They claim to be ethical, but wasting a customer's time and lying to them doesn't seem very ethical to me. I left a tire at the shop for four days to be repaired and they didn't give me any response. I went to the tire shop and they made me wait two hours because they said they were working on it. I feel offended by the time they may wasted, by their lies and by making me wait, and by not giving me a solution to the problem and finally telling me that it couldn't be done. We have been taking our Commercial fleet of vehicles and personal vehicles to Rice Tires for over 8 years. In the past I have always dealt with Alex, but after my experience today with Jim and dealing with his unbelievably aggressive, rude, and extremely unprofessional behavior; Rice Tires has lost our business for good. I am still in shock that someone with such ill behavior towards a client ( in front of what seemed to be new hires) could lead with such poor behavior as a Manager. As a business owner, I would be outraged to see an employee of ours (especially a Manager) behave how he did today. I took a personal car for an oil change and to have the brakes checked this morning. I received a call from a service rep around noon letting me know that the oil change was completed and he explained the scope of work for the brake job. I asked to have a quote emailed over to me. Once I received the quote, I called back and spoke to a young lady to let her know that I would not be moving forward with the brake job at this time, and let her know that I would arrive within the hour to pick up my car and she confirmed that it was okay. After arriving 1.5 hours later to pick up the car, I was rudely told by Jim that my car was not ready and that I had to wait for it to get assembled again because I had not responded to the email quote letting them know that I wouldn't be moving forward with the brake job. I then explained to Jim that I had actually called in and spoke to a young lady and she had told me it would be ready over an hour ago. Clearly there was a lack of communication on their end and this message had not gotten to Jim or the Service Dept. I asked Jim how long it would take for them to put the car together and he told me he didn't know, that he was busy and his guys were on break and that I "just had to wait". A decent apology for wasting my time or acknowledgment of their mistake would have been the proper way to handle the situation, but instead I got Jim's nasty attitude. When I told Jim that I needed him to provide a time frame because I had someone waiting on me outside, he got angry (to the point that his face turned red) started speaking to me in an extremely aggressive manner and raised his voice at me telling me he didn't know what I wanted him to do, that they were busy, that he couldn't give me a direct answer other than I needed to wait at least 30 minutes because that's what it was and there was nothing he could do. His tone, mannerisms towards me, attitude, and lack of respect were super low class to say the least. read more

Ok. This has been on my mind for a long time. I told myself that for every one complaint I make, I will make sure that good service gets recognized too. When the time came to buy tires for my mum's car. I chose Rice tires and here is why? My mum had told me how when she needed the tire pressure checked ( for the previous set of tires) she would just show up at Rice Tire ( it's across the street from her) & someone would check the tire pressure and do the needful without a charge and with a smile. To me this meant a lot, to have a business that treat it's neighborhood with a warm heart. They also had a good deal when compared to the other tire companies. read more

Rice Tires review My husband had the tires on his dump truck done here before with no problem. However, a few months ago he had new tires put on and while carrying a load on the highway he noticed his tire felt weird. When he pulled over he noticed one of his tires was loose because the lug nuts weren't secured properly! So he almost had a tire fall off of his 70,000 ton dump truck while driving 60mps down the highway! When he called Rice to inform them of this gross oversight he was told someone would call him back- and to this date NO ONE has called regarding this matter!! A very serious accident could have occurred due to their negligence and no one felt the need to call him back?!? I think it's obvious to say he will NEVER let Rice Tires touch ANY vehicle we own EVER AGAIN!! Very disappointed! read more

If you want your oil change done without any "dealership drama", this is the place to go! Even with my '04 Civic, they knew about changing the washer with for the oil drain (I had brought my own as we'd had to buy another oil pan years ago.). And knew to clean where the Honda engineers placed the oil filter. The crew in this shop have helped us take good care of our Civic with Tire's, preventative maintenance and oil change with helpful suggestions with no hard sells or "laundry list". Alex is a very polite, knowledgeable and helpful young man. And the Manager also talked with me about my Civic and any future concerns. No B.S. and no drama! Isn't that how it's supposed to be? Oh, and y'all need to have Alex in the picture, please? He's a good man, and I think he'd make a good manager for you. read more

After getting local quotes all around town, some quoting lower price but either not in stock or plus mounting and balancing (which made the price much higher) I got out the door for $76.52 for an All-season 45,000 mile tread wear warranty tire mounted and balancd. I was in and out in 30 minutes. Great friendly, professional and fast. Couldn't be a better place to go. read more

I waited for a while to post my review. Being good once is not good enough for me. To earn 5 stars, a service must be consistently great. After using Rice tires to buy new tires, new battery, to flush brake and transmission oil, and to diagnose an oil leak, Rice has each and every time risen to the occasion of providing a great service. Not once did I pay more, waited too long, or felt that I was being taken advantage of. Jim and Alex have been consistently honest, friendly, and ever so competent in their diagnosis. Rice Tires is 40 minutes away from my home but worth every visit. Recommend them highly. Everyone should have a car repair shop they can rely upon knowing their prices and service are excellent. This place is great!! Over the last couple years, I've come in for new tires, oil changes, brake replacements, and shock replacements. Based on my experiences, I genuinely feel like these guys do not try to take advantage of you like those big name companies that come up with a laundry list of things that "must be fixed" for your car to operate. Rice Tire understands that everyone is just trying to get by and and trying to keep their car running smoothly on a budget. I love that Rice Tire is a small local chain that started in Maryland. Bringing my car here for service feels like I'm leaving my kid to hang out with my extended family! Alex, at the front desk, is like that trustworthy cousin--he takes the time to explain the status of your vehicle and clearly communicates what is wrong and what needs to be fixed. Murph is like the grandfather, a little old school, but always kind. Jeff, the manager, is like the uncle that will always have your back. Together, they all make a great team. I'm sure everyone behind the scenes is cool too, but I've only interacted with the people in the front office. I will continue to bring all my vehicles here for as long as I live in this area. The personalized customer service is stellar!! Ray, the manager and his staff have been nothing but professional and honest. Our first experience was due to the replacement of a flat tire on my son's car, 1993 Mazda. it could not be patched based on the circumstances surrounding where the damage was. A shop in Damascus that has maintained both my car and my son's over the last couple of years, wanted to charge over $140.00 for one new tire indicating that it was a unique size and had to be special ordered? And an additional fee to special order it etc etc!! No thank you! We headed over to Paul's Used Tires and it was closed. As we were heading back deliberating where to head to next, we stopped by Rice Tires. It was meant to be! A quick determination from Ray and his employees and a brand new name reputable tire for less than $60 was all that was needed. As previously mentioned, my son's car is older and has a few issues but overall it's proven to be a tough little car for a college student andshared to his brother during the school year to drive to HS. In addition: The car had been stalling out and acting up in the past few months...rather expensive repairs were done. I was never given anything exacting about why my son's car was acting up and explanations were somewhat vague and ambiguous After taking my son's car to more than one mechanic from Rockville (owner of shop was annoyed and told me the alternator was fixed and not sure what else to do! After having it towed twice to his shop, he simply suggested to bring it in again and charge me another fee to inspect it!!!...I don't think so! A friend then referred me to "her people" in Germantown. So .we went from purchasing a new alternator, replacing a radiator cap and replacing a coolant sensor and a few more things! Again, neither mechanics could pinpoint the problem, other than refer to things happen to an older car...as a consumer and a person that does not know anything technical about cars, I am at the mercy of those that have the advantage...hoping they are honest! My primary concern is to ensure the safety and security of sons driving the car. I had not realized that Rice Tires handled Auto maintenance and repairs. A postcard reminding my son about an oil change prompted a visit back to Rice Tires. During the routine oil change, we spoke extensively evaluating the Mazda protégé. Ray was upfront, patient, and honest and was the first person to take his time offering thorough explanations in determining immediate issues with the car. Ray broke down a list of priorities that needed to be done eventually with the car. He did not try and sell me anything during this routine oil change. He gave me the opportunity "to see "exactly what he was talking about with the car and pointed out everything with his staff at hand. I never had been given this ample time before. In addition I had brought up a couple of concerns with my own vehicle, 2004 Honda Accord and he replied that if it indeed was the transmission - it would not be in my best interest to repair it but perhaps best to purchase another car...fully knowing that as a single parent, that's not always an option. He was simply being truthful. It was nice to finally meet someone who was nothing less than professional, forthcoming and honest. He truly cares about his customers and he is a proud family man as well. He stands by his word and the integrity of those that work for him tool. From here on in, it is Rice Tires in Gaithersburg!
