I brought my car in to be serviced on 3/25 for a state inspection and oil change. Both seem to go ok although my car was there all day and I had to show up right at closing to retrieve it. No one called me or notified me it was ready. A week later my check engine light came on as well as my anti skid and VSC off lights. I took my car to a Haley Toyota dealership to look at it. They ran a diagnostic and found that the oil cap had been left off and the oil had soaked my drive belt and also damaged the drive belt and air fuel ratio sensor. Also despite passing the state inspection at Precision Auto, they said my brakes would not pass state inspection and the pads needed to be replaced. I called the Precision Tune location after the diagnostic was run and they refused to honor the warranty since Toyota diagnosed the car even though no work had been completed at that time. Toyota is willing to give a statement saying the damages were caused by your shop. And it is written on one of the attached invoices below. Precision Tune said I had an oil leak, but Toyota found no leak and only that the oil cap was left completely off. The oil cap that was left off in negligence alone cost me ~$600 in repairs including the original invoice from the Precision Auto Location. I have tried reaching out the original store twice as well as through the customer service. Wednesday 4/12, Darell from the corporate office called me and left me a message saying the DM would contact me, but I have heard nothing since. 4/19 I emailed the corporate customer service with receipts and have heard nothing. 4/20 I snail mailed them all the contents of the mail and have gotten no response... read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. I purchased a groupon for a needed oil change and received a classic bait and switch from site receptionist/supervisor/owner. First issue paid 29.99 for groupon, which they were advertising oil changes for $5 less on flashing sign out front of location. When I went in to drop off my car I asked how much extra for a tire rotation and was told that is $32.99 for them to check tire pressure and rotate locations, told them I would just take oil change. Left to get lunch and got a call from receptionist a few minutes later advising that my car needs an extra 1.9 liters of oil that are not included on groupon and their would be a upcharge of $19 and some change. I stated that I was not ok with this and to only provide me with the 5L of oil included with the groupon and I would top off myself, to which I was told will need to talk with supervisor. She called back and advised this could not be done, so I asked to have no work done and I would come talk with supervisor. Went back and supervisor explained cant leave partially full for liability, to which I explained I have oil to add on site in my trunk, to which he agreed to work with me. Another man then overruled him, saying they will not do this, to which I can only assume is the owner - so I retrieved my groupon/keys and left. Price gouging, bait and switch, with rude customer service to top it off - hats off to the supervisor big guy with shaved head who tried to do the right thing and get my business and a huge thumbs down to old dude with dark hair who wants to bleed customers for every dime. read more

Bought a Groupon for an oil change on my new (to me) car. I had just gotten license plates on it. Post oil change, I discovered a gash in the driver's seat- just like what a tool in a pocket would leave. I spoke to the manager, went in and showed him in person, and he acted like they would of course take care of it. After a week of no word, I called back (had to call back and leave messages 2x), and was told that they had reviewed the videos, and didn't think it was their fault. I was told I could contact company customer service for resolution, and got a similar (lack of) response. Terrible service - my mechanic found 2 oil pan leaks the next week, and a ripped seat. Very costly "groupon" for me. Terrible customer service- lack of responsiveness, lack of interest, and no taking responsibility for damage they clearly caused. I brought my car in for a full synthetic oil change, as soon as I handed over my keys they informed me that they would probably have to charge me more because my car required a special oil filter and an additional .7 of oil because my car takes 5.7 and they only include up to 5, I thought this was ridiculous as I know my car does not take a different oil filter since I have had several oil changes but I was fine with paying the extra for the .7 quarts. After getting my oil change done after about two days I noticed a giant puddle of oil in my driveway, I called the location who told me to bring it in, after looking at the car they stated that the plug in the oil pan had been stripped. I think this is ridiculous, a stupid mistake could have done serious damage to my car and honestly if they can't do an oil change I could never trust them to do any other work on my car. read more

They (corporate I assume) did contact me promptly to fix the issue, so I give them props for that but I think my response (I will post below) states my point well and the fact that I was not really TOP PRIORITY until I made the complaint on yelp is even worse. The guy that was supposed to come out and evaluate my car NEVER contacted me again so that just tells me my business was not important. If I was in his situation and maybe forgot to drop by or ran out of time I would, at the very least, have called the customer to tell the customer why I had not been by but that I would get by to evaluate the car in the next x amount of days or whatever so at least I, being the customer, would still feel the job would be done and was still a priority. As a small business owner I would have totally understood running out of time or forgetting b/c I have done it before. Most days I run around like a chicken with my head cut off but no communication, no update, no contact at all, after I tried to contact them two more times made me feel forgotten, which is unacceptable! They still offered me the deal but honesty how good of a job are they really going to do on my car once they get the money? They certainly did a F- job of trying to win me as a customer so I am pretty sure the actual job done would have not been to my liking, and besides I do not treat my customers this way and I would never do business with a company that did. I also see a few more reviews on here that they are overbooked and over sold so they are running behind on jobs. That would have also pissed me off, having an appt and then having it be double booked. The person who contacted me also said they were overwhelmed but that is not really OUR problem. If you cannot handle it or didn't have a back up plan for the extra business then the AD should not have been run. I had the same issue on a Groupon type thing but I added extra staff to cover the demand and I, AS THE OWNER, worked A LOT of unpaid hours but we made it work and it was timely. It was a lesson but I also had a back up plan for just this type of situation. Not sure this company thought this out well at all. Here is my email in response to them trying to offer me a deal/and special time to take care of me. Again I appreciate it but it's a little too little too late for me. While I appreciate you reaching out to me I have already been waiting on this deal to take place and frankly I am totally put off by your company and will not be doing business there at any point. I have already hired another company to perform the work who responded promptly to my situation and took care of me like I would take care of one of my customers. As a small business owner I work 24/7, I do not have time to wait on people to contact me, or continuously follow up with people when I have made numerous attempts to get an answer on work that I would be paying you for. I do understand being overwhelmed with a discount offer like this, as I have felt that pressure before when I have offered such "deals" on these discount sites but to be honest if you cannot handle it or you have no back up plan to handle the possible influx of people/services then do not offer it. I have purchased a few deals with companies that told me they were "overwhelmed" and either could not do the job or could not fit me in in a reasonable amount of time which for me is unacceptable and poor business practice. When my company offered a deal I was bombarded with people and felt very overwhelmed however I added classes and instructors to cover the demand. It was stressful and I worked a lot of unpaid hours but my point is no one was left out and customers gave us excellent reviews/came back to us for repeat business. Everyone was professionally serviced and in a timely manner and that is what I expect of any company I do business with. My review will stand as it is b/c it is the truth. I will edit it to say there was an offer made to fix the problem but as I stated it has already been taken care of due to lack of timely communication on your companies part. Stay away, far away from this place. I found a groupon for an oil change at this location. I waited in the lobby for over an hour with only one person in line in front of me. After my long wait I was told that my left axle was "busted" and leaking grease. I was told that if my left axle was broken, my right axle would break soon and was encouraged to replace both. This repair was estimated at over $500. I was told that I should replace my spark plugs. I was told that my oil pan was broken and was leaking oil. All together these repairs would cost over $1000 I told them I did not have the money for any such repairs. I immediately went to a local mechanic whom my family has known and trusted for years. He raised my car up, walked under it with me, and told me how each successive repair that they recommended was hogwash. How I needed none of it. None. Went in for their cheap oil change. Got a call that I needed my back break light changed and my headlights cleaned. That would cost 50 bucks. Declined; got my car back. And no back break light needed at all! They were dishonest and I will not be returning. Also DET will clean your headlights like some of the most expensive cleaners. My wife took our 2010 Mazda CX9 to Precision Tune Auto Care for an oil change and the front breaks replaced. I am always reluctant to send my wife in to complete a job that has traditionally been left up to the man to perform. I was raised by a father who was an over the road trucker and at the age of eight I started greasing trucks and successively turning wrench as a trade before coming an office geek. To me being a mechanic is like speaking a different language and if you don't know the language then you are probably going to pay "gringo "pricing. Enough said. So needless to say when my beautiful bride came home with an estimate adding two additional items and several hundred more dollars I was concerned. As my wife conceded that it might be best for me to take over I picked up the phone and called. Three Rings later I was on the phone with auto staff. I quickly explained how I wanted to speak with the tech who worked on my car so that I could hear his or her explanation. I was put in touch with Doug the manager. After a few minutes of grilling I realized that it sounded like he knew what he was talking about but I still wanted to get a second opinion. Doug was respectful and stated that if I wanted to come down he would be happy to show me. He reminded me of our Monday April 18, 2016 appointment to get the remaining work items completed so I agreed to see him there. On Monday morning I went to Precision Tune and Auto Care and met with Doug and could not be any happier. I am so thankful for Doug's willingness to be patience and helpful in showing needed repairs. As Doug walked me around the vehicle I felt with some trepidation that I needed to come clean with him about a couple things. 1. That I felt bad for not trusting him and how thankful that he was looking out for my family and 2. That Richmond Pot holes and my car do not mix. I hope so we can start rebuilding our roads but until then go to Precision Tune Auto Care when you need an honest opinion. So I took my car to precision tune auto care because I had a Groupon for a four wheel alignment. I decided to go ahead and get a inspection while I was there, well the man called me back and told me that my car needed a front control arm and both pads and rotors for my rear tires. He then begin to tell me that after I replace the front control arm I would need another alignment. Which didn't make sense because why would you do an alignment before the work so I question him about that. Then I had my friend who is a mechanic call up there and ask what I was wrong and called him out on the control arm and we had just checked the brakes when I got tires 11 days ago and they were not bad. Also your rotors are not included in the inspection process. So he hung up and asked me what I wanted to do and I told him that we would just take it somewhere else to get it checked again, and as he was calling Andrew back Andrew stated oh I was just about to call you and let you know that it's not the front control arm it's actually a wheel bearing so we then again questioned him why he thought the control arm needed replacing then instead of just a wheel bearing. So I took it to fire stone to have them look it over and tell me exactly what was needed and they said nothing that it would pass inspection just as it is and that I did need to go ahead and get my rear brakes changed soon but they were not bad enough to fail inspection. I highly recommend doing your research on this company and read the reviews because they are trying to fraud people out of their money especially during these hard times!!! read more

Had a cracked windshield and began calling around for prices. Precision was not the cheapest I found, but too cheap always scares me. They had a Groupon for $100 off of a windshield replacement. We dropped the car off one evening and picked it up the next. The windshield looks great and the car had no signs of any debris being left from the install. Very pleased! Came in for windshield wipers and air in my tires, was told it would be 45 minutes but after and hour and 1/2 I was still waiting. That's a 5-10 min job tops! Just think that's bad business to give someone a time frame, go way over and not give me an update till I stand at the desk to ask. Then I'm told it will take longer. I brought a govt vehicle so maybe they don't care cuz they know how much they can charge me. If you are looking for a quick oil change, it would be best to go else where. It took an hour thirty to change the oil my car. Additionally the oil filter gasket was leaking, their fault they pinched it when changing the oil. I received no updates and no one even told me until checkout. Then they said I needed to get a car wash because oil was in the undercarriage. read more

I am so impressed by the service at Precision Tune on Broad. My car broke down and it has been a headache to fix. Doug has been so helpful in finding parts that weren't even made anymore. He checked several junkyards for me and ended up finding the parts. He even offered to come to my home to look at the problem after he fixed it. We knew these new parts were a crapshoot but I really feel like they truly value my business and are doing everything in their power to help me. Doug also offered to give me a refund if we were unable to get the problem resolved and I didn't even have to ask. The waiting area is nice too. Cable TV, Keurig (always stocked with k cups), a good array of magazines and a charging station for your electronics. Edited to add: they quoted me $750 for the fix to which I agreed and only ended up charging me $630. Honest pricing goes a long way in my book! read more

Wish I can give negative stars to this place. Believe me please stay off this place. It is a big rip off center. Last year I took my prius after a auto accident.. for a strut replacement and tire replacement... they charged me for new but put in old parts.. and I ended up going to another mechanic and getting it replaced again. I lost $1100 in this process. They had charged me $1100 to put in old parts.. saying it is new and another mechanic did it all over again right for $400. When I went back to complain about it.. all I was given was a shrug saying I should have come to them first before going to the other mechanic when I still had issues with the struts. Today I went for a windshield chip fix using a groupon. Wanted to see if it is still the same old rip off place as I heard somewhere the management had changed.. but no it is still the same place. They said they cant fix the chip and basically need a replacement of the entire windshield.. so I drove down the road to another auto repair shop and they had it fixed in no time. Never again! Be sure to carefully review your final bill. I went in to this place to have an oil change. I inquired about the cost and was quoted $39.00 for a package that included oil, filter, top off fluids, etc. When it came time to pay, they presented me with a bill for $56.00. As it turns out, they wanted to charge me an extra $15.00 for a premium filter that they say my car required. This was never mentioned to me prior to having the work done. The package I bought included a filter. Bait and switch. I refused to pay for it. It's not that $15.00 is going to break me, but I don't like hidden fees and shady business practices. The manager then tried to blame me by saying they told me the last time I was there that my car required a special filter. That was over 5000 miles and many months ago. In addition, when I was inquiring about the price they told me that the oil change would be good for 5000 miles, but put a sticker on my window indicating that I need to return for an oil change in 3000 miles. Also, the package I purchased included topping off all fluids in my car, which I noticed later had never been done. Not only that but the manager was very rude and short with me, like it was my fault. Everything was eventually rectified, but only because I challenged it and refused to pay the hidden fees. I'll never do business with them again. Addendum: This is the second time I've written this review. Evidently Yelp felt that, because it was my first review, it did not warrant recommendation. Nonsense! My experience with this company was terrible, and people need to know when there are shady business practices involved. That is the purpose of Yelp. Just recently started a new job as a driver and have been putting about 600 miles a week on my car. Being an older car (2002), problems have started to accumulate. Precision has helped me out immensely. My work schedule conflicts with their hours but they still manage to find time to help me with my laundry list of car issues. They also try and save me as much money as possible. On my most recent visit, they discovered that a part they thought needed replacing didn't actually need replacing. I used Precision exclusively in California. I had high hopes for the biz here. They fixed my truck, after a mixup between "ready for pick up", me returning the rental car, and "need to take it for a test drive". Testdrive revealed a bad hose that was supposed to have been replaced. Their mechanic gave us a ride home. Thanks. 1 day later, got the truck back, runs good. I discovered that even though they claim to be a tire shop, they know nothing about high end, ten ply tires and the requirement for a higher than average pressure requirement. They deflated my tires to match their opinion, causing rapid wear. Stick with oil changes guys. read more

I took a 1999 Ford Explorer in for a coolant leak and Va State inspection. I got the run around at Midas for State Inspection nit picking the vehicle to death. Precision Tune did a thorough an fair Inspection, then addressed the problems. Mellisa the Store Manager located all the necessary parts and informed me the prices, which were very fair. This was all done the same day. Then we had an issue with the coolant leak. They suspected it was the water pump, and it ended up being the engine water pump and thermostat housing was cracked. The technician and myself had a disagreement on the coolant reservoir purpose and level. Melissa addressed the issue and it was resolved very professionally by her. I came here for an alignment and inspection. The customer service was awful and the people were rude. My alignment was not even in spec... So i finally got around to fixing the car today, and not only are multiple of the reasons my car failed inspection completely bogus, there are things missing from my car. and they aren't things that that just come off... This establishment installed rear break pads on my car. I took the car to the dealership for my free state inspection and failed due to the fact that precision had installed BOTH sides backwards. Completely unsafe!!!! They did reimbursed me for the dealership repairs after a lengthy discussion and showing them the form from the dealership in regards to the issue. I came back to Precision for a motor mount replacement because they initially gave me a good quote(This was after break install and before inspection) they call me and tell me that I actually need two replaced and quoted me for the work. They wanted to charge me $425 for the lower mount (that was not including the labor and tax)!! After checking several other shop prices and disputing it, they panicked and said they "accidentally" added an additional $210 for the cost of freight to order the part! What?!? The dealership is less than half the price so I went with them instead. Very disappointing. Do NOT recommend! read more

I've come to Precision Tune Auto Care in Richmond a few times. The first few times the service and work were top notch. I felt I really found doctor for my car and truck. However recently I went in for an inspection. I dropped my car off and said I would pick it up later. Mid-day I received a phone call saying my car would be rejected on inspection unless my lights were fixed and wipers replaced. How could this be? I had just had my windshield and WIPERBLADES done literally 2 weeks prior. How could a place I was starting to love turn into ever other place that nickels and dimes customers? I told the person working the wiper blades were new, yet the said it didn't meet inspection, but they could "offer" me a combo rate to replace both. I took my car to another mechanic out of town who quickly approved the inspection and I was on my way. sadly disappointed and furious about the potential fraud/ethics issues.
