They were very understaffed, though I sat at the bar so I had undivided attention. I enjoyed a Casamigos Blanco with tonic while I waited for my salad and helped the bartender with orders. This was our 2nd time to the reopened Prelude. Our first visit was 2 months ago and the food and service were quite good. Last night was our 2nd visit which turned out to be a slap stick comedy of errors the likes I've never experienced in any restaurant anywhere ever. The entire fiasco was a front of house house-of-cards which was unfortunate because the servers were really trying, very apologetic about the snafus and delays ands quite calm considering the chaos of the storm they unleashed. Before going any further, let me say the kitchen did an excellent job at their end in that the food was as good as our 1st visit. No complaints there. So this is how the meal went. The 4 members of our party arrived 5 minutes early and sat down with 2 1/2 hours to dine. Drinks were ordered by all and a beer and wine arrived inside 10 minutes. 30 minutes after ordering the drinks, our first server disappeared to help behind the bar, nobody was coming by our table and so I got up to go and find out where our 2 cocktail orders stood. They were "next" after my query. The 1st cocktail showed up 5 minutes later but my dry martini was delayed because I hadn't been asked which gin I preferred. With that question answered, the martini showed up around 40 minutes after ordering. I'd never seen mint as a garnish for a martini and, sure enough, it was some sweet concoction. So, again with no servers coming by our table, I got up and went to the bar to query what drink I'd been served. The bartender wasn't sure so I went back to our table and returned to the bar with the drink. The bar tendered tasted the drink and proclaimed it a Lemon Drop. Maybe yes, maybe no on the Lemon Drop but it definitely wasn't a martini. While I'm traipsing back and forth to the bar, I overhear another patron at the far end of the bar proclaiming that his martini wasn't a martini either. The bartender made him another which was served up as a nice rose colored drink. Odd. After making a few more inquiries, another patron at the bar informed me that they had no white vermouth. The rose colored drink was a Red Martini made with red vermouth. I wasn't much interested in a sweet version of a dry martini so the bartender suggested gin and tonic. Not quite a dry martini but better than a sweet one and I finally had a drink in hand (while giving up on any notion that I might order a glass of wine with my dinner). Patrons at another table asked me if I would straighten out their drink order but our salad order had arrived. As previously stated, the kitchen did a good job and the salad was quite nice. We also said nothing about the undelivered appetizers we'd ordered figuring we'd enjoy them with the mains. It took awhile before anything arrived after the salads. We did watch multiple servers walking around with plates of food trying to figure out which table it belonged to. That did not fill us with confidence which turned it to be good. 3 entrees arrived to our table and, after some server confusion, the missing appetizers also arrived. 20 minutes passed before we asked a server about the 4th and missing entree. It took a couple more tries before the missing entree arrived. It was lukewarm and had probably been sitting in the kitchen a bit. The clock was ticking so we made do. Nearly 2 hours into our meal, we called for our bill. It took 30 minutes to straighten out the bills. The 1st one presented had literally nothing we had actually ordered so we sent it back. The 2nd bill was ours (including the gin and tonic plus the never received martini) but it was not split as we'd requested 2 hours earlier and were assured would be no problem. Big problem. It took a bit but we finally got our half of the bill only to realize the other 2 at our table had already had their CC run against our 1/2 of the bill. As our 1/2 was actually 2/3rds of the bill, we had to get that corrected in fairness to our dining companions. In the end, we paid our 1/2 including for the never received martini. It was either eat the cost of the martini or risk missing the start of the concert. As it was, we made it to our seats with 2 minutes to spare. In summary, it was a truly epic meal. We will go back and try Prelude again but our next go will hopefully be epic in a more typical and expected way. read more

Met at reception by a harried host who asked if we had a reservation. told her we just dropped by to have a glass of wine. Asked us to wait while she checked w the bartender! Peaked around the corner to see that there were only 2 people at the bar and no one sitting in the lounge. Bartender welcomed us to have a drink. When I asked about our initial greeting he said there seemed to be confusion about purpose of the bar and who was in charge about making decisions. While at the bar we saw the host turn away 2 other couples who came in for a drink prior to the concert. Prior to Covid the Prelude bar was a vibrant place prior to concerts. The place is in desperate need of some professional mgmt to improve customer service and maximize revenue from the bar and lounge area. read more

We were really excited to see this restaurant reopen after a very long closure. We used to enjoy coming here to relax over an excellent dinner before attending a concert. This time the food was good - we had branzino and shrimp alfredo - but the service was positively appalling. Wait staff repeatedly tried to serve us dishes we didn't order. No one replenished our water glasses. And we didn't receive our drinks until after all 4 of us had competely finished our dinners. We reminded our waiter at least 5 times, but I don't think we ever would have received our beverages if my husband hadn't gone to the bar himself. He spent a good 10 minutes there, but the bar staff were completely flummoxed. They had no idea what they were supposed to serve or how to do it and they seemed unable to communicate even between each other. My husband's 1st language isn't English, I have no problem with anyone speaking another language, ever, but when it comes to customer service, it would be best to employ staff with basic communication skills. When they can't even communicate between themselves in any language, there's a big problem. And really, cheetos, fritos and pretzels as an appetizer? Now that I think about it, 2 stars might be generous. Prelude management needs to hire more wait and bar staff, train them, and keep a competent, experienced manager on site during open hours to oversee operations and assist customers and staff alike. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to find a such beautiful restaurant in Rohnert Park. Easy parking, a lot parking spaces, because its connected with Green Music Center. Perfect for enjoying a meal and quality time with family and friends. It's not just the ambiance that impressed me, but also the incredible food, the Pork chop served with Japanese Okinawa purple yam puree and the tenderloin served the beets puree were absolutely amazing. I've never a fan of veggies, but i loved those purees. The waitress definitely knows the foods well, we were informed that all the ingredients are organic and sourced from local farms. highly recommend this place. read more

We enjoyed our first dinner last night with friends at the newly reopened Prelude Restaurant adjacent to the Green Music Center. Prelude is a beautiful restaurant with both upscale indoor and casual outdoor seating. The menu and the service we received were both impressive. We started with the brussel sprouts appetizer. The combination of garlic honey, miso, and bacon lardon were blended perfectly. I am not a huge fan of brussel sprouts but these were exceptional. Our next course was the wedge salad that was served with Valley Ford blue cheese. Amazing! My entree was the Shrimp Alfredo which came with three large tasty tiger prawns in a garlic cream sauce. Our table shared the lava cake and the crème brûlée cheesecake for dessert. Both were a delicious way to complete our dinner. Prelude is still a few days away from obtaining its liquor license but we made due with their other drink options. The word is still getting out about this restaurant. It is a great on site option for dinner when attending an event at the GMC. It is just as good when simply looking for a special place here in Rohnert Park for an enjoyable dining experience. read more
