Dr. Geetanjali Sharma is a fantastic doctor! I was referred to her through a colleague and what a great referral! I have been with her for over 8 years and she is a doctor who listens, addresses concerns, and puts patient care at the center of her practice. She is clear with options and risks with medications, and is clear with follow up instructions. She is a very professional, kind, and caring doctor. I am always able to get into see her in a reasonable time and have referred other friends to her who have also told me how much they like that they have a doctor who listens. Dr. Sharma has given me referrals as needed over the years to specialists who have also been very helpful in addressing other medical needs that have come up with illnesses, injuries, and required testing that is needed with aging. One of the best things about this practice is that you can get your bloodwork done in house - so it's nice to have a morning appointment, come to the appointment fasting, and get your bloodwork done right away- no other appointments or trips to a lab needed! Her office staff is very nice and helpful. They are efficient with paperwork needs and have always been professional and friendly. Comfortable clean,lobby I was pleasantly surprised there was only two people ahead of me, After a short wait I was called by Adriana she was friendly and professional. She checked my weight took my BP. Discussed the reason for my visit We went over and updated my medicines, very pleasant. Patient room is super clean and comfortable I'm waiting to see their PA. Dave who knocked before entering. I explained my symptoms and concerns Dave examined me throughly and had me do some range of motion movements. Dave cared, and was friendly and professional. This visit was 8 months ago and had it in my DRAFTS... I felt it was time to post!!! Well maybe this was a bad experience with a Dr. that I will leave unnamed. We just didn't have good help I felt in my mind. My wife had surgery back in Dec and is having a rough recovery. She has experienced issues post op and developed acute anxiety among other things. Without going into too much detail, this was my wife's 3rd visit seeking help from this Dr. 1st two visits zero help, just referrals to seek help with a specialist. Today I went with her to her appointment and seemed like it was going to be about another referral day. I recently had a pre op with Dr. Sharma and she cleared me for surgery with blood pressure of 167/100, when I got to the hospital, I was checked in, put in a room, had needles in my arms and wires were stuck on me just to be told they weren't doing it because of my blood pressure, they looked at my pre op paperwork and seen what the blood pressure was when I was in her office and asked me if she discussed it with me, she did not, I called her office and asked for her to call me three days ago and still no call, so this tells me what I need to know about her, she doesn't care about her patients at least not me, I just want to know if she even looked at my chart, and if she did why did you not take action like a doctor is suppose to?? Why did you not care enough to call me and discuss it with me when I asked for you to call??? read more

I've been going to Preferred Family and seeing Dr. Patel for around 20 years or so. He is very thorough and remembers everything about me and my family. He explains everything and answers all my questions. Best doctor. Also, P.A. Dr. Dave is great. If Dr. Patel is not available, I always see Dr. Dave. There is one doctor there who is horrible. Dr Patel is not a good listener I had to repeat myself multiple times. He jumped to.conclusions called me angry, then said he could help, but then changed his mind after I said I don't think I'm angry but a logical thinker and when something is wrong I'm going to let you know it's wrong. He then said I would need to find another doctor. I asked for my money back and they gave it back. I said to Dr. Patel thanks for wasting my time and his retort was thank you for wasting my time too. Been going to Preferred Family Care Physicians for several years now. I've been hesitating writing this review because I am afraid they will get too busy. After seeing their 2.5 star rating on Yelp, I need not worry. Guess I've been fortunate on my annual visits to Preferred Family Care Physicians. Overall, wait time has never taken more than 1 hour. The staff is superb!! Everyone from the receptionists to the physician assistants to the phlebotomists to the Doctors have been professional, friendly, caring, and courteous. Actually, I only see one doctor here. That person is excellent!!!! The office is very clean. Waiting area is well kept. They are very high tech with their gadgets. Even in the examination room, there is a large tablet on the wall that is filled with tons of useful medical info. Easy to navigate too. That sums up my experiences at Preferred Family Care Physicians. Hopefully, these good experiences will continue. read more

My insurance offers a discount if I have a yearly exam along with a full bloodwork panel. During my appointment with Dr. Geetanjali Sharma, she noticed a bump by my left eye. I thought it was a development due to an injury that had occurred to the area in the past. She showed great concern and gave me instructions to make an appointment with Dr Ana Cardenas as soon as possible. Conclusion, it was a basal cell carcinoma and if Dr Sharma had not identified it, later treatment would have included the loss of my eyelid or worse. Yes, I have a scar, and yes it is noticeable, but having left untreated this small bump could have metastasized to my brain. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Sharma along with Dr. Cardenas, Dr.Hu and Dr. Chang. All experts in their field. Yes, I Highly Recommend Dr. Sharma and have received wonderful, thorough care from her for years. read more

I was told over the phone twice that my prescription would be refilled and I finally had to pickup a written prescription from Preferred Family Care and take it to the pharmacy. This review is a "tentative" review, dependent on my next visit. I understand you have to wait at a doctor's office. So saddle up, bring a book, water, survival gear, a pillow, and relax. But man almost an hour sitting in the waiting room is torture! My last visit was so unorganized. I could hear the doctor talking with her staff in the hallway and they seemed clueless, I heard my name a couple times and the doctor was trying to verify whether they had given me my blood work documents. It seemed like she had too much on her plate because her staff couldn't keep up with the demands of the office. I saw a new doctor this time around and will check back in once I've thoroughly assessed whether she is the right doctor for me. I have never felt more mistreated by a dr than by Dr. Dagdagan(dick for short). You try and tell him what's wrong and how you're feeling. He tells YOU what is wrong with you, without even listening. If you're overweight, avoid him unless you like feeling put down and small. My sleep apnea machine isn't working right, and I feel extremely tired driving at work and asked for a new sleep study and some blood work. I asked to be written out of work til I can get my sleep study and bloodwork done so I will feel safe while at work instead of sleepy and exhausted. He tells me no, he's not gonna write me out and proceeded to lightly yell at me in which I tell him I don't understand what he's saying. He just chuckles and leaves the room. So here's my question I come in because I have abnormal symptoms and would like to get it checked out and be safe, why is writing me out til I get the labs and sleep results back such a big deal. I came in with a concern and felt ignored. He wouldn't write me out til I get the sleep study done and the results, but in the meantime, I'm driving a semi sleepy. I have dealt with other doctors in that office and they have been fantastic. But the last 3 times I been in and seen dr. Dick. He's been exactly that a dick. I have been a patient of Dr Patel since 2000 and have been very satisfied with his way of treating me as a patient . He is probably the best in Bakersfield when it comes to PCP The office is nice clean and now offers a wifi . The staff is courteous ,The wait time used to be short and we were seen within 5-10 minutes of appointment time . Unfortunately it is not now . I had an appointment at 7.45 AM and I did not see the doctor till 9,really . I made that early appointment so I could be free by 8.30 . May be because they have just one MD and 3 mid levels and everybody wants to see Dr Patel so he is swamped and overbooked . Hope they can fix this and I and other patients are seen in a timely manner . read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I went to get a referral for a specialist and decided to see a general practitioner, Dr. Mark Dagdagan. He came in with a rude demeanor and would not even let me finish my sentences. He questioned everything about my past medical history, making me sound like a liar or like the other doctors who had seen me were incredibly ignorant. When I asked if I could get the referral form to choose my own doctor in my network, he went ballistic. He started screaming at me and asking why I could not simply go to the doctor attached to their clinic. When I tried to calmly explain that I liked to do my own prior research on doctors so I would have the best experience possible with someone that is willing to understand me, he was incredibly dismissive and started asking me, "Do you even want this referral form? You could just go to another clinic if you don't like how I'm doing this" OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I kept telling him to please calm down, but because I'm young, I think he felt he deserved to belittle me. What he didn't expect was that I would walk out of that office right then and there. People deserve to be treated with dignity and respect by their physicians, and this man made me feel as though I was a liar and he knew my whole life in a context that was beyond me. If you value doing research. If you believe you are capable of researching and finding a good medical professional. If you believe you have inherent human rights to be treated fairly. Do NOT go to this clinic or see this doctor. You deserve better. This man will make you feel like you don't. So again: You deserve better. read more

I loved Dr. Heidrick and am sad that he left. The PAs are very nice and seem to be very knowledgeable. The staff courteous and it's certainly convenient to have xrays and a lab onsite. Unfortunately, EVERY SINGLE time I go there, I have to wait over an hour in the lobby just to be moved into an exam room and wait some more. I don't know if it is the office manager or the medical staff who has time management problems but this has occurred even when I made the first appointment in the morning or the first appointment after lunch. Last week, I had a 3:30 appointment and was not escorted into the exam room until 4:45. I finally saw the PA at 4:57. I may not be an MD, but my time is also valuable and I don't like it wasted. read more

They told me it was because I was a new patient. Ok. Next visit had to wait 50 minutes. So I make next appt. for first available time in the morning. I get there and they have no record of my appt. but they can fit me in they just don't how long the wait will be. NO THANKS! Then she asks me if I would like to schedule another appt. Dr. Sharma's office do not care about patients health, I am a diabetic patient without my medicine for 4 days, after 3 phone that I made, 2 calls from my pharmacists, 3 trips to the pharmacy, thanks to the ineptitude of the personnel at this office. They send the prescription as I requested, but without the dosage and the pharmacist refused to refill. She sent the doctor a request to fix even was Saturday. Monday morning first thing in the morning I did call and ask them to be specific and write the dosage .5 on it. I told them I really needed the medicine, either the front desk clerk didn't write down or dr.s sharma's assistant didn't care, they send it twice, once at my request and once at the pharmacist request. When I did stop after work I find out that they send it wrong again with no dosage, 3 times the same mistake, the pharmacist called them and to,d them about the mistake. They stated that they would send it again quick because I was waiting at the pharmacy. To make it short, they just went home without sending it despite me waiting at the pharmacy more than an hour. I came into this office as a new patient. And when I called to set this appointment up originally, I had given all my symptoms and told them my recent negative covid results. Once I came into the office, the man at the front of the office taking temperatures was very nice!! And my temp came back normal. After waiting almost 45 min to be called to the back. I didn't even make it to the patient room, and the lady said I couldn't be seen today. Even AFTER I made my copay! She had offered telemedicine, but I came in specifically to see a doctor. Dr. Patel and Dr. Dagdagan are the worst doctors. They are both dismissive and do not listen to their patients. They do not rely on the patient being the expert of their body or listen to the whole sentence. I have been in and out of their office and ER with extreme abdominal pain for 2 weeks. Dr. Patel only focused on one symptom and made recommendations for that, still not addressing or exploring a possible underlying issue. Saw Dr. Dagdagan today and he talked over me, didn't listen to all the information, went over a lab done in July and focused on ONE of the test results which had absolutely NOTHING to do with my current issues, then went on to be dismissive over the rest of my concerns. The biggest upset of it all he recommended I see a psychiatrist!!!!!!! Not at all addressing my symptoms and ongoing issue. I demanded a referral to a GI specialist. He is rude and unprofessional, he needs his license removed. After I was given the referral I walked two doors down, was seen, diagnosed, and taking medication to address my issue. read more

Dr Patel has been my physician since 1993 when he was at Kaiser. He took care of me when I had a serious fall from my horse and to this day each time I see him he still asks if I'm riding. He calls me with my test results and responds if I have a question. You won't find a better more compassionate physician than he. I also see Vicky Shergill the Nurse Practioner for regular visits. She and her assistant Wanda are always friendly, professional and they know their stuff. I never leave my appointment feeling as if they rushed me thru. Everyone in the office is very friendly and I love that there is a pharmacy (better prices than Walmart), X-ray and lab right there should you don't not have to make numerous stops all over town. Now they have extended hours so they're even more convenient. The only thing I dislike is their bookkeeping system. I don't know who decided on that software program but when their own billing employees agree that it's bad and too hard for them to understand you know it's bad. Note: dump the bookkeeping program and stick to something simple! Overall I love the physicians and staff at Preferred Family and I think you would too! read more

I usually feel like this office is professional. But, my latest experience has changed my mind. I went in for an appointment and during the appointment I was sent for an xray. By the time I was done, they had already given away the room. They told me they were sending the xray off for a review STAT and that I would hear back that day...nothing. I called every day the following week and either someone told me that the Dr. hadn't gotten to it yet and I would hear the next day. Or, they told me it had already been read. Frustrating! Needless to say, no one from that office called me back at all. Come on Preferred Family, you can do better! read more

Took my mother to see her doctor today because he had given a medication , or actually two that, where so far off base that when I read up on them they caused the worst reactions possible. So to my surprise ,(not really)HE did not want to see her on her follow up to see how the drugs where doing; but his F.N.P. VICKY SHERGILL did! This was fabulous! She listened. She paid close attention to the situation and make perfect and accurate statements that made this mishap a positive one. I can not say enough about her handling the situation. I will make all my appointments from now on with her. We were about to just find a doc that cares during and after the appointment. but we will stick with VICKY SHERGILL. I don't understand the negative reviews. My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Patel for over 20 years and would never consider anyone else for our primary care. Unfortunately there have been several physicians that have left the clinic over the years and there seems to be difficultly replacing them. This has caused an increase in wait time but I have never waited more than an hour. The people that complain about excessive wait times or having a couple of weeks to get to see their primary must not have much experience going to the doctor. Both my husband and I have chronic conditions so we see several doctors frequently. Preferred Family Care is one of the best we go to. The support staff is professional while still friendly. They recognize us both by first name when we need to call in. I have never waited more than 24 hours for a return call when I have called with a question. I especially appreciate being able to get labs, x-rays and many other tests in this facility rather than having to run all over town to have them done. Dr. Patel has referred us both to specialists and greased the wheels to get us in quickly. I have never felt rushed when I see him and he always remembers things we have discussed previously about my family or interests not related to my medical condition. If we need to be seen quickly and the doctor is booked, we always get right in to see the nurse practitioner or physician's assistant. They are also amazing. We have run in to the technicians in other medical facilities and they greet us by name. Health care has been undermined by new regulations and bureaucracy. And yet here there is still such a personal touch. Try to find that anywhere else. Kudos to Dr. Patel And his entire staff read more

This was my first appointment with Dr. Patel. I showed up early to fill out the paper work, so I would have it ready before my appointment time. After an hour after my appointment time I said to the check person to cancel my appointment, she said I would be going back next. Then they put my in an exam room and left. At the two hours and waiting I said to cancel and my copay returned and then I left. There are plenty of good Doctor's out there that keep their appointments. This was my first and last time here. They do not care about the patient's time. Avoid this place unless you like waiting for hours and hours. Go where they treat you with some respect. read more

I have been a patient since the day they opened most of the time its been good but i made an appt. 2 weeks ago for myself and my husband for a follow up after an auto accident .checked in paid my co pay waited one hour and 10 mins .We waited in the exam room another 10 mins. nurse came in did her thing waited another 10 mins nurse came back in said they don't do accident follow ups too much trouble the PA came in said its ok since we have been with them so long they will do it any way. What a joke checked my heart rate looked at my bruise felt my husband back and said all done and by the way you have to pay in full before you go .They charged us more than double a reg office visit and could'nt figure out how to give us a detailed receipt so i could bill my insurance said they would email it the next day i am still waiting. I have been faithful to Dr. Patel all these years even with the long wait times and I don't know if the problem is his new partners but you might as well go to kaiser for all the personal help you get there now.I wish Dr. Patel all the best but we have changed Doctors and and I sure it will be much better for my family. I see PA Dave and have for several years. I have multiple health conditions and he is very thurough making sure all my tests and screenings are done. He is also up to date on all my visits with my specialists. My last doctor didn't do nearly as good a job keeping up with this complexity.
