Love the selection of alcohol. So far, I've only had nigiri. Highly recommend their tuna nigiri sampler. I got a couple of pickled things and salads and they were amazing. Squid salad goes crazy. Cannot wait to come back and try the fried foods.

**June 2026: Saturday Afternoon Visit**…read more I regularly visit the Yama in Alhambra and usually pick up salmon, yellowtail, and tuna sashimi, so I was excited to try this Los Angeles location since it offers bento boxes. I ordered the Yama Sushi West LA Bento Box Classic California ($18.49) and also added a salmon nigiri sushi a la carte to share ($19.49) since I'm a huge fan. The bento box was more than enough food, and I even had leftovers, which made it feel like an especially great value for the price. The bento box came with a Yama California roll, a refreshing somen noodle salad, and a generous serving of hot chicken katsu making it a really balanced meal. Everything felt priced appropriately for the quality and assortment, and I appreciated that it offered a healthier, more diverse lunch option. The market has a couple of two top tables inside and outside, plus a clean bathroom, which made the visit comfortable. Parking was okay. They have a small lot available for patrons. Overall, I'd definitely come back for another good, healthy meal.

I noticed a…read moreshort, older Korean man with gray hair standing by the meat section, so I asked him about the pork cut I wanted. I felt a wave of fear as if he might hit me. He told me they don't sell that cut here and suggested another one instead. I was considering buying the cut he mentioned, so I asked if the two cuts tasted very different. Then he trembled his lips and angrily said, "I told you, we don't have that here! Don't talk about things we don't sell!" His eyes were filled with anger. I can't tell if he has anger management issues or feels inadequate, but if he's going to treat customers like that, he should just stay inside and cut meat! His glaring eyes completely ruined my morning.I really hope they provide better training for their staff. Just because he's older, does he think he can treat customers poorly? Is this the only Korean Market in LA?

Used to frequently buy while living in LA but lately come by only have business and errands. Times hqve changed and the owner went greedy. For few months have observed the weekly specials on Korean site and visited the market. Found the items on sale, mostly children's cookies and snacks, refrigerated items like Korean sausages made from pork, bean pastes, etc are either expired or near expiration. From kimchi to side dishes, they are gross. Used to have Korean middle aged women doing the food prep and cooking but now it is all non-Koreans doing the "Three Stooges" act behind the counter. No help, no assistance, useless. Making a disgrace to Korean food. Not that the place looks any cleaner. No wonder the business is better at California Market even though typically it is a buck or two more. Meat, seafood, produce, and prepared food are better quality, the items are better displayed and looks cleaner.

Long Time Customer Experience I've been coming here for…read moreyears. This is the spot my family has always trusted for fresh chicken. When I was younger, you could actually see the chickens in the back (everything was blocked from view, but you'd hear the machines). Now everything is closed off, but the chicken still tastes fresh and the quality seems the same. My mom swears it's the best chicken you can get. Product Quality & Variety I mostly buy the chicken, but they sell other meats and products too. I've seen duck eggs, regular eggs, and different cuts of meat. Even though I haven't tried their beef, everything looks fresh. Prices can be a little on the higher side, but the quality makes up for it. Food Service Service is always quick and straightforward. You tell them what you want, they get it fast, and you're out. There's usually only one or two people ahead of me, and only during holidays does it really get packed. They accept Apple Pay, cash, and EBT, which is super convenient. Hours & Convenience The only downside is the early closing hours usually around 5 p.m., and Sundays/Mondays even earlier at 1:30 p.m. Also, parking is rough. It's hard to find a spot, so we usually go in pairs: one person gets down, the other loops around the block. Ambiance It's a small, traditional Hispanic-style meat and poultry market. Everyone there speaks both English and Spanish, and it has that classic, butcher shop feel. It's clean, simple, and focused on the meat...nothing fancy, but familiar and efficient. Overall Fresh chicken, fast service, friendly staff, and long time trust from my family. Parking and early closing hours are the only real issues. But for quality, this is still our go-to spot.
