupon useless as it would have just been full price. They seem to only do things when they're convenient to them. By all means go here, just don't purchase the groupon or you'll get ripped off. read more

I went there yesterday to get their signature confirming that I had repaired a defective license plate light (I was issued a warning by a MD trooper b/c the lights were not working). The guy who spoke to me was surly, rude, arrogant and unhelpful. He acted as if I was imposing on him. I came here for an oil change with a Groupon. Oil change was fine, but the shop apparently switched my headlights from Auto to Off, which resulted in me driving home in the dark for 20 minutes without my lights on. I didn't notice until I pulled into my driveway that my lights weren't on. This might seem like a small thing, but it's dangerous and the shop should be more careful. My Groupon also came with free wipers, but they said the wipers on my car were better than the ones they would give me, and they won't give you the wipers unless they install them themselves, so I didn't get the wipers. read more

Shawn, Paul and the guys here are awesome! They are trustworthy and provide quality service. I have been taking my car and truck here for years and they always do a great job. Managers have come and gone but Shawn has always been there and taken care of my family and I. He is reliable and does a great job. Having safe vehicles to drive our precious little ones is top priority. I also like that they are straight with me. They don't push unnecessary repairs and with my truck approaching 200k, they provide great insight to what I need vs. what I don't need or can wait on. I went to get a steering wheel replaced and they messed up my alignment. I took it twice and they did nothing but charge me extra. I was told it was fine but the alignment was off. I took my Kia Sorento to Precision Tune on January 4, 2013 for an oil change prior to moving to Los Angeles, CA. My husband and I drove my Kia to California and starting hearing an odd sound followed by the check engine light once we arrived in Los Angeles. We immediately stopped at a roadside repair shop and asked them to look at our car on January 19th. They were about to close but offered to test the car and advise the diagnosis code. The code was a CVVT issue; my husband and I decided to leave the car repair shop after having been there less than five minutes and took the car directly to Kia. Kia checked the oil level and realized it was so low that it didn't register on the dip stick. They also observed oil spilled on top of the transmission area to the drivers side of the undercarriage all the way to the back bumper; they took pictures of the same. They then identified the root cause which was a missing oil filter cap o-ring. This missing seal caused a myriad of issues; Kia had to replace the OCV valve, the CVVT assembly and the bank #1 exhaust cam as well as related gaskets and seals in addition to changing the oil. As a result, we were without my car for a week and a half. The repairs totaled $2,881.75. Similarly, Kia stated it was vital that we take the car to have the engine and undercarriage steam cleaned; this cost another $80. We contacted Precision Tune as soon as we were made aware of the missing seal. We sent them pictures and all of the information obtained from Kia; we also requested they contact our Kia representative, Joe Rodriguez, and send one of their local Los Angeles managers to see the car. They did not speak with Joe, nor did they send someone so they could make an informed decision. We received an email from John Wiegand, the Precision Tune Vice President, stating they were not responsible, but that out of sympathy they would give us a $300 store credit. Obviously, the Precision Tune $300 credit wasn't helpful in the least as it didn't begin to cover our almost $3,000 bill. Precision Tune's contention was that had the seal been missing we would have been aware of the issue sooner via a smell and/or smoke. We forwarded this to Kia and received the following response - "In response to your questions, why no smell or smoke - the oil filter is located on the top of the engine; the oil spilled and went to the under carriage on the driver's side (left). Everywhere the oil spilled there is no exhaust as the exhaust pipes run under car on the passenger (right) side. The exhaust on the right side was dry with no oil spilled; therefore it wouldn't burn oil and wouldn't smell or smoke." Precision Tune also contended we should have been alerted by a low oil warning. This was Kia's response. "The oil warning light on the dash is not for low oil level or oil maintenance, but is for the oil pressure inside the engine and with your engine the oil level can be very low with very little oil in the oil pan and it can still be enough for the oil to be picked up in the lower engine and circulated throughout so the oil pressure is ok. When you came in the low oil level was at the point where it was not protecting the mechanical internal parts of the engine and caused a mechanical problem which engaged the check engine light. In your case your oil pressure was ok but the engine did not have enough oil to protect the internal engine parts." This additional information was supplied to Precision Tune to no avail; this is akin to the pictures we provided which we were told weren't taken into consideration when they made their decision that Precision Tune wasn't liable. I am extremely dissatisfied with Precision Tune's service to my car and their handling of my complaint. I understand mistakes happen; however good customer service can easily remedy the issue. Unfortunately, that was not our experience in the least. I would encourage anyone considering Precision Tune for their car repair needs to find another option. read more
