Preferred Kitchen & Bath recently completed a remodel of my kitchen and family room. I cannot say enough great things about them! I contacted five different companies to get estimates, and while Preferred Kitchen & Bath was not the least expensive, I knew that I would not be sorry if I chose them to do the work. I didn't feel that same level of confidence with any of the other companies that provided estimates. That may not sound like much of an endorsement, but anyone who's lived through any kind of remodel knows how stressful it can be. Preferred Kitchen & Bath took the majority of the stress out of the process, and left me with a stunningly beautiful kitchen and family room. We worked primarily with Suzy Sparks, who is an amazing designer. We really weren't looking for a radical change, just upgraded materials and a lot more functionality. Suzy is a consummate professional whenever we had an issue or concern, she listened carefully and always came up with a great solution that didn't make us feel as if we were compromising OR that we were being nickel-and-dimed. That in itself kept the stress level low. Suzy also managed the entire project, scheduling all the contractors as efficiently as possible to make sure the project was completed in as short a time as possible. From the beginning, Suzy helped us to be mindful of our budget. She explained the differences between a lower-priced cabinet versus a higher priced cabinet, which had similar durability, but more stain colors to choose from. We went with the lower priced cabinet and are very happy with the end result. We also made a few design changes as we went along, and Suzy's help was tremendous. For example, we had originally planned to tile the entire section of the family room wall where the fireplace is and place a TV above. We decided to only tile around the fireplace, and Suzy suggested tiling inside the nook shelves (which are very large spaces). This design change did NOT cost more money, and it looks fantastic! Every time I sit in the family room which is pretty much daily, I marvel at how beautiful it all looks! Again, I cannot say enough great things about Suzy Sparks and Preferred Kitchen & Bath. Not only was I NOT sorry I opted to work with them, I have already begun to talk to them about a master bath remodel. I wouldn't work with anyone but Preferred Kitchen & Bath! read more

Our custom built house just hit the 50-year mark with little to no updates on the bathrooms. I was looking for someone daring and adventurous that was willing to take on a project much bigger than most. I wanted walls moved, bedrooms extended, the laundry room moved, and the closet and the bathroom to flip places. I had looked high and low for just such a person, presenting to them a picture of my ideal bathroom that I had found on the Preferred Kitchen and Bath (PKB) website. I didn't even think to call the PKB because they are down in South Orange County and I live in North Orange County. After about 10 failed attempts to align my vision of the project with other contractors, I got desperate and called PKB, hoping and praying that the designer who'd done the bathroom I wanted would travel a bit. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the designer, Lea, of the bathroom that I really loved, lived close to my home and was willing to come have a look. The second Lea looked at the job I could seriously see the wheels spinning inside her head, not to mention the excitement she expressed at the challenge of the job. It was exactly what I was looking for but more money. I'm here to tell you, it was worth every penny. I had told Lea that I hoped that I'd look back and say, "I can't believe that is all it cost." Lea replied with a very confident, "You will!" AND SHE WAS RIGHT!!!! Wow! The work they did was just amazing. Lea is so organized that the job is done very efficiently. There was only one day that no one came to the house to work over the two months that the project took to accomplish. And the workers were very respectful of our property, if something got damaged they repaired it immediately, they didn't leave their trash laying around, and the quality of the work they did is impeccable. This in addition to the quality of the products they installed and the details that they took care of is what makes me feel like I couldn't have asked for a better crew. Lea has great taste. We loved working with her so much we also had her do our two other bathrooms and again had an amazing experience with her and her team. We were not looking forward to when we have to remodel our 22 year old kitchen but now I feel confident, that when the time comes, we know exactly where we will go!!! read more

We love our kitchen!!! We contacted Preferred Kitchen and Bath located in Lake Forest to upgrade our existing kitchen in San Clemente. We were not 100% sure what we wanted, especially around removing walls, cabinets, counter tops, etc. Julie came to our house to review our current layout, take some basic measurement and then we scheduled a follow up meeting at her office where she worked with us on a design. She was really patient and listened to our questions and was able to interpret them into a wonderful design in our kitchen/living area. We did not just replace cabinets, we did a good amount of construction as well open up walls to create an open floor plan. We met with three different designers and we choose Preferred Kitchen and Bath because of their professional and attention to detail. From our first meeting to the last walk through, Julie and her team were excellent to work with through the entire process. Julie provided us with a detailed project plan at the start of the project and met each milestone she set within the plan (even finished early at times). We had a new kitchen in three and half weeks from start to finish!!! The crew arrived each day on time and left the place as clean as you could possibly expect during a remodel and we had a lot of construction done at our site. As I mentioned, her team completed the project on schedule and we are so very happy with their work. I would highly recommend Julie and her team at Preferred Kitchen and Bath to anybody who is planning on upgrading their kitchen. One additional item I have to mention is the compliments I received from various vendors on how great it was to work with Preferred Kitchen and Bath. Julie gave me a list of appliances, faucets and fixtures I needed to purchase, the sizes I needed to buy and when I needed to have them in the house to be ready for the installers. Wow! who would have thought an impulsive "Let's just drive by" would lead us to Preferred Kitchen and Bath and Linda and ultimately turn our kitchen disaster into a dream kitchen? In the middle of one of OC's worst rainstorms we had a pipe burst and seep down to and under the first floor kitchen area. After delays from our insurance carrier we decided to search for our own contractor. We saw a small ad for Preferred Kitchen and Bath in the local Home Magazine which had just arrived in the mail and said let's drive by. We were greeted by a beautiful showroom, gracious and helpful staff and within days, Linda, our designer arrived at the house rolling up her sleeves to help us maneuver this challenge. I had just had surgery, rain had come in through our windows and neither one of us wanted to invest in a new kitchen at this point in our lives. Linda immediately put us at ease and guided us every step of the way. We always knew what to expect when. She kept us focused and organized. I admit to many meltdowns along the way because in addition to recovering from surgery I fell and fractured my elbow. I was ready to put the For Sale sign out. But there was Linda again to keep the waters calm and the project moving ahead. I am an HGTV fanatic with a HOUZZ plan book that doesn't quit. We thought we knew what we wanted and Linda helped pull it all together. She is a design wonder and master organizer. It was literally like having a friend do all the work for us. Not having to schedule each crew and figure out time lines was such a blessing. We hadn't remodeled in many years and forgot how challenging those tasks and details can be. Linda took all that stress off our plates and I am so grateful for that as well as the professionalism each and every person that came to work displayed. The moment I stepped into the beautiful showroom of Preferred Kitchen & Bath I knew that it's the style I was looking for. The huge computer screen in the showroom was even more impressive. Only one week after Dwight collected all the data of our house, Julie showed me a complete plan and visualization of our future kitchen on that screen. I was very impressed by her creativity and design style. Julie and her team did a fantastic job to transform our kitchen and guest bathroom to a whole new level. They kept everything under control and the transition among different functional teams was very smooth during the process. Every team did a great job in their specialized field, Derek, Alex, Richard, Jose, Eduardo, etc. each crew showed their professionalism and attention to details and quality of work. Julie has a strong sense of color and style. She is able to see subtle differences in color variations and being able to put colors together so that they compliment each other nicely. She helped me select the color of our wall pain. It turned out to be a clean and fresh look and compliment perfectly with our floor and cabinets. She took me shopping and finished selecting all the materials in couple of hours. I was very impressed by her ability of getting things done very efficiently. My wife and I are overjoyed with the new kitchen design created by Lea Biermann. The entire experience was exceptional. Lea's vision and expertise transformed our space into a stunning, functional, and modern kitchen that surpassed all our expectations. This was no easy feat, as we completely gutted the old kitchen from the 60's and needed a brand-new design from scratch. Lea's attention to detail was the first thing that stood out. She took the time to understand our vision, needs, and preferences, seamlessly blending our home's style with her innovative ideas. The result is a kitchen that is not only beautiful but also incredibly functional and perfect for entertaining. Although we did not contract Lea to work directly with our contractors, as we had an existing relationship with them, Lea maintained excellent communication throughout the project. Where to begin? My kitchen is simply beautiful. My husband and I feel that the work on our kitchen was done incredibly carefully and to a very, very high standard. We are European and moved to the US a year before having this kitchen installed. I have to say the workmanship is on par with what I expect from Meister tradesmen in Europe. Everyone involved in the process held themselves accountable to delivering an absolutely stunning final product. I am writing a review to let others know that this company is truly something special. They have so much pride in what they deliver. Preferred Kitchen and Bath was reliable, punctual, accurate in their measurements and accurate in their pricing, with no surprises down the line. We worked with JULIE. I met with many kitchen designers before deciding to work with Julie and Preferred Kitchen & Bath and I am so happy I did. Julie is incredibly talented at making that dream kitchen a reality. I cannot tell you how many designers told me what I most wanted in my kitchen (center island) was not possible within the space I had. Julie listened carefully to what we wanted and came up the a perfect plan for our kitchen. It has almost been a year and I am still getting complements anytime somebody comes to visit. I had a new babysitter come in two days ago, and when she set foot in the kitchen her first comment was WOW! I just love this! Best of all, after now having lived in the kitchen for nearly a year, I can honestly say it WORKS. It is intelligently designed, with space to cook, move around, put away groceries and do homework. When we were deciding whether to use just one company to handle our kitchen remodel or maybe save money and hired each individual worker for each job. For instance, we needed to gut the whole kitchen, including ripping out large tiles and replace them with hardwood so flow with the rest of the area. A large non-bearing wall needed removing so open up the kitchen, the electrical needed rewiring, and lighting added, and more. After meeting Julie, we felt that Preferred Kitchen should do all the work and leave the headaches to her. There is a large display of cabinet types, countertops, accessories where we didn't need to go anywhere else to find a pattern we liked better. Our kitchen is so beautiful. I was able to convey to her the style of cabinets, color schemes, etc. and she added her touch of what she thought would add even more - things like a cabinet for my platters, a microwave that comes out of the island, giving more space for storage in the other cabinets. I needed a larger pantry and she was able to redesign and move things around and used every accessible space there was. I loved all the workers she used. They had all been working for her for a long time and very trustworthy, kind and cleaned up every day before they left. I mean really cleaned and swept, etc. You will never go wrong with Preferred Kitchens. If we redo our bath, she will be the only person I call and I highly recommended Preferred Kitchens to anyone. If you had seen this kitchen before, like all our friends have, you would love to hear the expressions and comments that we are hearing every time someone comes over. Love you, Julie! read more

When it came time to update and enlarge my kitchen I went onto Houzz.com to help me find a local company to work with. I found some gorgeous kitchens done by Preferred Kitchen and Bath. The reviews were great, so I definitely wanted to talk to them. After meeting with Lea Biermann, the decision to go with Preferred Kitchen and Bath was an easy one. Lea was such a joy! From our first meeting on, working with Lea was like sitting down and designing a kitchen with my sister (if my sister was a world class kitchen designer!). She had such wonderful ideas -and, the perfect vision for my new space! She created such a gorgeous kitchen for me. If I was on the verge of making a mistake with my design choices, Lea would tactfully "guide" me in the right direction. Shopping with Lea for the countertop and backsplash material was fun and productive. The cost and schedule for my project were basically right on track from the start. Lea was great at communicating all aspects of the project (Schedule, cost, etc.). If I had a question, it was easy to get in touch with Lea quickly. I could not be happier with the quality level of the work and products supplied by Preferred. Alex led the installation team. They were all very polite, organized, meticulous and detail oriented. They did an excellent job installing my cabinets. In the end, I was the overjoyed recipient of a gorgeous kitchen! I could not be happier with the finished product. We met with half a dozen companies when selecting a contractor, and after our meeting at our home with Patricia, one of the lovely design coordinators, we felt that PK&B best understood our vision and budget. Suzy, our assigned designer, was an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish. She was professional, warm, and genuinely attentive to all of our ideas and preferences. Thanks to her thoughtful approach, her precise attention to detail, and Jose and his fabulous team, we now have a new bathroom and laundry room that are not only functional but absolutely stunning. Throughout the process, we encountered a few unexpected surprises due to the age and unique history of our home; however, Suzy handled every twist with patience and flexibility, quickly reworking the design to fit our new needs. We used Julie and Preferred Kitchen and Bath six years ago to remodel our kitchen and they did a superb job. This year we hired them to remodel our downstairs bath, install new hardwood floors throughout our downstairs and the largest project of all, completely redo the Master Bath. The entire project turned out beautifully. The Master Bath was incredibly reimagined by Julie and her contractors showed up on time and there was work being done nearly everyday. It is a completely new space and Julie's designs and concepts pushed us in some wonderful new directions that we couldn't have thought of on our own. Seriously, it now looks like a luxury hotel. The downstairs bath, which is a small powder room, is more open and inviting with a classy full wall tile design and floating vanity. The floors transformed our downstairs and Julie counseled us on color and material. We also worked with Julie's chief contractor Jose to completely rebuild and redesign our Master Staircase which is a major focal point when you enter the home. Jose's sub contractors are superb and true craftsmen. They show up on time and stay on schedule. All components of this project were completed simultaneously (floors, both baths, staircase)), and it could have been a huge headache, but Julie's team made it easy, especially since we did this entire thing during the pandemic when good contractors were hard to come by. We love Julie and Preferred. We'll be back for even more projects that we are already thinking up. read more

Julie from Preferred Kitchen & Bath wasn't our friend, but she definitely is one now! My wife and I are the typical couple that just can't see eye-to-eye on design projects. Can't count how many frustrating shouting matches we had on our remodeling ideas. We saw Julie's work in our neighbor's house and heard a lot of praise so we decided to give her a try. OK, honestly, we also knew she wasn't the lowest bidder on projects from different neighbors, But we just need someone to listen to our needs and magically make them happen. What also got our attention was the praise that her crew got the job done on time. Too many horror stories on projects that lingered and dragged on for months in the neighborhood. Working with Julie has been a pleasure from the start. I would hate to be in her profession if I have to deal with clients like us. OK, we are not that bad, but did I mention that we sat on the remodeling idea for 7 years because my wife and I couldn't agree? :-) OK, so keep the review short, Julie is great. We worked out the remodeling plan after several sessions in the show room where she showed us the different ideas real-time on her computer screen. We really love the crew that worked on our house. Each one is friendly and professional. If you ever work with the same crew, I can tell you Alex (carpenter), Eduardo (tile), Tony (electrician) are just phenomenal. While considering our kitchen remodel, floor replacement, and entry way upgrade, we talked with many people that had similar work done. Although most were happy with the eventual outcome, not a single one would recommend their contractor. After our experience with Preferred Kitchen and Bath, we are not only pleased with our remodel but also happy with the entire process. We highly recommend them for design (Julie), project management (Suzy), and craftsmanship (Jose, Patrick, Alex, Damian, Eduardo, Richard, and their assistants). - Julie was there every step of the way during design, material selection, compatibility, and ensuring a good overall look. She brings ideas to light without being pushy but drew the line on a couple occasions when she felt we were making a bad choice. The end result, including help with paint selection, looks fantastic. - Weeks before project start, Suzy provided a detailed schedule with contact information. When a separate window contractor was late, she made the needed adjustments in a way that minimized our inconvenience. She kept us informed of any changes. All work was completed by original target date. - The skill and hard work of everyone involved on-site was equally matched by their friendliness, communication about unexpected issues and options, and willingness to listen to any concerns. Lea Biermann is a wonderfully talented designer! I am so happy I worked with her. I have a small kitchen, but she was able to squeeze every square inch of usefulness out of it, with lazy susans, pull-outs, and other enhancements. She also has an amazing eye for color -- she was able to blend my kitchen colors and style beautifully and organically with the rest of my house. People have commented, "It looks like it always should have been this way all along!" At Lea's suggestion, we chose painted cabinets, rather than wood, because I had so much wood in the rest of the house. Her recommendation was remarkably astute! The base cabinets are "Sweet Pea" and the upper, "Rice Paper," a slightly greenish-cast white. The granite is "Secret Garden," and the backspash tiles are "Vintage Lace." Put together, it's stunning! The only drawback was my sticker shock -- I had never remodeled a kitchen before, and I went into it thinking my 10x12 space would surely NOT cost an arm and a leg, especially since I wasn't replacing the floor and I was keeping the diswasher and refrigerator. I was UNpleasantly surprised at the cost! Not sure how much of it was the design store's margin or whether I should have pushed for a better discount on the cabinets, which were very pricey. Still, aside from the tab, I am thrilled with everything about the kitchen! And I would choose Lea again, without hesitation! read more

After meeting with other kitchen designers, we discovered Preferred Kitchen and Bath and went to check out their showroom. We were immediately impressed and made an appointment to meet with Julie. That decision turned out to be one of the best home improvement decisions we've ever made. Julie was completely involved in our kitchen remodel from start to finish. She patiently listened to our ideas and tactfully made recommendations to steer us in the right direction. She always took time to explain why she thought something would work or not work and wanted to make sure the redesign fit with the rest of the house. Everything she put together for us, from the use of space to the choice of cabinets, counter tops, lighting, flooring, paint, etc. turned out perfectly. The rest of her team was also amazing. Suzy made sure things moved along as scheduled and was always available if we had questions. She did a fantastic job of overseeing the project and taking care of anything unexpected. Alex, Damian, Derek, Eduardo, Fernando and Richard were all experts in their fields and also a pleasure to work with. We absolutely love our beautiful new kitchen and could not be happier with the way it turned out. We decided on Preferred Kitchen & Bath for our kitchen remodel as we liked the idea of them managing the entire project. Lea was awesome as our designer and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. Our project was actually more than just a kitchen remodel. In addition to all new cabinetry, countertops, flooring and appliances, Preferred Kitchen and Bath removed a wall between the kitchen and family room creating a large open living space. They relocated the heater/air conditioning to the attic, had tile flooring laid throughout the house except the bedrooms, updated the fireplace with added cabinets on both sides of the fireplace. During the design process, Lea listened to our ideas, was always available and gave us great suggestions as she guided us through the entire project. She made the whole process so much easier for us. We were given a detailed dated schedule before the work started and the project was completed as scheduled. All of the contractors, Desmond (heating and air conditioning), Alex (cabinets / baseboards), Derek (construction / electrical), Eduardo (tile / backsplash) and Damian (countertops) were very professional, on time, easy to talk to and made an effort to be as minimally disruptive as possible. Preferred Kitchen and Bath was AMAZING!!!!! Lea was referred to us from good friends who just had their home remodeled by them. There is no doubt that they are the BEST! We had so much fun designing my dream kitchen. We gutted the entire downstairs and even had a wall removed, which gave us the most amazing new kitchen space. We enjoyed the process so much, that half way into our job we hired them to do all the flooring, 2 bathrooms and a hallway upstairs. Lea is so talented and easy to work with. She has great ideas and also respects your design style along the way. Her contractor Jose was awesome and his team was always beyond respectful of our space and time. Everyday was an adventure and now that our project is complete, we makes jokes that we miss the team being here all the time, lol! Our kitchen, bathrooms, flooring and fireplace area came out beautiful. We even came up with a unique way to remove our ugly wood banister and create a desk/workspace area that flows right into the kitchen. Every step was fun and exciting, even when hiccups popped up, Lea & Jose were quick to engage and find a fast solution. We did a complete remodel of our master bathroom. Patricia was the first one to come to our home and measure. She was lovely and professional. She paired us up with Lea who was our designer. My husband and I entered the process without many ideas on what we wanted. She provided a nice array of choices without making us feel overwhelmed. Having a designer like Lea made this process so enjoyable. Her design was amazing and she nailed our style. She brought us into the showroom and spent time showing us pictures of possible lighting options on a big screen. She also had a couple of renderings of our bathroom up. She was honest which we really appreciated because we needed to stay on budget. The contractors were amazing. Eduardo literally was a craftsman like I have never seen as we watched him meticulously build our shower and install our flooring. The quality of work was very good. They stayed on schedule with their proposed timeline and Celeste, Lea's assistant, reached out often to update us and we felt the communication was exceptional.
