Preference is a gem of a vegetarian food place in NE Anchorage. With a laidback and casual ethos it is an unassuming and down to earth place to grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Everything is tasty and fresh, although, I wish they served horchata. All the meatless choices available made things difficult, in as much as, we had a little bit of trouble just deciding to order just one item (we ended up ordering four). Prices are quite reasonable and in line with Anchorage. Even if you just want to eat a little healthier and want to reduce your reliance on meet and poultry, this is a top choice for your food cravings. Actually, Preference is great for everyone. It's worth the drive and service is excellent. I wish there were more places like Preference.

Alaska sorely needs more vegetarian/vegan focused eateries. There's way too much emphasis on meat or tomato-based pastas/cajun style. This is the first restaurant I've ever seen here that is 100% vegan and offered a variety of well-liked comfort classics but in vegan form! I've recently changed my eating habits and now call myself a Reducetarian. Places like this make people like me happy. The menu is pretty extensive. We got their meatball subs, veggie gyro, and Italian BMT. I must say everything was delicious and also easier on the digestion. I have begun to feel the difference for myself. I will be recovering from back surgery starting next week so just knowing this place exists will make life considerably easier as I won't be doing much cooking. Would give ANYTHING to see him open another location in the Valley! The good news tho is even if you do live in the Valley Preference is probably no more than a 40-45 minute drive, and we're coming from foothills of Hatcher Pass. Veggie lovers unite and give this guy your business! He deserves to succeed.

In newer location around the corner from That Wing Place and just south of the strip mall that has Subway on Boniface. Yummy vegan fare.

No longer a food truck business - they have a cafe set up. In new location around the corner from That Wing Place and just south of the strip mall that has Subway on Boniface. Yummy vegan fare. I had the Portobello mushroom Gyro. Everything is fresh and organic and I can't wait to try other menus items. I hope they do the food truck on south side of town in the summers...

I don't know why it didn't click that this was a vegan restaurant until after I had decided on this place. Boy am I glad that I made that decision. Coming from California, I am no stranger to the plethora of vegan restaurants. I was quite surprised to find out that this restaurant is there first in Alaska to be fully vegan and to have it taste like non vegan cuisine. Even after finding out that it was vegan, I wasn't expecting anything that would blow me away. I must say that it certainly did. I've never ever had a vegan po boy of any kind, so trying out the Cajun po Boy. One word: delicious! I've had my fair share of vegan foods from vegan pho to pizza to burgers (I consider it different from burger or sandwich). It had a nice kick to it from the Cajun seasoning and the chicken tasted so good. I almost forgot it was vegan food. Although Alaska is a little late to the vegan game, better late than never and I'm glad that Preference is pioneering vegan food in the north!

An all-vegan food truck? Yes please! This place was recommended by our Airbnb host and we were not disappointed. It was easy to find in the parking lot with 2 other food trucks. They have a weekly rotating menu and this week was southern comfort. I split a famous bowl for $13 with my non-vegan bf. It came with mashed potatoes and gravy, topped with grilled corn, popcorn chick'n, and a side of cornbread. The potatoes were smooth & creamy, the cornbread was sweet & dense, and the "chicken" had great texture & flavor and even my bf liked it a lot! The gravy was good and a bit salty (which I liked). It was great to split because the portion was HUGE and it was very filling. We were instantly in food comas after finishing this meal. We're excited to go back next week to try something new! The guy who runs the truck was super nice and prepared our food pretty quickly. Also no plastic was used! It came in a compostable container with wooden forks. Honestly a great option for a food truck out on the south side of town! In the same parking lot at a coffee hut for your food and drink convince. Very friendly person who runs the truck. Seems like they have a different menu each week! This week it's their take on In N' Out burger but make it vegan! Honestly run here! This place is amazing. This whole meal was amazing. The sauce was pretty good. I would say it's a little on the pickley side. But it was well worth it. The burger is delicious. You can't tell that it's vegan, just a tad bit softer and easier to eat than beef. If you are looking for a great vegan option food truck for your friends, this is definitely the place to go! Highly recommend going now!

This is our new favorite weekly buy. This is the only 100% vegan/vegetarian restaurant that I know of in Anchorage. They are not a food truck any more and are located next to That Wing Place on Boneface. Their owner is also the head chef and a great guy. We really love their Big Mac and their Mushroom Gyro. We always get them with a small side of Animal Fries.

Great to have the option of a fully vegan restaurant in Alaska. All the food was well prepared and delicious. Hope the business does well and expands into other locations.

The servers seemed a little new, but the service was good and friendly. They carry Frontier brand sodas which we found to be excellent for their flavor. We got root beer and ripe raspberry soda. I ordered the Chili AK Salmon Bowl which our server confirmed is wild salmon. My wife ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich with fries. Both meals were really good. I especially liked the sauce on the salmon bowl so much so that I asked for a little more only to be charged for the extra sauce. I also noticed they include a service charge on the bill (note that this was not gratuity). They told us it was to help them get seasonal labor and to cover overhead. Maybe this is an Alaska thing, but with menu prices as high as these, why would you need to add a service charge? Pricing and nickel & diming aside, I would recommend this place.

I like to think of this food as a burger place with a drive thru, but not a fastfood place. There's a pretty good wait to get food from the drive thru that it's probably faster to go inside and eat. That said, everything tastes fresh, and piping hot. It'd be difficult to find a better burger bun because they make theirs in house and the taste is evident. After perusing the few tables that had people eating burgers, decided to go with the wrap option, not wanting a loaf of bread surrounding my burger! Either that or common sense took a vacation from the cold in Anchorage. Cashier was very helpful despite my clown like behavior. KETO Burger!!! Very pleasing to the eye, wrapped in a generous amount of crunchy iceberg, boom, could have used more sauce, but I'm a sauce kind of clown, plenty to get from the condiment bar. Nice crunchy bacon, boom, she said mustard was absent had to get my own. Over all not bad, certainly not the best in Anchorage like a previous reviewer, that was obviously may or may not be connected to the restaurant .... Hmm what am I some kind of a clown? A few tips to improve the burger, add on the tomato pickles and onions. Also burn a brand into the lettuce like the buns, would be way cool. And don't be afraid to sauce it up, some of us Keto types need a lot of taste to combat the boring taste of iceberg. Take heed, the clown has spoken,

It features a blend of barstool window seats, barstool bar seats, high-top tables, and standard-height tables. We went for a very late lunch, which made the quick food delivery and yet under-attentive service a little perplexing. Having spent last summer in London, the attraction at TCT for us was comparing and contrasting Alaska Halibut Fish & Chips with the British fare. I wanted to like the Tent City offering; I really did not. For the price ($28/ea), we got three modest pieces of fish and the equivalent of two servings of chips. Both the fish and the chips were mushy (undercooked), with a heavy batter finish in contrast with the light and crisp British offering. The accompanying tarter sauce was an odd raspberry-and-blackberry concoction that my family and I called a pickle aftertaste. The presentation, for the price and the atmosphere, was a confusing combination of a metal basket lined with wax paper (like a 1950's drive-through), plastic water and soda glasses (like a college cafeteria), and real silverware. Other reviews have high praise for TCT so, on our next visit to Alaska, it will be good to give them another try. The bones of this establishment are in place for a really special experience, but, today, for me, it was just "ok."
