There are 3 big projects for which we contracted with Zarco Landscaping, because they continually performed above and beyond on the work. The first project was for a room that would flood when it rains. The team at Zarco quickly diagnosed the problem as poor gutter placement and cracks in concrete on the floor above, and they worked rapidly to connect a new sewer system and rebuild our concrete walkway. There has been no more flooding. The second project was to improve the terrain and usability of our backyard, which is on a hill that was very difficult to navigate. The Zarco team completely transformed the area, building stone steps and leveling the land with premium soil, mulch, and stone. Please see the attached photos (we wish we had before pictures, but it was all dirt and invasive plants before on a steep incline)! Lastly, our third project had to be done rapidly after the recent storms in the bay area. We needed three very large and dead trees removed that were at risk of falling on our house or the street. The Zarco team came the next day to remove all of the trees. Overall, the Zarco team has always delivered amazing service and treated us with respect. The prices are also very reasonable and competitive with quotes we received from other businesses. Gerardo and Vista Landscaping are Exceptional…read more Over the end of last year, I've worked with Gerardo and Team at Vista to plan and then execute a massive backyard remodel. The scope was extensive: a large, engineered two-tier retraining wall, large French drain all around my backward, new patio, backyard fence, fire pit with guilt in gas line, front year leveling, front yard fence (curved), new sprinkle system, all new planting including several trees and integrated lighting. The work was intense, requiring months of jack hammering and meticulous concrete work. During the time, Gerardo was a true professional. He sought feedback and guidance when useful, but also of course took care of everything as issues came up including handling countless very detailed and tedious permit reviews. He is transparent with pricing, communicates very effectively, and holds himself and his team to a high-quality standard. The result? Our yard is incredible. After meeting with a…read morecouple of other designers who either wanted to completely redo our front/rear yards or were super expensive (one company had a minimum job fee of $15,000!!) our plans to fine tune the back yard & redo the front yard had been put on hold. After a young driver in a big pick up truck plowed through our front yard on a rainy day, the search was on again to redo the front yard in a way that would also provide some sort of safety barrier. Juliana came to the rescue with incredibly artistic & creative designs for the front & rear yards. For the front yard, with the use of metal gabion boxes filled with large rocks, they will provide a structural safety barrier while also looking artistic (pictures to follow once they're installed). She also has vast knowledge of unique plants which will complement our Spanish style home. For the rear yard she came up with great solutions for helping us incorporate more seating & more privacy by changing a few layout features as well as supplementing existing bamboo & plants. Our other design challenge with the back yard which Juliana creatively solved: We have dogs who are tormented by squirrels running up & down our redwood tree. In an effort to keep our dogs from climbing & chewing the tree we've had a makeshift wooden barrier at the base of the tree which is none too attractive. Juliana is going to build a wood surround to protect the tree but which also adds an interesting design element to the yard. I wish we'd had the foresight to hire a designer from the get go rather then doing bits & pieces on our own only to redo our work since it didn't quite deliver. It is money well spent to hire a designer. Either way, thanks to Juliana we're super excited to get our yards projects implemented!

Unlike some others, he was never pushy and that made me feel more comfortable about working together going forward. He estimated that the entire project (leveling the backyard, building a short wall, French drain, and adding gravel) would take 2 weeks and they finished ahead of schedule. The crew installed all the plants, decomposed granite, and irrigation perfectly. Our architect also commented that she really liked the crew and that Juan in particular was very knowledgeable. Not to mention Juan is just a really nice guy and was open to the small changes we had to make as we were doing installation. In total it took three weeks to complete the entire project. His crew was great and Juan also works with them, he doesn't just only project manage. He was here all day nearly every day with the crew. It's a small company but they do great work, pay attention to detail like grading, and clean up after themselves every day. They did such a good job, after he finished we asked him to help redo a fence later as well and also continue to come biweekly to maintain the yard.
