I loved my experience at Prep Coffee! I study here often and the service is always so great. I also really appreciated the free Wi-Fi and their vast menu selection! They have a nice ambiance and ample seating. Prep Coffee has a great coffee menu and even offers a full menu of food and pastries as well - I had the Cali Burrito (egg, avocado, jersey tomato, corn, roasted red onion, spicy salsa roja and queso blanco) which was very tasty and the Peanut Butter latte with oat milk which was so good and definitely a unique flavor that I have not seen anywhere else! The staff was super friendly, but I had caught them on a bad day, as the chef had left early due to a family emergency, and a shipment of food that was supposed to come did not end up coming. "Big City Coffee Small Town Vibes" This wonderful gem has quickly become my favorite coffee addiction. Truly what's not to love about this place. They have been constant with every order and the staff is incredibly friendly. My favorite beverage as of yet is the orange zest latte. This delightfully aromatic beverage packs a punch of flavor and caffeine; Refreshing and energizing yet creamy and comforting. The food for me a straight comfort. All things you would find for a quick grab in NJ: Egg and cheese sandwiches to breakfast burritos. My only con is their pastry section. Unfortunately from the few things I've tried it has been under backed or incredibly dry and dense. They did mention it was made in house so a little tweaking and I'm sure it will improve drastically. read more

I came here yesterday with my boyfriend when we were out in Spottswood, NJ as he was going to check out a truck for purchase in the area. A quick search on Yelp revealed few breakfast places around. We chose this one for a quick bite. I got the coconut matcha latte and the avocado toast with smoked salmon and boiled egg on top. He got a plain hot coffee and the Jersey burrito. I really enjoyed both my drink and meal. He seemed to enjoy his, too. The decor of the place was also very nice, and it was very clean. I can't say that I would come back because I don't live around here and don't often come to this area. I'm not a local but was in desperate need of caffeine while in the area! I stopped by Prep Coffee and was super excited to try the cereal milk latte, but it's only made with whole milk. I am lactose intolerant so alas, I was very sad, but the super kind barista gave me other suggestions. She also let me sample pistachio milk, which I've never had before! I ended up getting the coconut macaroon latte with oat milk, iced (which only comes in one size), and it was SO good. I don't always love coconut flavored things, but it was very refreshing and perfectly sweet and really did taste like a macaroon. The total came to almost $8 which made my wallet hurt a little but it was very worth it for this out-of-town treat. read more

I really love the cereal latte, it's super delicious. My boyfriend gets it full sweetness with whole milk and I get half sweetness with oat milk and it's so so good. I just visited Prep Coffee because I was in the mood for a Bacon, Egg and Cheese. It was on their website's "All Day Menu." Though they are open until 4pm and I stopped in at 1:45pm I was told the grill closes at 1:30pm, which is 2.5 hours prior to closing. Very disappointing as I went out of my way to try this place. I left to go elsewhere for lunch. I can't rate the food. Maybe I'll try it some other time but this left a bad taste in my mouth. Please update your menu to reflect this. read more

Amazing local coffee shop! Drinks, food, decor...all great. First time we went we had a peanut butter latte, a Keto coffee, a cold brew iced coffee, the ricotta pancakes and an omelette. We were so pleasantly surprised at the quality. The warm drinks were served at a temperature you can drink immediately, not burn your mouth on. The peanut butter latte is so delicious- just the right amount of peanut butter. The Keto coffee gave me the kickstart to to my morning that I needed. The omelette was seasoned just right and was the healthy option I needed that is so hard to find in this area. My husband devoured the ricotta pancakes - and was happy to find cinnamon butter as a garnish. The staff is super friendly, the baristas are very experienced and the chef is definitely a pro! Hidden Gem for me at least, food was excellent, I had the Salmon Avocado Toast, cranberry scone and Cool Protein Latte, all were fresh well prepared and the sweet stuff wasn't too sweet. They do have amazing pastries and in keeping with the time of year they have beautifully decorated spider and brain cupcake's. The treat inside the body of the spider was a munchkin. Today I went and paid almost $8 for a small iced something that was suppose to taste like cereal and I'm sorry it did not. It was bland and you couldn't taste the espresso or any real flavor. The atmosphere is great and the location is cool, but I will not be coming back. I usually go to my local spot that serves a real large cup, iced for $5. This is exactly what old bridge/matawan needed. Every experience at Prep Coffee has been nothing less than exceptional. The owners Sebastian and Valerie are a beautiful husband and wife living their dream; and you can tell. They put their heart and soul into every brew. My husband and i consider them friends now after only meeting them through their amazing coffee shop. They have truly changed the way we consume our caffeine. Sebastian is a professionally trained chef and has shared with us that he makes everything himself; from the simple syrups to the ganache for mocha items. The quality of his products far surpass any local chain coffee shop and bring some much love into every cup. I love that i can walk into prep before work and Sebastian or Val are ready with a suggestion for a new latte idea or coffee idea. Just the other day, Sebastian made me their zesty orange latte and shared that having it hot would open the aromas of the orange oil in the zest. It was the most epic cup latte of my life! Have been here a number of times already and can't say enough about how much my wife and I, and our two teenagers, enjoy the vibe, the staff, and the wonderful food and beverage offerings. The Avocado Salmon Toast has become a consensus, tried and true favorite for the fam. But I've recently tried the Chicken Salad Sandwich--pecans, cranberries, celery, black pepper, sour dough bread with toasted surfaces placed towards the INSIDE of the sandwich--sheer genius touch which totally transformed the eating experience and has made this my new personal favorite sandwich here. For breakfast, it seems I'll never tire of ordering the ricotta pancakes. The new pastry offerings that constantly evolve are a real treat as well...my gosh, the maple syrup bacon poundcake and the tres-leche poundcake were delights. And as far as beverages, I can't help but stop by every now and then just to grab a Zesty Orange Latte (phenomenal) or a Peanut Butter Latte (nice!). All that being said, I think what I've enjoyed most about our visits to Prep Coffee is that it's the kind of venue that up until this point, we haven't quite found in OB. Where there is a particular vibe that is simultaneously cosmopolitan but laid back, welcoming. Valeria and Sebastian certainly make you feel at home.
