I have been using Allen Tire for a couple decades. I have used 3 different locations in Richmond and Midlothian. Always really nice folks at all the stores, honest people, great about scheduling and getting you in and out the door, depending on how much work you are having done. I am really picky about who is playing around with my vehicles and I trust Allen Tire, all the locations. Just got my latest inspection this morning since the one I usually go to was busy so I used this store for the first time. I was in a pinch to get my state inspection completed last month during the last week of September. I called and spoke to several auto body shops and was able to finally make an appointment with Allen Tire after I got off from work. The front desk employee was friendly over the phone and in person. When I first arrived the parking lot was very small and didn't have much customer parking spots. I checked in and was informed it could take about an hour to an hour and a half since there were repairs scheduled in front of me already/on going. The waiting room was very outdated and dull: old cushion chairs, no television or radio music and a small desk for children coloring books and activities. Another thing I want to point is the lack of complimentary snacks, or at the very least refreshments which were nowhere to be seen. To my surprise, the state inspection only took about 45 minutes and I got the seal of approval. Friendly personnel but would maybe go elsewhere for my repair needs where the waiting room is more upbeat and updated in case I have to stay there for a prolong period of time. read more

Visited Allen Tire on Midlothian after I got a screw in my run flat tire on my way to work. Thought I was going to be stuck with a $200 + bill and lost work hours (right at Christmas!). Bob said I could come right in but he wouldn't be able to get a replacement run flat tire before the afternoon. Within the hour, the technician had evaluated the tire, patched it (at least a temporary fix), and rotated my tires - off to work I went! Two weeks later, the "temporary" fix is still holding strong, and I may get away without replacing the tire for some time. I appreciated the staff's candor and the education they gave me about run flats. At least for the time being, they saved me a lot of money. I'm do glad to have found a friendly and fair service station near my home! UPDATE: 8 months and counting... patch is still holding! Thank you Bob and your awesome staff! read more

Under pressure from my schedule to leave town, I needed a repair and an oil change on my car before I left. I totally expected the part I needed to take a few days to come in. Rob got me in right away and they told me they could get the part THAT DAY and make the repair. Within hours they had my car all taken care of and couldn't have been nicer to me. At the end of a long, tiring and hard day I came out of work to find a nail in my rear driver's side tire...just four weeks after finding a screw in my rear passenger's side tire one day after work. I called the guys at Allen Tire on Midlothian turnpike and they agreed to take a look at it and replace it if they had something in stock. I went in and they had my tire replaced and I was out of there within about 15 minutes. Jimmy and Brian were super pleasant, very nice and gave me excellent customer service! read more

I posted a review on their website as it only has 5 star reviews, makes you wonder. Me and my family have been bringing our vehicles to them for years. In the last couple of years or so i notice that the prices have been going up, which is normal with changing times. Now every time we bring one of our vehicles in for basic maintenance, thy always seem to find a problem. Not that big of a deal since our vehicles are aging. Recently I went in cause my car was making a noise, they said they could not find a problem. Less than a month later my brakes are metal on metal. When I brought it back to the shop they quote me an outrageous amount of money. I came so close to telling them to fix it, I need to get my thoughts together and told them I would call them back. I decided to take my car to get a second opinion. We I sure am glad that I did. I was quoted less than 1/2 the price of that of Allen tire and also said that the problem Allen tire told me about did not even exist. They have completely lost my trust as well as our family business. During these trying times, is not the time to take advantage of people. I am really disappointed, as we have been loyal customers for years. read more

Ripoff artists in the extreme! I made the mistake of telling them I NEEDED a starter, might was about to die...I know these cost about $100 or less if you shop around new, they wanted to charge me over $250. Speaks for itself. They also take forever to get work done. Go ANYWHERE else! read more

This Allen Tire location has excellent service! Ever since my parents and I moved here in 1997, we've been going to here to get all of our cars serviced. Bob, the manager, has know me ever since I was 8 years old, and I'm currently 24! They are not out to rip you off. They always do their best to help you save money. I always look forward to getting my car serviced here because Bob always brings his dog, and the dog always interacts with the customers while they wait in the waiting lounge. Bob is a wonderful manager. He always offers my dad and I some coffee, and maybe sometimes some breakfast treats, everytime we come in. I highly recommend this place if you want to have reliable people repair your car while saving money at the same time. read more

I was a customer of this place for years and had all my cars serviced there and also bought tires from them. It appears there are new people running the show now. After making an appointment for an oil change on Monday I dropped off the car at 7:30 AM on Wednesday morning. It took normally two to three hours to have my car serviced. For that reason I did not specifically tell them to have it ready after lunch. As I called at noon to confirm the car is ready they told me it will be still a while. I needed the car and picked it up as I dropped it. What a waste of time. They took walk in customers first ignoring my car and my reservation for the service. read more

Went on a Saturday 35 minutes before they closed to check tires I knew needed replacing. They quickly gave me a couple of estimates and told me I could get the tires on and out the door before they closed. Went back a few days later for the alignment check and state inspection. Had the car back 30 minutes before I expected. Will definitely return for service and tires for my other vehicle. read more

When I first moved to Richmond, Allen Tire was recommended to me by a coworker, it was close to home and super convenient, so I decided to give them a try. At first, things were great and I didn't have an issues. I took my car in to have my front brakes done and was told I needed new pads and rotors. Six months later, I had to take my car back for the same repair. A few months later, I need to have my alternator replaced. 10 months later, my alternator failed and I had to have it replaced again. I talked to the manager and expressed my displeasure with having to take my car back for rework. Even after that, I took my car in again because I was still having issues with my brakes. I was told that my rear brakes were a "horror show" and everything would need to be replaced sooner than later. The estimate for the work was $750. I took my car to another repair shop and was told NOTHING was wrong with my rear brakes....NOTHING!! Even after I questioned them about it, they showed me their report and even pictures of my brakes. Again, they assured me NOTHING was wrong with my brakes. Needless to say, I was angry and very disappointed in Allen Tire. I feel completely disrespected and I will never take my car to them again. read more

They replaced a radiator hose on my car and charged me $212. I don't think I need to say any more. I told the guy checking me out at the desk that I had a new radiator installed for less and he told me he couldn't even get a radiator at cost for that. I don't think I need to say any more on that lie, either. I was going to bring him the receipt to show him the new radiator and installation of it, but I don't ever want to even drive by that place again. Update: One week later, my car started overheating again. I took it to another shop. They did a pressure test and found that when Allen Tire put the $212 hose on, they did not bleed the system so air was in it. This caused it to overheat - again. I missed a day and a half of work (where if I don't work, I don't get paid) over their mistake. This other shop did a pressure test, block test, tested my fans, diagnosed the problem, bled the system, and then test drove it. They only charged me $24 for all of that. They felt so bad that I was charged that much for the radiator hose, and then to have it overheat again, miss work, and so on they just could not in their own good faith charge me for anything except for the 2 tests ($24 was for the pressure and block test). I know it is hard to shop around when your car breaks - because we need our cars - but for a shop to take advantage of that, then over-charge, and then not do it right is outrageous. read more

Five stars doesn't cover it for the gentlemen at Allen Tire. They just guided me through the process of saving $2,300 on a needed repair to pass the state safety inspection on my 2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring. It is a long and drawn out story, but in the end Hyundai ended up footing the bill to replace a failed and out of warranty OCS Sensor for my air bag system based on guidance from Bob and the gang at Allen Tire. Allen Tire could have easily quoted me a similar repair offered by the dealer and had the work. Instead they chose to point me toward a resolution based on their knowledge of the troubled history of this sensor - and it worked. I purchased a new set of tires at Allen Tire on Midlothian a year ago. These guys are awesome! The customer service here is way beyond any expectations I may have had! They are quick and efficient as well as curteous. They certainly go above and beyond the call of duty. I remembr that Bob Valentine cleaned my wheels when they changed my tires and he brought me over to show me what to use on them to keep the brake dust off of them. In December 2009 I had to visit them again. Apparently I had a flat tire. They quickly took me in and found the problem was a side wall slit and it could not be repaired. A new tire would need to be ordered and it would be replaced the following day. I explained that after work I had a Christmas play and I had very little time to spare. Bob said no problem, they would be quick. The next day when I arrived, Bob actually met me at my car and opened my car door for me stating "How is that for service?" I thought that was pretty awesome myself. They had me in and out in no time. (Thanks guys) Again because of the snow and many potholes I have had two more flat tires and these guys have taken great care of me every time. I have had terrible luck with flat tires and pot holes (the guys even gave me a nick name and said I am high risk for tires), but I will admit, I have enjoyed visiting with the folks at Allen Tire.
