Bartenders are this perfect balance of sweet, open listeners and will take NO shit. Carrie and Katie are the best but Mama Jules always asks me how my day was :) They do an amazing job of supporting the local live music scene. Many bands would NEVER get a gig if there weren't places groups could cut their teeth at like Spanckys. That said, if you see bands coming back on the regular, it's because they got skills to pay the bills. Spanckys is the crown jewel of the Cotati Pub Crawl on Thursdays and Wednesday night Blues Night lets anyone join in for a night of fun. Ask about their Mocktail menu!!! read more

Was here for the Cotati Accordion Festival to hear some live Zydeco. The music was great! However the bartender (as well as many of the patrons) were not wearing a mask. We left due to that which was unfortunate as we really enjoyed the music. read more

Cool little dive bar. The drinks are strong and the music rocks. Just make sure you get in and out before the kids start rolling in on the weekends. But otherwise its decent for anything north of San Francisco. read more

I stopped in during the Accordion Festival to hear Zydeco music. I gave the place one star because the band California Blues Runners was great. I found the place kind of dirty with the tables with still spilt drinks on it. Most of the people were not wearing masks while inside but the most disturbing was that one of the bartenders was behind the bar without a mask. I thought all indoor venues were mask mandated. read more

Good drinks and good folks. If you're a woman and want someplace where security actually RESPONDS to some guy getting out of line with you, this is the place. It's a dive bar, so don't expect frills, but you should expect to be safe, to hear local music, and to have some laughs with the bar tenders. if i could give them a lower star rating i genuinely would. there was no bouncer at the door so my friends and i walked in as there was no sign of anyone. suddenly a man walks into the back of the bar and not only approaches rudely but lets us know that "none of us look old enough to walk into a bar"... I myself am 25, and my friends are 22, & 23. He refused to apologize and had a horrible look on his face the whole time. It was very rude and made me feel really unsafe as a woman/a person who is going somewhere that not everyone is sober. His name was "Jacques" pronounced like Jack. read more

Definitely will never go back to this nasty bar. They have NO soap or toilet seat covers in the bathroom. How do your employees wash their hands? There were at least 3 employees working there that night. There is black mold everywhere in the bathroom and cobwebs. I definitely would not order beer from the tap here, as they probably do not ever clean their draft lines. I was there for a live show where the "owners mom" as she announced herself in the middle of the bands set told the band to "turn down". After that, the evil old ladies tending bar wouldn't serve the band. ITS LIVE MUSIC. Why did you invite a band to plat at the bar if you didn't want it to be loud? Oh.. and I have the flu now. Spancky's Is one of those good old dive bars that are so fun to visit. It's a place to visit with friends, reconnect with old ones, or make new ones. It's not for all types, nothing suits everyone. But, I've noticed that the majority of these negative reviews all happened around the same time period. Maybe a slump. But, I hope people don't judge the establishment based solely on these reviews. It's a great place to play pool, mingle or dance to some great live music. Something that can be hard to find sometimes. read more

I had fun at the bar and the service isnt horrible but the line makes no sense, they slowly but surely let people in even when nobody would leave. Not the biggest deal but kinda wack. The reason this isn't a 4 is because this man with a "service dog" was blacked out acting a complete fool and his dog was nowhere near a service dog, it was nibbling on peoples shirts and sniffing everything. He also was holding him up walking through the crowd i was baffled just standing there watching in disbelief. Seemed to be friends with the employees there, either way the guy was drunk enough to be kicked out of any bar, and his dog is not a service dog, or at least not a trained one for that matter. read more

For my friends bachelorette party we ended up staying here the whole night. There wasn't much of a crowd, but on the other hand that was nice because we got the whole dance floor. Shocker but the stripper pole in front of the DJ area is always occupied by somebody. Even me at one point, I got pulled up by a drunk lady. But it was a lot of fun. My friend the bride to be had a blast dancing up there with her sash and crown, we had her wearing. This was a fun place to spend the night celebrating. read more

This is one of my favorite bars in the county. I've noticed some negative reviews saying the place is dirty and so on. If you want a spectacular looking bar head over to Napa and pay $35 for a drink. Spankys is a great bar to come to on any day and prices are great especially when they have deals going on. Came here for a beer on a weekday afternoon hoping for some ideas for a novel as far as location. Figured where better to ask about local off the beaten trail locale than an empty bar while everyone else is at work. The bartender did not disappoint and tolerated, even encouraged my question. Wow. I used to party here but it's been awhile. Thank god for the good music. When I asked for a martini (big mistake) bartender literally blew into the shaker to get the dust out after giving me an irritated look. Bathrooms are a mess at 7pm so go before you get there. read more

Very rarely in fact never would you see me in a bar at 10:00 am with a bunch of screaming college students, but if I had to be in one, this was the one. Spanky's was so much fun and we celebrated Christy's graduation with the best Bloody Mary I ever had with the best, and I mean best bartender around. Jules, you are the bomb! Kind, compassionate, and totally endearing, she made my first trip to Spanky's the absolute best. Thanks again for being such a sweetie! My friend and I chose this bar in part because it was fairly empty so we could easily talk and get to the bar, what we came to discover was that we would have been better served at a busier bar. We went up to the bar and the bartender brusquely asked "what do you want?" To which we asked, "Are there any bar specialties?" And she responded "THAT'S THE WEIRDEST QUESTION I'VE EVER HEARD!" That was the weirdest response I've ever had, what bar doesn't have a specialty drink or at least a suggestion at what she as a bartender does especially well? She was very rude and on her phone for the rest of the night making this bar a one drink bar, and a quick drink it was... They had Jalepeno Vodka which she let me try on the house but even that was served rudely... I'll drink elsewhere, thanks. read more

A couple months ago my sister, friend and I decided to do the Cotati Crawl on a random Thursday night. We went here first and it was pretty much deserted. Cheap drinks (they had a special on jager bombs) We left for about an hour but after we came back, the place was much more alive. They had a DJ and the stripper pole set up on stage. Every request we made, the DJ played so no complaints!! Spent the rest of the night dancing and dancing on the stripper pole. Next time I'm in the area, I'll be sure to return. read more

Great place. Every one of the employees is curtious. I lived in the area for many years but had never went into spanckys ....not sure why. When i did i met some great people. Comedy night is very cool and they have alot of great local and an occasional big bands play on their newly enlarged stage....usually every Friday and Saturday night. Also have 7pm jam sessions during the week when you hear all sorts of good tunes. They have snacks to curb a quick hunger fix and almost all the businesses surrounding them deliver their food....just ask the bartender for one of their menus....there's a drawer full of them. They'll also recommend a place or dish that suits your craving. Alot of beers on tap....plenty of great drinks... like Moscow mules in the copper cup is a popular one. read more

The worst service I have ever experienced. I believe her name is Dee she works at night and she is so rude and grunts at you and will mess up your tab and over charge you and write HER OWN TIP. Overall a horrible experience we only go here when 8ball is too crowded read more

The proprietor was behind the bar when we dropped in, and after we cleverly divined his name, he talked to us like old friends and was plenty accomodating in providing a RoPo transplant a brief explanation of the Cotati Crawl and the illustrious history of Cotati+Accordions ["There's a lot of it, the history. That's all I know." : ] There's a billiards table in the back, and if you chat up the bartender he might even set you up with some free games and music on the juke box. The back room is not cut off from the rest of the bar, but nicely separate for a private group - perfect for conversation or to step away from anything going on on the stage, and there's still perfect access to the wraparound bar! read more

This place is a nice live music venue - Plus, its the one place on the Cotati Crawl where there are people who are over the age of 25, lol. Sometimes the bands that play can be amazing! Other times, they are only so so...The drinks are fine and they have a really fun game room in the back! Nice little place! read more
