An up front business would say, "before I take your money, know that this car will not pass". But he is not an up front business. We argued. I felt scammed. He said he wished he never sees me again. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE - DO NOT COME HERE FOR A SMOG CHECK! Went here a couple weeks ago, found a coupon for a smog check in the Pennysaver, saw a couple positive reviews on Yelp for the smog check service and thought it couldn't hurt. BIG MISTAKE. Got there, the guy knew NOTHING about cars, tried BSing me about random things. Told me my car was "loud" and failed my car's smog check due to a "broken hose connected to the muffler under the hood." No joke. Since when were mufflers under the hood? The "broken hose" was seriously a crack in the FOAM insulation around a WIRE connected to the battery. And the muffler is not attached to my spark plugs, you scamming scumbags! I looked at the failed smog check sheet and my car passed everything except "other" which wasn't even specified... it amazes me that people can get away with this sort of dishonesty. Then this guy started telling me about how I needed to change my entire exhaust system because you can't change one hose (which yes, we have established, was insulated wire - the wire was fully intact) and that this would cost me upwards of 800+ dollars. On my way out, I saw a yellowbook-sized stack of "failed smog checks" beside the counter... suspicious. Luckily, I called my honest, regular mechanic, who referred me to a more expensive, but HONEST smog test station. Better to pay the $50 and know you're dealing with honest people than flush $30 down the toilet with people trying to shove an $800 repair down your throat. Noticed while I was checking into Dennys that Precision Tune offered a smog check if you checked in there for what I thought said $35.00, as compared to their published price of $50.00. Yay me. Fifteen bucks is fifteen bucks. My car was ready even before I'd finished my rather horrible breakfast. With all the coffee available in the world today, why does Denny's have to serve such slop? I digress ... Anyway, back I went to get my car and asked if I could use the Yelp check in. "No problem," said the friendly guy behind the counter. So I checked in but didn't get any kind of code or anything from Yelp to give the service guy. We tried to puzzle it out for a few minutes until he finally said not to worry about it, if it turned out to be a problem he had my phone number and he'd call me.
