I was driving from Florida to Texas when my tire light suddenly came on. One of my tires had lost all its air, and I was only about 45 minutes from the hotel I'd booked as my overnight stop. While I was waiting on the tow truck, I googled tire shop and luckily found Fisher Tire & Service was super close. It was the first place I went in the morning. They inspected my tire and told me I'd definitely need a new one. Unfortunately, they didn't have my tire size in stock, so they sent me down the road to another shop. Walmart didn't have it either, and after calling multiple tire shops within a 5 mile radius of the area I was in, nobody had my size. I called Fisher back, and that's when everything turned around. They realized they had my tire in their warehouse, and the receptionist offered to go pick it up herself. I wouldn't venture to say she was enthusiastic about it but that level of customer service meant a lot considering I was stranded away from home. The older gentleman who installed my tire was a lifesaver. He was friendly, got everything taken care of quickly once the tire arrived, and had me back on the road. I don't think he realized I know a thing or two about my car when he started asking about the wheel lock. Better ask about me! Well... he can't, because I don't know not one damn body in Pensacola. This whole ordeal set me back several hours from what I'd planned that morning, but I'm thankful this shop was nearby. Maybe it was heavenly intervention that I picked a hotel close to Fisher to begin with. We dropped the bus off on January 7 and were told the repair would take only a few weeks. Instead, it took seven weeks, forcing us to cancel events and lose income. After getting the bus back, the engine failed approximately two months later. We returned it to Blue Angel Tire & Automotive, and the vehicle remained in their shop for most of May, which is one of the busiest seasons for our ice cream business. We were forced to cancel additional events and lost significant revenue. Communication throughout the process was frustrating. We frequently called for updates, and the responses we received often left us feeling that our concerns and the impact on our business were not being taken seriously. The delays continued throughout the second engine replacement. When the second engine failed after only about a week of operation, we were told a third engine might be necessary. At that point, we decided to have the vehicle towed to another mechanic. After inspecting the bus, the new mechanic identified several installation-related issues, completed the necessary repairs, and the vehicle has been operating reliably ever since. Overall, this engine replacement ended up costing us approximately $3,500 for the engine, $8,000 in labor, an additional $3,500 in repairs by another mechanic, and months of lost revenue from canceled events. It also put our reputation at risk with customers whose events we had to cancel. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend obtaining multiple estimates before choosing BATA for major engine repairs.
