Made an appointment and took the car to Prela at 8AM. GAVE them parts for hub assemblies and drum brakes and asked them to check a bushing. At 4pm the same day I had received no word and called to check on the status and cost of the repair. The woman seemed bewildered when I mentioned my name, car and work that I requested. Put me on hold for 10 minutes and then told me because it was so busy that they could not get to my car today. I asked why she hadn't called me earlier? "sorry" she replied, "its been busy". Needless to say, I had taken a day off from work to get the work done. I arrived at 5PM to pick up the car and none of the mechanics offered an explanation. Car not even touched!! After reading all the negative reviews of their work I should have known better. If your in Bayside keep looking for mechanical work elsewhere!!! I needed to got my insurance inspection done and decided to go here based on reviews. However I pulled into the parking lot of the shop because I didn't want to block the lane of in coming cars. Instead of nicely letting me know it's valet parking, he was really rude and said " you're blocking the driveway, pull outside if you don't know." I pulled my car out of the parking lot and left. Worst shop in the world. I found out they put used parts in my car. One of the mechanics kept telling me to junk mu car because its garbage. So rude. They would take 20 minutes or less to do a repair on my car. The owner has an attitude. My car is burning oil and they couldn't help me so they kept fixing other parts that weren't broken and replacing them with used parts. If I had the time I would sue them but I want to warn other people. The only nice guy that used to work there is Vaso. They are thieves. So my boyfriend dropped of his car yesterday morning, 2/12. Long story short he had to leave his car overnight because he had to go to work etc etc. So last night after my boyfriend got out of work he was driving home with his dad and to his surprise the car in front of his at 1:00 am, yes that's correct ONE IN THE MORNING. When he approached the mechanic in his car he said he was going for a 'test drive'. He followed the car back to the shop to find that the driver/mechanic was STONED DRIVING HIS CAR. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!! He has given this place a number of chances after the first incident where someone smoked a cigarette in his car!!! This is unacceptable behavior and needs to be addressed by someone in management ASAP. I am shaking writing this review as I am furious and would like others to be aware of who they trust their car with. read more

These guys are awesome!! To make a long story short, my power steering was making a crazy noise and I brought my car in to see if they could help. Right away they point out a rare problem and help me right away. I thought it was gonna be a $600-700 repair and walked out paying $35 with a fixed problem. I had a photo inspection done here in August, just found out my insurance was suspended because they never sent the photo inspection to my insurance company. This place is great! I am so happy I decided to use Prela to replace my struts and tires. Tony was kind and more importantly patient as I had a list of questions and concerns which were all addressed, except for one item which was very expensive for what it is (TPM valve) so he didn't install it and simply charge me without asking like some other garages might. Instead he gave me the option of going to buy it elsewhere if I can find it cheaper, and even offered to install it for free since I was a first time customer! Bottom line: money well spent and the ride is a LOT smoother, as promised by Prela. I will definitely be coming back the next time I need any work on my car!!! read more

It hurts me to write this review. My family and I have been customers for years and had 4 cars with them. They did right by us always, except this time. My transmission blew, in July of 2012. It was fixed, but 6 months later it started to go again, and I'm aware of how fickle transmissions can be. So instead of my father, who normally likes to handle all my car dealings, I went. I knew it was the transmission but no one listened to me. Over a day later, I had heard nothing from them, so I called. The owner said I was right it was the transmission but no need to fix it, I could drive it like that for a while. I said, well, no, I have to take a trip for business next month and the car will be a few hundred miles from here. It has to be proper and it's still under warranty as by the time I was able to bring it in, the repair was done 7 months ago. After that little attempt to talk me out of it I was told, ok but that means we have to keep it longer...which is fine by me. I agreed. The next day I received an odd call. "Do you have collision insurance on your car?" ...The people he sent my car to parked my car on the street under an obviously dead tree the day a storm was supposed to arrive. My car was totaled. The shop offered nothing insurance wise, but the owner of Prela told my father he'd try to make sure they did the "right thing." I spoke to the same person and his only answer to me was "well what can you do?" Whether or not anything could have been done, I don't see how it's professional to change your story as though father and daughter don't speak ...So, I bring my car to the shop, they total it, and then I have to pay a deductible to have it further destroyed? Top it off, I lost work because I couldn't get to my clients and when it got ridiculous I had to rent a car. I didn't expect them to replace my car or anything, but as a former store manager, I had higher hopes as to how a loyal customer would be treated or responded to. Thankfully, I had the help of former business associates and my insurance adjuster (go figure) to help me through the process. Unfortunately, I never heard anything from Prela again. read more

After calling to see if they offered pre purchase inspections, the owner let me know I could bring it in and they could take a look for free. I didn't end up going, bought the car stupidly without having a mechanic.
