Found a HAKKA place in Milton!!! I hope it's good!!!!

I'm dying... really!!! I've been to maybe over 1400 places in the past 7 years (including attractions, functions, events, restaurants, bars, airports, hotels, lounges...) and I am at a loss for places to try in Milton Ontario!!! Milton has become my kryptonite to my FoodieWaze!!! I'm trying every place to just find one place I can call my go to Milton place! I was chatting with an associate and she told me there was a HAKKA Place and they had specials too! I'm down with that!!! I love my Hakka food back in the GTA. I must try this place. Made my way immediately and walked on it. Let's talk ambiance... hmmm.... Nope.. LOL. Was going to place an order and do take out but the place was kinda empty so I decided to do the right thing. Sit down and be a patron! Then again, I've had horrible luck being one of the only diners in a place... EEK! Let's hope this is diff right!?! The place is large for a Hakka restaurant. Most places are small and concentrate on pumping out take out at $10 a head. Well... I can tell you, I had about $10 worth of food here. That's the extent of it. The Chilli Chicken was off - the chicken itself tasted "chickeny" you know the odd taste when it's around the best before date and deep frying it and disguising it in a peppery gravy didn't disguise it kinda way... You know.. right!!! LOL! The hot and sour soup was ok, the tiny spring roll was the standard frozen one - just in case you were asking. Overall, was it better than a McDump Combo for the same bucks. Yes, almost anything is better than that. Will I return. 2.5stars. You figure it out. Kinda cheers...

I was super excited to have a new hakka place in town as we don't have many in Milton. However the overall experience wasn't great at all. So this place opened up in downtown Milton in place of Oshima the sushi place. So I had ordered us a weekend dinner when this place had just opened up. My mains were the noodles a chicken gravy and a sesame beef. I was super excited for the sesame beef as it is my favorite Hakka dish but theirs was so super hard-coated with so much flour barely any meat to it my daughter laughed it off by saying that we are eating old beef jerky. The noodles were standard nothing exceptional about them. The chicken I'm forgetting whether it was chili or Manchurian chicken but it lacked flavor and tasted pretty average. Overall 6/10 where food and taste is concerned. Portion size is good just like most hakka places. I had ordered over the phone and was asked to be there in 25 mins when go there they made us wait additional 20 mins..not sure this was the case since they had just opened up or what well even if that was the case this surely doesn't justify the delay. Since it is a local joint and I love supporting small businesses I may try them one more time and hopefully it's a better experience. Plenty of parking outside the place.

Ordered on a Friday night for takeout and the food was prepared quickly even though the restaurant was very busy. We ordered for four people however the amount of food that we ordered would serve 6-8 easily. This is the first time we tried haka food in Milton and I am happy we discovered it because it's so close to home. The portions are large and very saucy. I like that you can choose your own sauce based off of your preference. My favorite surprisingly was the coriander chicken since I've never had it before. I did expect the chili chicken to be more dry but it was delicious with rice. Also I highly recommend the haka Momo special because it comes with noodles and it is easy to share. Broth is also delicious on rice.

One star for the convoluted business that it is…read more So I arrived at the restaurant to take my mom out for a fun night of Egyptian food, the restaurant occupied two commercial units thought its very unusual why they don't unify it was one unit. One side is for takeout but patrons are sitting there to dine in and the other side is for dine in, but the employees also do take out. Confusing YES. So I arrived in blindly following a line. I eventually tapped the person behind me, is this the line to get a table. He says no it's the line to order... okay. About 20min in the line I finally get the deal what everyone is doing, they order their seafood order at the front where the precious alive seafood is stored- it's like a pick what you eat counter. So I order their sangarita with a salad and yellow rice and a calamari with no sides (you save like $4 for just skipping that). After ordering she asked if I had a table?? I said no, then she comes out with seven yellow sticky notes and says there are 6 parties waiting for a table. I asked how long? Maybe 40min. She also advises me that i can put myself on the list for a table and she can hold my order up to 45min- they won't start cooking until you have a table. So I asked how long for takeout, she says 20min. Well I did my math, I waited 20min in line, and 20min for food that is not partially cooked so 40min, I can live with that. Watched the server rip the slip, and just fyi the fish was charged at $35/kg costing $60 and the calamari at 1lb was $22. She asked me to wait on the side, saw her put the slip with the raw fish and placed it ON THE FLOOR behind the counter. As I waited on the side I can see quite a number of orders piled in Rubbermaid containers on the floor. Behind the counter I can see the coats of the employees piled up next to what looks like to be the washed cutlery for table service and the employees use the same yellow rag to wipe every cutlery. I also saw employees clear the tables and return to prepare more cutlery- did they wash their hand in the kitchen??? I was then prompt to pay on their pay unit. It prompted me tip. SKIP tip for takeout. Then she tells me it's 2% charge if I pay credit card no charge for debit. So I pay debit. I waited patiently, I stood near the washroom and overheard how a male customer found a $100 bill in the washroom and handed it to the restaurant- they didn't even ask around if anyone dropped it. Then when I had waited 30min (10min past the estimated time, I asked for an update ). They assured me 10 more minutes. Then after 10min I asked again, they said 1min. And then they came out with my take out. The gave me a complimentary hummus for the slow service, but I don't think it made up for the undersized sides they served me. Just look at my pic and look at the website photo. Overall , if you have 2-3hours this is your place. THIS PLACE WAS ABSOLUTELY CHAOS! I'm questioning food stored on the floor even though it's in a Rubbermaid and then that bin placed back on the scale, touched by the gloved hands and potentially cross contaminating food. During the whole time I didn't see anyone clean or mop the floor- what if people are trekking sidewalk salt in the winter. I am really concerned. Eat dangerously here if you want. I do say the food was seasoned well but won't be returning.

Me and my siblings got a food platter with lobster, rice, calamari and another platter that I forgot to take a picture of with rice and fish and salad. The sause was mermaid sauce? I've had this place saved for the longest time and was waiting until I'm in the area to dine here…read more Finally made it and I'm so glad I tried it. First off, women-owned café? You go girls I love it. Came here for dinner and had a hard time choosing what to order as there are so many good options on the menu. Really wanted the calamari & shrimp appetizer but opted in for the shrimp bucket and the fish and chips. I also got a coconut mango drink which was super refreshing and delicious. I thought the fish tacos had a kick of spice added but they were still good. The fries were crispy, which I loved but the highlight for me has to be the shrimp. I loveeeeed the sea salt sauce. Though I usually don't like corn, I loved this one and enjoyed the meal. Would come back here for more for sure!

They double has a cafe. I love the decor! Very open, spacious, dark in a nice way, with a gorgeous sign at the back center wall. Staff are friendly and quick to check on you. The food was ok! I wouldn't say it was my favorite, and I wasn't quite blown away with anything. I would come back for certain things though. Starting off with the salad, the dressing had a texture and taste that I can only tell you was not made fresh in house. It had that sort of translucent quality to it that reminds me of bottled sauce. Portion was good, but I wish they would toss it for you. The bowl is full of salad and they drizzle the dressing on top. It's a thick dressing that's pretty hard to toss in the bowl. It's a minor thing but honestly would be a much better dining experience. Also if they just made their own ceasar dressing. The seafood boil was also meh. I got half pound mussels with Cajun sauce. It comes on a platter with rice, potatoes and corn. I felt that it would be nice if you could pick your own sides, like at other seafood boils. The potatoes had no flavor inside them and the corn was really starchy and rough, with no corn flavor. It was a bit off putting. The sauce was ok, but I think they use too much seasoning powder, or over cooked the garlic because it was leaving a bitter flavor behind. I didn't love it by the third bite. The fish and chips were probably the best of what we ordered. It's the Costco fries texture which I love!!! Plus the fish is cooked well. The batter is very light and crispy. Total perfection! So yeh!! I would highly recommend the fish and chips, but I would probably skip the boil here.
