    Matcha Azuki Pancake

This was our first time in this establishment. We arrived early so there was no wait, we sat immediately and placed orders for sweet and savory pancakes The drinks were very sweet, we wish we knew, we could have ordered with less sugar . Everything else was so delicious. The decoration was very pretty and the ambiance was quiet. You could enjoy a nice conversation without loud music. The servers and the manager were very nice. Overall, we had a good experience and can't wait to bring my family

This place is so cute!! It's very trendy & bright. We came in to try their matcha, but they also serve a food and it looks Amazing! We will have to come back to try the food out. The matcha was absolutely delicious. I ordered the matcha (hot) with whole milk. It was soooo good bold, but smooth and a little sweet. My daughter ordered the Osmanthus tea and she said it was tasty and steep to perfection If you're in the area, you have to give this place a try. It has many to coffee, tea, and food. The service was great 10 out of 10.

Tatagi Coffee is a beautiful spot with a cozy but open concept and fantastic natural lighting. We were seated right away by a very welcoming host, and the view of the hills provides a perfect backdrop for a relaxed meal. The food was the absolute highlight. The Japanese-style mille-feuille pancakes have a unique melt-in-your-mouth texture that is really hard to find elsewhere; they are incredibly light and airy. I also noted but didn't yet try the omurice and tonkatsu, which are solid Japanese mainstays. We did have a small hiccup with the order; the ice cream for my kid was missed, and there was some confusion with the server when trying to correct the bill. However, the rest of the staff was so friendly and the quality of the pancakes was so high that it didn't ruin the experience. Definitely worth a visit for the atmosphere and those pancakes!

I went to the cafe around 3:00pm yesterday and it is a perfect place for grabbing easy snacks as fluffy pancakes and matcha We ordered the special set with one entree, drink and dessert The omelette rice paring with fried chicken was really really delicious and even my friend who rarely to have carbohydrates and he loved it We also ordered the hamburger steak but we felt the mashed potato was not our favorite because it didn't taste fresh The service is really good I highly recommended their fluffy pancakes and matcha latte The package is so airy and light and the matcha latte is very authentic and they match perfectly The whole cafe is very relaxing with Japanese vibe Parking is easy to find at street ( not rush hour )

Takagi Coffee | Coolest Japanese Cafe Vibes As we have different opinions on what's cool in LA, I just need to tell you the vibes from the moment you walk into TAKAGI, you just want to stay forever. The menu is filled with so many Japanese favorites from fluffy soufflé pancakes, layered parfaits, iced coffee jelly, matcha lattes, curry katsu and so much more. You want it all. Loved it so much and can't wait to go back.

Mango Pancakes with canned mango and pineapple. Not fresh wouldn't recommend. Off taste.

Not worth it. Horrible service and ok food. Waited over an hour to be seated though was quoted a 15-25 min wait. Then ordered mango pancakes which took over hour to arrive at the table. Then pancake had canned mango and pineapple, not fresh, overall an off taste not good. The chicken cutlet was good and the matcha latte and coffee were ok.

The location does not offer convenient parking nor space for families with small children (a toddler and a baby). We went on a Thursday morning and it was fairly busy. It took a while for our waitress to take our order: original pancakes, wagyu bento box, omurice weekday set, which includes a matcha latte and dessert pancakes. The matcha latte art was super cute but it was on a sweeter side. The best part about the omurice was the egg; two pieces of chicken karage were crispy but salty; the curry sauce was also salty for me. The pancakes were soft, fluffy, and eggy. The butter was hard to spread on the delicate pancakes (I was expecting the butter to melt on top tbh). We thought they forgot the wagyu bento box but why brought it out was we were finishing our foods. My husband thought his Wagyu bento box was salty. We ordered a side of berries because both kids inhaled the berries from the dessert pancakes plate. I found mold on two of the raspberries, which wasn't a big deal to us but then the waitress was like "no, it's not mold" then proceed to tak e the berries to the back to check then came back with two pieces of strawberries to replace the moldy ones. We decided not to go back because of the service. Water wasn't offered. My husband has to get up to get our silverware. We needed more water but staff did not check-in throughout our meal. All the little things in between making our dining experience difficult and the foods weren't outstanding enough to make up for the experience.

    Omelet rice with karage.

Overhyped. Food is expensive for it taste and quality. 2 hours waiting time. 30 mins for food to arrive. Food comes out in different times. Pancakes, then entre, then sides/appetizer. Pancake itself doesn't taste anything unless you put syrup in it. The omelet rice is salty. Ambiance is basic. Service is okay but can be better.

What a nice and cozy restaurant. From the minute I walked in I felt so welcomed and comfortable. The staff were amazing! I of course had to try their Japanese pancakes. I ordered the strawberry pancake which came with fresh fruit (strawberries and blueberries), whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, chocolate drizzle and almond slivers. The pancakes were so light and fluffy. The presentation was beautiful. You can tell they take pride in making their dishes. The menu has a lot of great choices to pick from. Parking can be a bit challenging since it's all street metered parking. I will definitely be back to try more dishes.

The pancakes were very good exactly what I was looking for! Service was also attentive.

Takagi Coffee Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Takagi Coffee

    Is the fried rice vegetarian?

They're very accommodating with food allergies/dietary needs. You may want to mention to the server upon ordering a vegetarian option for it.

Do they have any gluten free food options?

I think the rice omelette is gluten free. I'm not sure about the sauce but it seemed fairly gluten free

Can reservation be made or is it walk-ins only?

walk-in only. min 2hrs wait time

Do they have any vegan food?

They offer a tofu salad, avocado toast, and their Japanese vegetable pasta may be vegan.

    Are you guys dog friendly?

They allow dogs for patio-seating eating, but not in the restaurant (unless service dog I believe).

Not even 30 minutes later the whole place was packed. I ordered the Benedict Pancakes ($22) and the seasonal Biscuit souffle pancakes ($18). I also tried the Tonkatsu Curry ($16). For a drink I got the pot of Peach Momo Tea ($6). My benedict pancakes came out first. The souffle pancakes and the tonkatsu curry came out at the same time 30 minutes later. The benedicts weren't bad, but I probably wouldn't get them again. The yolk was solid and not runny and the pancakes were just normal flat pancakes, and they were kind of dry. The tonkotsu and the Japanese pancakes were way better. Both were very flavorful and nice and hot. For the tea pots you also get refills, so we got a lot to drink with that. For a two-person table, it was definitely too small to hold everything that we ordered. Luckily by the time the curry and the pancakes came out I was already finished with my benedict pancakes and was able to give it to them to clear out to make room for the other dishes. Service was good, the wait for the food was long but they were still attentive enough to get us what we needed. Once you get your food they try to get you out as quickly as possible since the longer it went the longer the wait outside was for a table. Overall it was a nice breakfast/brunch experience. It is a bit pricey, but some dishes are better than others. I would come back either for the Japanese pancakes or the curry. The tea was great too. I would probably skip the eggs benedict next time though.
