I had my windows installed on May 25, and the team did a fantastic job. The only issue was that I had originally ordered my master bath window without etching. At installation, I realized I needed the etching for privacy. I tried to make it work, but my neighbor could see in. When I mentioned this to Tim, he immediately agreed to order the etched glass and even offered to split the cost with me. That was such a kind and understanding gesture--it showed excellent customer service. We found Preferred on the HERO/Pace program website, and crossed referenced it with Yelp to make sure they had positive reviews. Tim's team did a great job replacing the eight windows. His team was in and out in less than 6 hours (one window needed to be cut down since we enlarged it). They took care of the blinds, curtains and alarm sensors. Now we have hyper-efficient (double pane, low-E argon filled), fantastic looking windows. Since Tim is qualified via HERO we were able to finance it that way (although the cost of these was not that bad). I have no reservations recommending Preferred Windows and Doors. read more

The owner, Tim, is knowledgeable and super easy to work with, and he made sure our new windows and sliding glass doors were exactly what we wanted and were installed perfectly. We ended up going with aluminum windows because they fit the style of our house, which meant the installation team had to break stucco to install the new windows. The team kept a tidy workspace (even though breaking stucco is a total mess) and they did a superb job patching up the stucco. You can barely tell there's patched stucco at all. I always research when I am remodelling and had it down to three brands of windows; Anderson(way too high) and then Anlin and Milgard. ANlin came out first with a great window then Tony Boucher came out from Preferred. I liked both (and both scored equally online). I then heard from two friends who had used Preferred and were very satisfied what they got.. and they were less expensive and worked with the HERO program. Tony was not pushy and just let his product speak for itself. BOOM! Less then three weeks later the crew showed up and installed 24 windows and two doors in two days... and left my house looking better (and cleaner) then before..lol If I had any constructive criticism, it would be that they could improve on their communications... I'm a licensed contractor and needed to get some windows at my house and didn't feel like doing them my self. Told my self I would get 2 maybe 3 quotes. Ended up getting 6 quotes. Every company wanted half the amount of the job for a down payment which is illegal is CA. These guys were the only ones to follow the law and didn't even ask for a down payment even though they could take 10% or 1,000$ which ever is less. We bought a 1953 home that desperately needed new windows. We kept the original wood casings but the windows themselves were just too far gone. Time to get some quotes. I did my homework and came to the conclusion that Milgard "Tuscany" was the way to go. They offer a lifetime warranty and free glass replacement (for any reason). I read some previous positive reviews for Preferred on Nextdoor.com. They're Milgard dealers - a local family owned business with great customer service. I called and spoke with Tim the owner (really nice guy). He scheduled Tony to come out and measure our windows. We got quotes from 3 different companies for 12 windows. Preferred came in with the lowest quote, plus Milgard was offering a rebate. Win win. Also, Preferred only requires 10% up front. You pay the balance after all the windows are installed. We scheduled installation for a Saturday. The installers Alfredo and Manuel were great. They showed up, on time, cleaned up their mess, and hauled off the old windows. The next day we noticed one window had a small crack in the frame and a large scratch. Another window had a large scratch. I notified Tony at Preferred immediately and they reordered a completely new lower window for the one with the crack and scheduled Milgard to come out to replace the scratched glass in the other. For the record, those things weren't the installers fault, they came that way from Milgard. Great customer service. If you need really nice, middle of the road windows with a killer warranty and great customer service, call Tony at Preferred. You'll wonder why you waited so long! read more

I started the project with a trip to Lowe's and Home Depot and quickly got an idea that the windows would cost me - a couple hundred dollars each and the sliders would be a fair bit more. With that much information, I called four names in the industry and they were happy to come and provide me with estimates. I worked in the hifi industry for years and a standing joke was the Sony rep who died without ever knowing the end column price. He should have sold windows. The first company told me this was a $56K job BUT my today ONLY price was $9K less. It was hard to keep a straight face. A week later the price dropped to $47K and it never stopped falling. Two more companies used the same tactic. I had four "best" prices from one of them covering a price drop of almost $20K. Their windows were quality products but their warranties were't as good a Milliard's. And at three times the price, who cares? These are windows, not crown jewels. Reliable came out and gave me a price quote that was EXACTLY what I had expected. I saved a few bucks by paying cash but that was the end of the negotiation. Good product, a fair price with a great warranty and the promise of a MUCH FASTER installation with a crew that spoke English (and Spanish) - hotly debated by the other three companies. The installation of thirty windows and two sliders took a day and a half. The crew was meticullious and it was a pleasure to have each one of them in my house. The trash was gone, the windows were carefully washed, and they did things that went well beyond the call of duty. My front door now closes properly. Some slider blinds were raised to clear the new flooring. So, how are the windows? I LOVE them. The house stays fifteen degrees cooler and I don't use the air. Open at night, close up and I can keep 73F downstairs and the low 80's upstairs. I expect the same sort of results in the winter. The fit and feel of everything is about as good as it gets. Solid and tight...OK. the little tiny bathroom window will tilt up a bit if you try to close it from the bottom. What a defect! I can't recommend Reliable and Milguard highly enough. I wanted to wait a month before writing and all I got was more competitive "today only" offers for their "really best prices." Some folks can lie better than others tell the truth. If you don't choose to deal with Milguard and Reliable, give yourself at least a month to hear the final best offer. Or maybe it just keep getting better? read more

Excellent service. We had an 8' wide vinyl patio door installed. They showed us two selections (vendors) and took their time answering all our detailed questions (we are DIY-ers). Very professional staff, accurate on their facts and they arrive at the scheduled time for measuring and installation. Installation was VERY professional (amazing, in fact). Took only 2.5 hours, start to finish. Clean work...insulation was shot in before the trim went on. Trim was cut and fit beautifully. Caulking was CLEAN. Victor and Hugo were terrific. Pricing: I live in the Riverside/Colton area, so I did the duty to get other bids. I had some of those bids tell me "You better take that" when I told them the bid I got from Preferred Windows (didn't mention their name, just the price PW quoted). Two bids said they couldn't come CLOSE to the price that PW gave us. We chose Milgard and I looked up the lifetime warranty online. I also wanted to see (in the warranty) what was offered for the next home owners, if I sold the house. It's all there...they'll enjoy a 10 year warranty from the date they own the house. We definitely scored big with Preferred Windows. And in addition to ALL this, we are seeing a nice difference in our cooling costs. read more

We had a total of 29 Windows and 2 Sliding doors that needed to be replaced. I had Called Tim from Preferred Windows and Doors for an estimate with 3 other companies in Jan 2014. Of the 3 he was the most honest, straight forward and polite. His estimate was $10,000 cheaper than California Showcase(did a great job for my family in Riverside and we were referred to them) and a couple of other companies that were based in Ontario. He also told me there was a 5% discount on paying cash for the install due to which I decided to wait till August and collect the money before proceeding with the project. During the 8 month period Tim's was the only company that did not invade my privacy and when I called him back he actually remembered us. He returned to re do the measurements almost immediately and hardly made any change in the price at all. The windows were delivered in 2 weeks after I placed the order (He originally told me 3 weeks) His crew was over the very next day and finished my project in 1.5 days. All his crew was polite, respectful and very knowledgeable. They re installed my blinds/ window treatments and just whizzed through the whole project at an amazing efficient speed. They cleaned up after themselves and now we have all new Double paned Milgard Windows (Tuscany line) which really makes my house cooler, quieter and newer looking at a price and service that could not be outdone. I will be referring everybody to these guys and only use them for any future projects. read more

We have purchased front windows and interior doors, trim, and casement from them, but always did the install ourselves. They are easy to work with, detailed, professional. We decided to hire them for install of our French doors due to the complexity of the job. They did an excellent job. The salesman was accurate in his measurements, the workers were friendly, clean, and did a quality install. Zero problems with it. They left behind a packet with our receipts, door info, and warranty. They also followed up with a thank you card. I received a recommendation from a friend about this company. I wanted to get all new windows and doors for my house. We applied for an estimate online and set up an appointment over the phone for them to come out and look everything over. After waiting an hour past when they were supposed to be here, I called to see what the status was and the only response I got was, "well I don't see you on our calendar." Not one apology or even comment to reschedule initially. The person on the phone did not seem to care whether they got my business or not!
