Mushroom pizza with delicata squash, caramelized onions, sage, tolman and mozzarella cheese
    Meg C.

Hidden gem in Arlington Heights! Their menu is full creative pizzas, pastas, salads and dinner plates. Most dishes are influenced by what's in season from their local farm purveyors. They have a wide array of drinks - specialty sodas, sparkling teas, and a solid beer and wine selection. We tried the brussel sprouts, apple cheddar pizza, mushroom delicata squash pizza, and their signature chicken sandwich. Everything was thoughtfully prepared with high quality ingredients and unique flavors. Brussels were a touch on extra crispy side but tasty. My fav was the apple cheddar pizza and the chicken sandwich (which is huge btw). The pizza's sourdough crust had a nice crunch and chew - thin and strong, held the toppings well. The cheddar was melty, a bit sweet and nutty, and went nicely with the apples. The chicken cutlet on the sandwich was juicy, complimented by the sweetness of the tomato jam, and balanced by the pepper mayo and pickles. The service was welcoming and friendly, and the ambiance is casual, homey and unpretentious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was very easy to grab a seat, enjoy the meal, and chat with my friends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It looks like they also have a pretty cool take out business with prepared family suppers like chicken parm. I will be back to see what's new on their menu and try more things!

Came with my family on a whim. We almost didn't go since the available photos of the interior were a bit off-putting. We could not have been more wrong. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is amazing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is all homemade and you can tell. Everything we got was delicious, especially the pizza, the gnocchi, and the roast chicken. Easiest 5 stars of my life. Absolutely go here if you get the chance.

    Bone-In Pork Shank dinner

This is a 5-star foodie restaurant in Metrowest masquerading as a pizza joint. Very friendly service, delicious food & wine & very reasonable prices for what you get. We stopped by for dinner and ordered garlic knots, a calabria wine, bone-in pork shank (huge portion) and baby fern & mushroom pasta (with homemade tagliatelle pasta). All were delicious! Best food in Arlington!

    Friday night special pizza

First of all, the owners could not be nicer. Second of all the food is incredible. Now I will get into my story. Tonight our family had planned to go to a restaurant, but found out it was closed so I remembered that I had been wanting to try out this scratch food spot in the Heights. We piled the kids in the car plus one friend and arrived at the restaurant around 7pm. Literally no tables were full, but we didn't let that scare us because we know this restaurant does a good takeout business. We were told when we got to the counter we were told that we could choose a table, check out the menu, order at the counter, and they would serve us our food. I had already checked out the menu at home so it was easy to order. My daughter got butter noodles. My husband got the Friday night special pizza, we got a house salad with incredibly light ranch dressing. I ordered mushroom and spinach tagliatelle. The boys ordered tagliatelle, one with meatballs and one with a side of chicken breast. We also got the duck fat fries. I am really sad I did not take a photo of the house salad because it was absolutely gorgeous, but it was devoured so quickly I did not have a chance! We all enjoyed our meals. We were really impressed by the high-quality ingredients and the friendly service. The interior is not fancy or high end, but when we are taking tweens out for dinner, that is not what we are looking for. We just want a comfortable restaurant with really good food and friendly service and we found it at prep neighborhood kitchen.

The pizza dough is so good it must be made in house. Salad above average and it made us happy. Next time we will try other dishes.

Great pizza crust with tasty toppings. Nice people. It's a 15 minute ride each way but that much better than the closer options.

Last time I visited, I ordered their "Sea Dog" which they purport to be their special dish. I should have thought twice when the server told me it was "creamy," but they had a limited selection of food and I was very hungry--and, they made it seem like their signature dish! When it came, I immediately realized I had made a terrible mistake. One bite of the Sea Dog was all I could manage, as it was, in fact, very creamy, and very fishy. It was a very unpleasant eating experience, and I actually sent it back, which I almost never do. I will take some responsibility for ordering this dish, but I'm still puzzled by the whole thing. It was like creamy, fishy seafood mush enclosed in a sausage casing. The server did kindly offer to take it off our bill which I appreciated. On the bright side, the staff was very helpful and I really enjoyed the wine they recommended. I'd gladly come back for wine and the pleasant ambiance, but after the Sea Dog incident I'll probably stay away from their food for the most part.

I haven't personally tried their food, but my friend had the grilled cheese and thought it was great! This is a perfect spot for a girls' night, a date, or just to hang with a group of friends! I will say it's a bit tough being expected to tip 25% on an entire bottle of wine...although they no longer add the automatic gratuity, they have multiple signs encouraging people to tip and I did feel some type of way after we did not tip the full 25% on a bottle. The workers behind the counter aren't very welcoming or friendly and I did feel a bit judged for not tipping the full 25%. Hoping it was just in my head but it honestly didn't feel great. I hope they can work on their service because this place has amazing potential.

We had a good sized crowd so they basically gave us the run of one of the bar areas (we were in the wine bar). Table seating, couch seating and room to stand around. We ordered a big selection of various appetizers and everyone was very happy with the food. They had it all laid out and labeled nicely. Drinks were good, but you do have to travel bar to bar - wine at the wine bar, cocktails at the speakeasy, etc so grabbing a few drinks for others is a little more of a process - but I think this is better for a small group because you get that ambiance of whatever you're looking for. We're all pretty local and a fair amount of us had never been in before - but everyone was making plans to come back to hang out again. Pricing was very reasonable for a large group, will absolutely host another event here in the future.

My partner and I couldn't decide what to get from their a la carte menu so we ended up going for the four-course tasting menu instead ($85/pp), picking the omnivore and pescatarian options to see if we could try more items. We were actually a little underwhelmed at first, but the tasting menu got better and better after each course. The tasting menu started with some of their in-house pickles and ferments. We had some onion, green beans, and cucumbers, which I wished were crunchier. Each pickle had a good amount of acidity but I wouldn't have minded if the flavors were punchier. The first course of the tasting menu was a salad. Visually it just looked like a pile of lettuce, but they added a savory garlicky sauce and a sprinkle of asparagus salt that allowed the dish to feel refreshing and hearty at the same time. The radishes were crunchy, peppery, and delicious, and we were very pleased to find that many of the later courses also included raw radish. We ended up getting different dishes for the second course, one of which involved deep-fried arancini-like balls of risotto with a creamy sauce, and the other had a cold plant-based loaf served with a vibrant garlic sauce. Both dishes featured some fresh greens that balanced the carby heaviness. By the time we got to the third course, we realized that Forage makes their vegetables shine. The omnivore course came with a steak while the pescatarian course had a pan-fried fish, both of which were also available to be ordered a la carte. While we thought that the steak and fish were seasoned and prepared well, the vegetables stood out to us even more. They weren't prepared in any crazily innovative way but the chefs made the natural flavors of the vegetables shine in a way that complemented the rest of the dish very well. After the third course, we added one optional cheese course ($22/pp) that came with even more radishes. The hazelnut shortbread was super buttery and everything went well together. I was already feeling pretty full and was glad that we only got one cheese course instead of two. Finally, the fourth course had a maple semifreddo with seaweed crisps and a caramel nut sauce. This was amazing and something that I'll think about for a long time! I could really taste the maple flavor in the semifreddo, and the cold creaminess went so well with the salty, crispy seaweed and nutty, buttery caramel. The balance of textures and flavors in the dessert was excellent. Along with the tasting menu, we added one wine pairing ($60/pp). We liked some of the wines so much that we asked for more information about them and learned that some of the wines are imported in small batches. After experiencing how well vegetables are prepared here, I'd love to visit during different seasons to sample their vegetarian menu items.

Sadly, I had to remove one star from my review because of how much of a letdown the chocolate cake was. It was completely over-cooked--not molten at all--and quite dry. Additionally, it came with the smallest scoop of ice cream I'd ever received with dessert from a restaurant/wine bar. All of this was extremely disappointing given that this is the most expensive dessert on the menu, and our server recommended it to us when we asked what we should get.
