I went back and forth 4.88 and 5.29 I have 2018 Tacoma SR 4 door 4x4 31 in. tires After changing my mind a couple times I went with 4.88s and Harrop E locker, glad I did I'm at 1900 rpm at 60 mph so same as the same truck with 33s and 5.29s. Just broke them in had my oil changed today and everything came out perfectly! I'm from OC I looked around for a while,almost went with J&T gears In HB that guy is rude,angry and did not even know Harrop made a locker for Tacoma he wanted to charge me more than Premier and wanted to put a trutrack limited slip. Anyway I chose this shop because they do so many Tacoma's These guys do Tacoma's all day everyday. Miguel is real good guy that truly cares about what they are doing and there customer service is awesome. Also after they installed my gears they took my truck over to Jr to install the harness for my locker and he did an amazing job, very clean work! I brought my Tacoma into Premier West Gear yesterday for and upgrade from 4.30 to 5.29 gears. They ordered the parts from Nitro Gear for me and were great with questions and communication. I was told they have been at their current location for 8 years and the business was started around 30 years ago by the father. I had a couple of the sons doing the work on the my truck and say it's pretty cool to see a family shop still knocking it out of the park! I showed up before the shop even opened since I didn't have much else to do and as soon as they showed up and saw me waiting they started on it before the shop was supposed to open. At one point they had an entire crew working on it both front and rear diffs, and had the job done in close to half an hour!! They were extremely professional and very knowledgeable on the process along with a great recommendation on the break in period of the new gears. The drive home was amazing aside from the lengthy stops that have to be made for allowing the diffs to cool down, but that's just part of the process. I was extremely hesitant on rehearing even though it's kind of necessary after adding weight and larger tires to the truck just due to it being something you hear horror stories about depending on who does the work. Here that is not the case, they know exactly what they're doing and are damn good at it. So far I've had conversations with multiple other Tacoma owners that have had their trucks into Premier West Gear for re gears, and locker installs with nothing but praise on the work done. A few months and a few thousand miles later and my Jeep Jks gears are still working great with no noise or anything, I went from 3.21 gears to 4.56 with a rear e locker and my gas milage has also improved about 2mpg and thats even after me driving a little faster on average with 35" wheels. The service could have been a bit more helpful and informative here. Got there early AM with my coworker to get both our trucks regeared and all that happened was asking who we are, what vehicle, and what gear brand and ratio. Took our keys and away our vehicle go. Doors kept closed from the waiting room, didn't show or bring out the gear we specified and placed deposit on over the phone just to see, couldn't watch the service being done, didn't see or wasn't told anything of what will happen to our original gear set. After the 500 mile break in is all said and done, I've noticed the front diff plug on my coworkers Tacoma was just overly torqued down that I had to use a breaker bar to get it loose. Fluid drained was almost a quart shy totaled from the front diff and rear diff from my truck and my coworker's truck. My truck I've noticed major marrings on the front drain plug as well as my Inner cup of both CV Axle marred up and bent pieces and no this was not from wheeling because nothing wouldn't have touched the inner cv cup like that. read more

These guys are great, knowledgeable and friendly. I just had my 2016 Tacoma re-geared after getting it lifted and big tires put on. I must of called three or four times asking dumb questions regarding what type of gears I should put in and other dumb questions . David ordered me my custom teraflex axle, teraflex outter pinion, did a bearing overhaul and found issues in my driveshaft he took it apart and sent it to repair shop.
